First off, let me just say what a wonderful thread this is and I hope that it will keep getting added too. I know I definitely will be back with more NSV's in the future...but for now here is my first public NSV; like 9 months ago I went to a fellow SAHM's house for a playdate and she invited me out onto her back porch so that we could keep an eye on the kids playing in the back yard. Well to my panic I looked around and noticed that all the patio chairs had "arms" on them and I could tell by just looking that there was no way my rear end was going to fit (even to squeeze - which I can't do due to some nerve damage in my left thigh from a severe car accident 10 years ago). So I just stood there like an idiot as she sat down and sipped her drink. Now it was obvious that something was wrong cos' how stupid does it look when having a conversation while one person is sitting and the other is just standing there! Anyway, she ended up asking me if I'd like to sit and I felt I had to tell her what the problem was, even though it was extremely embarrassing, so she went in to the house and brought me out one of her dining room chairs w/o arms. I was just glad that it was only the two of us. Anyway, my NSV happened last week when I went over to this same friends house and again we went to the back porch...and there where those same patio chairs; but this time without really thinking about it, I sat down!!! And low and behold - I FIT!!! It wasn't a perfect fit but it was comfortable enough that it didn't bother my thigh. I was so elated I even mentioned it to her and she was like "oh yeah, right I remember now...that's awesome!!!" ... So there it is, sorry for the long description but I wanted you to have the whole picture since it was an important moment!!! Peace to all. KKG

I have a NSV!!! I had surgery October 26th 2007 and did my measurements the day before surgery. I just redid them yesterday (3 months post op) and had gone down 6 (SIX!) inches in my abdomen!!! (around my belly button). That was amazing to me and I had to remeasure about ten times to make sure I hadn't gotten it right. I have only lost about 18 pounds, which is discouraging to me, but that brightened my day a lot!!!

Update on my personal Labor Day challenge goal, and some other random stuff!
Forsythia posted a blog entry in Forsythia's Blog
You might recall my Labor Day goal that I posted in a blog entry awhile back. That goal was 235. As of this morning, I am 240.5. I think I can do it, kids!!! I originally thought it would be a stretch but it appears to be close at hand. Honestly anything in the 230s will make me pleased as punch. I am going back to Indiana that weekend to see my parents (It is also my Mom's birthday on the 30th) and I know they will be proud of my weight loss. They have not seen me since Memorial Day. That was only a few weeks post surgery, maybe 25 lb lost. Now I'm over 70 lbs lost. My Dad is utterly fascinated by the whole thing. He and I have always struggled with our weight. So he is really happy that I am losing so much and being so successful. He says he is too old to have such a surgery (he's 72, but I think he could do it just fine, we tend to be good healers), so I think he is living vicariously through me. Yesterday I had my belated 3 month visit. Dr. Hungness was so pleased with my progress. He actually seemed quite floored when I told him I am in the gym 5 days a week. I seem him again in three more months - so six months post op. He said they will be doing some labs. We'll find out if my vitamin D level has recovered. Although my nurse practitioner will probably be drawing for my HgA1C sooner than that since she manages my diabetes. She usually tests for Vitamin D and most of the tests he will be looking for. My daily sugar levels continue to be good. In the mornings I used to always be scary high. Now I am consistently between 85 and 110. I had an exercise related NSV while at the gym yesterday. I used to always get pins and needles when I used the elliptical after about 15 minutes. Basically it was like my feet were falling asleep. I used to struggle to do 20 minutes on it - not because I was exhausted, but because the pins and needles were so painful. Yesterday I was on the elliptical for 35 minutes. I realized about 30 minutes in that the pins and needles were not happening at all. So clearly that issue was due to me being over 300 lbs. And, I got this outfit from fabletics.com (my apologies if you cannot see it): http://www.fabletics.com/index.cfm?action=shop.viewproduct&featured_product_location_id=0&product_id=1439782&psrc=my_looks&master_product_id=1439782&original_master_product_id=1439782 I wore the tank to the gym yesterday. It was a little bit exposing. But no one looked at me strangely. No one said I was too fat for it. There was no side eye! I'm just so happy to have more choices in gym wear! -

well for me at least. Today, one of my consumers (I work with disabled persons) asked me if she could pick up pizza for lunch. Pizza (and for some strange reason strawberry milk) have been my more severe cravings! I reluctantly agreed. When she brought the pizza in the car it smelled sooo good. I realized then that the pizza does not need to be eaten to be enjoyed... hello I have other senses! I decided to enjoy the smell of pizza and honestly, it worked! I didnt feel the need to eat it. I guess this would be consider an NSV. Just wanted to share, I guess. Hope you are all doing great!

Surgery? Overall Summary. Yes Or No?
Rico replied to betterthanbefore's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Its worth every single second of it People talk about the surgery being "life changing" and its very true .. People talk about how happy they are because they are achieving NSV's which is really cool too.. But you need to know that VSG is also a "life saving" procedure. I was on the verge of being a diabetic and have major heart disease but all of that disappeared with VSG. Good luck -

November Nymphs Lets Talk Weight Loss!
hollyberries replied to hollyberries's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Craig- Great job, Man! You should be very proud of yourself. Missed being on the board while I was in PA. Don't know if I gained or lost while I was gone. I am going to weigh in tomorrow. Gotta tell you that I worked my tail off in PA. We were buying and loading a 16' truck with all the goodies. Before going on the trip I had to buy some pants. Well, I was down 4 sizes and this size won't last long because they are already getting big. Yeah! Lots of NSV moments for all. Cindy -
So my pound loss hasn't been that speedy as I've mentioned in my other posts, but I still have much to be grateful for. My pants are much looser...which feels good. I have more energy, and I am able to do more cardio in a day. I've also noticed that my belly is finally smaller than my boobs!!! I haven't seen this happen in almost 3 years! Today I took my measurements in hopes of having a comparison for the future during my weight loss stalls. I am still excited about my new journey and I am still happy about my decision.

I can't wait til I can slide into a booth and not worry about fitting!! Congrats on this NSV!!! -
Great NSVs Kathy! I have avoided everyone else's NSV lists till now cause I just didn't want to tackle my own LOL! Funny, but we have some of the same NSVs. I love the wedding ring NSV the best! As far as panties, try to find some hip huggers made for plus size women. I had the saggy panty butt too & they solved the problem for me. Keep em coming! You're doing great!

I got into the shower with hubby the other day. It was late afternoon, broad daylight, the kids were napping. I'm so wild!!!! I'd have NEVER done that a year ago. Certainly not 2 years ago at 240+. And it was 2 years ago around this time when I weighed 240+ and in tears and desperation went to Curves. They kept wanting me to make an appointment for measuring and training but I wanted IN!!! I couldn't wait to give them my money! Best thing I ever did. I got strong there, went on to another gym with childcare and got as healthy as I could be at 220. Then I got stuck, and a year ago started researching Lap Band, logged onto LBT and have been here ever since. See? I joined LBT in Jan 2005. Wow. My life has improved in so many ways this past year. I have more NSV's with pics to post...coming soon.

Kathy's Slow Loser NSV List
banded_for_life replied to the best me's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Congratulations Kathy!!! You wrote some inspiring NSV's! -
At my high weight of 242? or so, I was 40.3 BMI, morbidly obese. Surgery weight was 223. That's a 37.1 BMI, Severely Obese Today, Im 192.6, BMI of 32, that's Obese. My mini-goal is 188 for the Fall challenge, that will put me at 31.3 BMI, still Obese When I hit 180, I'll have a 30BMI, still obese. I will need to weigh 175 in order to be just overweight. Wait, isn't this an NSV thread? Arrggghhhh! I'm getting my threads mixed up!

Woohooo! They actually look smaller (to me) than 40D's when they are up where they belong and not dangling like tear-drop pendulums... so, another NSV. I keep having to adjust the driver seat in my old mini-van. I don't sit in the seat the same. I move it forward, back, up and down trying to get upright enough without cutting off the circulation in my lower legs. I think I finally got it, now if I can just avoid hitting the button on the side of the seat accidently and moving something. And the spill-spot on the part of my seatbelt that goes across the front of me has moved. It used to be in the center of my chest where spills happen, ya know, coffee, drippy burgers eaten on the run...now it's higher up because I need less belt to go across me! wooohooo!! Of course, now that I have adjusted the seat so much, it's hard to compare just how far it has moved, but I'll take it anyhow! NSV's are great!

Another NSV. I can't cook the same. I always like to have leftovers so DH can have a hot lunch if he comes home the next day or two, and I always like to have something cooked and handy, but I keep having to throw them away! Oh no! Hubby's not eating less, kiddos aren't either...I'm just not plowing through leftovers like I used to and it's beginning to become apparent where they all went before...ME! So I cook less food. Isn't that odd? I find that so odd, not sure why. Just one of those moments, I guess. While I'm here, I got my second fill last Wed (few days ago) and it's going well. I did liquids for a few days and then soft mushies and have been adding in regular foods a bit, and boy, oh...I feel it. Doc said I have 2cc now but I think he just filled me tight, then unfilled till the Water I was drinking went through and pulled out the needle. I don't think he has a clue how much went in. So I think it's helping and I may be headed into the 180's after all. Yay! Eating slow and careful now, and DH is on a week-long fishing trip so I'm cooking even less this week! I miss him already, he left this morning. OH! While I was at the doc's office, he siad, "...and when you get down to around 160 or so I'll do your tummy tuck" What? He's no plastic surgeon! Anyhow, he drew on my tummy and showed me what would go, holy moly!!! I took pics of the drawings. And I guess here's another NSV, maybe? My belly is looking really awful. Stretch marks, blubbery, flimsy skin, egads, it's ugly. I'm losing weight there and it's really getting bad, like what you would see on TV bad. ewww. so maybe it's not and NSV? The jury is out on that one. I'll see what my ugly belly drawings look like on the 'puter when I get them loaded and if they aren't God-awful, I'll post them. I hate to promise that...ewwww. Time for baths for the kiddos. Happy NSV's everyone!

Hi Kathy, Great to see you again on the boards. I'm down about 25 lbs since June 6th. I am concentrating on the NSV and the other day I finally go into a size 22 jean. I was thrilled. Best of luck to our slow losers. We have to keep the faith.

Calling all Texas Bandsters
JosieK replied to girl55's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
hi everyone, i was banded 3/30/07 by dr spivak. getting the lapband was the best decision i ever made. it is one tool of many we need to lose weight. i am still a work in progress trying to maintain. enjoy the ride. it is exciting when you have the NSV's in addition to the scale victories. such as getting into a smaller size, seeing my collar bones for the first time in years (this was big for me), not shopping in lane bryant. i lived until recently in Katy. since beeing banded i met a great guy and we are getting married in october. the best gift of the band is to get my self respect back... anyway best of luck to all my texas sisters and brothers. there are alo of us on the site which is nice... josie -
Sounds great! I lost about 40 before my surgery which was last week. I've already started a very large pile of clothes that are too big. Trying to decide between donating and going to a consignment store so I could at least get a few dollars back. And I'm checking out smaller sizes at Goodwill to get me through the next months when everything will be changing quite a bit. I love this idea for a topic NSV! Sent from my SM-G920V using the BariatricPal App

I buttoned my shorts today (day #3 post-op) without having to pull both sides tight and sucking in my gut! First NSV of many to come.

This guy tripped and fell staring at me the other day lol. He got up and said to me, "you are soooo beautiful"! I told him thank you, and he just kept following me around the store (a little weird lol)- I had to turn him down, I'm going on 8 years with my BF but it was still very cute. It's funny how these things happen when you start losing weight- I haven't dealt with such things since high school lol. P.S. I attached a new pic :smile1: All smiles! Loving the new me :smile1:
