  1. And the hair loss is starting. ... A great NSV to my fear coming true.... I already had major hair loss back in June and July due to my DRESS syndrome, now I get to experience it again. *sigh* Oh well.. hopefully it won't be too too bad. ???? Now to the gym I go to sweat my ass off!
  2. I had vsg on 9/30/15 and have been working with a personal trainer for one month now. Every week we have tried a handstand but I just haven't been able to hold myself up. Yesterday I was finally able to hold myself up! I did 7 of these bad boys. Now to work on actually staying up there for more than 3 seconds I've lost 44 lbs since surgery. I've had times when I consider myself a "slow loser" but I try to keep everything in perspective. I've lost inches, gained muscle, and gained endurance that I never had before. I say all this to say, you are stronger than you think you are. Don't get discouraged with "slow" progress. You are awesome and can do amazing things. Even if you can't do those things RIGHT NOW, just be patient. I couldn't do that handstand four weeks ago but it was always there waiting for me. Whatever you want from life, take it. You got this!
  3. Hi Dub! Your NSV is pretty darn awesome as well! Doesn't it make you feel lighter on your feet?!! It actually makes me feel a little more energized and makes me want to push more and do more! It's a tingle of motivation! A boost of energy! You keep being awesome and keep up the fantastic work!
  4. Life is pretty darn good these days! Thanks everyone!! Each day I get little bursts of motivation by either compliments, NSV's or by reading all of your inspirational posts! I can't wait to hit my next big milestone (onederland!) - which I'm hoping within the week And then the next one - 100 lbs lost and so on!!! Let's keep kicking butt everyone! We are all in this together!!! ????
  5. Awesome story !!! Saleslady: "Yes, that's right, you're too small for this store" LMAO. Great stuff right there. Well done on the jacket, too. I had a moment like that Friday night. Finally was cold enough to need a jacket and was going out for an evening out. Didn't really want to wear my everyday coat and reached for a leather coat that I'd planned on wearing for Winter of next year. Yeah....it fit and zipped and everything. Crazy. Wore it with pride. NSV's are great. Also hit a new low weight the next morning. Keep on killing it. I know you are working really hard in the gym and the energy has to be feeling great.
  6. yep... a big Non-scale Victory happened to me today and I didn't get it. I had to get it explained to me. But once it was I haven't stopped smiling since! : ) So I went to Pennington's (a plus sized clothing store) today to buy some new panties and bras since I'm still wearing the ones from 72 pounds ago.. not a pretty picture, I know. I asked the sales lady to size me for new bras, so she did. this is how the conversation went: Saleslady: "so I think you're a DD36" Me: "oh no way am I a double D! I don't even think I'm a D" Saleslady: "Ok, so maybe a D36 then but we don't have any 36's" Me: "What do you mean you don't have any 36's? Like not in stock at the moment? When will you be getting more in?" Saleslady: "No we don't carry size 36's" Me: "I don't understand" Saleslady: "We don't carry that size, only 38 and up. I know that the lingerie store that is a few stores down from here is having a really good sale, you should go there for your bras and panties" Me: "Sooooo I don't need to shop here...?" Saleslady: "Yes, that's right, you're too small for this store" YES THAT IS ACTUALLY HOW THE CONVERSATION WENT!! I almost had to ask her to repeat it because it was very cool to hear!!! heeheeheeheeheeheehee I am too small for the Plus sized store! I can shop in regular stores! Even for lingerie! I was dumbfounded! (as you can tell by my side of the conversation) It totally made my day!!!!!! And another one to top it off was that a friend gave me a LARGE running jacket and I was going to put it in my closet not thinking that I would even get on... let alone do it up... and it FIT!!! I even zipped it up!! Did I mention it was a large??!! Just thought I'd share!! Today was a good day. hahaha If you got a NSV to share, please do! even a scale one! Aaaaaaannnnd GO! Keep being awesome BP friends! Heather

    NSV shout outs

I have a hard time believing it's real. Before surgery, I thought I would fail at this. I really did. I would read through all the NSV threads and never thought I'd be posting here!I completely agree with you! I kept my surgery a secret for exactly this reason. But I'm proud of what I have done for myself and my life.

  13. Oh AND I was telling someone else this too but last week I had another NSV! Those dang bleachers. Back when I was fat there is NO WAY I would try to squeeze my big self past people on those things. Now I have no problem walking my skinny no butt having a** right past them to get a good seat! Right down the middle! Not one shit given!

NSV + "oh my goodness" moment!

Congratulations! You look (and sound) awesome. I love to hear about NSVs that involve living life. It sounds like you are doing just that.
  15. Hello All! Ok so today I spent all day at my daughters Winter guard competitions. I posted a picture on FB talking about how I was the "glam mom" for the team (hair & makeup). After posting this picture my inbox BLEW up! I guess a lot of people haven't seen me since I've lost the weight. I don't normally post full body pictures. I got called "tiny" and "amazing". TINY! I had to go back and look at the picture again. It's like I'm just now seeing my new self for the first time. I'm starting to see what everyone else sees. It's the weirdest feeling! I don't think I'm "tiny"' but compared to the 267 lbs I was last year I see what they are saying. I also noticed I need a butt! Lol that's the "oh my goodness" moment. Where did it go?! My tush literally hurt sitting in the bleachers all day. I kept having to switch from cheek to cheek. I started getting paranoid thinking people are going to think I have hemorrhoids the way I keep moving but no! It's the bones in my butt that don't have that fat cushioning! So I had a NSV and a painful realization all in one! Now what do I tell these people. One I was honest with because she's a rather big girl and I didn't want to feed her some lie and get her hopes up. The others I said thank you and avoided the question. I don't mind telling overweight people but I don't like telling my skinny friends. I'm not sure why that is but I just don't feel the need to elaborate with them. Anyway just thought I'd share. Share yours if you have one! I posted the picture below , not the greatest but a 6 year old took it sooooo... The other is my super proud guard mom picture living on coffee and sour rainbow straws. Can't be good all the time!
  16. @@nikisa welcome to onederland nice to see you!! the above are three wonderful NSV's enjoy them - they are a big part of your new life pre and post op down 68 lbs party dance party dance keep up the great work mentally and physically kathy congrats
  17. This month is the five month anniversary of my sleeve surgery. Next week is a big company meeting. I had set a personal goal of achieving 50% weight loss by that date. I will hit that goal or be within a pound of it. My rate of loss has seemed slow to me but after looking at the charts I realize it has been pretty steady with great progress, just a bit slower than I'd anticipated. So far I've been very pleased with every aspect of this journey. Here are a few of my victories and observations post surgery. Victories: Weight loss - 55 pounds - halfway to goal Clothing sizes - Went from (men's) size 46 slacks to 40, size 19 shirts to 17 1/2, size 4xl t-shirts to 2xl sleep apnea - Gone Type 2 diabetes - Gone Joint aches, pains and stiffness - Gone High blood pressure - went from 2 meds to 1, and only half the dose of that one Other NSV's: Airplanes - went from almost needing a seat belt extender to being able to put the tray table down all the way Travel - can now sleep in most any hotel bed without needing the mattress and pillows to be 'just right' Stairs - I used to be winded at the top of a flight of stairs, but can bound up them now with no issues. Exercise - much easier now and I have more stamina. Some observations: Stalls - I've found that I stall easily and really need to watch my program closely. Diet - It's a tight balance - too few calories and I stall. Too many and I stall. Hunger - I never realized how much of my problem was "head hunger" or bored snacking until the real hunger went away. Snacking - is an insidious enemy and can derail progress without you knowing it. You have to account for everything you eat. Alcohol - I can have a drink or two without problem, but it does stop my loss for a couple of days. Better save it for maintenance. I lost weight rapidly for the first couple of months but have noticed now I've settled into a fairly steady rate of loss of around 2 pounds per week. I'm fine with this rate as long as I can keep it going. Over time it will require more exercise to maintain but at this rate I should hit my goal weight at about my one year surgery anniversary. That is now my new goal.
  18. I'm still four months pre WLS but I'm down about 20 pounds. Not only did my partner say she noticed a weight loss but a pair of jeans that used to cut off my circulation has a little room in the waist. Also, I realized that I could actually be weighed on a regular doctor's office scale. At the upper end, of course, but every NSV helps. Sleep study was last night, endoscopy is on Monday, second appointment with nutritionist is on Thursday . . . Things are moving along.
  19. I saw a picture of myself from behind and honestly did not even realize it was me until I noticed that it was my hair. Also I have a certain, um, sexy-time NSV that I won't share here in public but believe me when I say that there are new and fun things happening in our bedroom.
