Dec 10th sleeves? How are you?
Radwilk replied to gingerRN's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am down about 33 lbs. My diet changed today to include regular foods as tolerated. My soft diet included chicken and tuna so I pushed that to turkey and well ground beef and even pork. So far I hadn't consumed anything that I wasn't already eating. I think my cravings for sodas has increased, however I am better tolerating being around normal folks while they are eating. I really wish I could go to the restroom (probably drop some weight if I weren't so stopped up). TMI? Hesitant to take something that isn't gentle. I don't know exactly how much protein and oz I am getting. I just eat low/no carb and highest protein I can. Doc probably wouldn't like that but I hate all shakes. I have yet to try unjury, but my package of it came today so we'll see. -
I hate to think what the cleaning people in my office think when emptying my garbage.... at times I find I have to PB (is that it) in my garbage can... as gross as this sounds, and I know it's TMI, I just have to get that "slime" up out of my throat.... very little food comes up, just a bunch of nasty slime... I'm sure this is the lubricant trying to get the food all the way down to my stomache. So this morning I ate a boiled egg and a few slices of bacon in the car on my 45 minute drive to work... I was fine... then I got to my desk and started to feel it and had to PB.... or is it PM... whatever, I had to do it.... So I'm down to 203! closer and Closer to breaking 200! Oh Praise the LORD! Gotta work now so latas  Desi:rolleyes2:

@@scstxrn thank you for your advice. Today marks the first day I'm able to constantly sip without feeling intense gas pain. So that's a win today! Although I fear I'm a bit dehydrated because (tmi) urine is very dark. So I'm really going to give liquids my best shot today.

Week 1 Post-op Advice & Experiences
smmrsue replied to Bree03's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I had surgery on Wednesday 10/23, have been doing good so far. Today was the worst and it wasn’t that bad. Took one pain pill today. I stayed one night in the hospital and have been doing good sipping liquids. Sometimes, especially at first swallowing hurt in my stomach, not my throat. Now it only slightly hurts if I sip too much too often. I have not been hungry at all. I know that might change when the swelling goes down, but I like not being hungry. So far so good! Also, probably TMI but I wish I would’ve waited on the stool softener. They offered me two in the hospital and I took them. Went a lot yesterday and being a big girl it was harder to get clean and very uncomfortable. Lol I obviously got clean but it wasn’t pleasant. Wish I would have waited a few days. -
Advice on getting fluids first week post op
XtinaDoesIt replied to BayouTiger's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm happy to hear this!!! I'm on day 11 today. Yesterday I found that I could drink water "normally." AND (tmi) I took a solid poop! All of a sudden today, I feel so much better! So just hang in there a bit more! I also started on puree/soft foods yesterday and I think it made all the difference for me. I think I can "eat" my food better than I can drink it. Let us know when you get to the "yay, I feel ok" stage. -
Maybe tmi but has anyone passed stool or something like it?
-
I feel the same way about TMI, but we all need to share all of our medical stuff so we know that it can be common or can happen. Oh well thats what im having, no attacks or pain, just the weird bowel movements. it seems like the food i eat is just not being digested. I think i better go see my LAP surgeon and set up a date for GB removal.

well, this is TMI for most people, but I had multiple greasy, loose BMs daily well before diagnosis even. That ended about 2 weeks after the surgery. So goodbye to that AND to the pain. I could not have been happier!

banded 2/19, having a bad day, need some support
great expectations replied to Laura P's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I know how you must feel. I still have problems passing gas more frequently. I have just resolved that it is a natural bodily function and , oh well. At least they are not really smelly (TMI). As for vitamins, I take chewable Centrum. Orange flavor and not too bad either. Wal Mart has these proteing shots-26gm of protein in fruit punch flavor. I add one to a bottle of crystal light and just sip on it until it is gone. I find when I am just sipping all day, I can down more than I realize. Hang in there....this too shall past!:cursing: -
I've been banded since 5/13. I've lost 55 lbs and love my band. I had a problem at first of band being to full. They removed from 4 cc down to 1/2 cc the 1st month and I've been fine up till now. I notice that I'm not really hungry but I can eat more than I was plus I am having severe I mean severe flatulence. I no that's probably TMI but has anyone had this problem? If you stay on low side of fills does it stretch out or what? If anyone ever experienced any of these problems please let's communicate. I go back first part of March and am so afraid of getting a fill due to the pain I was in with it initially. Thanks! !

Things I did not think about, that losing weight would change
GoingforGoal replied to kca1fan's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
hahah let's see how many I can come up with (btw I love the laundry calculation ahhah) 1. I can fit more clothes in a suitcase for trips (or leave enough room to go shopping and bring it all back) bahhahahha 2. I can fit on rollercoasters, airplane seats and any other close or small sitting arrangement without feeling like I'm going to get booted or take over someone else's space 3. crossing legs..def 4. (TMI moment:) better sex, more flexible, more positions...and wearing lingerie with the lights on (you get the drift) 5. I can see my toes, I can bend, sit indian style etc..just overall more flexible 6. I have a major spinal issue in my lower back and the wl has helped tremendously relieving symptoms But while on topic..here's the things wl has done that I don't like 1. I cant tell the diff between my son (10 yo) and my clothes when folding laundry some times = wasting time ahhaha 2. I can't manhandle my bull mastiff (130 lbs) when he wants to pull on his leash (hey some counterweight is useful hahaha) 3. my children can overtake me in our wrestling matches 4. I have this addiction to buying clothes in the junior section (their clothes CAN BE way cuter lol) hahaaha -

Tim Horton's Honey Cruller. It WAS my favorite donut of all time. Nowadays it keeps me tied to the toilet for hours if I eat one...sorry TMI. Haven't had one since March- only time I tried it post-op. -
i know..everything seems to be like that...luckily it worked.. however..i tried that with him with the breast ..i know..tmi...i nursed until he was 2...no taste at all was making him give that up..haha..and there was only so much i could subject myself to. i'm sure i created his oral fixation..hopefully he never starts smoking.

What happens if you get the flu?
With His help posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm not getting banded until January. But, I just had a stomach virus which brought up the question what if I had already been banded? There was alot of vommiting involved (sorry for TMI) and it really scared me to think about what happens with the band in place. Would it dislodge the band? Cause choking? Has anyone had experience with this? Honestly, I can't remember the last time I was sick like this, so I don't expect it to be a frequent issue, just curious and trying to answer all the questions pre-surgery. Thanks, Stephanie -
Pretty sure I f***ed up the sleeve. No leak, but I might as well have never gotten it.
bonniefide replied to throwaway557's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have to agree with what most people are saying, which is that you should stop blaming outside circumstances that could be changed and instead look inward, being very blunt and realistic with yourself. Alcohol should not be consumed by people who have had a sleeve for ideally 6 months to one year after surgery. There is a special digestive enzyme in your stomach that processes alcohol. Since 85% of your stomach has been removed, there is very little of that enzyme (if any) to process alcohol. You could actually end up with alcohol poisoning and be in the hospital getting your stomach pumped. If cereal is a "trigger" food (a food that you can't seem to stop eating once you start) then don't buy it. There are a ton of things that I just can't buy because I know I can't control myself and I will eat all of it! Grocery stores sell pre-cooked chickens, usually for $5. If you want something quick and easy, you could get a chicken and eat off of that for a few days. Also, Protein shakes with milk will give you protein and what your body needs to feel full. I tried Isopure Water for the first time today. It smells kinda weird but tastes OK... and dang, it filled me up. I'm actually burping! (TMI) Support groups work when you work the program. Do you think it would be acceptable for an alcoholic to attend an AA meeting if they just kept drinking and drinking, week after week, year after year? Just going will not help someone until they actually hit rock bottom and make the decision to stop. The point is, it is horribly difficult... horribly horribly difficult to stop eating... (I am literally fighting it every minute of the day) but it is something you have to fight just like any other addict. Your stomach is not likely stretched all the way out, but you could be doing damage to your insides. Your hair is falling out because you are not consuming nutrients. The majority of people who get a VGS will have hair fall out - this is because your body is working to keep the more important parts of your body working (like internal organs and muscles) and ignores things like hair, nails, and skin. I've noticed in a lot of your posts you mention things you can't do, such as not being able to cook. I can't cook either, and that was a big fear of mine. So, what am I going to do? I'm going to sign up for cooking classes. In the meantime, I look up stuff on youtube that looks basic enough for someone who can burn water! My nutritionist gave me smoothie recipes that use frozen fruit and yogurt. The frozen fruit doesn't go bad for ages (cuz it's frozen) and the yogurt isn't anything fancy. Then I just add Protein powder and put it in a blender. It literally takes 5 minutes and you can't screw it up. To conclude, it's easy for anyone to tell you what to do; however, you sound very depressed on top of everything else, so anything people tell you to do will seem unrealistic. I have been through therapy myself and was on antidepressants from the time I was 15 up until last year when I finally got good therapy (I'm 33 now). So, I do understand depression... everyone is just like, "Well... don't be sad. Think positive." Gee.... why didn't I think of that? I'm cured! haha. The point I'm trying to make is, PLEASE reach out for help... either to your primary doctor to work with you on getting the correct type of medication for you, or to a licensed therapist that can help you through this. If you can work through some of these issues in a non-judgmental environment, you will feel more positive about your outlook in life, then things kind of click into place slowly but surely. -
Wow i never thought i would see that again!!

:tongue2:IT'S SO FUNNY TO ME THAT I WOULD GET SO EXCITED ABOUT THE LITTLE THINGS LIKE THAT! I WAS JUST WANTING TO SEE IF ANYONE ELSE FELT THE SAME WAY!! IT'S NOT TMI BUT I WILL SAY PEOPLE WILL SOON FEEL THE WAY WE DO TRUST ME!! I'M SO HAPPY! THANKS HUGS & SMILES:wink:JENN! -
Jami, I am suffering the same pain you are....left hand side, under my breast. The doctor told me that it's inflammation around the port and assured me that it will get better. Actually today it's doing a lot better than it was and I had surgery on Monday. I had a problem with the constipation. I hadn't gone since last Sunday. It was like cement (I know, TMI). I took stool softeners and that didn't work. Finally had to take a dulcolax suppository and that worked. Now to prevent it (which I hope it does), I'm taking 1 tablespoon of Miralax everyday in a hot cup of tea. You don't even taste it. I also am adding 2 teaspoons of Benefiber to my Protein shakes in the hope that will help. I just keep telling myself this is all for a good cause. I want to be healthy. It's hard to stay positive when you feel so crappy but we have to try Just know, I'm feeling your pain too.

This morning I did my norm morning routine. Got up pottied and got on the scale before dressing (TMI I know, but it is always best to weigh in you birthday suit). The hubs walks in and hugs me and says "geez I can reach my elbows when I wrap my arms around you". Then he said "I'm proud of you babe, but don't get so skinny I have to shake the sheets to find ya". For those who don't know my husband is visually impaired. His vision is 20/800 - legally blind since birth. Granted he is well educated graduated with honors with a degree in computer science and is a well respected software engineer. He just can't see very well. So it's always been the running joke that he feel for me because I was large print (he always replied to that with you said that not me). Now he is joking saying I am getting so small he won't be able to see me anymore. The joking is all in fun- he is very supportive of my weight loss journey and is helping me leaps and bounds. But I must say it would be nice for him to have to shake the sheets to find me

sudden symptoms: diarrhea/nausea - please help
katikati posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sorry for TMI. I had my first bowel movement post-op this morning. Since that time I have had diarrhea 4 times. I woke up after an hour of sleeping and had the 4 attack of diarrhea. About 30 minutes later, I am having a sudden attack of the first nausea I've had since the first day after my surgery. Is this normal? Should I be concerned? I took a promethazine. Waiting for it to work. -
I thought maybe I did, cause my belly hurt so much last night. But then I farted. TMI?? Who knew gas could hurt so much? I sure didnt before I got this surgery!!

TMI - explosive diarrhea days after surgery?
takingbackcontrol posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sorry, kind of embarrassing but I need to know if this is concerning. I'm on the 4th day post-op, and having terribly liquid diarrhea that is preceded by loud gurgling in my intestines. I feel like I can't go out and walk too long or I might have an accident. Is this normal? ugh, how long will it last? -
Hey Guys, I am 1 week post op as of today. I was sleeved 6/14. Did any of you have problems with you body processing your protein? I have tried it with 1% milk, 1% lactaid, and water. With in 10 min I break out into a cold sweat and then have to rush to the bathroom with diarrhea. Tmi, I know. But I have to figure this out because I met with my doc today and he told me to try with Lactaid, which I did when I got home and same thing happened. Please let me know. Thanks! Awkward Question About Protein Shakes..
mrsmyers2010 posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Ever since I started working Protein shakes into my diet (official pre-op diet starts next Wednesday..!) I've had some serious stomach upset issues. I'm wondering if this is normal/ happens a lot, or no? I'm really worried considering I'm only having it as 1 Meal Replacement right now, I can't even imagine what next week will bring when I'm having them 3+ times a day! Please tell me this is normal and my tummy will adjust =/ (Sorry for the TMI!) -
Delay of Menstruation After Surgery
valkyrie88 replied to msuero's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Thank you for this thread. I'm one month out and haven't had a period yet, just spotting, which looked like old blood (sorry if that's tmi) . I was starting to get worried but it's comforting to know others are going through this .
