Thanks for the hint. I'm going to remember that when it's time to get started. I tried the Premier strawberry and didn't like it, although lots of people do seem to like Premier. I've ordered unflavored unjury and GENEPRO so I hope they are truly unflavored! I've also got a sample pack of the nectar Protein drinks.

Any November Sleevers for 2014 need surgery buddys?
happymama2014 replied to happymama2014's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
So many Nov 3 dates. My Dr only does tuesday and Thursday surgeries so I was trying to allow for few days in hospital then weekend at home recovering before my son is around me. Don't want to scare him if I am in pain. Then he's in school for 6 hours a day the school days so I can rest and heal and walk around. I need to order a few more supplements then I'm doing my pantry shopping on the first of next month so everything's done. I'm ordering some GENEPRO flavorless Protein for Soups and applesauce for that first month or to mix with with crystal light. I'm not sure about Protein drinks right after that flavor is so sweet. I hear it dissolves in crystal light and I love the rasberry ice I could get in my protein that way as long as I can swallow okay -
What flavorless protein powder you using?
Yasman replied to vbm510's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm using the Genepro. I love this stuff. -
I've been drinking the walmart brand (great value) of flavored drink mixes, basically a take off of crystal light. The flavor I like the most is Iced Tea with Peach. I also drink coffee and make homemade iced tea just from lipton tea bags, sweetened with splenda. either of these go great with GENEPRO Protein powder, which dissolves easily and doesnt muck up the flavors. Good luck with your drink choices as well as your working with the doc on fixing the painful swallowing problem. That has got to just suck!

Honest truth about genepro protein powder
Yasman replied to PittsburghRNYgirl9814's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
I'm almost at the bottom of my first bag of GENEPRO and I've got to say, I love it. It dissolves so easy I don't need a blender or even really to shake my measured shaker cup (the kind with a doohickey inside to help mix). Its just so EASY. It doesnt add any flavor to my drinks (homemade iced tea, crystal light flavored drinks) although I do notice it will change the color. Doesn't bother me. I love that its just one tablespoon to add to your _______. Other Protein powders need such a big amount that adding it to foods I think is harder. I also really like that the calorie count is 98, not 250-something like my lean-body pre-made shakes that are hanging out in my refrigerator taking up real estate. -
Honest truth about genepro protein powder
bebeandkoko replied to PittsburghRNYgirl9814's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
I just bought bag of GENEPRO today as well! It arrived today and I'm currently trying it mixed in a serving of yogurt. It really is the best option I've found, taste wise! But am I the only one who is skeptical? 30g squeezed into a 15g scoop? I've tried researching it and have had no luck in finding a real explanation of how they are able to pull this off. It sounds too good to be true. I worry about relying on this and then finding out that it only has like 5g of Protein. Has anyone had their NUT sign off on this stuff? -
Honest truth about genepro protein powder
carolk36 replied to PittsburghRNYgirl9814's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
You will be amazed with the Genepro! I love it. I love that I can mix it in hot decaf coffee with no taste or SMELL whatsoever. The whey smell of other Proteins were just so bad to me. I'm slowing using up the other proteins I've purchased then will use only GENEPRO. Best of luck to you, Carol -

Honest truth about genepro protein powder
James Marusek replied to PittsburghRNYgirl9814's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
I never tried GENEPRO so I cannot answer your question. I found Protein shakes to be almost unpalatable. But there are many choices available and one needs to experiment until one finds one that can be tolerated. I used Muscle Milk Light. The protein powders cannot be mixed by hand but a blender such as a Ninja or Bullet Blender should be used. I found that by blending in a banana, it made the Protein shake more palatable. There are also premixed Protein drinks available and some are tasty. There is another type of product called Protein Ice. It has 42 grams of protein in a 20 ounce bottle. It comes in a number of flavors. I tried it and found that it tasted horrible, but my wife tried it and thought it tasted O.K. Another choice is milk. During the winter months, I drink a cup of hot cocoa (no sugar added). -
Honest truth about genepro protein powder
TEXASLADY52 replied to PittsburghRNYgirl9814's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
I love it! I could not get my Protein in without. I have always drinked Protein shakes but after surgery I got where I could not choke them down. The chaulky taste just got to me! I tried Isopure and the after taste was more than I could handle. I have a cabinet full of different protein wheys....cannot take them! I am on my third bag of Genepro! I drink it mixed with Crystal Light lemonade, put it in oatmeal, coffee....etc. I keep a bag in my car...so I can always mix me a drink on the go. You can call the number on the website and they will send you a sample. You can also order it from Amazon. -
Blender Bottles are nice...did anyone mention that yet? I didn't read all the answers. Also, unflavored GENEPRO has 30 grams of Protein, is about a tablespoon per dose, and is totally Water soluble, kind of like Benefiber, only it's all protein.

Honest truth about genepro protein powder
PittsburghRNYgirl9814 posted a topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
I am a little over 3 weeks post bypass and am having severe nausea to the point of looking at protein shakes and dry heaving. My dr is well aware of this issue and I had blood work drawn today- no results yet. My question is I cannot handle any taste of protein powder and I have read that genepro can be mixed into anything and is truly tasteless so I'm wondering if anyone has actually tried it and how "tasteless" it is. Thanks! -
Just a heads up - if anyone is interested in the GENEPRO, if you contact them on their website they'll mail you a sample for free. Just like carol, I didn't believe it was going to actually be flavorless, so I didn't want to drop the $$$ on a test. Luckily the sample came and amazed me. I mix it with cold Water and use some water enhancers to make it whatever flavor I want to.

Someone on this post already mentioned GENEPRO Protein but I want to mention it again. I'm one month out, and honesty, I was about to just stop with trying to get any protein because they all made me gag from the smell, the overly sweet taste and the whey flavor. I read where others were talking about Genepro being odorless and tasteless and I really didn't believe it was but decided to waste the money and try it. I'm so glad I did. It's really been a life-save for me. I mix it in everything, even hot decaf coffee. You only have to mix 1 tablespoon to get 30g of protein and it really is tasteless. I bought it off of Amazon after researching it. I hope this helps you. Best of luck, Carol

I love Genepro Protein too!
-
Oh bless your heart! I hope everything starts to look up for you soon! I have been using GENEPRO Protein. Some folks were talking about it here, and stated that is was really odorless and tasteless. I decided to try it because the horrible sweet tastes of all the shakes/protein I had been using was about to make me just stop protein altogether. That was the best choice I had every made! I sent the info to my NUT and surgeon since it's a fairly new product and both of them approved it. It truly is completely tasteless. I mix it in everything; decaf coffee, V8, diluted juice, yogurt. It has been a life-saver for me. You can order if from Amazon, which is were I got it or from the company website which is Musclegen Research. Best of luck to you! Carol

@msspicybaby does genepro taste good? I was reading up on it and heard its a tiny scoop that dossolves into anything and that sounds amazing at 30 grams per serving. Where do you buy it? I bought pea protein and I'm hoping it doesn't taste too horrible, I really want it to be unflavored. -
Layknee the unflavored protein powder is the best. I can get 30 grams and not even taste it. I love it . I use Genepro I ordered it from Amazon.

Hello Joy59 Our day is coming up rapidly. Lucky you only had 2 days. I had 2 weeks but,I wasn't 100% compliant. I was having problems with my blood sugars 59,62,92 (after eating 4 grapes)and 72. So I had to eat bites but I'm still losing. I hope I can get to 269-270 by the 8th. I do ok with Water I usually try to drink 4 16.9 bottles that will give me almost 68oz. plus any other liquids. With the Protein Idrink a cup of ta when I get up. I put 1 spoonful of Splenda/sugar and 1 spoonful of GENEPRO in the tea. Genepro is 30 grams of protein. Then I drink 1 Premier chocolate shake that's 30 grams. and a Equate Shake before bed 10 gram. I don't get my 800 cal. I will be glad when surgery day is here and over. Let the healing begin. -
Scared to death....
msspiceybaby replied to mindylouho's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hello mindylouho I always tried to keep a happy face about my surgery (Oct.8th) I always try to uplift everyone I respond to. But these last few days have been trying I need some of that uplift. This year has been an awareness to a lot of medical problems just developed this year. Yesterday I went for my pre-op. First of all I was there all day(didn't expect that). Took an EKG, and the doctor tells me it was abnormal looks like I had a heart attack. So now I have to go to and have a stress test. My granddaughter just got a cold (she lives with me), my CPAP machine (don't have). Why? The doctor office never gave the medical company the needed information (from July). My instructions for my stress test,"no caffeine or caffeine free products". WHAT! I'm already on a liquid diet, my Protein is chocolate both of them (although I do use GENEPRO it's great). This bit of information is just to say at the end of the day I started to think that maybe these were signs that I shouldn't get the surgery. But then I realized maybe some of the medical problems were due to the diabetes I have. Hopefully, this will stop or get rid of some of the problems I could possibly get in the future. So with that being said, think about the reasons you wanted the surgery. And embrace those thoughts. See talking to you has made me feel better. Good luck to both of us and I will see you on our journey. -
At that point in my journey, most of my meals consisted of instant mashed potatoes made with powdered milk, GENEPRO (unflavored Protein powder), a little melted cheese and cayenne pepper. It wasn't a ton of protein, but with the 2TBSP meals nothing was going to be anyway. Not sure if you've tried any RTD (Ready to Drink) shakes or not, but they've been my saving grace since well before surgery and even today at 7 months out and past my goal. I love the Premier Protein strawberry flavor with Pure Protein banana a runner-up. Premier has 30g of protein in 11oz and Pure has 35g in the same 11oz. As MsUjima mentioned, Isopure is another option. I tolerated them before surgery, but afterwards they were too sweet and I couldn't choke them down. I ended up giving away the extra case I'd ordered because I couldn't deal with it. They're 40g of protein but in a 20oz bottle. If you're struggling to drink Fluid, the shakes give you more protein per ounce than the Isopure, but both are worth a try as it sounds like you just need something that works. Beyond that, it may be worth a call to your bariatric team as well. You could potentially have some other issue going on that they would have better questions to ask and advice to give depending on the answers.

September 8th...is my date
angelicHG7 replied to Jenny Pooh's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Yes, I get all my Protein in.... I drink a shake just once a day. I do pure Protein shakes in the can 35g of protein for Breakfast. I usually eat a Greek yogurt (chobani 12g) at some point in the day. I bought the GENEPRO Protein powder that people talk about on here. It's tasteless small scoops 30g of protein and you can add it to anything hot or cold. I usually add it to my soups and it doesn't change the flavor or texture. I bought it on amazon. I have laughing cow cheese wedges, cottage cheese, egg or chicken salad and deviled eggs that add a nice amount of protein when needed. Before I could actually eat.... The one Protein Shake that is only 11oz and the 1 scoop of genepro was enough to put me at 65g of protein a day on its own. So it has never been an issue. Now that I am able to add other stuff to the mix... It's just a better variety.
