Loose skin causing pain in tail bone area?
Puffy-no-more posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hey everyone. I have tried to research this but can’t seem to find much info about it and am wondering if anyone else has had to deal with this. I lost 137 pounds since my gastric bypass in feb 2020. I have a lot of loose skin that I’m starting to look into plastics to take care of. But one area that just kind of started bothering me a couple months ago is my butt. I find that I have to be careful how I sit and that I can’t really “rock” from side to side without it feeling like my tailbone is rubbing over something and causing a pinching sort of pain. Like if I’m sitting in my car and we take a turn, your body kind of naturally goes with the turn but I have to hold myself steady or I get this pain. Even laying flat in bed, I can feel this pinching pain and I have to be careful of how I move. I’ve noticed it like I said for a couple of months but it just hit me the other day, is this because of my sagging loose skin back there? Am I crazy? Has anyone else had this issue? I’ve felt this before. if so, I’m wondering, besides manually separating my butt cheeks and skin (tmi sorry) is a butt lift the only way to take care of this? Will a butt lift take care of this? I don’t know but I just wanted to see if y’all had any thoughts on this. thanks in advance! -
RSD: Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy, or Complex Regional Pain Syndrome. It's a problem of the Sympathetic nervous system. It most usually manifests after an injury to the neck or shoulder area. It affects only limbs, and poses no direct threat to life, though if undetected for a prolonged period it can led to paralyisis, even quadraplegia. Simply put it is pain for no good reason. Something that should feel pleasureable is painful. A gentle warm wind upon an affected limb feels like it is immersed in boiling Water. As you can see this causes the patient to feel cut off from loved ones who can no longer hug or caress them. There is no cure, only treatment. The earlier it is diagnosed, the better the rebound will be and the more normal the life the patient will end up living. Patty's RSD is in her right leg, and right arm. Since her shoulder is severely damaged, and there are bone spurs in the joint itself, the arm is difficult to manage. Each little movement will cause an RSD flareup. She has a Neurostimulator in her lumbar and thoracic spine to keep the RSD in check in her right leg. This was necessary as it was very swollen and the swelling couldn't be brought under control. The Tunnelled Epidural Catheter will place powerful pain meds directly on the nerves involved, allowing for a huge dose to the affected area, with only minimal doses for the entire body. This reduces side effects and lets the nerves be directly medicated by steroids and narcs without sending them systme wide and causing more harm to the body than pain relief. MRSA is a type of staph infection that is resistant to antibiotics. So far she has responded well to Vancomycin, and should it become resistant to that, there is at least one more big antibiotic gun to use. If it mutates enough and becomes resistant to all antibiotics death is usually imminent. It is easier to contract it after you've got it once. Probably TMI but these things seem so complex that simple answers don't do them justice. Thanks for asking.

June sleevers?
DallasSleeve replied to Healthier2day1227's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hi everyone! My surgery was June 10th and I have to admit it was pretty rough! My Dr. said the surgery went really well except that they had trouble getting the camera scope down my esphogaus. Apparently, I have a little curve in it so they had to do a lot of wiggling. This led to a lot of chest pain afterwards! I was in recovery for 3 hours because I could not stop vomiting. And it was blue vomit- tmi, I know but did you know the dye they use in surgery was blue? The nausea did not stop there- I threw up and dry-heaved several times the next 2 days, including the barium swallow and the first dose of liquid pain meds. It REALLY hurt every time! I was definitely questioning my decision to have the surgery. BUT, now 6 days out, I am feeling so much better. I've only been on liquid tylenol so I was able to drive yesterday, go to church today and start feeling normal again. And I slept on my side last night! I am excited for this journey and to get to the mushy stage- I'm really having trouble getting in the protein. Can't wait to see how everyone else is doing! -
Ok so I am on day three.. I am allowed full liquids today. For brkfast I had 1/3 cup of protein shake. Then around noon I ate liquidifed homemade veggie soup. At four I had 1/3 cup of oatmeal really runny. After each meal I was stunned to know that I was full. I had a tightness in my chest and I was done. It was so exciteing. That was the first real conformation that I had a BAND!!! hehe I am so sick of being sore. The doctors telling me that he has had pat. go back to work two days after surgery is BS. I am so sore and I can't bend over for anything. I get this hot burning sensation on my left side but its not where the insision is. I guess that is where the port is attached.. I have been tootin up a storm.. Man I keep wondering where all this gas has come from, every five mins I let one rip!!! TMI oh well my journal!! I know I have a few more days of rest but man I am so sick of not getting to excersise. My dd has been doing hers and she wants me to do them with her so bad but I just can't.. I tried to do leg lifts with her and you don't relize how much you use your stomach muscles to lift your legs... My dh sais he is so nervous now because he saw me at the hospital in pain. I told him it would be fine, but hes never had any surgery so he is terrified.. I have meet some awsome people on this site and have made some great friends. Kmo and Lmo are a trip. The three of us have all been banded at the end of july. I think we are going to plan a trip in exactly one year... That would be so fun.... My kids are starving so I guess I need to go feed them....

Tired of Answering the Same Questions Over and Over? - Help Requested for Solution!

I'd add "leaks" constipation and TMI, ladies and boobs. And I second the suggestion that the links should be sent with the welcome email. -
I started out at 235 before surgery and was up to 237.5 afterwards. This morning I am finally down to 230.5 so I can officially say -4.5 lbs. since surgery. Overall I'm doing very well since surgery. When I get in and out of bed there is a particular area that bothers me (stiches) and I believe it is right above the port area. I bruise very easily too so the upper part of my stomach is black and blue. This next information may be TMI for some so don't read. I finally had a bm this morning and feel so much better. Today is the first day of school for me. I am taking Microbiology and a psychology class, the last two classes I need before applying to the nursing program this next January. I can't believe my goal is so close now.

I have been having the same issue so I called my Dr.'s office. They told me that I can take milk of magnesia... I'm having surgery on Tuesday & was concerned about not having gone for like 5 days! TMI, I know.... My diet since Oct. 2nd. has been 3 Protein shakes & 2 diet yogurts... SF Jello/SF popsicles.

Well, after ten years with that damnable device cutting into my head, dripping humidifier Water down my nose while I sleep, giving me sinus infections and blowing so much air into my belly that I wake up with an earth-shattering fart each morning (sorry for TMI, but it's true and you CPAP'ers know what I'm talking about), I may finally be free of the contraption! For you non-CPAP'ers wondering what the big deal is, imagine that you can't just "go to sleep" -- instead you have to set up this big, uncomfortable contraption that also tethers you to a wall socket. You get used to it after a while, but it's always in the back of your head that you can never "just sleep" -- you have to have electricity, you have to have your equipment, and you're always fighting with some hose or strap or something that chafes or tangles you up or leaks. I just got back from a sleep study; my sleep doc ordered a "split night" study where the first half of the night would be without a mask, and the second half with the mask to get my new pressure -- if I needed it. Well, I slept the whole night through without my mask, and although I don't have the official results yet, the sleep tech said that it looked like I was sleeping well without the mask. Even on my back (which is the most challenging sleep position for apnea sufferers). I was definitely dreaming at several points during the night. So I'm pretty sure that this means I'm done with it. HUZZAH! That ALONE justifies the VSG surgery. When I go to Hawaii next month, I won't have to lug the CPAP with me, through the TSA checkpoints, find outlets in the hotel room... etc. etc. etc. And I still have 20 or so pounds to lose, so it's only going to improve if I'm "borderline." I'm so excited! I didn't think it would be possible for me to ever get off the CPAP, and yet here I am!

I had surgery June 8th. I still burp and fart! Both my hubs and I were both sailors (Coast Guard). So, he's not offended like some guys can be. My best friends ex-hubs expected her to run to the bathroom every time she had to pass gas, whether it was a burp or fart. I will say that both feel soooo good, as Rutiglius said. On the rare occasion, I've had both happen at the same times. Hubs calls those Two-for's (two for the price of one), LOL. Ok, maybe a little TMI, but I find humor helps The only time I find it uncomfortable is when I am in public and I have to find a bathroom or someplace non-public. Yes, even though I'm a sailor, I do have manners. I slimmed the first week after surgery. The doc gave me a partial fill during surgery. Between the stomach swelling and the partial fill, I couldn't get anything down. After days 3 and 4 I slimmed every time I ate or drank. It's nasty-icky feeling :smile2:.

Dumping Syndrome with the Sleeve
groovearmada replied to BigGurl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Im sure i had it yesterday. I drank half of a Protein shot quickly. It was really sugary and syrupy. Pretty much straight away, i got funny pains, almost like period pains and i knew i needed the toilet. I had only just been about ahf an hour before. It was more solid than diarreah but felt just like it. sorry tmi! After i had passed it i felt fine. No other symptoms apart from the pains and needing the toilet asap! -
1.) water parks 2.) scuba diving 3.) running 3.) summer outside 4.) bending over to pick something up without "strategically planning" how I'm going to get back up 5. Breathing when I tie my shoe 6.) throwing away my slip on sandals 7.) wiping my ass without going through contortions ( TMI?).

Well, scale is up today (I had stayed off for 2 days), I am so depressed, though I did eat a little bit I shouldn't the last 2 days. But I'm gonna start a liquid diet tomorrow. I usually just do the shakes because, I hate pudding, and I dislike jello. Maybe I'll eat some egg drop Soup though, and perhaps get a little yogurt. Gonna start tomorrow, since I'm going to Rosh Hashanna dinner tonight. I'm gonna try for 3 days at least. TMI-maybe it will relieve my constipation for now.

Maybe I'm just a freak, but I used to get my armpits waxed all the time (no longer unfortunately, due to a delicate financial situation) and it never hurt very much. I used to get regular brazilians too, same story. The thing that DOES hurt me is my eyebrows. Yeouch! PREPARE FOR A POSSIBLE TMI. Brazilian-wise -- At the moment, it's a jungle down there. I'm very poor right now (paying off a certain surgery) plus i'm single, so there's no-one to get annoyed. It certainly annoys me, so I keep it trimmed, but otherwise "au naturel". Whatever. Not sure why i'm sharing this with you all. Ah well

I'm sorry to just start off with tmi but has anyone else has extremely bad runs from the pre op liquid diet. In afraid to leave my house because I won't have a bathroom near by. I don't know if its the protein mic or the 1% milk or what. I'm just having a really bad go of it.

when did you have your first BM after surgery? My surgery was monday and I have not gone poop since Monday morning before surgery. I asked Dr Aceves, of course, and he said it was normal so long as I was farting, which I am occasionally doing. The gas is mostly exiting from my mouth, however. I know. Gross. But I am getting concerned.

Theres gotta be a reason why I haven't seen this posted. Probably me, just being freaky again.. OK, here goes: When I brush my teeth, I usually brush my tongue too. This makes me gag several times. TMI, right? Now to my weird question. Isn't this gagging like a reverse PB putting strain on my band site? Do you all gag, not gag, have tongue crust, or use a tongue scraper? :brushteeth: :spit: :brushteeth: :spit: :brushteeth: Thanks, Brenda

May 28-31st Sleeve Week!
navywife21 replied to lylabelle's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi everyone.. I was sleeved on May 6th and I'm doing pretty good. I can't drink protein shakes cause it goes in and right out the other (sorry TMI) but it happens until your body adjust to everything. So I'm stuck eating chicken and fish already to get my proteins and doing well...I do have an issue that I have asked my doctor about some nerve pain right at my belly button area. It is like a burning pinching pain when I laugh or move wrong. Just wondering if anyone else had this.. -
T'was the night before Banding....
Lite'N'Sweet replied to Lite'N'Sweet's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Thank you everyone for your kind thoughts and words. This site is really invaluable. I'm maintaining my sanity as i daydream about all the foods i WOULD be having for dinner tonight but obviously cannot. And I owe that to being able to vent here. The tap block anesthetic has officially worn away. I feel everything. It's not excruciating... but on that fun 1 - 10 scale it's a definite 7 in terms of pain. So borderline on the... can't really think of anything else. The doctor prescribed liquid percoset but no one in this city carries it. They'd all have it by Monday - and by then? i'm sure I won't need it. So the hubby is out getting me liquid tylenol. Is it alright to put lemon in my Water? I hear that works like a good flush for your system (since we have to drink all that water anyway). One last question... how does everyone handle the "first post poop"? I'm afraid to push too hard. I know -- it's TMI but i would hate to damage anything on either side LOL -
I'm 60 lbs down, but know that I know I will want to have corrective surgery... I see droopiness and stretching in my lower stomache, arms... inner thighs and a little in my booty. I have a small apron, so I'll let me PS tell me wich option is best for me... I'm trying to tone my upper belley wich just wants to stay put! darnit!.. I may or may not want to have my arms done... I kinda believe I can tone them a little more... but my girls, my poor poor girls... have just given up the fight and they are DROOPY :w00t: While I'm thinking Breast lift... I need an implant to fill up the hollowness... and nipple reshaping.... I know TMI huh? LOL

Oh I am glad you shared even with it bordering on TMI..(you weren't too graphic, thankfully!) and I have heard of others who swear they dump with the sleeve. I'm glad you are learning to manage it, as I'm sure you don't want to repeat what has happened.

I've had this issue before where I felt really bloated after eating really small amounts of stuff. TMI: Needed to poop! Are you constipated at all? I took something to help that issue and the next day all was well
-
Hahaha! I was just gonna ask this!!! TMI, but it took me about 6-8 "good size" poops to clear out from the pre-surgery liquid diet blues. I kid you not!!!! And today I had a small one and I was like, "Whatchoo hidin' in there Willis that I don't know about. I know you've got more for me, cuz it's been 3 days and about 2 1/2cups of solid food." ROFLMFAO!!! Hope the doc's fix has you feeling better and able to hydrate quickly! It sounds like EXACTLY what I had that sent me to the ER. Severe cramps even when taking a sip of water or ice chip and super nausea/bloating. ((hugs))

I don't think I made myself clear. I'm suggesting two thoughts to the OP: 1. You're clearly fragile and he didn't say the things you needed to hear. I'm suggesting that what he actually said/meant might have been different than what you heard. No one knows this but you (certainly not a bunch of strangers on this forum). I've been married 37 years and my wife hears me say things all the time that I don't think I said and certainly didn't intend to convey. 2. Clearly, you don't like what you're hearing him say. Have you told him loud and clear that? Have you told him what you need from him to help you get through this? Women her nuances that guys can't. Guys are thick in this area and need to be set straight. Obviously, if you're certain that he spoke those words and meant to be hurtful and you told him as much and he doesn't give a ****, you need to move on. I'm just saying be sure first... How is he otherwise? Thank you for wanting to be objective. I have told him every way I can...STOP IT! In his mind he thinks he's helping me. He also said he is frustrated that I am not the weight I was just 3 years ago when I met him, and I eat (candy, Cookies, bread) while I've been preparing for this surgery. Unlike many others I had to gain 7 lbs to have surgery. And guess what? I have been enjoying EVERY second of it. I have been on some diet, some plan, over-excercizing and battling not eating "bad food". It has been great to eat what I want. Some people may say that means I'm not ready for this surgery....I think it means I am totally ready for this surgery...because I need it. I have gone up and down all my life. My husband thinks I "cheated the system by gaining the weight...and he feels I should have been eating all healthy these last 9 months. The problem with that is I had to stay at a certain weight to be approved. No gaining..no losing...and I did everything I had to...to be approved. I do understand his frustration. I don't look like I did. I'm also 42, been going through peri-menapaus, and have chronic pain and health issues. And now have been thrown into surgical menopause. Sorry this may TMI...but..I'm trying to paint you a picture. My husband other than being mean and critical about my weight...is funny, hardworking, responsible, handsome, committed to his ministry, a great friend, a good Dad (to my step-daugter), and can be loving towards me. He simply doesn't want a fat wife. He strongly apposes surgery, and told me today...that I will just gain the weight back, and stretch my stomach back out. I hope that doesn't happen. I'm having the surgery. That is not negotiable. So...there you have it.

Stomach noises after gastric bypass
2Bsmaller18 replied to Reina73's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
YES!! I had it 2/18. It was quiet for the first 2 days then my intestines finally started to "wake up". It sounded like thunder but finally stopped after my first BM (sorry TMI) on day3/4.
