Magnesium citrate but no poop
Sydney Susan replied to LI Gemini NY's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Glad to hear all is well. Just a tip... that comes with a warning too that it's mega-TMI, so only read on if this is your need. Lots of us girls get a rectocoele as the years march on, particularly if we suffer from constipation, although childbirth alone and a uterus determined to meet your feet someday will do it alone... All that pressure on our pelvic floors and something's got to give, so why not the ever thinning wall between your vagina and your rectum. Those occasions when you feel a poop just inside your rectum that won't actually come out are often due to your rectum expanding sideways into your vagina. Put a couple of fingers in your vagina and press towards your rear firmly and you will return your rectum to its more normal shape and size, allowing the poop to slide down and out. The longer the poop has been stuck the drier it will be so use a 5ml enema to lubricate if you can, or be prepared to go slowly. Without doubt this is some of the least fun you can have with your nether regions, but it does work. Taught to me by a continence physiotherapist. Good luck Ladies. And yes, God must be a man. -

Hi y'all well well. sitting by computer since sitting is the most comfy position. All went well thank god and I'm soo happy to be home! got banded at ab. 10 am.. was up ab. 11:15 and I just remember in recovery waking up.. coughing.. still had tube down my throat.. :girl_hug:. so they took out right away. and all i said was "paiinnn" "paiinnnn" they asked me how much 1-10 i told them a 6 1/2.. got some morphine.. a little while later i said "paiinnn" so they gave me some more.. lol.. at 12:30 i was up in my room already! Got up right away to go to bathroom and put on my pj's.. adn then I slept till around 2 ish.. (funny side note. my sis was banded 2 weeks ago.. when i was telling her my "paaainnn" story in recovery she BURST out laffing. she said that were the first words out of her mouth.. "paiinnn" painnn".. lol - i guess when we're tired we conserve our energy for the impt. stuff) walked around again w/ my hubby... and had this EXCRUCIATING pain on my right side, next to inscision area.. like a 1inch by 1 inch area taht was burning and stabbing me to my back.. coudln't stand straight. Otherwise everywhere else felt find. Thankfully I really did not have any gas pains.. I've had it from previous surgeries so I am soooo thankful that I didn't have that. So back to this pain. I didn't know what hit me. had a massive anxiety attack. (lovely) husband called nurse and they couldn't figure out why i was having pain in that spot. no'g there. It hurt when the fabric of my t-shirt was rubbing against it!! They gave me Toradol IV.. and that dulled it.. I was able to sleep some About 1-2 hours later Dr. Ren came and said I had some swelling on my right side of muscle when she did surgery.. ( I did have pain on myright side from a rib that kept on going out of place.. went to chiropracter twice and then figured what the heck.not gonna keep on going once a week to snap back into place. so lived with the discomfort and mild pain)so it seems she cut through some nerves there. and the pain that im' having is nerve endings that were cut. and that pain / discomfort will be there for a few weeks (GEE THANKS! :faint:).. Other than that and feeling like I had a truck run over my stomach.. which is bearable. i'm really doing well. i'm sorta hungry. but more in my head.. cuz i can't really drink much.. get full and a little nauseous and start burping :whoo: lol.. life is soo much fun the nerve pain kills when I walk.. it hurts to lay on couch.. but sitting in a chair is ok. problem is my butt KILLS already..:heh: from all the sitting. Vicodan does NOT work for me. never has.. and advil that i took ab. 2 hours after 2 vicodan also hasn't worked. called dr. and nothing can do. cuz can't call in a narcotic to pharmacy.. so i'll have to wait until tommorow. great. there goes another night of sleep. helllo late night TV once again! i wandered the hospital all night. Met some great pple who had the surgery too and it was therapeutic for all of us to talk and share experiences. still constipated but PETRIFIED to push.. lol. sorry for TMI... have aches under breasts. probably the little gas I have.. and incision sites are ok. a little painful.. i'm coughing up stuff. but taht is probably from tube. which is why my throat is killing me too... nervous ab. the cough but I put a pillow on my stomach. cuz i don't want incisions to bleed/pop.. (sis had that by gall bladder surgery and ended up in hospital all infected) all in all this is something I would do again if the results happen. which their is no reason it shouldn't!! I hope all of you are doing ok!! MissNilsa.. how u feeling? any better than this morning???? Did u get some sleep?? will keep u posted! Pemy

OK Ladies, kinda embarrasing question for you all
M!@ replied to Adina's_Journey's topic in The Gals' Room
As the first thing they want you to do after surgery is walk, my surgeon does not use a cath. And with them pumping IV Fluid the urge comes rather quickly after waking. That being said, even with a cath, I don't see the need to be clean shaven. I was not worried, I make sugar wax at home to use. Cheap and easy, and for some reason my husband likes to help. Ok that was TMI. -
Hi. I'm 3 days past surgery. This may be TMI: Anyone else have trouble passing gas? I feel like my muscles below automatically tense up when it starts to come out so it never does. I need to get rid of it but I can't stop my muscles from tightening up. No matter how much i concentrate on relaxing my muscles, ive only let a couple of small ones out today (this is the first day ive had the urge to pass it. And yes im walking and moving around but now I'm getting some gas pains. Any suggestions? ~~ LadyDarkness415 ~~

I may have my period at the time of surgery.
Brandy~ replied to ja4332's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was on my period so I told the nurse. Right before they wheeled me into surgery they had me use the restroom to use a new tampon. Sorry for the TMI. They gave me the option of the diaper or new tampon.. I didnt want a diaper lol -
Hi All, I almost feel like a cry baby writing this. Today makes it exactly 2 weeks since my sleeve surgery. I have been reading enough on this board to kinda know the emotions to expect. I weighed today and have not lost a pound since Wednesday. I am okay with that. I did a self-check and realize that I am not getting enough Protein in everyday (fluids probably around 40-45 ounces). I stocked up on some (what used to be delicious) whey protein that is 52 grams of protein per 8 ounces. Now I can’t stand the stuff. I mean every day I try to get at least half of it down, but it just makes me want to vomit (TMI?). I plan on buying an ice cream maker (recommended by Eggface) to see if that helps. I have been working out on Your Shape Fitness (Xbox Kinetics) for about 15 minutes a day and doing so very lite weight lifting (mainly for my arms while watching TV). 15 minutes is all I have in me with no food. I was thinking about stretching my full liquid stage out for 2 more weeks, but I don’t think I can do it without some good protein options. Maybe I should end the full liquids on schedule and stretch out mushies? I don’t know anymore. I am very happy for the weight I lost so far. I started this journey at 279 and I am now 255. So its progress. I am just in need of encouraging words. These emotions are taking a toll and I am trying to stay strong. I keep telling myself “Anna you’re new to this.” “Anna you can and will do this” but its getting harder. Thanks for letting me vent. Tears and all, I have no other choice.

Sleeving in 3 weeks! I am excited!
Shedding4me replied to Shedding4me's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I had my GS done on Monday. I had issues in recovery, but I believe it was just me. I was in a lot of pain in the whole left quadrant of my upper body. I had a lot done so I knew I would hurt some. I had abrasions removed from my gallbladder scar from 1983 and my hiatal hernia was fixed with stitches. The retractor they use when fixing the hernia is probably what gave me the most discomfort after surgery. I felt like I was having gas pockets because when I tried to sleep with pain meds, yes I took them, you can't heal if you're fighting pain, I would wake myself up moaning and groaning. I slept maybe 3 hours in two days and I felt so much better when I came home and slept off and on for two days. I had surgery Monday, it's Friday night and I have some pain my left side, same place as before, but not quite as bad. I'm weaning myself off of my oral pain meds, oxycodone, and actually I am not bad. I'm not pushing myself too hard. I walked Ok in the hospital but not so much here. I wanted my strength back before I got outside in the sun and heat. I showered today and was weak after that, but I feel I'm right on course. I haven't had any nausea. I haven't thrown up. I'm drinking my shakes, taking the awful vitamins, and having water, and homemade chicken broth. I believe even that my incontinence has been "fixed" and what a blessing that would be if that got fixed too! Meaning, no surgery for it specifically will be needed. The sticking to the diet part has been easy. I haven't really had any cravings and my mom has been cooking some great smelling food. I'm keeping my eye on the end game and that is what keeps me going. I started at 287 lbs on August 7th and today, August 25, I was 270 lbs. I haven't seen that number since before October of last year so I'm happy. I'm happy about all of it and I'm anxious to lose it all, keep it off, and maintain my weight. This isn't fun and I'm not doing it again. I had my first BM this evening and I was happy about that. I know that's TMI but we are all on here putting it out there and, so, yeah, I'm putting it out there for someone that would have that question. I am also hoping I get back down a whole size in my footwear as that is something to look forward to. It does feel like I'm drinking something or taking some kind of pill all day, but hey, prices you have to pay! So there it is! I am truly happy that I did this! -
I know this is going to be WILDLY popular... ;)

FYI: I'm also doing this so I can get to goal and get a TT, breast lift and Implants. Let's just be real, these things are necessary in my life! They aren't going to magically fix themselves. I'm scared of the TT but it must be done! Is that TMI?! Oh well your all going to hear about it later anyway! -
Anyone Just Had Their Band This Month?
Xanadu3460 replied to nikkinikole's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was banded on 5/22/12. I did Clear Liquids for 3 days & now I am on day 4. So I can move on to Full Liquids. I lived off of Liquid Isopure Blue Rasberry. Now I am enjoying Trader Joe's Butter Nut Squash, Vita Coco, & my Isopure powder - Double Dutch chocolate & low fat milk. I am not hungry, but feel a bit light headed. Going to the RR regularly so I know I am staying hydrated. And finally had a BM this morning. (Sorry for the TMI). How is everyone else doing? -
Things I should get before surgery?

Definitely buy gas medication!!! I did chewable and mylicon drops. TMI -
Wasn't quite sure where to put this so I figured The Lounge was as good as any other place. So...I got a silver frame and a watch case for the boyfriend for Christmas. His daughter is getting married in March and I thought a frame would be better than taping a picture to the wall, which is basically what he does now. Suffice to say he was not terribly impressed with the frame when tape is good enough in his opinion. Happily, I also thought a watch case would be nice since he has about ten wristwatches and they're all over the place so I was looking forward to his reaction when I gave him gift number two. What I didn't know was that he has so many watches because they're cheap and rather than replace the batteries, he just replaces the watches. So I basically struck out on the gift ideas. I finally came up with a good idea at bedtime. I made him feel oh so good last night that he's walking funny this morning...LOL. I'm not sure if I can re-gift tonight but I'll try....

I eat a salad at least once a week. I chop up a boiled egg in it with lettuce, spinach, tomatoes, cucumber, cheese and bacon bits. I use a little blue cheese sparingly. It is so yummy. I have such probs with constipation but I have a lettuce intolerance so it clears everything out (sorry tmi). I love my salads!!

Post-Op January 2014 Losers Club!
KittyKat848 replied to Eroper6's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Well, against all good advice, I was weighing every day. I was losing a pound a day for a while, so it was pretty awesome. When I hit 297 (started at 344) I hit my first stall. It was at 3 weeks. I was ok at first but then on the 4th day of stall I gained 2 pounds to 299!! I had a BM and went to 298.5. I knew then I needed to stop weighing every day. So I went to every three days -- only in the morning only after a BM. (Sorry tmi) -- this morning-- voila. Down 5! -
Surgery was fine, and I was told by my doctor it went really well. I was up and walking a few hours after. The pain was decent after and I never went above a 2.5-3 on the pain scale, nor did I need to use the pain pump very often. The very next day I went home. That's when the pain started. I didn't pass any gas until Saturday (tmi) and I had a bm for the first time since surgery yesterday (extra tmi.) I finally started feeling better Monday night and gradually am getting better as days progress. I couldn't imagine going back to work... every little thing makes me tired and I get grumpy and agitated. No "real" hunger but I was able to go to full liquids Saturday, and if my tummy allows it I'll be going to purees today[emoji4] I have been able to sleep comfortably, but can still not sleep on my back. Left side, where the drain was is still REALLY painful. I am all for helping lol. Ask away[emoji4]

----hi Jaime I'm exactly 4 weeks out today; surgery was 12.12 Struggling with Hernia repair recovery and scared to really try more soft solids such as tuna and grilled fish or even eggs I tried thinned out oatmeal at one week out and it literally sat in my chest like a bag of sand -- and that was only one tablespoon that took me 45 minutes to get through My doc prescribed me carafate about 2 weeks ago to help with the pulsing pain and pressure so things have gotten Better but I'm still nervous. I'm going to try egg whites this weekend in the comfort of my home and see how it goes I'm getting in more Protein shakes and Water these days which is giving me more energy --- I was super super weak for the majority of the past 4 weeks I think I'm stalled at 210.4 now -- been here since Monday jan 6 after a streak of coming down a pound or so a day Started losing weight on my own in oct 2013 -- from 260 to about 237 Then surgery on 12.12 and now steady at 210.4 after 4 weeks -- I'm 5'7" My ultimate goal is to maintain 165-170 so time will tell; I think it's realistic with all the carb and sweet restrictions and of course our automatic portion control device dde09 I plan to start spin classes in a few weeks depending on how I feel -- I loved spinning prior to vsg and miss it dearly So where are you now? How's recovery? I was still pretty miserable at 2 weeks out; was even hospitalized for dehydration on day 11 and just came over a bout of painful constipation (TMI but I wouldn't wish that on anyone) Be sure to Stay hydrated!!!! Wow, sounds like you have been through a lot over the last 4 weeks. I too had 2 hernia repairs but my recovery has been pretty easy. My main complaint is that I HATE drinking the Protein Shakes and wish I could move into regular foods soon. I started at 220 and am now at 206, the scale hasn't moved since Wednesday so hopefully that will come soon. I was able to get the most amount of protein and liquids in today so I am happy about that. As happy as I am it also makes me think if it only took 2 weeks to be able to drink more I am sure I will be able to eat more too. I know this is a tool but I have read a lot of people saying that everything is going slow and it's a bit discouraging. I guess I will have to wait and see. Good luck to you - I also hope to get back on my spinning bike, I miss it greatly but want to be ready when I walk back into the studio!Keep I touch! Feel good.

Hey y'all! I was banded 1/2009 and for the first two years, lost about 65 pounds. I could never get the fills in the green zone- too tight or too loose. I threw up 3 times a day for 4 years. Not throw up but the regurgitation(sorry for tmi) Basically, I lost all my weight by starving and working out like I was the next contestant on Biggest Loser, except there weren't cameras or Jillian Michaels screaming at me. I had a band slip in 2011- while on a cruise... First cruise I didn't gain weight on but was miserable. Once back home, all Fluid was taken out and I played the guessing game for a few more years. I then gained all the weight I had lost due to my band empty and poor food choices. Like many who have had a failed WLS know, it's extremely shameful and disheartening. Finally in 2015, I visited a new doctor in DFW who suggested a revision. My biggest fear is losing the weight with RNY and gaining it back. Food has and still is an emotional comfort. First step in recovery is admitting, right?! So I've started a food journal with triggers that make me want junk food. I refuse to invest in this surgery (scheduled surgery is next Tuesday... Thank you Jesus!) and gain all the weight back So anyone out there a big sweets person- did your cravings die down after the revision to bypass? What are some tricks that worked for you? I'm thankful for your help and insight! Xx Alyssa Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Anyone post op and suffering horrible diarrhea? Is it the lack of fiber and real food? I know my doc said I could have loose stools but this is like water

I have surgery on Friday and my emotions are crazy. I'm scared, sad, excited etc. can anybody tell me what I should bring other than the regular stuff that I may not think to bring?? Of course I started my monthly cycle too. Does anybody think that could pose a problem. Sorry if that's TMI. Just can't believe this is really going to happen. I'm so nervous.

Not a fun topic at all but I wish I had this info prior to what happened to me today. This post is for all the newly sleeved, you will want to read this. OK, I was sleeved May 10th and my last BM was on the 9th. I'm feeling really good, the surgery was successful and I never had to use pain meds. I mention this because I was told only IF I take pain meds, should I also take a stool softener. No softener for me, I never needed the pain meds! This morning I had my 1-week post-op Dr appointment where I mentioned I still had no BM. I was told it is very normal and due to a liquid diet, I may not have one until the puréed stage. About 2 hours after arriving home, my body signaled I had to finally make a BM! My happiness went from this is great to call 911, NOW! You see, I was on the toilet for about 1/2 hour lightly pushing, then pushing harder then to rocking around the seat doing what I could to release the demon inside me... NOTHING worked. I finally gave up took a walk drank some Water and then the urge to go came back a second time...NOTHING came out. I ended up becoming very dizzy, I started to sweat, I saw stars then everything around me went white! I was passing out from the pain of pushing (hurt my tummy) and from the pain my bottom was feeling (felt like I was passing a small watermelon wrapped with barbed wire). Luckily, my sweet husband came to my rescue with a cold water and ice pack and his shirt around his nose. He called the nurse and she recommended an enema, some milk of magnesium, and suppositories...yeah, forget the enema you will not be able to contort your wounded tummy properly. You drink the magnesium and take the suppository!! So, about 10 minutes later and more pain and screaming, I gave birth to something so incredible I couldn't believe my eyes (I see why I was in pain if you know what I mean). Now, I'm literally "pissing" out of my ass, which is in so much pain. Moral of this disgusting story, take a stool softener no matter what even if you don't take pain meds and , especially if you haven't pooped in 2 days maybe try some milk of magnesium too. I hope this post saves at least 1 persons rump! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

I dont know if it is still normal or not. But ever since surgery I am very aware of my liver or in the region where my liver is. Here is where the TMI might come in for some. Dont know if i should call doctor or what. Mostly during active moments. Like sex for example. It is very uncomfortable there (where my liver is). First of all I have to put pressure on that area even to function. I dont know if it is just bruised or should I be worried.
