Rabbits and Turtles United New Year Challenge

1/03/06 214 lbs 1/31/06 212 lbs 2/02/06 210 lbs 2/18/06 207.5 lbs Well, my goal was to lose 10 lbs and hit 204 by March 1st. I might make it. I am glad I am tracking this here because I feel like I am not losing anything when in reality I am just losing it very slowly. I am weighing EVERY day, big mistake. I will see 209,209,208.5,208.5 etc.. and by the time it actually sticks on 208 I dont even realize I have lost an actual pound. NSV My waist has gone from 43 inches to 37 inches. I cant believe I am admitting how fat my belly was, but I am so darn proud to have lost 6 inches around my waist!!! Cleaned out my closet and threw out tons of pants and skirts. Now for the butt and thighs to start shrinking.......

Rabbits and Turtles United New Year Challenge

No change in weight. I suppose it's kind of an NSV that I am having my teeth fixed. My weight is still my top priority, but I'm to the point where I can focus on other things that need work.

Rabbits and Turtles United New Year Challenge

1/4/06 Weight = 236 NSV: I bought a size 18/20 belt to hold up my too loose size 22 pants. 1/9/06 Weight = 234 (-2) NSV: I was able to fit into a misses size 20 pants at Old Navy. 1/16/06 Weight = 229 (-5) NSV(s): 1) My mother-in-law came to visit this past weekend and called me a "skinny minnie!" 2) I can now fit comfortably (with room to spare) in those plastic, stackable patio chairs. 1/23/06 Weight = 228 (-1) NSV: I FINALLY had to break down and buy new size 20 clothing because I was tired of my old clothes falling off of me. 1/30/06 Weight = 226 (-2) NSV: I had to move the seat in my vehicle closer to the steering wheel because my butt isn't so big anymore. 2/6/06 Weight = 221 (-5) NSV(s): 1) Our female bowling league partner told me this past Tuesday that I had a nice butt. P.S. She wasn't hitting on me. LOL 2) I fit into and purchased a pair of size 18 shorts. SV: 4 more pounds and I'm halfway to my goal!! :biggrin1: 2/13/06 Weight = 220 (-1) NSV: I don't really have one this week. Hopefully I'll make up for it with 2 next week. 2/20/06 Weight = 220 (no change) NSV(s): 1) On the plane to and from Vegas last week, I didn't have to struggle to secure my seatbelt, but rather had 6-8 inches of slack. 2) My hips didn't spread into the seats next to me causing the armrests to lift up. 3) My husband said he saw several men in Vegas checking out my ass!! LOL 2/27/06 Weight = 216 (-4) I met my personal goal early, on the 23rd. NSV: I fit into (and purchased, of course) a pair of size 16 jeans today!

Gone for Good Club - April 2006

Heh, yep, plateaus still happen. Take a look at my "Slow Loser NSV" thread and see my weight loss journal post on page 1. Here's the link. http://www.lapbandtalk.com/showthread.php?t=10252 Don't worry, I'm not always a good bandster and I'm not one to be very tight at all. I like being able to eat, now! So my fill level is intentionally not too tight. This accounts for at least some of my slow weight loss and long plateaus. That, and my wrecked-to-pieces and shot-all-to-hell metabolism after years of abuse! LOL Anyhow, my reality may not be yours. But yours may resemble on occasion, as with your 2 up, 2 down thing you got going on. You CAN do better than me. Our journeys are all a bit different, so no worries. Come on Mo! Let's lose some weight!

    I hope this isn't it...

Jack you always make me smile!! I love your posts and value your insight into what makes this BAND work! Great advice and I hope it helps you, we have all experienced the scale nightmares, when not moving.....just try to focus on your NSV!!

    Wine

I didn't reply to your original inquiry, mainly because I think what one person does is that person's business, no one else's. I hope the wine you enjoyed was all you wanted it to be. And good for you for standing your ground. I did want to point out something that's new for me since surgery: I was never able to drink wine. I'm one of those people who has that immediate reaction to drinking a sip of wine, where I could feel it burn as it slid down my throat, and by the time it hit my stomach, it had turned to acid. I'd have huge reflux issues from the wine, to the point that drinking wine just was something I didn't expect I'd ever do. Not that I'm much of a drinker anyway, but it always bugged me that whenever we'd go out with friends, or someone would crack open a bottle of wine at a dinner party, I had to sit out, because it made me ill to drink any. Well, fast forward to my surgery last month. The surgeon did an Endoscopy a few weeks prior to surgery, and he discovered I had a hiatal hernia. They put me on Prilosec OTC till surgery, and they repaired the hiatal hernia while putting in the band. I've had ZERO reflux or indigestion issues since surgery. As I've experimented with eating after surgery, absolutely nothing I've eaten has given me any kind of acid stomach, reflux, or whatever. It's like that switch is turned off. So then, (the point of ths long tale), last night we went to the after-the-holidays Holiday Party for my spouse's work. Big fancy catered dInner and entertainment thing for several hundred people - your basic fancy, dress-up affair. I ate smart, and was fine that way, but when asked what I wanted to drink, I was a bit perplexed. I knew I didn't want anything caffeinated or carbonated, I didn't want to have any kind of mixed drink, and about all that was left to me was a glass of wine. I figured "What the heck?" and ordered a glass of white wine to have on the table. I already had a glass of Water, just in case. The wine went down without so much as a burp. No reflux, no acid stomach, and I was able to enjoy it enough to realize it was terrible wine, and I quit after about three sips. (Nasty stuff!) But the victory was mine - I can apparently now drink wine, which is a backhanded NSV of ever there was one. LOL! Dave
  15. I was banded November 29, 2010 and have lost about 50 pounds in the 13 weeks since being banded. So far some of my NSV are that I can cross my legs at the knee for the first time in awhile. I have knee socks to wear with boots, that I can actually wear up to my knees. I no longer have to fold them halfway down! I have one size of jeans left in my multi sizes closet before I have to buy new clothes. My seat belt fits so much better, and my whole butt fits on the chairs at my school! These are completely silly little things you don't think of not being able to do until you can do them again, and I feel great What are some of the silly things you forgot about until you were able to do them again?

    NSV: Bathing Suit

It may not seem like a big deal, but this week I stopped in at Target and bought a bathing suit top off the rack. I didn't try it on but I got one size smaller than the one I have been wearing. Today, when I got to the pool I tried it on and actually looked at myself, in my bathing suit, in front of a full length mirror. The suit fit, and I looked pretty good all things considered.
  20. This week I walked my dog down to the small public beach along the beautiful St. Croix river. Kids are back in school so it was a very peaceful morning down there. I sat down on a half buried log to enjoy the view. I was watching some fishing boats go by when I realized that I was hugging my knees to my chest. What? I was astounded that I just naturally did that without thinking about it and that it was comfortable. Six months ago I couldn't/wouldn't have done that. Hurrah for that NSV! I was tickled pink as they say.
  21. Way to go Adagray! Doesn't it feel great?! Also, congrats on all the NSV's. That is really something to be proud of - definitely getting healthier!

    Knockouts December Updates

B-Man, How wonderful, I know you were so excited to be able to do that again. Dosent it make the last year sooooo worth it. I had my bandiversary on the 3rd of Jan, I wish I had some type of exciting reward like yours. Everyone is doing so good, is it not amazing the difference a year makes? It makes me want to tear up, so many NSV. Best of luck to everyone. Lois
  24. As of today, I am 19 days post-op. So far, I have ahd two NSV's. 1.) This may be TMI but... sex feels so much better because my husband can get closer to me. I can breathe with his weight on me rather than having to gasp for air. 2.) Cleaning out my closet. I took out everything that was too big for me and ended up with 10 (TEN) stuffed Walmart bags. I took them to the resale place to try and recuperate some of that money for new ones! I went from a tight 24W to a slightly snug 20W. I have lost 28 lbs total, only 10 since surgery but that is an average of 1/2 pound a day post-op.
  25. OK hold on, i know that you may find the topic title weird/odd, but i promise you am not a *****/freak. but it is true, i kissed myself today, and i find this to be a NSV that is worth sharing. First, before i go into the subject, let me tell you a little about myself. I HATE MYSELF! I HATE MYSELF! I HATE MYSELF! I HAVE ALWAYS HATED MYSELF! DID I SAY, I HATE MYSELF? IN CASE I FORGOT, I HATE MYSELF. This has all changed today as i was washing the dishes. This past valentine, my husband has gave me a mirror as a gift, this mirror is heart shaped and my husband decided to glue it on the wall that i face when i am at the sink, when he glued it, he said and i quote: " this is for you to always remember how beautiful you have became and have always been". well, it was a sweet thing from him to gift and say BUT i have always ignored mirrors, because i have always seen a reflection of someone who i never thought i was, i acted different than what i see in the mirror, i act as if i am small but the mirror has always showed a big reflection which i hated! Well to make this long story short. Today, as i was washing the dishes, i take take a look at the mirror and look back down BUT i looked back at myself right away because what i saw has pleased me!! I saw a beautiful 20 year old woman who is the exact reflection of my soul, i thought i looked beautiful, and i questioned myself: is this really me? I teared up and all of the sudden without paying attention to what i am doing, I kissed the mirror and stood up and smiled (but whats wrong with complimenting myself) UGH, i confess it felt weird but for the first time i love myself. This made my day, and i sure could not leave it at that. I walked swiftly to my husband in the living room and told him that he is a very lucky man to have me. HAHAHAHA he was weak. BUT i was very happy, and in a very good mood all of the sudden. I am sure this has happened to someone else, kissing the mirror/liking what you see... it happens right? I find it okay to compliment myself, because what i went through was not easy, what i gave away to be at this state of body was not easy, it is okay to like what i see even for a moment right? Sorry for this long post, i thought i had to share, please give yourself credit, you deserve it.
