I tried to use GENEPRO in my coffee this morning but it got lumpy and then I found a lot at the bottom when I was done. Anyone have a trick for me to get it to blend smoothly? My coffee mug is probably 1.5 cups

Following the rules
Kindle replied to Unhappysleever's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm 11 months out and I do have a large (24-32oz) protein/fiber smoothie everyday. I'm getting 30-40g Protein from that so I DONT have to think about what I eat the rest of the day. I am free to eat healthy, balanced meals and Snacks, basically whatever I'm in the mood for, whether it's protein or fruit or veggies or whole grains. I also fill a 32 oz Water bottle in the morning and make sure it's gone before I go to bed so between that and the smoothie, I'm not thinking about fluids, either. Anything else I drink during the day (coffee, tea, juice, Vitamin water, etc) is just bonus. Personally, I like creating new flavors with all my shake powders, Torani syrups, and fruit....rarely have the same thing more than a couple times/month. But if you aren't a fan of the drinks, how about adding a Quest bar into your day? That's 20g protein with just one snack. Or if you are easily able to get in enough liquid, how about adding GENEPRO protein to whatever it is you're drinking? I have never used it, but people rave about how well it mixes in anything and has zero taste. In any case, it sounds like you've had luck losing weight, now you just need to find a way to maintain and still remain healthy (and happy). Finding a way to make postop life simple and easy = long term success. -
Protein powder recommendations?

I just want to say that I ordered this Genepro (NUT okayed it) and I did not care for it. It changed the consistency of my food and was very gritty. -
Protein Drink That Isn't Sweet?
Tashabella replied to Connorsmama7's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
You do get really fed up with the sweet stuff. I have been having fat free Soups (no lumps, chunks, etc.) with Protein powder in them at least once a day to break it up so it's not so monotonous. I don't get soft food until the middle of next week. I bought GENEPRO Genetic Tri-Protein Peptide Powder online from Amazon and it came the next day. I saw a post on this site where someone recommended it. It only takes 1 tablespoon and it mixes well with my soups. What I do is put the powder in a glass and add a few teaspoons of hot soup and stir it to make a paste and then slowly add more soup and stir, repeat. It blends really well this way. Other people say they mix it in their beverages, including Water, and can't tell it's there. This Protein Powder has been a blessing for me!!! -
Regrets after Gastric Sleeve Surgery, is this normal?

@@JennsinCA Hi, Can you tell me where you purchase genepro? I am currently using pure protein in a shake, but I like the idea of adding it to yogurt. I looked online but was not able to find it. Thanks -
thanks ladies! @@Beni the doctor told me to go play the lotto lmao. the hematologists said the risk of bleeding out outweighs the risk of my clot not dissolving and they said no more blood thinners for me. they actually said it should dissolve faster now that my blood count is low. i just went for a walk to the post office to get my measuring bowl that i bought, i wasnt really measuring food now i am going to start. its funny i thought i was eating 2oz of cheese and after measuring it was only 1.5 lol. and i measured some salad and a lot of lettuce is like 1oz lol. beni, im on the same boat with you eating 2oz of food, it didnt concern my surgeon. i supplement with genepro and a water/juice concoction. they also want me to get 90 grams of protein now instead of 70, blah looks like 2 concoctions and 30 grams towards food throughout the day to make it.

Question for people who use Genepro protein powder
carolk36 replied to Amyly2n's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
@@Okiebon I wanted to let you know what my friend just texted me about her labs. She uses only GENEPRO as her suppliment. Our surgeon checked her CBC, B12, Folic Acid, Potassium, Magnesium, Serum Protein (total), Vitamin D, Calcium, Iron, HQ AIC, Lipid Panel, and PTH, and ALL of her labs came back great! I have the order for my labs and will get blood work done in December. As soon as I get the results back I will let you know. Genepro did the job. I sent the website to my NUT and surgeon's office before I started taking it and both approved it. I was concerned about it not being whey isolate since we were told that was the best protein and what we should be using. This is her email response: "Hey Carol, Whey peptide is completely appropriate. It's basically just the isolate form broken down one step further so if you like it, keep drinking it!" Hope this helps. Carol -
Regrets after Gastric Sleeve Surgery, is this normal?

I am buying 5oz greek yogurts that have 11g protein and then I put 1 scoop/1TBS of genepro unflavored protein powder (30g) and that gives me 41g of protein in 5oz of yogurt. If I can get down 2 of those a day that gives me 82g of protein which is pretty good for only 10oz -
Ask your doctor about GENEPRO Protein, I tried a sample from them of their ultra refined powder and mixed it in with everything from hot tea and coffee to Peanut Butter and cream cheese on a cracker. It literally has no taste and doesn't mess with the consistency of things, but I have a hard time buying that its protein content is as high as it claims. I haven't asked my doc about it yet but will see him in late December so if you see yours first, go for it. Try it out too, you can get a little sample pack from them for like 1.50 on amazon it has a lot of great reviews and only one or two not so great.

I just ordered some Syntrax nectar in Cookies and cream, and unflavored GENEPRO off amazon. I saw some really awesome reviews on these. Of course I got them to stockpile, as I can't even enroll in the bariatric plan till 1/2/15, but you better believe, I'll be calling at 8am bright and early to get this party started!!

Help! Can't stand Protein Drinks

GENEPRO unflavored Protein powder will save you! You can add it to anything! I mean that! I add to crystal light, pudding, shakes, Soups, cream of wheat, anything puréed. You have to order it but it's gonna save my life! I'm getting some decaf sugar free coffee mix and I'll have one each morning with my genepro and almond coconut milk. Awesome! -
Cream of wheat made with Water, once cooked (runny consistency) splash of almond coconut milk, 1 scoop GENEPRO unflavored Protein, drop of pure vanilla, tsp of light agave . This fills me up and gives me a good base to get my Vitamins in. Perfect breakfast! Try it! Used to eat steel cut oats all the time but this will work for now!

Protein powder help

I use a ninja blender then if I have to refrigerate for a while before drinking it, I put it in a blender bottle and just shake it up works perfectly. I use Genepro Which is 30 grams of protein for about a tablespoon of powder and I also use U njury. If I mix Genepro chocolate splendor and 8 ounces of skim milk I get 59 grams of protein. Then I don't stress out about getting all my protein in. It's works for me and my Nut approved as long as my other meals are protein also. I have not had any stalls in my 13 weeks post op. Idk if that is why or not but I feared the "stalls" so many people talk about. Grateful I haven't had those as I am not a very patient person. -

Have you heard of Genepro unflavored protein powder? I was drinking the Premier Protein shakes but I got to where I just couldn't stand to take one more drink of them. I read about Genepro on here in another thread, and they were raving about how great it is, so I decided to give it a try. I love it! One scoop is only about a tablespoon, and it has 30g protein and only 98 calories. I use it in my morning decaf coffee with sweetener and sugar free creamer, and I use it throughout the day in my sugar free beverages. -
I went back to coffee after 3 weeks post op.i couldn't deal with the constipation any longer!!back to normal now and I only need 1 cup o joe when I wake up!!!I do drink 2 or ps thruout the day now and im 6 weeks post op.i also put a tablespoon of genepro in my first cup every morning.

Question for people who use Genepro protein powder

Honest truth about genepro protein powder
Okiebon replied to PittsburghRNYgirl9814's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
It sounds like you're doing pretty well with the GENEPRO. I've read so many good reviews on it that I decided to go ahead and purchase a couple of sample packets so I can give it a try. Hearing good results like yours really makes me hope it works well for me. I'd like to have one Protein supplement that will work in most anything I want to put it in. May I ask....what kinds of problems are you having with meat? I haven't had my surgery yet, and it hadn't occurred to me that there could be problems with eating meat afterward. I've always been a meat and potatoes person who eats meat with every meal. -
Honest truth about genepro protein powder

I had my blood work done last month. I was right on target with my Protein. I use GENEPRO daily. I may occasionally go by a Protein Drink shop and buy a shake. I depend at least 65-75% of my protein from Genepro.....I am still having problems with meat. Greek Yogart is too sweet.....so I rather use Genepro. -
Is this correct? Standards for carbs and proteins as per dietitian....
Katcloudshepherd replied to natalie_christin's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I don't count calories or worry about fat. I concentrate on getting that 64 ounces of Water first, then getting my Protein in. I get a MINIMUM of 60 grams. I keep my carbs as low as possible--although I don't count them so to speak. I just make sure whatever I eat is extremely low in carbs. I find I do much better if I get MORE than 60 grams of protein a day. I live on GENEPRO unflavored Protein powder and Quest bars. I work full time, commute a total of 1.5 hours a day to work/home and my husband is 100% disabled. I just don't have the time to cook. The least expensive source of protein would probably be eggs. I think as far as meats, chicken and turkey are less expensive than beef. Fish, depending on what type, would probably be as expensive, or more so than beef. I haven't been able to exercise this week, I've been sick with an upper respiratory infection. I hope to get back in the pool next week. I haven't lost weight in some time. I think I've hit a plateau. If I don't loose any more--it's fine with me since I'm down to a good size. I'm not worried about a number on a scale, or a clothes size--as long as I feel good and can move well that is my primary concern. -

@@Okiebon I am scheduled for my 3 month follow-up next week, and I assume I will be getting bloodwork then. I'll post and let you know after I get my results. I also have a friend I met in our support group who is a month ahead of me, who is also using only GENEPRO, and I'll contact her and see if she's had blood work yet and what her results were. So far, I've had no problems. I've not noticed any hair loss yet and I have tons of energy, and my weight loss is pretty steady. Carol -
I had the same question as the OP about GENEPRO. Has anyone actually had blood work done to check their Protein levels since starting on Genepro? I mean lab results from your own doctor that show it works as they claim it does? I'm interested, but their claims sound too good to be true. I don't want to take it thinking I'm getting the protein my body needs after bypass surgery and then find out it's all a sham. But I haven't seen one review yet that's supported by factual evidence of protein levels in the body after taking the product for any length of time. Have you had any other noticeable results (or problems) since you started taking Genepro?

Protein Supplements

I use GENEPRO unflavored Protein powder. It's a smaller amount of powder and the granules are smaller. You get 30 grams of protein per tablespoon. What I like about it is the unflavored part. It does add a very small amount of milk flavor. In the summer, when it's hot, I add it to milk and the juice from a package of thawed frozen fruit. The frozen fruit I buy is ONLY the fruit. The only sugar you get is from the natural fruit. I've added it to decaffeinated coffee as well, when I was unable to drink caffeinated coffee right after surgery. In the winter, I add it to my oatmeal. I make up a package of instant oatmeal, add some coconut manna, (it's basically a coconut in a jar), add some walnuts, almonds or pecans and a dash of milk. I add stevia if it's regular oatmeal and if it's the flavored low sugar kind no sweetener. I've also added it to the low sugar hot chocolate. I had some in some Soup yesterday. It was good. Like I said it adds a slight milk taste so keep that in mind. I've never added it to any citrus flavored fruits. I wouldn't advise you to purchase a large amount of the Protein shakes before surgery as my tastes changed and I got so sick of the super sweet ones. I order it on Amazon. Good luck on your upcoming surgery. I hope you have a routine surgery and super easy recovery. Blessings, Kathleen
