  1. hi all! i am a week behind you guys as my surgery was the 27th! i am also struggling with getting in liquids and Protein. I've been putting some unflavored powder in just about everything i can and i also ordered the GENEPRO this week as the scoop is much smaller. luckily my plan allows me to start soft foods on tueday so hopefully that helps! I'm SO ready.
  2. Please read the Genepro thread on here. It doesn't have 30 g of protein per scoop, it actually has 10g. They claim its 3x more bio available so it's EQUIVALENT to 30g of another brand, but the science is questionable or at least unverified by independent research. Just FYI. I can't do premier either before or after surgery. Tastes plastic to me. I use Syntrax and BSN powders and the occasional premade Atkins or GNC Lean.
  3. For protein I use Genepro cuz its 30g of protein in 1 scoop. You can mix it into anything. Soups, oatmeal, coffee, water, etc. Pretty much anything. It has made it alot easier for me to get my protein requirements in because I am not a fan of sweets. I checked with my dietitian and she said it's good. 4. GENEPRO and unjury unflavored I have found that both of these are good as far as not changing the flavor, but they do change the texture for me which is unpalatable to me. Not disagreeing, but just to contrast...I can't detect any texture change with genpro, but Unjury tastes AND feels weird to me. If you can get a sample or borrow a scoop from someone in your support group, do that. Everyone's taste/sensitivity is different.
  5. The Genepro says it stimuates insulin.... isnt this what causes dimping?
  6. I bought GENEPRO on Amazon, Because of some threads on BP. Everyone was raving about it! I was using unflavored Bariatric Advantage and believe me, you could taste it and had to use 2 large scoopes!!! The Genepro is great, only a tiny amount packs a lot of protein and you can't taste it. I've use it in so many things now, it's a great find! any November 2017 sleevers?

I can’t do the shakes at all. It isn’t just the taste, but they make me queazy. My doctor approve for me to do these instead - see GenePro flavorless protein and Bariatric Choice Liquid protein (I like the berry flavor). Amazon delivers them fast if you are a prime member Or you can pay a little extra for delivery.

    Scared to death....

Hello mindylouho I always tried to keep a happy face about my surgery (Oct.8th) I always try to uplift everyone I respond to. But these last few days have been trying I need some of that uplift. This year has been an awareness to a lot of medical problems just developed this year. Yesterday I went for my pre-op. First of all I was there all day(didn't expect that). Took an EKG, and the doctor tells me it was abnormal looks like I had a heart attack. So now I have to go to and have a stress test. My granddaughter just got a cold (she lives with me), my CPAP machine (don't have). Why? The doctor office never gave the medical company the needed information (from July). My instructions for my stress test,"no caffeine or caffeine free products". WHAT! I'm already on a liquid diet, my Protein is chocolate both of them (although I do use GENEPRO it's great). This bit of information is just to say at the end of the day I started to think that maybe these were signs that I shouldn't get the surgery. But then I realized maybe some of the medical problems were due to the diabetes I have. Hopefully, this will stop or get rid of some of the problems I could possibly get in the future. So with that being said, think about the reasons you wanted the surgery. And embrace those thoughts. See talking to you has made me feel better. Good luck to both of us and I will see you on our journey.
  9. I would be careful of GENEPRO.. I haven't found any unbiased research on it. 30 gr of Protein in one TBS seems too good to be true. I like unjury. I have all the favors. The chicken Soup isn't the best but for a protein soup it works. The strawberry is good mixed with lemon crystal light. I Doctor up the vanilla and chocolate with syrups, fruit or PB2. The unflavored is good in recipes
  10. Does the genepro have any sugar like substance at all? I don't like the fake sugar that is used either but I need more protein. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G928A using the BariatricPal App

    Protein Shakes & what kind/Brand

Hello, I have tried a couple different brands and found that my favorite is the Premier Protein shake in chocolate. An 11 oz serving has 30 grams of protein. It's a good shake, doesn't taste chalky at all. You can find them at quite a few different stores including Walmart and Sam's Club, with Sam's Club carrying the 12 pack for a really good price. For unflavored Protein powder, I have tried GENEPRO, unjury and Isopure. So far, taste wise, I like Genepro the best, but was disappointed when I heard that Genepro's claims of 30 grams of protein per serving may not be true. My nutritionist said to stay away from Genepro. Therefore, out of the three brands that I've tried, Unjury and Isopure are my favorites. I used them in the full liquid stage after surgery.... mixed them in my cream of celery Soup. Now at 12 weeks post op, I still use the unflavored protein powder in my iced decaf unsweet tea. Tastes great. Hope that helps.
  12. Genepro has absolutely saved me. Is it the best option compared to real protein? Probably not.... But I can put it in hot decaf fixated tea and it completely dissolves. I still drink 2 cups a day - each scoop is 30 G protein. Take care and know it gets better.

    2 weeks post missing food

Remember, fluids are the most important thing for us right now (I was sleeved 6/2), but there are good ways to get protein in without the shakes. Do you have any of the protein powders? I have two different powders: Isopure Zero Carb Vanilla - 25g protein per scoop, and GENEPRO tasteless powder, 30g protein per scoop. The Genepro is really spendy, so I use it sparingly - mostly using the Isopure. You can get them both through Amazon. Here are three of the things I've been eating: Super Milk Pudding: SF pudding (I like cheesecake flavor) make up with 2c skim milk and 2/3 c powdered skim milk. Makes 8 servings 1/4 c each. You can add a scoop of vanilla protein powder if you want to amp up the protein. Without the powder it's 3g of protein per 1/4 cup (which is a great amount, I've found). If I add the protein powder, it doubles the protein to 6g. Cream of Wheat or Cream of Rice: Cook cereal according to package directions. Dissolve 1 scoop protein powder in 1/4c milk. Stir into hot cereal. Mix in 1/8 t cinnamon and one MINI squeeze of Stevia (if that - I found it too sweet so next time I'm leaving out the Stevia altogether). This makes 2 servings 1/2 cup each. It slides right down and has 15g of protein in each of the 2 servings. Broth: Heat 1 c broth (homemade or canned low sodium) and mix in 1 scoop Genepro tasteless protein powder. 30g protein in the one cup. Anybody else have any good ideas / recipes for "full liquid" recipes???? I have 3 flavors of isopure. I also have muscle milk. I am on liquids only so no pudding or cream of wheat (thanks tho, they will come in handy next week). I have gotten in all my required protein and all my fluids by 6 PM. I was hoping that Protein Shakes would fill me up for an hour or so but my stomach seems to pass them on as if they are Water. May have to call dietician on Monday.

    Genepro Protein?

I love GENEPRO! I mix it in crystal light. If you don't believe it has the 30 gram double up. If it makes you feel better. I love it because all the other proteins make me nauseous . This mixes in and has no taste at all.

    Genepro Protein?

From the GENEPRO website: "The combination of the Tri-Protein and the way it is processed along with the addition of protease enzymes, allows for the equivalent of a 30gram** (we haven't broken the laws of physics with getting a 15g weight to equal 30g in weight but with the absorbability/bioavailability value of Genepro Gen2 you are getting the equivalent of the same 30g serving size of regular whey protein) serving of protein with only a 1 TBSP serving size." They also recently published a Genepro Gen2 Clinical Study.
  16. I need ideas of what I can put this GENEPRO Protein in...please help! "We're On This Journey Together!"
  17. Report away! No personal attack at all, just factual and truthful reply to A RUDE POSTING! LOL! What ever goes on, the truth hurts unfortunately and LOTS of people would rather pop off with an attitude in response to the truth instead of receiving the truth and doing something with it to improve thier lives and condition. Posting a tick tock reply with rude sentiment isnt a personal attack? Thats some more of that defensive EMOTIONAL response that will keep people like that in a vicious cycle that will never be broken until they face the facts, period. So you think its a one way street here when it comes to these postings? If, so part of the problem and not helping to find a solution. My inital posting was serious and meant to help people struggling to understand the Genepro thing so they could get on with being healthy! I didnt come out of the blue with defensive postings but i wont sit around and let 12,000 plus poster be rude to me because they think they can and again, all ive done in replying to that member is state the truth and facts. Sorry if the truth and facts bother you.
  18. Court ruled and they changed the label and UCLA medical center and LOTS of other Dr's recommend the GENEPRO protein above all others! Thats a fact! Label has been changed on GENEPRO 3 and old label states it is equivalent too what you would absorb out of 30 grams of protein via whey protein. Protein is solid and labelling stunk so it was changed! LOL! 30 grams of whey protein will only net you approx 10 grams of protein as the absorption rate is horrible! 1 tablespoon nets you over 10 grams of protein that will actually be absorbed by your body vs ingesting 30 grams of whey that your body will expel over 60% of! WHY WOULD YOU PUT YOUR BODY THRU THAT? LOL!
  19. Genepro is endorsed and recommended by many medical facilities, including UCLA School of Medicine to all their bariatric patients. The science is sound but people believe whatever they want to believe. http://surgery.ucla.edu/workfiles/bariatrics/healthy-eating/UCLA-Post-Op-Diet-Updated-2021.pdf
  20. They were sued for labeling that was confusing/misleading and it went to court and there was a judgement reached. Your ignorance and attitude is more then likely how you ended up where you did. As another member here replied: "UCLA recommends GENEPRO to all their patients" so i guess you are smarter and possess more knowledge then the staff and Dr's at UCLA medical center? Lose your attitude and open your mind and you might be a lot happier in your life...or maybe not as you might just be one of those miserable people that point their finger at everybody else instead of looking in the mirror when it comes to their issues. ??? Good luck to you!
  21. If you READ the postings properly then would know that your own member TOMO stated that the UCLA med center recommends GENEPRO to ALL their bariatric patients and they also posted the link to UCLA backing their claim! I didnt state that fact...TOMO did. Again, If you READ the postings then you would know that i have never used GENEPRO protein nor do i know anybody affiliated with the company, but i do know two people that have used this product with with great success and have read about dozens more on this very website. My initial posting was about all the false garbage and plain false statements being made about the product. I did read up on the company and the entire lawsuit and the courts findings as well so i do know what true and whats not. Again, If you read the postings you would know i dont bully but i wont BE bullied either and the truth hurts sometimes! Im taking care of business and im helping people all the time to get healthy and fit with zero kick back to me other then Im always happy to see people achieve happiness in their lives and being PHYSICALLY FIT always, always helps people to be happy! Piss and moan all you want...insult all you want and tell us all about how you know everything about everything when it comes to nutrition and health because YOU HAVE BEEN A NURSE FOR 20 YEARS, yet you have your own health issues? You should slow down your negativity yourself and go for a walk to work off some of that...negativity. Soon to be fit??? Your are a nurse so you of all people should know that when it comes to getting fit, waiting around for magic beans wont do you any good at all...get after it and put the work in. Hope all goes well for you and i hope you are able to get rid of all that... negative and hostile anxiety. As far as trolling goes...you are the one spouting nonsense and misinformation, not me. God Bless!
  22. For all you September Sleevers just like me on FB look for September Sleevers 2017... it's a place you can share your thoughts, concerns, and be supportive with each other. I was sleeved on 9/15 everything was smooth for me no meds after the hospital for me. I am able to write my elliptical and on purée foods I started 218 and at 203 right now. The only problem I had was I couldn't stand my shakes so I ended up buying genepro from GNC it literally has no taste and 30 grams on protein per scoop. You can add it to your water, soup, broth basically anything... Good Luck Sleevers! We got this!![emoji3]

    Getting protein in post-op

FOCUS on your FLUIDS!!! Your protein will come as you get further out. You definitely want to get your water in, it doesn't take us long to become dehydrated. As far as the Protein Drinks, they have a Hot Chocolate thru BariatricPal and it as 15grams of protein in it. They also sell Chicken Noodle Soup (I just didn't eat the noodles myself) it also has 15grams of protein. My favorite is GENEPRO also sold on BariatricPal. It is the only unflavored Protein I have found that I can handle. I would hate to find out how much $$ I actually paid for Protein that I couldn't handle. My nephew uses Protein, so at least my $$ wasn't totally wasted!! KEEP ON KEEPING ON!!!
  24. Genepro has an unflavored medical grade protein. That is 30 grams per table spoon. It can easily be stirred into sugar free pudding which would give you plenty of protein per meal or try it in crystal light to do double duty in raising your protein and getting your fluids for the day. Donna
  25. It's only 15 grams of protein since it is impossible to get 30 grams of anything into a 15 gram scoop. Search this forum for genepro. It comes up often. Just my .02 cents though so take it for what it's worth.
