  1. I am 5 days out. It is vital to keep a Water log. Find a system that works for you. Right now I have a note book where I have times and tick marks. Water drinking is a full time job at this point. If you are not sleeping you are drinking. Mind you it takes me 5 to 6 sips to drink 1 oz in about 15 minutes. What worked well for me yesterday ( I made it 40 oz for the day) is to have a glass with 5 ounces. I drew a line in sharpie on a wine glass. My goal is to drink that in an hour. In 10 hours is should get 50oz. I also drink anytime I wake up during the night. I make sure I stay awake 15 minutes to drink my 1 oz. My favorite drink solution has been 1/4 no sugar added apple juice, a tablespoon pedialite and the rest water. I feel the sweetness in the apple and the salty of the pedialite and my tummy likes it. Diluted Crystal Light and Low salt broth (with a scoop of GENEPRO unflavored protein) are also yummy. sugar free popsicles are also good but I too can hardly tolerate the sweetness in the vanilla and chocolate Protein shakes. Having said all that if you have not been able to get enough liquids and you feel very sick then you will have to go to emergency room and have them place you on IV for fluids. Call your doctor of course. They have a 24 hour service answering calls. It is an outpatient procedure and they will likely only admit you as inpatient if you are dangerously dehydrated and require days of fluids. Even in ER I would be working my fluids because when you get home you still have to work at it. I never imagined drinking enough fluids was such a hard job but it is. Right now it is even more important then sleep.

    10 days post op and...

I agree. Genepro! Best. Protein. Ever.
  3. Try looking for Genepro protein powder. It's tasteless, odorless and one tablespoon has 30 grams of protein. I put it into my yogurt and in milk. I'm onto pureed foods now and it's still a staple in my receipes. Lots of luck!

    October Sleevers?

I am doing great. Surgery went well, Recovery has been fairly easy. Haven't had pain meds in a week. Been walking everyday. I'm amazed how little I can eat now. Even on liquids, I get full so fast. It's crazy. I'm down 10 pounds since surgery. I'm looking forward to getting off straight liquids! I've struggled with protein drinks since surgery. They are just all too sweet. But, I found Genepro protein and it has saved me! All in all, no regrets. So happy I did this and can't wait to see more results.

    10 days post op and...

I had the same problem, my motto was get the first protein drink in as soon as I got up and get it out of the way. I was hitting the YMCA every morning at 5 and drank the protein drink after that. I switched things up. Exercise every other day and drink a whole bottle of water before even starting my protein and it has helped with the nauseous sick feeling I was getting from the protein drink. And I have also learned not to take my vitamins any where near when I was going to drink my protein drink because it really made me sick to my stomach. You will find a routine what works best for you. I use Genepro protein bought on Amazon. It was approved by my NUT. It is fantastic! Helped to get all of my protein in plus some and I was struggling. I am 10 weeks post op on Monday and I can eat anything now but still cannot eat enough to get my protein in without protein drinks. But that's ok I can tolerate them now. Good luck!

    Genepro protein rocks!

I am also in love with GENEPRO -- I've been using it about a month and a half. Word of warning or bit of wisdom or how ever you want to say it... if you keep your drink with you on the go all day long as i do, do NOT forget it in a hot car or leave it sitting in the hot sun. The Protein powder is beloved by all, apparently, including miniscule flora in your drink. If it smells funky, it is - little algae blooms are beginning to appear and before long you will see the blooms coming out of various bits of Protein Powder stuck to the wall of your drinking cup. This will not keep me away from my genepro... just will make me do a better job of marking where my drink gets left and how much time is going by between "sips" from my shaker-bottle drink which i carry everywhere. Sniff first!

    protein supplements

Genepro powder is awesome. 30 grams in a tiny scoop and it mixes great with hot tea. Not taste at all. I have 2 cups of tea a day to at least get my 60g without my food
  11. Since being sleeved 5 days ago, I have been having a hard time getting my protein. It is all too sweet. Upon the recommendation of this forum and checking with my nut, I ordered genepro. I tried it for the first time tonight and it's amazing. You can't even taste it. I just mix it in my crystal lite and drink away! I'm so happy.

    Protein Shakes

I'm not a argumentive person and don't claim to know everything, I have drinked Protein drinks for years, but after surgery I got where i could not gag another Protein shake down.....could not stand the after taste of Isopure and I tried a closet full of others. GENEPRO has been the best for me. I love it,....no after taste and I am able to get all of my protein in for the day. What works for me may not work for someone else. I was just trying to give a helpful hint to someone else going through this journey....which we are all here to help each other. I wish you the best.

    Protein Shakes

Ya know that term "apples to apples" ?? Well, that's how various companies out there get away with claims that just don't stand up to actual comparison. They make claims that are not actual side by side (apples to apples) comparisons. They claim how their products work differently and are therefore better and more effective with greater claims that aren't substantiated with actual independent data or research or any universally accepted labeling. Prime example as we all know......"diet pills" (not a single one actually works as claimed) I am always skeptical about any product's claims when there is considerable double talk about how differently their product is or works and yet they don't include actual side by side labeling or independent research to compare with other products. And while I certainly appreciate the individual reviews made by users of a product, I typically do not rely on those reviews as to whether a product is actually effective. At least not where the product's results are based in science and I have no idea of the reviewers credentials. Keep in mind people, we live in a society where the proverbial "disclaimer" is used in practically all aspects of our lives. It is meant to mislead. ie: "Information was obtained that suggests the person in custody actually committed the crime"........ (what information, from whom??? Suggests - not actual facts!! ) They don't have any actual facts, but it doesn't keep them from making unsubstantiated claims just to appear more knowledgeable. Here is a reply from another WLS site that throws out some valid points to consider....... "You cannot get 30 grams of Protein in a 15 gram serving. Not in our current universe. What they have done is process the crap out of whey protein, similar to how other failed companies have done in the past. The other companies failed because their claims were also bogus. They all revolve around a molecule they call a hexapeptide. The company throws around a lot of doubletalk, but you will not see a nutrition label the way you will on a reputable product. They have an asterisk next to the 30 gram figure that says "equivalent." That's because their 15 gram scoop only has 10 grams of whey protein. They claim it is "equivalent" to 30 grams of protein because their GENEPRO is absorbed three times better than "normal" whey protein. They have only their own marketing hype to make this claim. One of the things people seem to love about this product is that it dissolves so well compared to other whey powders. Well, duh. You are only dissolving 10 grams of whey, not 30, so of course it dissolves better. Take one third of your usual powder and see how well it dissolves. It will look like magic too.The other big problem with Genepro is that they claim to be absorbed in the upper part of the digestive tract. If you had RNY or DS this wouldn't do you any good.Unfortunately, people using this are thinking they are getting 30 grams of protein, when in reality they are getting only 10. That means the cost per gram is three times higher than you thought. Oh, and it could leave you malnourished to boot. As obese and formerly obese people, many of us have been victimized by fake science, false promises, and diets, gadgets and gizmos that don't work. There is no super food that will make us lose weight, and no super supplement that provides three times the nutrition that it possibly can." So.......does it work or not.....that is the question. I don't know. I'm just playing the devil's advocate here. Good luck

    October Sleevers?

I have really started learning the real difference between head hunger and real hunger since being sleeved on Wednesday. Many times I thought I was starving, had about 6 spoonfuls of broth, and was STUFFED! It's learning to fight the head hunger now. Please don't risk testing your new stomach too early. Is it really worth ending up back in the hospital for another surgery? I ordered genepro protein that is supposed to be here tomorrow. It's supposed to be tasteless that you can just add to regular drinks and it's not supposed to be clumpy. I'll let everyone know how it is!
  16. MauiGirl5555, Where did you find the samples of GENEPRO? I have googled it and I am unable to locate any? I really would like to try it before I order it.
  17. I have bought some PB2 and I was wondering if anyone has any good thinks to do with it than the usual. I am also trying to find unjury in my area and am unable to find it. Can anyone give me any ideas on things to get besides Unjury? Same as the GENEPRO, I can't find that either.

    Protein powder

There are hundreds of whey Protein powers to choose from. The best thing to do is to get samples from different companies and try them. Don't buy a lot before surgery because your taste and tolerance might change. I've used unjury and Premium chocolate shakes, and for me, both are very hard to take. They have a very strong whey taste and smell and they are very sweet.I discovered GENEPRO Protein from theses board and that's all I use now. You can find it at Amazon.com and the company websit a Muscleglen Research. It is odorless, tasteless, and can be mixed in hot liquids and most anything. Best of luck on your surgery! Carol
  19. I love genepro!! You can put it in anything hot or cold and it's 30gr protein in just a tablespoon!!

    OCTOBER 2014

@@layknee I stocked up on cream soups, they were a dollar at pathmark only to find out that they weren't on my plan, so I had to return them. I did boil chicken last night for 3 hours so that it could be extra juicy and then I blended it with a potato so that I could have it for lunch and dinner today. I also blended a few bananas and added genepro to it. I made my goals yesterday and was happy lol, its a bit easier when the liquid diet ends. I can't use any of the aps you guys were mentioning because I still have a blackberry, I'm attached to it lol and haven't gotten a better phone in years. Maybe next year I'll take time to back up my photos and get a new one, but idk lol even my bestfriend said she was gonna get me one and I begged her not to because I really like the simplicity of the blackberry. How are you feeling today?
  22. Genepro ... No flavor at all... I bought it on Amazon... Little tiny scooper... 30 grams of protein... Mix it in anything!!!!
  23. The unjury unflavored didnt do much for me...it had a smell that I couldnt get past. I tried it in applesauce and hot Cereal and couldnt tolerate it at all. I have not tried to mix it into the Choc Splendor Unjury drink which I think tastes great. This morning I tried a GENEPRO no flavored powder....it didnt have a smell which is a bonus....I mixed it in with my choc splendor unjury drink....it didnt really change the taste....it sort of left an aftertaste in my mouth for a bit...but nothing too awful.... I ordered samples of the genepro...I ordered 2 samples and they sent me 4....it cost me less than $5. It is worth trying a sample to see if you like it. Good Luck

    First bad meal post op!

For all of you who don't like, or cannot eat, Protein shakes, try GENEPRO. I bought it on amazon.com. One little scoop (about a rounded tablespoon) is all you need to get 30 g of protein. It is Water soluble, just like Benefiber or Miralax. You can put it in just about everything and not taste it...your morning yogurt, cottage cheese, mash it in with enough hamburger for one patty and grill it, put it on your salad, etc. The possibilities are endless. It does add a slight flavor to water, which isn't a bad taste, it just a funny taste. Now I mix it in with my daily Sobe Lifewater or Fuze Slenderize water. I really feel less tied to protein shakes (powdered or canned) since I have found this great product.
