Ben And Jerry's Greek Frozen Yogurt
smileygirl posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Just curious to see if anyone has tried this frozen Greek Yogurt and whether or is ok for sleevers? -
I use half low fat mayo and half plain Greek yogurt instead of mayo like when making tuna salad. No difference in taste or texture.

Today, I am 3 weeks out from band to sleeve revision. My 3 week stall started at two weeks out, and I haven't moved since. I am a lightweight (didn't wait to gain all my band weight back when that went down the crapper) and only have another 20-30 lbs to goal. How long did your 3 week stall last? I wonder if I'm done losing already? If I am, so be it, my most pressing need was to make sure that I didn't keep gaining. Also, for reference, I'm eating mostly mushy foods, just starting to work in some actual meat. Yesterday I had turkey lunchmeat for the first time, today I had shredded chicken for the first time. Otherwise I'm doing yogurts, cottage cheese, string cheese, tuna salad, that type of thing. I generally get in my 60-64 oz of Water, and am usually in the 55 -60 g of Protein a day, without using any Protein shakes. Thoughts? How did other lightweights fare?

I'm going to be banded on June 10th!
Banded2bHealthy replied to Junebug36's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Yay... lucky Junebug 36 that you get mushies! I have 5 more days until I move to full liquids. I am pretty tired of liquids although I don't really feel hungry, just tired of drinking the same old, same old. It will be nice to add the variety of applesauce and yogurt and cottage cheese and stuff. I seem to get more 'full' drinking my Protein shake in the AM so and I drink 1/2 and then wait to drink the other 1/2. For my afternoon shake, as long as I drink slow, I can drink the whole 11 ozs. This is not a feeling I am used to (feeling satisfied and able to stop eating/drinking when I am satisfied) and I am loving it. I am only 3 days post-op so I am still struggling with the C02 gas pains but every day it is getting better. So far I have no regrets. -
Post Op -- How Much Till You Were Full?
Sassygirl06 replied to drizzled's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
we are all going to be able to fit different amounts in our sleeves due to the fact that different docs use different bougie sizes. on top of that the docs only change the width of our stomachs, not the length....and everybody has a different length. so that being said...i would definatly measure all of the food first for a while, till you get used to how much makes you feel satisfied and not full. as for me I have noticed that if I am eating meat I get fuller with way less vs eating cottage cheese or yogurt. take it slow and listen to your sleeve....lol.....it will let you know if you are eating to much good luck! -
Lactose intolerant post surgery?
Lisa B replied to Lisa B's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Thanks for the responses, all. And thanks, Jack, for that vision of "old putrified and fermenting products" - that is something that is going to stick with me for a while! (Or hopefully not, as the case may be!) Jachut, fortunately coffee isn't one of my vices, so I'll take your word that's it's the strong stuff that may be setting you off. Interestingly, I saw my doc yesterday for the one-week followup, he's moved me to soft foods, and I've had a couple of yogurts and some cottage cheese since then. No gas today, but yesterday was really bad - keep me up at night, bad. Who the frell knows what it means, but I'm guessing it's another point toward Jack's putrifying remains. Hee, sorry Jack, couldn't resist. PS Jachut - you look awesome and are an inspiration. My excuse is that I'm six years older and I'll never wear a bikini like that! -
Ok Guys.. What Was In Your Menu Today?
otters38 replied to JennyBee's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Good idea!! I am 2 1/2 weeks post op so I am in bandster hell right now, but still trying to stick to eating well. Breakfast--2 egg whites, 1 egg yolk Lunch--1/2 turkey sandwich on whole wheat bread and applesauce Dinner--grilled tilapia, and half of a bacon potato with ff sour cream I didn't add the calories up but from all of the weight watcher days, I know I'm good. Tonight I will either have a ff fudgesicle or yogurt. -
I couldn't stand the Protein drinks at all and so I started eating mushies a couple of weeks earlier than advised. I am now 5 weeks out and I can eat just about anything (slowly and in small amounts), As you know, you have to keep hydrated - have you tried some of the crystal lite additives, or even just a squirt of lemon in your Water? My NUT said that I was becoming "protein intolerant" and so I had to force myself to eat as much mushy stuff as I could stand - liverwurst, tuna, cheese, yogurt, cottage cheese. Can you drink milk ? I certainly wouldn't be concerned about keeping things low fat at this point. You need to eat! What kind of infections did you have? Were you on antibiotics? They can really mess with the flora in your stomach. You may want to make sure you are eating live culture yogurt or take some acidolpholous supplements. I pray that you heal quickly and that your stomach stops being so sensitive.

I'm about 5 weeks post op almost 6 now. I still can not tolerate much. My new tummy hates mashed potatoes, refried beans, avocado, chicken, tuna, and now even my protein shakes. A sip in and up it comes. Im living off iced tea, strained soup and yogurt and sick of it!!! My nut says some heal faster than others and dont get discouraged but how can I not? Im starting to feel regret. A month and a half later and I think, "will I ever eat again???" I have lost weight, yes. But is it because of the constant vomiting??? Ive already been hospitalized for dehydration because I couldnt keep fluids down. Had several infections, and now just sick and tired of feeling sick and tired. Please help. The constant regret and negative thoughts are taking over.

maybe just give solids a try for a week or so ? bananas, sliced apple, nuts, yogurt, 1/2 of a protein bar , or my personal favorite , turkey jerkey ! ( high protein, low in fat and calories.)

I was working a job that I had to leave my house at 7 and had an hour drive. Luckily I had the type of job where I could eat at my desk when I got there. I would have greek yogurt; and in a baggie bring the following to mix in: half scoop vanilla whey isolate Protein powder, tsp benefiber, splendra. This makes the yogurt even thicker. In a second baggie I would carry 1/4 cup Kashi Go lean high protein Cereal. This makes for a really thick mushie. Doctors are concerned that someone will have a Protein shake and being liquid be hungry a hour later. Then the person will be tempted to eat that donut because they are starving and it's hours until lunch.

Dr's prefer you to eat your calories not drink them. The band is designed to work with solid food not liquids, however lots of bandsters are too tight to eat in the morning so they have a shake for breakfast. Maybe you could have yogurt instead and he might be happier with that.

My Dr said I could move past clear liquids week2 but NUT said No
Daisee68 replied to fit2cmygirlsgrow's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had bypass and my surgeon was out of town at first follow up so I saw her partner and she said I had to wait until day 15 to have pureed. Seems every doctor is different and it could be due to your individual circumstances. I think I would err on the side of caution and stick with liquids for another week if you can stand it. it won't hurt as long as you are getting in your Protein. I know that last week is tough. You might look at your booklet again and see if there are any more suggestions of what you can have this last week. Cream Soups? Yogurt? I had popsicles - a lot of them. The cold didn't bother me (luckily). I also (and don't judge me here) had pickle juice. It was great! I wanted the salt and it really helped plus it is used for hydration by some athletes, so I figured hydration couldn't be bad. Not much of it and not all day but it was a good salty taste for a break from the sweetness. Good luck! Hang in there. You are almost there! -
Take a break and slowly reintroduce after a few days with one item and see how it goes. I developed serious lactose intolerance post op. For me, dairy is an absolute no-no, so I had to turn elsewhere for Protein. I cannot tolerate any animal milk, not even Lactaid or goat milk. Sour cream, cream (heavy, light or whipped), yogurt, cottage cheese and most soft cheeses cause me immense discomfort. Ice cream is an absolute forbidden food for me - even the tiniest amount has me sick for the entire day. Whipped cream does the same. Now, some of those foods I'm happy to avoid, but others were very tough to give up. I do okay with hard cheeses like parmesan or aged cheddars, in small doses - but those are hard to find where I'm currently living, so I just do without for the most part. I relied heavily on cottage cheese and yogurt for protein in the beginning so I was lost without them. I finally had to switch my Protein shake to a lactose free one and start mixing with coffee, almond milk or soy milk. I make my own soy milk and from it, yogurt and tofu. I eat these or make seitan when I'm not in the mood for a meat-based meal but I still need protein. I'm not in America, but in the states this isn't as hard to overcome as you might think. There are SO many options to keep you able to eat these foods that you love, provided you don't have an allergy to soy, too! Stateside I can sub out coffee creamer with coconut milk, eat coconut ice cream, enjoy non-dairy sour cream and cream cheese replacements and even order non-dairy cheeses online or find them at my local store. Many of these options are nutritionally similar and will also boost your protein intake a little. The hardest part for me was finding a lactose free protein shake that I enjoyed but I've since found several that I can tolerate. Order samples online if it turns out you do need to change things up. I can tell you that as much as I miss dairy my life is improved very much now that I'm not suffering from discomfort. Good luck. Hopefully you won't have an issue, but even if you do it's not the end of the world. ~Cheri

i am about 25 days out and consume tons of dary ( haha not tons but you know what i mean) i have 2 big 10 oz protein shakes with skim every day, cheeses, yogurt etc.... no issues so far, i hope that i don't have issues.

Chances are at this stage your solid foods will be mushy - apple sauce, mashed potatoes, anything blended (my dietician said one person put a bacon cheeseburger into a blender), things that can be mashed with a fork like peas, yogurt, cottage cheese. Be careful transitioning - you really should avoid fried/battered food like LJS - the battering is just hollow calories and you get less Protein when you eat stuff like that because it fills your limited stomach space.

Any Ideas On Full Liquids
Nicki D replied to brittcherry's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This is what is on my plan: Blenderized / strained soups sugar free yogurt without fruit sugar free pudding thinned oatmeal or cream of wheat Protein powder or non fat milk powder can be added to soups day 12 replace full liquids with soft, moist, diced, ground or pureed protein foods as tolerate Pureed chicken, fish, mashed scrambled eggs, pureed baby food meats Fat free cottage cheese apple sauce or pureed baby foods fruits pureed vegetables or baby vegetables then it changes on day 28 to as tolerated be very careful on fibrous foods as they can get stuck -
Anyone else tried Open Nature Greek frozen yogurt? 150 cals/half cup and 7 gms protein. Not bad!
-
Liquids will pass through your sleeve quickly, so you'll definitely be able to go through those quickly and likely feel almost no restriction. As for food, I also don't measure. I go by feel, and it certainly changes from one day to the next. Sometimes I can finish a whole greek yogurt with granola, sometimes I can only finish half. Based on all the posts I've seen here, ab's research I've done, it doesn't appear that you can really stretch the stomach that much.

I can eat solids sleeved on 4/4 but really haven't tried much can people tell me what they are eating please I have a protein shake for breakfast cottage cheese for lunch and maybe an egg for dinner and then another shake and sometimes a greek yogurt Sent from my SPH-D700 using VST

I probably don't eat as I should, but I eat a way that works for me....every morning I have a slice of peanut butter toast...at around 10 AM I have a Nature Valley protein bar (yum)...12:30 is half a PB&J sandwich....maybe at 3 I'll have a piece of string cheese or an orange....I have whatever I fix my family for supper......and in the evenings I usually always have a TCBY frozen yogurt bar and I always always have my 2.5 cups of white cheddar popcorn. I get around 1200 - 1400 calories a day, but I lack protein (usually getting around 50-60 grams). I eat whatever I want but ALWAYS count my calories on Myfitnesspal.com (which I love). On the weekends I still stay within my calorie range but I'll include a trip to DQ (mini blizzards are great) or whatever treat we're indulging in....but again, I always count the calories.

What Are You Guying Eating At 2 Months
Ms skinniness replied to Rosikah's topic in Food and Nutrition

Frozen fat free yogurt
Rev Me Up! replied to Sheenan's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I found that frozen yogurt made me feel sick after I ate it and I haven't tried it again. Maybe I ate too much? Maybe it was too sweet? Not sure, but make sure you limit yourself and don't overload your sleeve just because it is easy to eat. good luck-- -
So I will be 3 months out on Friday, and have been wondering something. I've been losing at a pace I'm pretty happy with and don't feel deprived at all. I have three meals a day, with one snack during the longer span between lunch and dinner. My calories have been landing between 550-650 per day on average- carbs 40 or below (35 most days, including vitamins) and Protein at 60 or above. My question is this: I've started working out pretty regularly, and the loss has slowed down a bit. I know that's normal, but I always see people saying that if you work out, you have to get in more like 800-900 calories to keep losing. I don't get how that's possible!!!! LOL. Don't get me wrong, it's a great problem to have, but I feel VERY satisfied with what I eat, and can't imagine eating more. So how am I supposed to get in the extra calories to keep the loss going? I can already feel that my stomach has relaxed and I can eat more than I did at the beginning (6-8 weeks post op I didn't exercise and probably only ate about 400 cals per day). But I don't feel like I want to eat much more than I do now.. Here is a sample day of my diet, for reference: Breakfast 3 oz. plain Greek yogurt 8 blueberries 6 almonds Lunch 2 oz. homemade turkey meatloaf 1 oz. mozzarella cheese 1/4 cup sauteed veggies Snacks 1 stick of string cheese 1 tall soy cafe au lait Dinner 2 Trader Joe's turkey meatballs 1/4 cup bolognese sauce 1/8 cup shredded cheese If I'm still hungry, maybe 1 tbsp natural Peanut Butter before bed All of that only totals up to about 700 calories, which is at the higher end range for me. I'm really satisfied eating meals like these and not hungry in between. So if anyone can advise on where you put the extra calories to help when you're working out, or advise on whether that's really necessary, that would be appreciated!

I was on soft foods by 3 weeks although every doctors office seems to be different. I ate a lot of yogurt, cottage cheese, chicken breast cut up very small and very juicy, fish such as salmon also not dried out, I was a,so eating cooked vegetables. I don't like canned vegetables so I either did fresh or frozen but cooked until very tender. I remember having to take things extremely slow at that time or I would get chest pain. Every week, things will get better and better. Good luck on the next phase of your diet.
