NSV Thread for the May Bandsters!

My most recent NSV is my last doctor appointment. I had to visit a new ob/gyn and of course I had to tell her I had the band. She told me my weight and blood pressure are "PERFECT" and when she was doing the breast exam she checked out my scars and was like ok so it was laproscopic and if you hadn't told me that you had lapband surgery I would have thought it was gall bladder surgery because the scars match and your skin is great, no excess, no stretch marks. She went on to tell me her father is a Plastic Surgeon and that he frequently does surgery after weightloss surgery but that i don't need it!!! I was SUPER happy because it just made me feel soooo good!

NSV Thread for the May Bandsters!

Congrats, Kiki!!! My latest NSV: Today, I went to a really big mall about an hour from home and me, my hubbby, son, bf and her kids all walked around for HOURS! Everyone was complaining about being tired and thier feet hurting....but not me. I wasn't tired or in any sort of pain. A few months ago, I wouldnt have been able to do that! Second best thing that happened today- In Macy's I picked up this super cute leather jacket in a Large. It was teeny. I figured I'd try it on to see how much further I had to go before it would fit. Well, guess what!?! It not only fit, but buttoned and looked nice too! If it werent for the $300 plus price tag, I wouldve worn it all the way home! LOL
  3. what a fab NSV... funnily enough, my hubby mentioned this to me the other day... I too didn't realise I was doing it! Ain't it great! =]

    Feb Bandsters July Challenge

Still running around like a mad woman, but it's paying off... I've lost more than I'd thought since my fill! Down by 57.5 total -- 5.5 since the fill 2 weeks ago on July 5th! Now that's what I'm talkin' about!!! NSV for my affirmation: I wear a 26 now, for the most part, which is down from a tight 32 pre-Band. I tried on a pair of my mom's shorts that are a size 20 (from Silhouettes) -- just to beat myself up, really. AND THEY BUTTONED!!! I'd have needed that particular pair in a 22 to really wear, but they totally closed up!!!! Holy crap!!! I know I'm by no means a 22 in most stuff, BUT BUT BUT Mom's size 20 shorts actually zipped & buttoned, too!!! I wore a size 22 over 8 years ago!!! Suzanne Feb'07 July Challenge: Level 3-Moderate 12 of 20 days exercising for 30 minutes

    NSV - Bras

I've lost about 90 pounds since getting lap-band on November 24th of last year.....today I got bras at Victoria's Secret. Yes, I paid way too much for two bras. But this has always been a place I could never shop. I did a happy dance in the dressing room.

How easy/hard is it to change your habits?

To me losing my weight is a war. Changing habits is always going to be a battle. You (or at least me) are motivated at the start - like exercising religiously, adding new challenges to your routine, etc. Then, you go somewhere for a few days and don't exercise at all. Coming home, you start sluffing, exercising only 4 days a week, not changing routine, etc. The battle is lost,,,then a few months later, you begin the battle again. Maybe it works, maybe the battle is lost again. But now you have a tool to help you win some of the food battles. You eat less (major battle). You chew your food and have to concentrate on what you are eating, instead of tv (battle). Winning these battles gives you strength to re-fight the battles you lost. (exercising for me) The band helps you retain the ground you have won in your war. (pounds, inches, nsv). It gives you incentive to win more battles. Is it ever easy to change? probably not but having some wins under the belt makes it easier. Also for me, the payments for the surgery are a call to action - for me to do my part in this process - not just rely on the troops (band). Eventually, I will win this war!! (hmmm this is the first time I have ever thought of it in this light) Celeste

  12. I noticed today that I actually weigh 5 lbs. less than the wild lie that has been listed on my driver's license for the past 25 years! 🤣🤩 I guess it qualifies as a NSV.

    Life is GREAAAT!

So I'm totally pumped, the sun is shining, it's 86 degrees here today and just absolutely beautiful (too bad I'm at work;)). While I was getting ready this morning it almost felt like a special day you know a day that you've been waiting for, anticipating for some time because something good is planned or special is going on, so I was thinking humm what is so special about today? It's not my Birthday, it's not Mother's Day, there's no work parties, it's not the weekend........ IT'S LIFE AND LIFE IS GREAAAT!! I hope it's ok but I want to share some NSV's with everyone that really didn't occur to me until this morning. I got in the car today and for the first time realized how much room there was between me and the steering wheel. Yep before I had this surgery when I was driving the steering wheel would actually rub against my stomach when I turned now there's a good 18-24 inches between my stomach and the steering wheel. I spent hours, and I mean hours doing hard manual yard work on Saturday and Sunday, fully expecting to be completely imobile come Monday, with much to my suprise I woke up and nothing, no pain, no stifness, no feeling like I'd been runover by an 18-wheeler. It felt awesome, my yard doesn't look half bad either:-)!!!! Summer. Yes, I said it summer, swimsuits, pools, lakes, tubing you name it anything to do with Water activities I'm in and I can't wait. Even when I was large I still participated, not gracefully or unembarrased but I still did them. This year I'm so excited because there is NO hestitaton NO feeling self concious; looking around before I do something to make sure no one is watching in case I make a fool out of myself ( I will still make a fool of myself because I'll never be graceful:)) but now I won't give two SH****!!! I've already purchased 2 swimsuits and I'm all ready to gooooo!! I was telling my husband I can't remember the last time I was a normal weight during the summer time. It's such a stress lifted and I feel like now I can finally FULLY enjoy every ounce of summer fun, my favorite time of the year and I just can't wait! Everyday I wake up and I'm just so thankful for the decision I made to have this band! Life has always been good, I've been blessed with many things in my life, a wonderful husband and two beautiful children, first and foremost but now I just have this whole new perception of life. I wake up and everyday is almost like a new adventure. I 'm still finding things out about myself and my surroundings that I never noticed before, so exciting! So yes, this is all for my sunshine and roses speech for today but I would like for everyone who reads this to post something(s) that maybe you just noticed about yourself that has changed or you're looking forward to now that you have a new leash on life:-) I can't wait to hear everyone's!!!!!
  16. I bet that was LOTS of fun! a crash right in front of you...wow! i bet the crowd went nuts! that is awesome that you were able to lose while gone! isn't that amazing! no way we would have done that before the band! I'm working on uploading my pics....it's scary! i still can't believe my size and that i thought for a half a second that maybe i DIDN'T need to do this....i should have done it a LOT sooner! I am down another pound. 47 pounds gone.... so close to 50 but i seem to be slowing down. of course with all the snacking and junk that has been around the house....I only have MYSELF to blame for eating the way i have. today, i am doing liquids. my Protein shakes (carnation essentials with egg whites for added protien). I need to get myself out of this rut. i wasn't even craving junk anymore, but now that i have let myself eat it, i want ONLY that. on to NSV....i had hubby get down the box of clothes that was put in the attic when we moved since i was pregnant at the time and figured i would not fit in them for a while....then the 2nd pregnancy...and now the 'baby' is almost 2 and i have no excuse to still have 'baby' weight. it was labeled 'clothes i won't fit into for a very long time' box. it had a mix of sizes from 8's down to 4's....the 8's ALL FIT!!!!! i was SO excited that i went through my closet and tried on pants.... my 8's fit! i even had a pair of 6's fit! (ok, it's old navy and for me, old navy runs big because when i bought that pair of pants, all the rest of my jeans were 8's)...but OMG did that feel GREAT!! of course, it didn't stop me from shoveling the crap into my mouth! I'm joining a running club with my neighbor this weekend. I hope this boost my motivation, beats my slowdown of weight and makes me stop and think before putting the junk into my mouth!!!! ok, the pics are on my computer...i'm going figure out how to upload them to the site.....shield your eyes...it's NOT a pretty site! ACK!~
  17. Hmmm, I agree its an average which means many lose more, many lose less. I find it interesting that I've gotten to about that level of weight loss - 65% and the weight loss now is very slow, every kilogram is really hard won and takes a lot of work to achieve. But it is ENTIRELY within my control too, its harder because I no longer have that flush of initial enthusiasm and am not working as hard as I was and its also harder because you dont lose weight as easily when you have less to lose. What I am enjoying however is that I can work my butt off to lose 3kg now and I will be rewarded with lots of NSV's - 3 kg makes a big difference on my body now. Whereas I had to lose 15kg initially to go down a clothing size. If I never lost anymore weight Id consider this operation a resounding success though. I'm no longer obese (just overweight), I can shop in any store I please, I run regularly, I swim, I go to the gym, I'm fit and healthy, my ankle issues have largely resolved. The rest of the weight loss for me is purely cosmetic. I've introduced fitness as a daily part of my life, I am no longer staring down the barrell of becomeing soft, doughy and middle aged (my biggest fear I think, getting old and less mobile). My main motivation to lose the rest is purely to look better and to improve my running performance. So 65% aint so bad, but I definitely want to be in the category of those who lose 100% and its entirely within my control to do so. There's an awful lot of people who have surgery and arent compliant - dont have fills, dont change their eating habits sufficiently and many who dont exercise, there's no reason to accept falling into that category if you dont want to.
  18. I keep trying every day- I can cross them sortof (5'9", 257) but it isn't the girly leg cross where the legs are right next to each other - the toe still points out. Looking forward to this NSV!
  19. Best NSV to date: Walking into my son's house about a year after surgery and hearing him say "Holy F, Mom, where's the rest of you?!"

NSV Thread for the May Bandsters!

My NSV is that I was co-captian of a Relay for Life team and signed up in April. I needed a 2x Team Captian t-shirt at that time. I hadn't wore my tshirt again until our Relay event last night. I had to trade my shirt in for a LARGE!!! I wore a LARGE last night. I thought I needed an XL but they didn't have any so I told them I would try a Large but it probably wouldn't fit. Well it DID!! I was so surprised and glad I didn' have to wear the 2xl knee length shirt. Our team came in 8th place(raising $2,281.) out of 30 and last night was a great all around success!! WOOO HOOO!

    40yr olds...

I am 40 and am 5 weeks post-op. No complications so far (besides, like everyone else, trying to pass a stone where you shouldn't). Just had my 1 month post op appt earlier today and doc says I'm doing well, I feel excellent, energetic, and have had tons of NSV's in a really short period of time. To the original poster - my 1 week post op appt was a post surgery class that included about 10 other people that were also 1 week post op- I would say at least 7 or 8 out of those 11 people were 40+. I wouldn't worry too much about the age thing.
  22. I am only about six weeks out now...but I have my 'skinny closet' separate from my regular closet ...yep, I have kept skinny clothes from the past. I periodically go through it & get rid of what I wouldn't wear now...but I've got quite a few clothes in it...my NSV was me having the determination to get a dress out of there this weekend, hang it on the outside so I see it as soon as I wake up....and for the first time in years, I KNOW I will be back in that dress in a year or so ( I hope sooner, but I am realistic!)...yahoo!!!!!!!

NSV Thread for the May Bandsters!

I had another NSV moment today. I was wearing a blouse that I hadn't worn in about 3 weeks. I didn't look at it before going out. When I went to my daughter's home she asked when I was going to get rid of that blouse because it was looking bad because it is so big! Yeah! Good job everyone else.

NSV Thread for the May Bandsters!

I have to NSV today! First I noticed that my pants I had on today is ready to be turned out to pasture! YEAH!! I grabbed 2 inches on each side of them. The second is the sterring wheel in the car no longer rubs my belly. So maybe the car will finally realize that I am not a genie. LOL

    Nsv Day

First of all I confess...I've been nibbling. Not terrible downfalls but enough to keep me on this plateau. So anyway the scale has gone way under the bed and is staying there 'til New Year. I don't intend this holiday to be a disaster but neither am I going to worry about it. Back to my theme...On Tuesday some new clothes I had ordered arrived and I confess when I put them on I was disappointed. The trousers were UK 28 (from a 32) and only semi elasticated but because they fit 'properly', all I saw was my belly- as usual. I had also bought a bustier and it was OK but didnt make me feel as 'sexy' as I'd hoped. THEN>>> Wednesday I went shopping to cheer myself up. Now I'm fitter I love shopping and poor hubby cringes each time I say I'm off out! I got my stepson to drop me off at the bottom of our long hill and NSV 1, I walked up it. I haven't done that ever before. I felt generally tired at the top but not in a state of collapse and if there had been more to do I know I could have continued. Part way up the hill I was looking in a window and I saw someone wanted to pass. The pavement is narrow and so I moved right to one side...nothing! I looked behind me and there was no-one there. The legs I'd seen in the window were mine...legs I'd seen as skinny, normal legs were mine in my jeans. NSV 2. I decided to buy a shawl to cover up my shoulders and arms in the bustier. I went into a shop that sells these things and saw this gorgeous, cute woollen bollero- one size fits all. HA! It's always been one size fits- all except me. I looked at it on the hanger and mentally assessed it...then I bought it. Got it home and it not only fits beautifully, it looks good and now when I wear the top I feel very sexy indeed. NSV 3. Once I can lose some weight off my lower belly/hip area then I know I'm going to be a clothes addict. And so yes, I haven't been as good as I should have been but I'm going to enjoy this holiday without going beserk and then I'm going to make this 100lbs 150 and then 175...role on 2007 and more NSV's. Happy Holidays Everyone xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx <!-- / message --><!-- sig -->
