Truly don't know what to do
Jennifer Rogers replied to Jennifer Rogers's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Thank you to everyone that has replied and offered words of wisdom. I will keep trying. Yogurt of any kind, unfortunately, isn't an option for me. It's probably the only food I've had an aversion to my entire life, and it hasn't changed since surgery. I've tried mixing it into smoothies and dinner recipes...if yogurt is in it, I can taste it and I simply cannot tolerate it. My daughter is the same way when it comes to yogurt. However, I will continue to try getting my Genepro down and trying to eat high protein foods the best that I can. I will trust those of you who have said it's a phase and will pass. Good luck to those of you in the same boat as I am. -

Protein pudding and Greek yogurt are so good not sure if you tried them. I also like the genepro couldn't Tate it at all I'd try mixing it in a coffee drink or crystal light. Look on bariatric pantry website for some other yummy drinks not protein shakes then try to add a little of the genepro? U can find proteins that taste better than protein shake I know I have. Good luck to you! -
Truly don't know what to do

If you are using the GENEPRO - they have a small scoop in the bag. One scoop is 30 grams of protein. I would start with that. I think if some things have more protein, they are harder to get down. I had to force myself to drink my Protein shakes. It's not a matter of "this tastes great", right now it's a matter of - I've got to get this down. -
November sleevers in Mexico?
KristenVSG2014 replied to Becca R.'s topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Update: Day 5 Post Op The numbness in my abdomen is completely gone and now I feel the full effect of the surgery. I'm extremely sore but I'm able to get out of bed by myself and take a shower without assistance. I cannot dry myself off or bend over yet though. Riding in a car sucks. I managed to walk 1 mile today with a few breaks along the way. Today was the first day I met my protein and fluid requirement. Genepro is a lifesaver! I had a gas bubble trapped under my right ribcage today that took my breath away. I had my husband beating my back to try and break it up. I'm still very tired each day. I seem to have little spurts of energy but then I crash again. I'm hoping by Monday, one week out, I'll feel better. :-) -
Truly don't know what to do

I use Genepro. I bought it off Amazon. It's a smaller scoop. The serving size is only 1Tbls and it packs 30g protein. It's tasteless and 100% dissolvable -
Truly don't know what to do
Jennifer Rogers replied to Jennifer Rogers's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
No no...the protein powder I just got "Genepro" is 30g per 1 Tbls. So that's perfect. But how much soup are you adding that to? I just made lemon pudding with 2 Tbls of protein (60 g). I'm eating a little now, but put the rest in popscicle molds for Jello Protein Pudding Pops! -
I was sleeved on 10-21-14. The first week I had no trouble getting my protein and fluids in, the second week, there didn't seem to be enough hours in the day to get my fluids in and I couldn't tolerate even half of one protein shake. Someone here recommended Genepro Protein, so I ordered it. In the meantime, I quit bothering to even open a protein shake...it was just wasteful as I couldn't drink it anyway. It really weighed heavily on my mind. This past week my nutritionist put me on soft, well chewed food (not breads rice, or pastas yet, but pretty much anything else as long as it is chewed well). And, my Genepro arrived yesterday. I thought "thank heavens...I can eat food AND I have protein that I can mix into my food! Now I can be compliant with my protein intake" Um, not so much. I had been collecting recipes that I could eat at this stage, so I started making a new one everyday since Tuesday. I've not been fond of any of them...and I've made a variety of different things. I can't eat any more than 1-2 Tbls per meal or snack, no matter what it is. And it's not because I'm "full", it's because the taste of ANYTHING literally repulses me. I have to mentally prepare myself before I swallow because it just feels soooo disgusting going down. So if I can't eat that means I can't mix my protein, and I'm obviously not eating enough to get my requirements through the food. Well, this evening I decided that maybe I just didn't really like the new recipes so I decided to make something I've made for years and has always been a favorite. Nope. Same scenario. I literally cannot stand food. I am getting depressed because this isn't going the way I wanted. I have the greatest desire to be compliant and I TRY, every single day. It's not about wanting something different or "cheating", it's that I can't eat. My dietician says "you're early out...just keep trying, it'll get better". *sigh* I guess, but I feel like a failure, even though I'm losing (OF COURSE IM LOSING! I'm starving myself to death...this isn't what I wanted!) sorry for the long vent, but I'm so upset this evening.

Yay!! Sounds delicious!! I bought some tiny little tupperware bowls that are about 1 cup. Love them! I'm enjoying a 1 egg omelet with the genepro unflavored protein ( i also love this stuff! Much better than the Unjur.y unflavored!) I also added a sprinkled of freshly shredded cheese. ( I don't use the packaged shredded anymore, after I read that they add a sawdust type material to it. Ick!) Mmmmm. So good!

Best dinner ever, I made some chicken stock and placed in the freezer for after surgery. It is, of course, delicious homemade stock. I had one single smallish potato cubed and boiled for 30 minutes. Had to search for a pot to place my tiny potato and found one so small I don't think I have ever used before. It came with a set, so there it was. I added enough broth to wisk the whole thing into yogurt consistency. That's a lot runnier then regular mashies. I also added 1/2 a scoop of unflavored GENEPRO Protein (15 gr). One scoop of their protein is like a tablespoon. It's not much at all. OMG, I am in love and my pouch loved it. I want to eat that forever. Warm, yummy deliciousness. I think I need to buy some smaller bowls. My 1/2 cup of mashies looked ridiculous in our regular cereal/soup bowls.

I tried but I can't do protein powder... The genepro doesn't add anything and I don't feel like a real green smoothie is sweet enough on its own.

What's for breakfast?
Katcloudshepherd replied to tamg26k's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Love all the great ideas! I forgot to add to my comment that I put some coconut manna in my oatmeal and stevia along with the Protein powder and a little milk. I use the GENEPRO unflavored protein powder that I order from Amazon. It is a smaller scoop for 30 grams of protein and the powder is finely ground. It does add a slight milk like taste to what you put it in but that works well with oatmeal. You could add walnuts for crunch, chia seeds for crunch etc. Have a good one everybody, Kathleen -

ooooo whats genepro??? fill me in this is the first i have heard of it -
I am in no way a vendor or affiliated with the GENEPRO company. I do agree with you about all the reviews not only for this product but others as well. But I took a chance with Genepro, I must say I was very impressed. I 3 vendors took the bag to my ARNPC who is my program coordinator. We sit and looked up each ingredient she was impressed with it as well. Her only concern was one of the ingredients is used to treat anarexia. She advised just to be vigilant about watching your weight and not using it as your soul source of Protein. I first tried it in just plain Water to test the no taste and no smell. I mixed on scoop with 16 Oz of water. It doesn't dissolve real quickly but it does. It looks like water downed milk in the water. But for me there was no smell and no real taste in the water. But you do have to keep it stirred up cuz if not then it might be a little gritty but still no taste. The $38 is a little pricy but average price for a decent Protein powder. So anyways that's my opinion of it and I currently use I scoop a day. Again I have nothing to do with the company and this is just on own personal review.

Best protein drinks? Clear, whey powders, and liquids?

Genepro protein has saved me since surgery as I could not handle the sweetness of the shakes. It's tasteless and mixes well into anything. -

1 week Post Op.....looking for advice, tips....
CheleLynn45 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So Monday 11/3 I was one week post op from my surgery on 10/27. I came home Tuesday around dinnertime from the hospital and found that I did not need to take any of my pain meds at all. I was so surprised since I am a giant baby when it come to being in pain or uncomfortable. My first couple days home I was only getting in half of what my doc wanted me to and I was starting to get nervous. But come Friday I was able to almost reach my goals of 60g of Protein and 64oz of Water. I had a rough day on Saturday due to some protein not agreeing with my tummy at all, took a few naps but still managed to get in my three 20 minute walks so I still call it a good day! Now here is where I am looking for any advice or tips people further out than me can offer. Both Sunday and Monday I was able to get all my protein in (and a teeny bit more) all my water in and all my walking, I have been able to drink an 11oz RTD Premeire Protein shake cut with 4oz of 1% milk in about an hour sipping sipping sipping. Then I wait 30-40mins and start sipping on my water glass. Then I eat a shake again usually a scoop of unjury chocolate, with 2tbsp PB2, 8 oz of milk and a few ice cubes. Again I can get it all down in about an hour. Then back to my water. Then I have broth with either my GENEPRO unflavored protein in it or the Unjury chicken Soup protein in it, I am straining the light low sodium Soups, (French onion has the best flavor) at dinner time. It usually ends up being about 8oz of liquid between the broth and the water I add. Once again it takes me about 45mis to an hour to get the broth down. This is NOT what I was expecting?? I thought I would only be able to get down a couple ounces at a time and was so worried about getting in my protein and water. Is this fairly usual for being a week out?? My doc has me on full liquids till the 9th, and and then onto the next stage. Now I am not really feeling hunger, but I am getting a full feeling when I am done. I am trying to get in a Breakfast, lunch and dinner. I have sat down with my family both nights while they ate dinner and had my broth. It didn't bother me to do that, it was nice to eat together, and with me taking longer our conversation was longer too. Instead of eating in 15mins jumping up and cleaning up, it was nice. Sorry this is so long but I guess I feel like I am doing everything correctly I don't want to miss anything. I am really looking forward to trying some real chewable food on the 9th, but I don't want to rush anything. I want my tummy to heal. I am down 13lbs in one week and 22.5 since my pre op the week before. I feel pretty good and am going to venture out again in the next couple days. I did go grocery shopping with my hubby on sunday and did pretty good. He says I am doing way better than I think I am. -

I love the Genepro... It saved me... I put it in apple juice... I too could not get all my water and protein in... Made me gag... I am 9 weeks out and I can tell you it gets better! I now out my Genepro in V8 juice! The thing that saved me was sugar free Popsicles .... They kept me hydrated . Good luck! -

Oh no I have not had that problem with Genepro at all. I cannot taste it. I don't always use a full scoop though I spread it out in different things since I can only eat a half a scrambled egg at this point a full tablespoon would be too much for that. I hope it works for you Lexie. It worked for me. -

Side note Jen... genepro Protein mix (you have to order it online) mixes so well with drinks and completely unflavored. I"ve put it in many different things. One scoop is 30 grams of protein -

@@Jennifer Rogers I got the Genepro protein last week from Amazon (because I have trouble getting in my protein too). It's okay. I definitely cannot put it in just anything. I didn't like it in any drinks (too much flavor when it's supposed to be flavorless) and I could taste it in cottage cheese. So far, the only thing I've had it in where I couldn't taste it was I cooked it in a scrambled egg (but only 1/2 a serving). If you find other ways to use it where you can't taste, please let me know.
