I bought a gummy multi Vitamin with a little Fiber from Walmart, bought Calcium and Iron chewable from Celebrate Vitamins. I stocked up on different pre-made broths. I bought a taste-free protein add-in called GENEPRO on Amazon(to add to any water, broths,Gatorade I can tolerate post-op) and found that I like a Protein shake from Arbonne Essentials. I just ordered the nectar sample pack from Syntax yesterday, 18 different flavors to try. A veteran from this site told me to have something on hand for the surgical incisions, like tips, neosporin, gauze and paper tape. Also, bring a pillow to hold over your stomach for the jolts on the ride home. I need to get some sugar-free Jello cups and sf popsicles (if I can keep the Hubs out of them!). I know this sounds like a lot, but we live rural and if I don't have it at the house, it takes an act of congress to get it! I get a little nuts about being prepared, my control issues run deep!

I’m on day 5 today and it’s much easier getting my protein in. I struggled day 3 and phoned the nurse. I barely got anything down because it hurt under my breast bone as if the liquid was getting stuck. The nurse told me to just keep trying as it would get easier. Day 4, yesterday was much easier and I was able to finish 2 protein shakes! Today I had a premiere protein shake for breakfast which takes several hours to get.down. I also had about 3 oz of Fairlife nonfat milk - that tasted delicious. Then for lunch I had broth from homemade broth soup which I cooked carrots, celery and other veggies in. I then strained it using cheese cloth and drank just the broth. I added 1 scoop (30 gr protein) of Genepro medical grade protein powder (which doesn’t change the taste). It tasted so good! The broth will be my dinner too. I feel so much better today. Days 2-3 were pretty rough going and am glad I’m past that. Scdaniec...hang in there. It’ll get better. But if you seriously are lacking in the fluids you should phone the surgery nurse.

Yes Genepro is a life saver. I use it in all kinds of stuff.

From the GENEPRO website: "The combination of the Tri-Protein and the way it is processed along with the addition of protease enzymes, allows for the equivalent of a 30gram** (we haven't broken the laws of physics with getting a 15g weight to equal 30g in weight but with the absorbability/bioavailability value of Genepro Gen2 you are getting the equivalent of the same 30g serving size of regular whey protein) serving of protein with only a 1 TBSP serving size." They also recently published a Genepro Gen2 Clinical Study.

I need ideas of what I can put this GENEPRO Protein in...please help! "We're On This Journey Together!"

I love GENEPRO! I mix it in crystal light. If you don't believe it has the 30 gram double up. If it makes you feel better. I love it because all the other proteins make me nauseous . This mixes in and has no taste at all.

First 2-3 days were definitely awful. I literally dreamt about food. I don't hate my protein shakes but I don't like how much I had to drink. I ended up making a lot of soup and just adding Genepro flavorless protein powder in (60 calories w/ 30g of protein). That helped a ton. Though admittedly I was on a 2 wk pre-op liquid and 2 wk post-op liquid and I still can't stomach the idea of soups anymore.

"unflavored" protein to mix with coffee?
crazyplantlady replied to crazyplantlady's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks guys! I looked at both and decided to get GENEPRO. Hopefully the money didn't go to waste! -
I was sleeved on Feb 17th as well. Haven't looked back! Down 28 pounds as of today...15 pre-op and 13 post-op. Took 11 days off work. All good except I do struggle with getting enough protein but ordered some Genepro from Amazon yesterday. I've heard it is truly tasteless and can be added to anything. Has anyone used it?? Glad to have found this site!

I too am 4 months out and use Genepro daily. I make fruit smoothies every morning and add two scoops in them. I also add one scoop to my coffee and anything else is a bonus with my food intake! (which isn't much). You can order it on amazon or genepro.com

How can I increase my protein intake during the first four weeks post op...?
BellaLuce4 replied to Jorrin's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I bought GENEPRO on Amazon, Because of some threads on BP. Everyone was raving about it! I was using unflavored Bariatric Advantage and believe me, you could taste it and had to use 2 large scoopes!!! The Genepro is great, only a tiny amount packs a lot of protein and you can't taste it. I've use it in so many things now, it's a great find! New Whey Liquid Protein! It's a miracle!!
coyote replied to BettyBoop86's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
I bought New Whey in grape from GNC and I love it! I'm 6 months out so I can handle solid protein just fine but I'll drink a half bottle to reach 80g protein. I was using unflavored GenePro and eventually got to where the smell and taste was making me nauseated. What flavors have you tried and which one is your favorite? -
Liquid diet suggestions
CanyonBaby replied to amacox's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@@Kindle I talked with (and brought the package to her) my dietician about GENEPRO, which she had never seen before. Apparently there really are no regulatory standards for these types of things, like any supplement, no testing or anything. She had wondered if the type of processing actually turned the Protein into an amino acid, as it is broken down so much (thus the 30g of protein in a 15g serving). Hard to say. I am using up what I have, have used it for a few months along with regular unflavored whey protein, with no negative results. It IS nice to have a smaller amount go in the glass, BUT using the regular stuff is ok by me, too, and I think a little cheaper. Hope you have a great day! -

I'm struggling with muscle loss.
BigViffer replied to highfunctioningfatman's topic in Fitness & Exercise
GENEPRO is crap. You want to have Protein traces in your blood for the check ups, that's fine. You want to maintain or build muscle, use whey. Sent from my phone. Please forgive brevity and spelling. -

Question for people who use Genepro protein powder
Okiebon replied to Amyly2n's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
Has anyone actually had blood work done to check their Protein levels since starting on GENEPRO? I mean lab results from your own doctor that show it works as they claim it does? I'm interested, but their claims sound too good to be true. I don't want to take it thinking I'm getting the protein my body needs after bypass surgery and then find out it's all a sham. But I haven't seen one review yet that's supported by factual evidence of protein levels in the body after taking the product for any length of time. Have you had any other noticeable results (or problems) since you started taking Genepro? -
Question for people who use Genepro protein powder
CheleLynn45 replied to Amyly2n's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
I received my two samples and mixed one pouch into my unsweetened decaf iced tea and with every sip I tried to see if there was a difference but really could not tell. My surgery is October 27th and any Protein with any kind of artificial sweeteners in it upsets my tummy and gives me a headache. I have never been able to drink anything with artificial sugars in them. My husband and daughter LOVE all those flavored Water drops and I cannot stomach them. I had no reaction after drinking my tea with the GENEPRO in it. Whew!! I am hoping this will help me out once I am past my liquid phase of my post op diet. I am going to choke down the premiere protein RTD this week before surgery for my pre op diet, but probably won't use them afterwards. -
Someone here posted about GENEPRO unflavored Protein powder. You can add it to anything. I'm on pureed foods so I mix a scoop of that in to whatever I'm eating and that helps me get to the right number of grams. It is so hard to get down 60 g protein and 64 ounces of Water a day. I feel like I'm constantly trying to force something down. My surgery date was 11/19. It's getting easier though and the Genepro helped. I even add it to bouillon, mix it in the nutribullet and that way I get extra fluids in.

Why is everything sweet?
doppelganger replied to doppelganger's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
After a lot of Googling this subject I found a product called GENEPRO. It takes half the amount that you need of other products for the same quantity of Protein because they put it thru a process that takes all the excess unnecessay byproducts out. It also mixes easier because of this and as far as taste, I myself barely taste it. I have mixed it in cold and hot drinks and foods and it mixes very easily. I am very impressed with this product. Sent from my LG-E980 using the BariatricPal App I looked this up and consulted my surgeons office and they have signed off on Genepro and recommend it. Unfortunately, it is not listed in any of the materials we were given as an option!! Also, I did force down a Priemere Protein shake yesterday which left me bloated and feeling crappy. During the same phone call asking about Genepro I mentioned this and was told if protein were on a grading scale of A-F my Dr's office looks at Priemere as a 'D'... Why in the hell not mention that? It's like they get an unjury kickback. Everything I've read is as above, barely able to taste it and the same protein content using half the product. I ordered mine from Amazon and it should get here tomorrow. In the meantime I was told JRobb and nectar are good alternatives and single packets are available at The Vitamin Shoppe. Thanks to everyone for their help it is so appreciated. -
I'm struggling with muscle loss.
BigViffer replied to highfunctioningfatman's topic in Fitness & Exercise
@@JodiT140 - @@OutsideMatchInside pretty much got it right. According to the makers of GENEPRO, they have reduced the size of the Protein molecule ala "Honey I Shrunk The Kids" magic. Then they say that what they really did was make a protein that absorbs so fast that it is "like" eating 30 grams of protein. Which again is horseshit. Another problem I have is that there is no verified independent study of the stuff. There are people on this board that swear by it because their blood test came back good after their 6 month or whatever. However unless you are talking more than a year, that could be from breaking down their own muscle tissue or the fact that they are getting the minimum needed from their diet to be in the normal range. Genepro is pretty much just BCAA's (amino acids that build proteins). That would leave protein markers in the bloodstream. But lets just say for a moment that it did exactly as it advertised. It gave you 30 grams of magical protein with only 90 calories. If you are trying to build muscle, believe it or not you are going to need the calories. You can't build new muscle tissue if you don't have enough raw material to prevent atrophy. Genepro would be of no use to anyone wanting to build muscle because it doesn't contribute to a caloric surplus. -
Just a heads up - if anyone is interested in the GENEPRO, if you contact them on their website they'll mail you a sample for free. Just like carol, I didn't believe it was going to actually be flavorless, so I didn't want to drop the $$$ on a test. Luckily the sample came and amazed me. I mix it with cold Water and use some water enhancers to make it whatever flavor I want to.
