Anyone else close to being under 300lbs????

I've lost 50 pounds, but not quite there yet... about 27 more to go! I can't wait to see that 299 on my scale. My first NSV in a long time... I have a scale that doesn't go past 330. I surpassed it long ago, but couldn't bring myself to get rid of it. I always told myself I would use that dang scale... and finally this past week I DID! It wasn't magical, but I've carried that darn thing through several moves and it's FINALLY useful!
  2. What an awesome NSV. My own experience is like yours, in that sometimes I look at clothes and do not believe they will fit ... AND THEY DO Recently bought some shorts in size 44 (I used to wear size 60 pre-op). When I looked them, couldn't believe I could fit in something so tiny. Yet they fit. PS Hoping your visit to HOT-lanta was a fun one. -RC-
  3. That's a great NSV! Congrats,,that must feel so awesome!!

  5. Your post was spot on! Its calories in vs calories out...we all know that. As I was looking through my VFW magazine the other day, and then looked at other Veterans mailers/flyers I get, I discussed with a co-worker this exact thing. SO many of us have been "fit" before in our lives....maybe we were in some organization that "made" us stay in shape, then when we are no longer "required" to do the exercise/PT, we don't change our eating habits. Take a look at the size of most of the folks in those magazines....it'll be evident. I could diet on my own like most everyone...for the short term. Done it many times. Then get lazy, relaxed, whatever. Right back to the poor eating habits (several large plates of food) and lack of exercise....and gain back more than I lost. Thats why I needed WLS...for the long term. And a little NSV for me today...I put on my Class A jacket....AND IT FIT! First time in 20 years!

  7. When i bought my car in 07, i was embarrassed that i couldnt fasten the driver seat belt ( i didnt think to try it when i was checking out the car) so i had to buy an extender so i could wear the seat belt...uggh! well about 2 months ago, i tried to use the seatbelt without it, and i could fasten it, i was very excited but..it was very tight and i struggled to get the buckle to snap. This morning as i got in the car to drive my son to school...he asked me to try again..so i did...and it was easy breezy..and comfortable! NO MORE EXTENDER FOR ME!!!!!!!

    My 1St Nsv!

Yay!! Those clothes NSVs are terrific, aren't they???
  10. Hey all thought I would give a quick up date... On my offical weigh day, I weighed the same, no loss , no gain... my measurements were to same too... so I guess my stall is still with me. What I have no come to accept, again, is that these stalls are par for the course with me (and many others) and it is something that I am just gonna have to get used to. I HAVE to get to my goal weight, I HAVE to do this... the whole reason for spending the money and having major surgery is to get fit and have a longer and healthier life. I suppose I have to accept that this is going to take a long time... but I will get there. I think that the stall might be hormonal... my cycle is a mess, both before and after surgery... I am going to monitor it and if I need to I will go see my doc. ANY HOW... I thought I would share a NSV with you all...on the weekend I bought a pair of calf length boots.... OMG... I could put them on and DO THE ZIP ALL THE WAY UP TO THE TOP... I haven't been able to do that for nearly 20 years!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! *dances hysterically around the room8 This means, that I can now wear them with a skirt or dress... Check me out ...lol I really don't understand my body and how it works, but I love my new boots... =]
  11. I love that I can cross my legs now......and it's comfortable! Been wanting to tell someone that, but who else but my fellow Sleevers would understand such a victory!

  14. Thank you, @@Ebony Rose This was an unexpected NSV ...... Need velcro strapped shoes .... LOL Great fashion statement ....
  15. Although I've lost during my post-op my surgeon told me at my one week check up to expect a gain during this time! He told me that it is totally natural. So don't give it any mind! Just heal! Drink plenty of fluids and if your like me who mentally feels like I have to go to the bathroom everyday my Dr suggested Miralax in my water! I think about my pre surgery life and if I got on the scale even once a month I most likely wouldn't be in this position! So take a break from the scale and look for some Non Scale Victories (NSV)!!! Like I have not needed a Prilosec since I had my surgery and my BP is almost normal!

    Jessiebear's complete list of NSVs...

Sorry to be dense, but what is NSV? It sounds like a good thing...

    Jessiebear's complete list of NSVs...

NSV = Non Scale Victory Even if the scales aren't moving, we still have good things happening to us as a result of our previous weight loss. It's the little things that make you notice you really are making progress.
  19. ACK!!! That's the funkiest picture ever!! I was jumping the fire pit and had smoke in my eyes. A huge NSV? Not caring how ugly a picture is of myself. The fear of facebook tagging no longer exists.

You're doing great! From what I've read & went thru, we all have stalls but get NSV's (NonScaleVictories) in other ways so my suggestion is to give yourself some time before the HCG. My friend had the sleeve for about a year before the HCG and she did it to help "reset" her weight. and to lose the extra 20 she wanted to. I'm 4 months, 46 pounds and grateful for this weighloss but my metabolism is so shot from the gain/lose that I am really considering the HCG to jumpstart it also.
  21. A dress I was able to find in their clearance section in a size 12! I was so excited!! Shopping has been so awkward actually looking in the "standard size" sections and grabbing a size too big instead of too small. It's taking my brain some time to adjust to look for a large or even a medium sometimes instead of 2XL.

    Wahoo Nsv For Me!!

    Lane Bryant/Torrid NSV

I think clothing NSV's are the best! You finally feel validated when you make it into a new section, be it ordinary plus size, or normal sizes or whatever. I remember how darn depressing it was to not be able to shop in any normal stores. I had the choice of one store or horrid discount department stores and that was it unless I wanted to go really upmarket, go into the city to shop and pay $300 for a pair of jeans. Formal or dressy occasions were a nightmare. It was awful.
