I am .....I'll just say my plate is full. I feel like I don't have anything to give to anyone else right now. I feel like I am eating everything. few string beans, 2 bites of beef...golf ball 8:30am granola bar 11am brownie sundae 1:30 asian salad 2:10 cereal, fried chicken thigh5:45 grape mike and ike candy 6:30 piece of eckridge sausage and fruit 9pm Bed 12pm Again it is not a meal. I am scared to weigh in this evening. The weekend was so full I did not walk. Sat morning ran errands to begin DD hair for school. I was so tired I went to bed early. Got up early to volunteer and came home to continue to hair. Washed clothes and then she took a nap so I cooked dinner. She got up and I finished her hair but I kept going back for another piece of beef. Yesterday I do go to TTC so I am happy about that.

I am 10!days away from surgery and I am so excited and cannot wait! I am trying to make sure I have everything I need by then. What all do I need to take with me when I go in for surgery?

That's terrible. Where do you live??? I'm in my early 40's now. In my early 30's I lost 150+ pounds through diet and exercise. I thought I was bullet proof and my issues with food were solved. I was cured. WRONG. Over the next 10 years I put back on 110 pounds. Now I know I'll never be 'cured' of my issues with food. It'll be something I'll need to manage, always. But I learn from my mistakes and move on. When I lose the weight this time, I won't make the same mistakes again. Learn from today and move on. You're in a better position now because you know there's still emotional eating issues there. Now that you're aware you can manage that next time you feel under stress. Cheers, Deano

I feel your pain! Been there, u couldn't even eat a sliver if cheese without getting sick. However, I'm almost 10 wks out and although I can't tolerate ice cream or milk, I can tolerate most cheese in moderation. Good luck! -
Op March 31, 2009 I have been taking potassium M-20 tablets almost two years along with a diuretic, torsemide 20 mg. I continued to take both during the pre-op 10 day liquid diet. My hospital admittance blood work showed a high potassium level, so I have not taken the potassium since resuming the diuretic. Obviously, my potassium needs to be carefully tuned.

Goodbye 2008! It’s fading fast and the fat lady WILL sing tonight…this fat lady that is. It’s sooooo over! I have bigger and better plans for 2009 so I’m welcoming it in with style. My sister (#3 out of the 5 of us) called and canceled their trip here today from Ohio because she’s sick, so I’m a little down. My kids were all so looking forward to them coming. They have four boys similar in ages to my kids so they’ve grown up together and are great friends. We love having family for New Years. We even had all 16 (all but the Chicago gang) to our house for the Millenium for a slumber party…great fun! Anyway, we took the kids to a movie this afternoon (Benjamin Buttons) and now we’re getting ready to party. I helped DD get ready for ‘Plan B’ and she just left with the boyfriend for Pittsburgh in her skinny red party dress. DS1 has to work for awhile (restaurant server). Over the years, Mr.SA and I have done it all…parties, clubs, but when the kids were little we mostly stayed home or had neighbor parties. If you’ve been following my life at all you won’t be surprised to hear I had an evil New Year’s plan. I went around the house in the afternoon and turned all the clocks ahead two hours. It was great…we counted down with the kids until midnight and celebrated the whole shebang; party hats, noise makers, party poppers with confetti…it was fun. Of course, my neighbors probably thought we were crazy banging pans on our front porch at 10:00pm, but the kids were so happy they were able to stay awake until the New Year (well, sort of), and we had a peaceful hour or so after they went to bed to ring in the New Year. This went on WAY more years than we even hoped it would…then one fine year my oldest (DD) heard about the “ball drop” from someone at school…darn that TV…foiled again! I’ve since confessed to my evil plan, and the kids think it’s hilarious (well, sort of). So now I’m all dolled up with nowhere to go (well we were invited to a neighbor party, so not quite)…but it’s OK…I’ve got my party hat on and party poppers ready to go…we’re ringing in this New Year in style…the fat lady is singing tonight…she’s going DOWN in 2009! Happy New Year all! "Auld Lang Syne" (times gone by) Should old acquaintance be forgot, and never brought to mind ? Should old acquaintance be forgot, and auld lang syne? CHORUS: For auld lang syne, my dear, for auld lang syne, we'll take a cup o’ kindness yet, for auld lang syne. And surely you’ll buy your pint cup! And surely I’ll buy mine! And we'll take a cup o’ kindness yet, for auld lang syne.

7/28/09 I must hate myself. Right? why else would I do this to myself. I’m like a fast food junkie. This must be what it feels like to be hooked on crack. Always thinking about your next hit and where it’s going to come from. The moment I feel a twinge of lunch-time hunger I’m all about where I’m going to snag my next “hit”. Then I eat and for about 30 seconds I enjoy it right before the guilt sets in. Then about 10 minutes later I feel terrible. Bloated and full and yucky, which just accentuates the guilt. And the cycle continues…I must hate myself. right? or I wouldn’t eat like I do. I’m actually to a point where I’m going to have a doctor surgically restrict my stomach capacity. Oh God please don’t let me fail. This is like my only chance. All I have to do is follow the rules. I try so hard to be optimistic and not think about the possibility of failure but it’s there. In my head, it’s there. That voice, that sounds oddly like my mothers, saying “why bother, you’re not going to be able to follow the rules.” Am I in denial because I’m not allowing myself to really even think about the possibility of failure or is that what I’m supposed to do? If the root cause is self hate then really will the surgery even work? Have I been fooling myself all these years into thinking I liked myself? I’m mean really I must hate myself. right? or I wouldn’t eat like I do….

Are you keeping an actual food journal to log the breakdown of your calories/fats/carbs/protein? Sounds like you are getting in an OK amount of Protein, but might need more. At 6 weeks you should be aiming to get 80-90g at a minimum. And it's good if you can get half of that in before mid-day, rather than lumping it all in the afternoon. If you can, mix up what you're eating rather than eating the same thing more than twice a day. Are you logging your fluids as well, 64oz or more per day? How much are you exercising? It might be time to bump it up a little, like 10% more. More than likely it's just a stall. The human body is not a perfectly tuned machine and can have it's quirks. Be patient, I'm sure it will break soon!!

Unexpected Surprise During Clothes Shopping!
misspatrice replied to Infernored's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I know that feeling. Feels SOOOOOOOOO good. Congrats! You'll be dropping sizes faster than you can even imagine. Good for you. . . . also consider thrift stores, salvation army, etc. I NEVER went to thrift stores prior to surgery but now I go practically EVERY week. You find good deals on jeans/pants/etc. Not so bad to spend 10 bucks on 2 pairs of jeans that you'll only wear for a month or two. Save your money for your shopping spree once the weight stops. -
Flying for the first time for this surgery.. TIPS
B.Annie replied to Pistol_Annie's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Do Not over pack. One bag should be fine - carry on size preferred so you don't have to fuss with baggage claim or walking around larger airports with a bunch of stuff. Call the airline beforehand to ask how wide their seats are (usually 17-19 inches wide) and how long their belts are. You might need to buy a 2nd seat or request a belt extension. Bring chewing gum (at minimum for on the way there) to help pop your ears when you're reaching altitude. Bring a soft pillow to hold in your lap on the plane. Turbulence won't feel good after surgery. Don't wear pants if you can help it. Just a dress. You don't need the band digging in. Bring earphones and music or earplugs. If you don't hear the noises as it's preparing for takeoff, it will help your nerves. Ask your surgeon for an extra dose of nausea meds for the trip home. Use your incentive spirometer on the plane during the process. It will help focus your breathing and calm your nerves. Smile and be nice. When you're a doll, they'll all usually be much more accommodating for anything you might need. HW: 328 (02/21/17) SW: 271 (05/24/17) CW: 262 -
I've got a couple for this week. Yesterday I hit double figures, I now weigh under 100kg and only have about 8kg to go before I'm merely overweight instead of obese. Today I called into the gym very quickly, as I have to go out, so I just wanted to clock up 40 minutes on the treadmill. I picked a hill program, set level 10, speed 6.5 kms per hour. I could not get my heart rate over 119 for love nor money, I physically cannot walk any faster than that or I'd have to jog and the incline at times was at 8! So I've gotten LOADS fitter. And my ankle didnt even give me a twinge. I am so freaking happy today.

I think about 95% of people some sort of stall. I never had a true stall (14 days without an ounce lost), but the closer I got to goal, my loss slowed down. I didn't experience a stall for the first 6 months, and then I was a few pounds from goal and hit a 10 day stall, then BAM dropped those pounds plus 2 to drop me below goal. If you follow your post-op dietary guidelines, push Protein and fluids, the weight loss will continue, plus working out, building muscle mass can slow down your loss, but you'll be losing inches. A pound is a pound be it a pound of fat or muscle. Fat is lumpy and takes up space, muscle mass is lean, and takes up less space in our bodies so when we build muscle, it burns the fat, and we trim down even though the scale may not be moving. I recommend taking your measurements at your neck, breasts/chest, upper arms, upper thighs, waist, hips and calves. Your clothes might fit differently even if the scale isn't moving much because you're muscles are growing, and the lumpy, bumpy fat is melting away. Mentally prepare for a stall by realizing that your body can not continue to lose a pound a day for a year. Take your measurements, and document your progress in pictures so you can physically see the changes. If you hit a stall, analyze your intake and make sure you're staying on course food wise. Stalls happen, the rapid weight loss can't last forever, but you can continue to lose at a good rate by sticking to the rules. I dropped 115lbs in 6.5 months so it's possible to lose all your weight, and keep a steady loss going.

Any ideas for natural or prescription medications that you have taken and have worked to reduce your cholesterol? I have an appointment next week with my doc to discuss meds. My doc is really concerned because even with almost a 50 lbs loss my cholesterol has not moved more than 4 pts. I watch everything I eat for hidden cholesterol and my numbers have been about the same for the last 10 years. Thanks in advance!

I had VSG 10/21/14. HW 232 LW 119 CW 132. 5'3". I am so scared of regain. I am up about 13 lbs from my lowest weight in July of this year. I have never had an issue with food or drink, never threw up post op. There isn't anything I CAN'T eat, I still have restriction, but I can eat all day. I had a premiere protein drink every morning until recently. I haven't had the money to stock up like I want to. I need someone to keep me accountable and push me through this funk I'm in. -
what do u think????? life or temporary?????
lola0806 replied to 2Flyguys's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Like most of you have said this is a "Life Style Change" and that's how I've been living my life for the past 10 months. But I also know that if I don't have a glass of wine when we go out to dinner or a taste of a dessert or some other treat once in a while I'm afraid that I will binge and go back to my old habits. Every day is a struggle so I take it one day at a time. There are days I wish I can just lose all of my weight and be done with it and then there are days that I am glad that I am losing at a steady/healthy pace. My last visit with my surgeon I had not lost as much as I wanted and I complained to her, we had been socializing a lot more lately and I said to her if I didn't have the drinks that I did, or eaten what I did I would have lost more. She told me that I was living my life and if I didn't enjoy some of the foods that I ate before I am depriving myself and might go off the deep end later on. So during the week, which is the easy time of the week for me, I stick to my "Healthy eating lifestyle" and on the weekends if we go out and I have a martini or a glass of wine or eat something that is not as healthy I don't beat myself up over it or at least I try not to :smile2:. As long as the scale is going down I figure I'm doing what I set out to do. Good luck to all of you. -
My summary after 1 week: 1. Room temp and warm fluids tolerated best. 2. New stomach did lots of "growling" but rejected nothing. 3. Nausea meds gave me a headache and made me dizzy. 4. Hunger still lives on! Surprised -- didn't expect that at all! 5. Cravings for a graham cracker on day 5, then club crackers on day 6. 6. Advice? Don't try to rush things - slow and steady gets you there. Stay ahead of hunger with proteins. 7. Regrets? Wish I had added 1 tsp Benefiber to each protein drink to avoid constipation. 8. Haven't managed 64oz fluids daily - only up to 48oz 9. Naps are wonderful. 10. Making grocery list for things I can soon have - cottage cheese, V8, creamy soups, spinach added to smoothies, applesauce, etc How does this compare with other experiences after one week?

Hey guys! So I was sleeved May 6th and have undergone several major surgeries and about 16 smaller procedures to correct a leak that occurred 10 days after my initial surgery. That being said I was put out of work for the last 6 months and have now returned to work as of the 7th of this month. I will gladly add that I have been, what I call, foreign object free for about a month. Currently I have lost a total of 156lbs since the date of surgery, and although physically I look good (very few stretch marks, no saggy skin, etc.) I'm having a problem with just daily stamina and exhaustion. My doctor says that along side of the fat loss, I have also lost most of my muscle mass as well. My back will start to hurt after some time being up and active due to lack of core strength, and I need some advice with this. I'm now able to eat soft foods after having been on NPO (no food or drink by mouth) for almost 6 months. So I'm trying to be mindful as to what I'm eating and reminding myself to eat as well. But it doesn't seem to be helping too much. Any and all advice will be greatly appreciated!! Thanks guys!!

Crushed Meds And Sleeping
BBdoodle replied to Dawn's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Oh I hear ya..... Please try and get your fluids and meds in. I found if I took baby sips all day long I was able to get "some" of my fluids in. By 10 days post op I was drinking my 64 oz. of water and 64 grams of protein daily. If you are really having a hard time I would contact your surgeon, you may have stricture. Are you throwing up at all??
