  1. HI, It will all come together soon. Take time to heal. Take care of your needs and see they are met. This is a huge life change and many will help you along the way as they have helped me. I would not feel the way I do if it were not for the people posting me notes and letters of encouragement along the way. I still feel like a newbie and there is always something new to learn. Be kind to yourself and you will feel better in no time. My biggest boost has been staying positive throughout this entire journey. Because every other wt loss journey has been so bad. This is the way to go. Best wishes. imaluckydog

  2. Hi. I jus wanted to let u know u can definately see the difference of ur weight loss.

  4. Thanks for following up- you look great- I visited your blog. I have been stuck for 2 1/2 weeks with no weight loss or gain- started exercising and have actually dropped inches and not pounds- maybe because I am building muscle??? No idea- finally stayed off the scale for a week and when I weighed- low and behold I was down 4 pounds!!! Going in on 10/07/09 for a fill and looking forward to it- getting too much room again and can mow down quite a bit of food, but making better choices so I hope to keep steadily losing:tongue_smilie:- good luck and I will continue to check up on you also!

  5. well i've lost alot of inches and 13 lbs. I'm 197 now and in my 16 jeans. I was almost in a 20, so very exciting. I go back again to Dr. Roye on Oct. 16th. He wants to wait until i'm real foods to see how my weight loss is before doing a fill. So i'm fill-less.LOL. I was walking alot and been lazy(aka. workin too much) so i have a wedding this sunday and have a really cute dress that i bought. So want to just exercise so i feel better than in the dress. So how much have you lost total so far. 1-2 lbs is great. Glad your doing so well. LOVE my band too. TTYS

  6. yep, the first few days i was hubgry all the time, but i have learned it is easier to not eat real food until dinner, use the three protein shakes until then, seems once i eat then i am more wanting to eat food. I miss dt coke and i miss cheetos, but know this is going to be a life change i will have to adjust to!

I have not told but a few close people i work with and my husband, as i do not want people watching ad commmenting on what i eat, when i eat, etc! I guess my worst fear is to "cheat" on the pre diet and then have them open the lap and have to close it due to not enough loss around the liver!

  7. Thank you Vmack2001, for your comment on the blog. I will try to do everything the doc says because I heard if you throw up a lot your band could slip. Thats another thing I'm affraid of. Congratulations on you 38lb weight loss. I would like to be your friend.

  8. Congratulations on your surgery and subsequent weight loss. Work hard and stay dedicated.

  9. Hi Karen, congratulations on your progress with weight loss. This is my first time on this thread. I sure would like to elaborate my entries, but I have no clue.

  11. stumbled accross your page today. How have you been doing? Hope all is well. From the posts below it looks as if your weight loss has been going good. Tami

  12. Hey thanks for checking in..it always helps to remember that you are not doing this alone! I think I am at a stall, for the past few weeks I have managed to gain and lose the same 2-3lbs but I cant get it off to stay off! I know it is my fault bc I can come up with a thousand excuses not to exercise but I really need to get back in gear! How are you doing and how much have you lost so far? Sounds like you are doing pretty good maintaining a steady weight loss....its always better than gaining! Good luck

  13. It took forever for me to notice my weight loss and everyone around me was like what the hell are you blind. Body image is so weird and honestly I think people look at me I am still 260....it is very weird transistion and I struggle with it everyday. I am really hard on myself too! I just had emergency gallbladder surgery and had my band all the way unfilled two weeks ago...I have gained 8 pounds and I started my period too. I had a really unhealthy weight loss and I lost about half my hair so trust me gradual is better...you have beautiful hair and you will want to keep it! You just need to keep on going girl and it will be a great feeling when you hit goal. How much have you lost?

  14. Hi george.. Hows Vegas? we are still planning a trip in May next year, so I will still see if we can arrange a reunion for bandsters- it will be funny dont you think? hows your wieght loss going by the way- I have just stayed the same now for a good few mnths and am going to try to get back ontrack

  15. P.S. Don't stress not one ioda of a second over your appointment w/Dr. B... #1 he is a very sweet man & a wonderful surgeon #2 you are not going through any different a struggle (as far as your weight loss is concerned) than anyone else who has been banded and this is only a foot step toward where you will be in no time. The time since your sugery is when your body is to be healing and they (even Dr. C) are not looking for you to be losing huge chunks of weight. They are looking for you to heal and be healthy. The tough times as far as your weight loss will come after your body has healed, you have been filled and you begin to struggle with plateaus and failing motivation. He will be proud of how far you have come and the progress you and your body have made in recovering from this major surgery despite your personal difficulties! :) He will be far from disappointed!

  16. I am sorry it has taken me 5 days to reply... I think I was hoping I would find some perils of wisdom for you about your situation. As far as the weight loss goes, unfortunately you have just experienced one of the pitfalls you and I have spoken of in the past... where after surgery and each fill I too have gained weight back upon starting soft foods. The body is an amazing and frustrating thing! I can completely understand and sympathize with your stress/depression issue causing it hard to stay focused on your new way of life.

  17. Hi all! Wanted to share some before and 3 months after pics with everybody. Take a look. This band journey is a strange thing.:huh2: One day I can eat and the next day 2 bites will do me at one sitting. Throwing up has been more of a common thing than I thought it would be. Still a little bruised feeling at the port site  and have had more gas in the last 3 months than EVER before. I go in next week for my 4th fill. And I am going to ask about these issues. Total wieght loss has been 30 pds! :tongue2: For once in my life the scale is going down not up!! :tt1: I'm lovin it! Can't wait till the next 30 pds goes away. Then I feel I will REALLY see it! And that's when others will really see the true effects of the band~! I had a lot of "bulk" on me and that's the 30 pds that's missing! If you have any suggestions or props, let me know. Always love to hear from you. :rolleyes2:

  18. Yes I had the surgery, but I havent really lost any weight yet. Its kind of depressing, but I get my second fill on Friday and I am hoping to get some restriction and weight loss from there.

  19. Ivy, I'm glad you are doing well. The gas pain will lessen after a full week or so. I stuck to the liquid phase for 2 weeks. I had chicken broth, protein shots and jello. I stayed in bed most days of week one. I wasn't hungry, but did not want to be tempted so I stayed away form the kitchen. My family was great the first week. They ate out so as not to add to the temptation to want what they were having. It was not a bad time, especially when the scale was showing weight loss.

What are you having on the liquid phase and how long do you remain on that stage?

  20. you look so great !! i love your since of fashion . you dress way too cute ! congrats on you loss =)

  21. Oh the waiting game is so much fun isn't it? LOL. Everything is good on my end. I had a rough weekend, I had a baptism and a wedding so lets just say I had a few more calaries than I should have. But no worries back on track today. Other than that all is good, I really want to get another fill. I'm going to try to get to the doctor just to weigh in. This sounds crazy but I hope its not a big loss, cause then my doctor won't give me that fill. I think I explained what happened to me before. So we'll see, I'm gonna try to go on wednesday if he's in. How are you holding up other than that.

  22. I would like to find out if the band is effective tool for weight loss kaiser is more for the gastric bypass, or the sleeve i'd rather have the lap band since it has less complications any suggestions?

  23. Hi Bobbie, I am doing okay. So far, I have had three fills; the last being under fluoro, I was a bit disappointed with that one, because my second fill, which was done blind was 0.5 cc. Then it was only 0.5 cc during the fluoro fill. So, I am currently up to 4 cc in my 9 cc band. Still not feeling restriction. I spent 7 weeks after surgery stuck at a 9 pound loss. I upped my cardio work outs to 45 minutes to an hour on the treadmill, going from 2.5 miles to 3 miles each time. So, I really believe this is ONLY why I am starting to lose weight. I am now down to 233.2. Surgery day I was 248.8. I have another appointment for another fill on October 5th, but am hoping sooner. I don't eat as much as I did preop, but I am still able to eat too much. I usually get hungry about 2 to 2.5 hours after I eat. So, hoping the next fill will bring me more restriction! Hey my email address is Pjones4052@yahoo.com. Anytime you need me. :)

  24. Hi Shasta1

I feel much better now that I have lost over 100 pounds in 1 year. I started looking into weight loss surgery over 10 years ago but my insurance would never cover it. Once I had a BMI over 50 they finally did. I was 5'6" and 375 pounds. I still hired beliteweight.com to get me through all the red tape with bc/bs insurance. There was a lot more of a wait for the gastric bi-pass surgery. I was in a hurry and opted for the gastric lap band. I was chicken for the drastic bi-pass. There was less of a wait for the band. I could always opt for the bi-pass later if the band didn't work. They put me on a liquid protein diet for 3-4 weeks prior to surgery to shrink my liver.

The lap band and gastric bypass has a diet to stick with so it is not easy and dieting free as I thought it would be. I automatically eat smaller portions of what I did eat before. It is a lot like the South Beach one with mostly protein, vegetables, low carbs and no "slider foods".

  25. Thankx for the advice hun, What makes this soo crushing is I am a professional hairstylist.. AVEDA specialist and I know I always advised my clients on ways to prevent and deal with this issue. I shop at distributers weekly and I am gonna try the nioxin. So the vitamins you bought at sephora huh? Do they really work? A friend of mine recommended HAIR a supplement from walgreens. I get all kinds of info. I am the one that makes everyone beautiful and now I feel like I cant keep my own composure. Thanx again I appreciate it
