I haven't counted calories
LaceyFace replied to rushunda's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have no issues with getting my protein in. I drink premier protein shakes and I found this amazing tasteless odorless protein powder called genepro. They sell it on amazon. Kinda pricey but it's 30 grams of protein for only a tablespoon! It's soooo much better than the huge scoops from the other brands and it has more grams of protein. You can also put it in hot or cold! I put it in everything. Coffee , eggs, and shakes to name a few. I actually just made an awesome pumpkin pie protein shake....have to be creative to keep my head hunger happy and still lose the pounds! Plus I don't want to lose my hair!! I hope this helps!! Good luck! -
@@amylynns yay welcome to the other side! Everyone thanks for the encouragement, I went out and got sf popsicles, my god they are soooooo good. I am going to try milk with chocolate syrup and genepro, I bought sf hot chocolate too, and cream of chicken tomorrow I will mix genepro with consomme my mom makes my son which is soo yummy. I was really breaking down but I'm back now! Gladiators don't quit! Now I need to watch these popsicles because I had 2 and I'm fillllled.

I was getting a Herbalife shake in the morning and adding my Protein to it. I thought I was doing good and getting in 60 grams of protein. Then my NUT told me that your body can only absorb 25 grams of protein at one time. I needed to spread my protein out more through the day. I also was on a long stall.....checked the Herbalife (I was getting a Chunky Monkey).....according to My Fitness Pal it had 50 grams of carbs!!!!! I just use GENEPRO to get most of my protein in now.

Pre-Op Whey Protein Isolate / shakes?
BeagleLover replied to nprcowboy's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
100% Protein isolate is best because it is the one most absorbable. unjury and Syntrax nectar are very good and don't taste like medicine to me. I thought Trader Joe's vanilla would be good because I like their other foods. Wrong! Can't stand it. Another good one, recommended by Johns Hopkins is GENEPRO. I've heard it tastes very good, but haven't tried it yet. -
I take Genepro and I love it... I out itin my V8 juice every morning . Cannot taste it or smell it!!!!

Question for people who use Genepro protein powder
CheleLynn45 replied to Amyly2n's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
I received my two samples and mixed one pouch into my unsweetened decaf iced tea and with every sip I tried to see if there was a difference but really could not tell. My surgery is October 27th and any Protein with any kind of artificial sweeteners in it upsets my tummy and gives me a headache. I have never been able to drink anything with artificial sugars in them. My husband and daughter LOVE all those flavored Water drops and I cannot stomach them. I had no reaction after drinking my tea with the GENEPRO in it. Whew!! I am hoping this will help me out once I am past my liquid phase of my post op diet. I am going to choke down the premiere protein RTD this week before surgery for my pre op diet, but probably won't use them afterwards. -
Love this Protein!
Thinkingthinner1109 replied to Hockey momma's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I love Genepro too. I asked my NUT and she approved. Not sure why she didn't mention it in all the preop meetings I had with her. It truly is the best. No taste and 30 grams of protein in a tablespoon instead of a huge scoop. Can't tell its in whatever it is you decide to put it in and it's so fine it mixes so well. -
Protein...You're making me sick.
BeagleLover replied to NotWishWhen512's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
After 9 days, my surgeon told me I could eat anything I could tolerate, just chew very well. To the folks that hate their shakes, the ones by unjury & Syntrax nectar I found to be pretty good. I also heard good things about MuscleGen Genepro; it is recommended by Johns Hopkins. . -
I really wish I had gotten this before I had the surgery because then I wouldn't have had minimal Protein intake and the gagging of the random milk based shake. MuscleGen GENEPRO Molecular Triprotein Peptide. It is odorless and tasteless although if you dip your finger in and taste it alone...there is some flavor but not unlikable. It mixes better than anything I have ever tried and it has 30G of protein in one small scoop!! I put a half scoop in my morning oatmeal, add another half at lunch into Soup or my cottage cheese, and another scoop between Snacks and dinner and there is my first 60 grams. I am even sneaking it into my kids foods, shhhh! Hockey Momma.

I ordered my unjur.y yesterday, since I'm just finishing up my vanilla Cream Protein mix at home. It was really good...but like $35 a jug, unless I buy 3 jugs. I had bought 2 chocolate and 1 vanilla cream. The chocolate is gross. Maybe once I can mix a banana in with it, it might be alright. But anyway--I hear the unjur.y is amazing! So you got the unflavored one, right? I ordered the vanilla. I still have some of my unflavored GENEPRO protein, so I can keep using that in my broth for now. Glad you had a pretty good day out! And great job planning ahead, knowing your mom was going to be eating a chicken sandwich! (mouth watering again....LOL) I LOVE LOVE your Wonder Woman thermos!!!

@@layknee at my hospital they kept bugging me about my fluids, and trying to bribe me telling me if I do this I can go home. I finally got mad and told them if they are going to discharge me based on my liquids then please leave because I can't get it down yet and your bribes are getting annoying and I feel like you're kicking me out and I'm not ready. The doctor was so annoying and I felt like I was going to explode. At my hosital they didn't do a drip test or anything. I just couldn't drink anything for 24 hours after surgery, then it was the 1oz every hour for 4 hours, then 2oz every hour for 2 hours, then 3oz every hour for 3 hours, then when you could do 4, it was time to be discharged. I couldn't drink protein either. My genepro arrived as I was walking in from the hospital so I got some in today, I made a shake and then mixed genepro with diet snapple. I really feel so full, but I can drink water very fast.

Question for people who use Genepro protein powder
MauiGirl5555 replied to Amyly2n's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
Has anyone found a place that sells samples of the GENEPRO? I would want to try a sample before buying the large bag. I tried the unjury sample of unflavoured...and I couldnt tolerate it ..I tried it in applesauce, cream of wheat and Water...and it didnt work for me. I hope the Genepro is a better option. Thanks -
I mixed the 2oz stage 1 baby bananas with 15 ml vitamins and 15g genepro. My doctor says that the protein supplements a drink also count toward the 60 ounces of liquid I need a day

I've tried a few and lots don't taste too good and the ones that do taste good have tons of sugar but I love the gnc ones choc strawberry vanilla I don't care for the Orange cream by the way they will let u sample the ready to drink ones I asked lol also isopure ready to drink is good expensive tho gnc has great products I shop there get the yearly membership it's 15$ and u get a discount when shopping one or two trips pays for it and they frequently have bogo 50% off sales it's worth it they recommend the big black container gosh I can't recall the brand and the gnc women's lean choc prices are better for the powder and u mix it yourself also they have the shaker bottles with the little metal whisk inside those are awesome u can buy those at bedbathandbeyond too also the gnc powder ones in the white containers have seasonal favors like now they have banana, pumpkin like that I'm still pre op but trying things to see what I can tolerate when I first tried the gnc lean shakes ready to drink I got them at rite aid a local drug store that sells gnc products they had single bottles so I got a couple to try before buying large quantitys they were very friendly and helpful at gnc seemed very knowledgable about what they sell hope this helps also I've read many positive posts here re genepro protein powder check it out at musclegen.com it's a powder u can put in any liquid food or soup hot or cold and doesn't clump smell or taste bad tho I hear it stinks in the pkg lol but not in the food or drink and its a high protein amount and I think only one scoop is needed I plan to try it ok anyway good luck msg me anytime

Question for people who use Genepro protein powder
carolk36 replied to Amyly2n's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
Nope, it's not chalky either. It disappears! I've been told by my NUT to always use whey isolate and not whey concentrate because the isolate is more absorbable so I was concerned that the GENEPRO Protein didn't say either. I sent the info to my NUT and she said the peptide was just a smaller form of the isolate so I was good to go. I told my surgeon's office about it and they now add it to their list of recommended Proteins for new patients. I gave away all the other proteins I had bought because I just couldn't stand the whey smell and taste. Genepro is the only one I use now. I hope it works as well for you! Carol -
Question for people who use Genepro protein powder
DeanieG replied to Amyly2n's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
I have some too but I'm not going to try it until I start my all liquid diet on Nov. 1st. I'm glad to hear that it really doesn't have a taste. I've tried the Premier strawberry and it was awful. I've heard the chocolate & vanilla are better but if the GENEPRO works, then I'll be set. I've also got the unflavored unjury to try. -
Unflavored protein powder?
TEXASLADY52 replied to nessa259's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
GENEPRO http://www.musclegen.net/ .... this is oderless and tasteless and does not clump. You can add it to hot or cold....or just sprinkle over your food. This stuff is great. One tablespoon equals a scoop of whey and has 30 grams of Protein. It is approved by John Hopkins and has 96% absorbtion. You can also order it from Amazon. I fix Crystal Light Lemonade and add a scoop. i have added it to coffee, oatmeal, salad....etc. I am on my fourth bag......love it! I cannot stand all the other protein shakes because of the chaulky taste. I understand you can contact the website and they will send you a sample? -
Question for people who use Genepro protein powder
Amyly2n posted a topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
For people who use the Musclegen GENEPRO powder, what do you mix it with? juice? I get mine in the mail today and I want to be all set to start it tonight or in the morning. I am newly sleeved (2.5 weeks post op) and I have a volume issue. I am wondering if I can dissolve it in maybe like a 1/2 cup or cup of juice and not taste it. Oh, and does it have a particular smell to it? I have had a bad issue with Protein drink smells lately. -
I just want to pass gas that is the focus of my day. Pass gas, drink Water, get Protein in. The gas is in my lower left quadrant. I can feel and hear it burbling around but I can't get it out. Gonna start with baby banana food mixed with GENEPRO.

At 2 weeks I couldn't take the water anymore... I tried V8 low sodium juice... I thought I died and went to heaven ..soooo good... Something to wake up my taste buds. I have half a cup in the morning... I mix my Genepro protein in that. It's tasteless and orderless.
