...just got real!
prettyCali916 replied to prettyCali916's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So glad to hear that you are doing well, I'm sure the numbers on the scale will be kind but if not look at all of your current NSV's ???????????? I actually weigh myself everyday and use this app to keep the progress. I'm glad that your hernia isn't bothering you this week but so jealous- my hernia repair is awful, I feel like I have acid in my esophagus and I'm having some discomfort but it comes with the territory so I will be patient Yayyy for being able to get away when your hubby chases you- you two sound sooo cute aw thank you! I'm so sorry to hear about the discomfort and acidic feeling you're having! That's got to be aggravating. I have a question. Did your doctor put you on Prilosec at all? My doctor has me start Prilosec one week pre-op and continue until the end of two weeks post-op. I think that's some kind of secret magic key for no acid or something! I've never taken that stuff in my life but he was like take it. Even if you don't have heartburn or discomfort take it - and then he said so many patients won't take it thinking it was options and then they turn up with issues. I took everyday - no issues at all! I hope you feel better soon! -

I hit it by 6oz for the first time in 19 or 20 years. I am pumped but I also had some great NSV this weekend as well. My son had his state robotic competition, this meant leaving at 6:30 AM and got home at 10PM. I didn't appreciate at the time, I never sweat the whole day in fact I had to wear my jacket. I never even considered packing my pockets with tissue to wipe my face or pulling up my hair. I also never hit a point that I was just existing to make it through, I enjoyed it the whole time. With my heart issues I was exhausted yesterday and had to take the day to rest, but I had a smile on my face the whole time. Thank you to everyone on this site, I couldn't do this without you,

Update! Seems like liquids are finally going down with less of an issue. The hernia repair must be healing. I'm not going to get my hopes up though. I'm not going to consider myself healed until about week 6. I didn't weigh this weekend because I was trying to hold out until I completed my last day on full liquids which is today. I'll post a weight update tomorrow. Seeing 263.6 would be amazing because I was 283.6 morning of surgery on 2/1. Wishful thinking though...we'll see. I've noticed when I've been walking my knees don't bother me, my feet don't hurt, my legs aren't tired....and it's not that it's been a while since I was at my current weight. It hasn't actually. The difference is that I was in the gym everyday hurting myself just to keep my weight here. I would come home every night after working out sore and tired and dragging and just not feeling great at all. I am so excited to know that when I start exercising again (tomorrow) I can do it gradually and easy at first. Speaking of, I really need to make a workout plan - I'll do that tonight before bed. Anyways - NSV's so far: *My face is clearly smaller. *My tight size 16 pants fit easily. *My legs are slimming down. *Compliments. Compliments everywhere I go. Way more than usual. *I can actually get away when my husband chases me around the house now! Cheers! -
I am 3.5 weeks out from surgery and had my first nsv this week. I took a trip for the weekend and was very happy to find that I didn't need a seat belt extender on the airplane! It was a great feeling. What non scale victories has anyone else had?

NSV for Valentine's Day

Congrats, I Love NSVs! -
No more queen for me!!! Happy Valentine's Day everybody!

NSV's are what I live for especially during those months that the scale do not move. I travel a lot so I used to dread taking a middle seat on a plane because at my highest weight of 330 pounds there would be three very anxious people in my row. Now it does not matter any seat will do. Keeping up with the grand children is my greatest joy.

Finally, after 15 years, I am in ONEderland!

Wonderful onederland! Congratulations on on your weight loss and even more so, your NSV's! -
Goals. Goals not met. Goals can be a real beyotch if you don't have some refinement and structure around them. At least that's the way it is for me. I certainly have an ultimate goal of where I want to be.....but I've set intermittent goals that feel freaking great when achieved. Not all of them are weight goals. Many are NSV's that I get a kick out of reaching. ....A piece of clothing that I want to fit in comfortably. ......An activity that I want to do without difficulty. ......Fitness goals. It is imperative that I have goals beyond the scale. My daily weigh-ins would drive me nuts if they were my only source of validation. One of the ones that I achieved yesterday.....hit me like a hammer and made me grin stupidly......was on the treadmill. Had my first morning off work after a 60 hr pressure cooker workweek. I hit the gym and busted off two hours on the treadmill. Even when I'd find that "right" music and turn up the speed and elevation.....I couldn't seem to get my heart rate up above the high 140's. Crazy. A month ago I couldn't keep it under 160. Soon....soon the knees will be ready to run and it's going to be ON !!!!!!

A shrinking stall?
Kindle replied to theladyslipper's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Between weeks 6 and 7 I GAINED 3 pounds. At 10 weeks (that was the next time I stepped on the scale) I weighed the same as 6 weeks. But I had dropped a whole pant size, so never even knew I had a month long stall till it was nearly over. So yes, it happens. That is why my mantra to all newbies is "Stay off the scale", because those numbers do not always show what's really going on. Try not to worry about the numbers, just enjoy the NSVs. They are the important part. -
As I sit here sipping on my iced green tea I look down and realize I am wearing a 6" heel like its second nature. I am all smiles. About to change into my workout gear and go hiking soon.

Thigh Lift: Worth It?
NewSetOfCurves replied to JamieLogical's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
I had the lower body lift (which--as I am sure you know--lifts the outer thigh) in conjunction with the vertical lift. The cut made to lift the outer thigh, is right along the line of an extended tummy tuck, so I think it would go right along with your existing scar. The vertical cuts are right along the groin line. I really love my results, but I did go into it knowing that no matter how tight the doctor pulled on those thighs--especially the outer part--I knew that they would relax some. At 7 weeks post op I went on vacation. Walked around a Water park with the kids, hung out on the beach, walked the beach...no problems. My thighs look much better, I love them and I am even going to hit the beach this spring without a cover up for my legs. Here is a link to the pic that I posted. It shows my thighs. It is not a quality pic, but it is all I have for now. http://www.bariatricpal.com/topic/360777-nsv-wearing-a-bikini-with-no-coverup-finally/ -
Shoe Size Dropping (NSV?) - What about you?
heynowkc posted a topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
For a long time I was at a size US11 women's shoe, but in the two years leading up to my surgery, I often bought size 12s or even 13s just so I could fit them width-wise. Because of this, I am not EXACTLY sure how big my foot actually was at my highest weight. About 4 months after surgery (last March) I was measured for a new pair of running shoes for a 5k I was doing. By that point I'd already lost over 100 lbs from my starting weight and was measured at an 11 (10.5 on one foot, even 11 on the other). I recently needed shoes for a new job (second job) and realized I'd bought shoes that were just too big. I asked the clerk at payless if I could be measured and she measured me at a 10, (9.5 on one foot, 10 on the other). So I've dropped a whole shoe size in both feet AT THE VERY LEAST, possibly more. I'm still about 100 lbs from goal weight, so it may be possible that I could drop to a 9.5 or even a 9 before all of this is through. I am just curious -- how many shoe sizes have other people lost?? It is really nice not to be in an 11 anymore because it is really hard to find shoes that are bigger than a 10, but even 10s can be challenging depending on the store! Definitely one of my favorite shopping related NSVs. -
NSV: Wearing a Bikini with NO Coverup! FINALLY!
NewSetOfCurves posted a topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Last summer I was able to wear 2 piece, but with a coverup. I was still conscious of my tummy and thighs. But after recovering from plastics and working HARD in the gym 5-6 days a week, I can officially say that I will be hitting the beach this spring without a coverup. When I put on my 2 piece and saw my pic, I think I cried and cried for a good 10 minutes. Cried for my experience as an obese person, cried for the struggles of life post-op, cried because I WORKED HARD for this dang it, and I have finally arrived. People...I have FINALLY arrived! Sorry for the crappy picture! My husband "cleaned it" with something that was not Windex...and I have yet to purchase a full length mirror! Isn't crazy how our past obesity still rules us even after we've shed the weight. Ugh! I am going to go and buy a full length mirror today! -
Care to share?

Aweeee thank you Dub! Yeah I'm still in cloud 9 regarding all the NSV'S in the last few days I have just very recently started to lose my hair too but I don't think it'll be bad. In all honesty I am not too worried about it. There are far more things to be (more) worried about and with the crap I went thru last year - this is nothin' babeeee If losing my hair means I'm losing weight, getting healthier and becoming the person I feel like on the inside, so be it. It's short term and it'll grow back - losing weight far "outweighs" losing hair, IMHO. no worries my friend! You got this! Don't sweat the small stuff! Keep doing awesome Heather -
WOW!!! And CONGRATS!!! I know and understand what a GREAT feeling it is to be in AWE when you realize that you and your daughter are wearing the same size. At the beginning of this school year, when my daughter and I were out shopping, we stopped at the Guess store to buy new jeans. We ended up buying the exact same jeans, at the exact same size; the only difference that mine are regular length and hers are short. I was in ABSOLUTE disbelief. Anyway, congrats on your AMAZING NSV!!!

Had my best NSV today!
fernandfj replied to grandmaofone's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Congrats This type of NSV definitely shows the hard work pays off! I also tried on some clothes I had hoped would be good in the future yesterday (36 waist pants) and they all fit!!!!! In fact I returned the 38 waist pants I ordered with them! Considering I started at a 50, it feels great! -
A huge NSV that I had to have explained to me.....
heather5565 replied to heather5565's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Another NSV..... I fit into size 14's now!!! Wahoooooo This has been a good week! -
@sassyfrass23. Thank you very much. WLS can be highly effective if you follow the plan before & during.....and I assume, AFTER. The results are surreal at times. The part that really will make you laugh is when you go shopping for clothes and don't know where to start.....you gravitate towards your older sizes but the sales folks in the stores steer you towards the smaller sizes you actually need. Wild experience. Check out @@heather5565 experience last weekend.....how cool is this ? !!!!!!!!! http://www.bariatricpal.com/topic/360684-a-huge-nsv-that-i-had-to-have-explained-to-me/?hl=+explained LMAO and high-fives for her. As far as hair loss......it's not something to worry about long term. Easy for a dude to say this....if it gets really bad I'll just break out the razor, right ? Just kidding....it'll be temporary and taking the supplements & getting my Protein is about all I can really do about it. Unless there is a bariatric shampoo.............

NSV + "oh my goodness" moment!
Elode replied to Elode's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
@@katladee Thank you so much! I did wear those legging, out of the house and in public and everything! First time in public. I think this summer I'm going to pass those boots of. Like the traveling pants on boots. They were my first NSV. The one I wanted the most and now they're too big around the legs but I still love them. They need to go to someone else on this journey who will love them as much as I do/did. -
OMGoodness!!!!!OMGoodness!!!! I just did a happy dance around the whole entire house!!!! I just tried on a pair of capris I bought for this summer. I was thinking by then I "might" be able to fit them. Guess what they fit!!!!! I had to pull my very large oversized shirt out of the way but I snapped a picture of me wearing them. By the way, I have not worn this size since middle school, maybe 6 and 7th grade?!?!? I am just so excited that I had to shout it out to the world!!! I am finally seeing a light at the end of the tunnel as I only have 12 more pounds to lose!!!

So we had this dinner in our community for the Fire Department (My hubby is on the department). Anyway I wanted to wear something nice so I went shopping and picked out some Miss Me Skinny Jeans and a super cute top to wear. The sales lady was super supportive and helped me pick the right size of jeans (hey, I'm not in my 20s anymore and I have no idea what all these weird sizes are) Anyway, I got home with my size 29 jeans and proceeded to do laundry and pick up the house. While folding my step-daughter's clothes I noticed that her skinny jeans from Miss Me are a size 28 and she is a tiny stick figure. I can hardly believe that we are only one size apart in jeans. It sort of blows my mind a little bit. So knowing that I had to go online and do a size comparison and found out that I am now a size 7/8. That is the weirdest thing I have ever seen in my entire life. In my eyes I still feel like I am a size 16/18 but I guess in the world of Miss Me I am a 7/8. Heck, I'll take it any day of the week! PS - Rocked the party
