    Bathroom?

You don't say when you had surgery, but I alternated between diahrea and constipation for a few weeks after surgery. Sorry for the TMI but a few of those episodes (diahrea) was after I ate eggs for the first few times. As the weeks went by, the episodes got more and more spaced out. It is not completely gone (week 8), but it is not troublesome at all anymore.

    Pre Op Diet Day 3

800 calories... Liquid shakes only. My go to cheats can be sugar free Jello or S/F popsicles. I am Sooo stressed because my husband and I both scheduled time off of work... And my heart is set on that date: Nov 12th I need these 8 pds to go!!! Over the last year I have lost 60 pds with diet and exercise... But of course there is always a stall... And this is mine at the worst time Ps: I am drinking a gallon of Water per day... No other beverages like juice or anything. I have scheduled a colonics for tomorrow (TMI) lol but I will do anything to lose this weight. I am nervous- it will be my first colonic treatment.

    Wk#3 Trouble With H2O Intake

Good Day Sleevers and Pre-Sleevers: Well, I survived the two week hurdle and made it back to work today. I had a fun day, but today was really busy caring for cancer patients. Only a few people noticed my weight loss, but I was wearing a lab coat so I guess I look like my usual self. I'm happy no one noticed the changes or in denial...works for me. My face is noticably slimmer and my pants are falling off. I am known for my big boobs and they are shrinking, too. I am looking forward to buying a shirt with buttons instead of pull-overs! I am disappointed that I did not drink the two bottles of water that I brought to work. The day was so busy and I was away from my desk all day. I expect to have a slow day tomorrow and eager to improve. My doctor and nutritionist advised that H2O intake is essential throughout the day, so I have to make a conservative effort to do better. Pee-pee is supposed to be yellowish to nearly clear, and that is my clue for doing a good job. Unfortunately today was not so good sorry if too TMI (too much info)...hahaha. Often I want to drink a whole bottle of water, but I feel like I cannot. I am used to drinking two bottles of water back to back, but now I just cannot. Anyone else having this problem? On another note, as of today I am exactly 200 lbs. My doctor said that I should expect 1-2 lbs weight loss per week. Wow - watch out summer I am making my comeback! I am really excited about the new me to come and you should, too. Breaskfast: Two boiled eggs - whites only Lunch: two + 1/2 pieces of baked chicken without the skin H2O: 1 bottle in AM and 8 oz of tea Dinner: Smoked salmon (YUMMY!!!) Exercise: tennis in the park with a friend
  7. Like so many "sleevers" I'm very grateful for my surgery. After struggling with my Lap-Band for years, I was so happy to have another surgical option to help me keep the weight off and continue living a healthy lifestyle. I'm now 6-weeks post-op and, though I certainly don't regret my surgery, I'm struggling with the changes that my body is going through. Forgive me for being blunt, but I don't know what to do about all of the diarrhea that I've been having! After two days of not having diarrhea, I ended up in the hospital with a partial blockage in my colon. I feel like I can't win either way! I can't put my finger on what's causing the issues with my bowels; I've cut out artificial sweeteners, added fiber, subtracted fiber, and various other combinations -- the only thing that works is returning to clear liquids. Of course, this is not a long-term solution. Honestly, the diarrhea wouldn't be so bad if it wasn't accompanied by major bloating and hideously loud bowel sounds! It sounds like there's a bathtub in my stomach that's trying to empty through a straw. I'm doing everything that my surgeon has instructed: taking my antacids, staying hydrated, being mindful of the types of sugars used in my supplements. It's just so hard to stay hydrated when the fluids that you're putting into your body come out faster than you can consume them! At this point I'm just feeling very discouraged and alienated by these symptoms. When I had my surgery, I was prepared to have to deal with people asking me why I'm not eating much or scrutinizing what I do (or don't eat) what I wasn't prepared for was the constant worry of embarrassing bowel sounds and the risk of having an accident in public! I don't want this post to discourage anyone who is considering having the "sleeve" or any other type of WLS procedure. Frankly, I just needed to vent and get some of these feelings out. If anyone has any recommendations or has had a similar experience, I would be very thankful to hear about it. More importantly, does this get better?

    Barium Swallow Tomorrow..ugh!

I had my barium test a few months back. There were two technicians and they were great. The tast wasn't so bad it was the texture and the amount that I had to drink. One was very "chalky". I know it's TMI but, your BM will be a chalky color for a day or so too lol. They also made me drink upside down. Now that was interesting. The surprising part was they only found mild acid reflux. My chest says differently!!! You'll do great. It's painless.
  9. Oh how sad. I haven't had that problem. But I do know that I sip on the 12 oz can (180 cal, I think) all morning. Or if I use it as a snack at 10 am, it's gone by lunch. I really like the Boost-(8 oz w/ 15 gm. protein) but it's so high in calories (240) that I hesitate to get those unless it's that time of the month and I'm really tight. (I know TMI)

    Day one post op

Thanks for the advice everyone! I can't believe how much better I feel at 2 days post op. Managing clear broth and camomile tea in little sips. Feeling very bubbly though (sorry tmi) my throat is constantly making gurgling noise. Is this the gas still?

I hope you feel better very soon! I was sleeved on the 21st also. It is a challenge to get all my liquids in. Also, TMI, I'm having bathroom issues now. No fun.

    Pbing After Fill

Wow, finally I can feel restriction. I have lost a bunch of weight and have followed the rules (more or less) and have great results but I did not feel any restriction. 2 weeks ago my Dr. did a fill using the Floroscope. He said I had virtually no restriction so he did a fill - I drank more of that great tasting white liquid and he said he had it too tight so he took some out. Fine, the next gulp went down like it should the next time. Well, I have completed a 5K and done tons of yard work since but it seems like at least once a day here comes the PBing. In fact, as I type this I just finished an episdoe that lasted almost 45 minutes. I don't think I am too tight and I do have 60 pounds more to loose (lost 88) but darn, this PB stuff is for the birds. I am work, so I go outside my office and hide behind the bushes with a roll of paper towels and a trash bag..This is no fun. Oh, what had I eaten..2 bites of tossed salad, 1/2 cooked baby carrot, a couple of bites of black eyed peas and 2-3 bites of filet (very tiny bites, well chewed). Fromt the looks of things, it is the salad that caused the problem (sorry TMI). I am not new to the band as I have been banded since 7/7/11 but now I am really seeing what goes on and the PB stuff is no fun. I don't want to call the doctor as he will take more out of the band so I guess it is liquid Protein for a few days till things calm down. Thanks for listening. Melinda in Florida
  13. My problem is this, whenever I poop I heave like I am going to vomit, sometimes I do. I thought it would get better but it isnt. I don't think it is dumping syndrome because I am very careful about what I eat. I am nauseated pretty much all of the time so I don't know if because I am nauseated, it is easy to push me over that edge. I know it hasn't been that long, do I just need to wait longer? Any advice? Background: I had the RNYGP on March 31st. First two weeks I was able to get in all of my liquids and 2 or 3 costco Protein drinks. One day my body just said nope! I couldn't keep them down or get them down. It was time to transition to real food. So my doc said to quit the Protein Drinks. Transitioning has been difficult and is not going well. I eat small amounts, 1/4 cup, and stick to what I'm allowed. I am transitioning very very slowly too. I have trouble getting 10 grams of protein a day. I do exercise, which can help with the nausea. Also digestion hurts, is that normal at first??? I pureed my food and still chewed it to make sure it was chewed enough.

    First Time Vomiting

I admit I vomit a couple times a week. If something just doesnt sit well it comes right back up. It totally depends on what it is on wether it hurts or not. Sometimes tears shoot and I mean shoot out of my eyes becasue it comes back up so hard. Sorry if TMI but dont want you to be afraid if it happens to you. I was petrified in the beginning!

    2 Weeks Post-op

I absolutely loved your blog and how positive you are!! I am newly banded 3 days post op now and some of the comments on here have me concerned. lol Also, I wanted to ask if you best1 or Kath109 have either one tried the UNJURY brand protein??? I have tried several kinds, some so bad I was even gagging( sorry tmi there) But the Unjury brand is so much better. I have been mixing one scoop of their chocolate with a packet of Chocolate Carnation Instant Breakfast, That gives you 33 grams of protein, but it does also have 340 calories. But honestly it taste like extra chocolate milk!! This is how I have gotten my protein and survived the liquid preop and I am doing 4oz of this at a time for my post op too. Its also awesome mixed with a low fat sugar free pudding! Hope this helps with your protein and Good Luck to you on your weight loss journey!

Am I Going To Die? and Salad for the price of a cookie.

I had my 3rd post surgical appointment yesterday, one week shy of 4 months banded. I was glad to finally be seeing the doctor because I've had some digestive issues since my last fill -- vomiting, sliming, discomfort...you name it. And then, about a week ago, I felt a lump in my abdomen, just inside my hip bone. It was tender to the touch and seemed to move when I changed position. I thought maybe it was a hernia I'd never noticed because of all the fat on my gut before but definitely wanted to have it checked out. So, I'm sitting in the exam room waiting for the doctor and reading the informative poster about the digestive system which, as we know, ends in the colon and rectum. How delightful to read the symptoms of colo-rectal cancer while I've got a lump I'm worried about. Here's my thought process: "Let's see, hmmm, change in bowel habits - check, pain or tenderness in the abdomen - check, other TMI symptoms - check, check, check.... OMG, I HAVE COLON CANCER! Great! Isn't this just ironic that here I am, finally losing weight so I can live a healthier life and now I'm going to die from colon cancer anyway. I shouldn't have smoked. I shouldn't have drunk too much. I shouldn't have had a high fat diet. I shouldn't have.....oh, here comes the doctor." So, when the doctor asks me how I am, I blurt out, "I have a lump in my abdomen and at first I thought it might be a hernia but after reading THAT, I'm a little worried it's colon cancer." He sort of laughs and says, "If you had colon cancer and could feel a lump through your stomach, you'd be f'n dead already." Well, I do like him for being blunt. So, he feels around and says it's a hematoma and asks if I had an injection recently. I did not and, I can't think of any incident where I got poked or fell on something..... So, chalk it up to all the swimming I did in Mexico - probably a small tear in my muscle. Phew. Thank goodness these hypochondria moments don't last too long. So, now that I know I'm not going to die (from this particular ailment), I mention that I might need a slight unfill because I'm concerned I'm not getting enough food since the last fill on 1/27. I've been trying to do about 1/2 cup of food but find I get very full just at a little over 1/4 cup down and begin to feel uncomfortable, get slimy and..as I mentioned above, vomit. The doctor says I don't need an unfill and that 2 ounces of solid food at a sitting is just about right. So, no fill, no unfill. But, you know, I really miss eating even though I take longer to do it now and can eat almost anything - just not much of it. I miss everything about cleaning my plate, the feel of the food in my mouth, having more than one course.....dessert! Today I went to the cafeteria to get some lunch. I got a small soup (less than half filled) and put 1 hard boiled egg, one slice of cucumber and a few carrot shreds in the smallest salad container they had. When I took it to the cashier, it wouldn't weigh -- it was too light for the scale so she charged me for a cookie (!!!) -- all of $.50. I got a packet of mayo and made myself a little egg salad and had some on a saltine. It tasted good. I could have licked the container but I was too full. I couldn't even eat the 2nd saltine. I signed up for this knowing the band was a tool and that I had to do the heavy lifting. It's working, I'm working. I'm vomiting, it's working. I'm sliming, it's working. I've lost 58 lbs, it's working. It's working, it's working.

Desperate for an answer: please read

ta- sorry you are having such a hard time. I agree you need to find a physician who is committed to finding out what is wrong with you. You should not be having fevers for no reason. As for MVP, it is very possible that you may have it and it can cause weakness, though it is usually without symptoms. It seems as if your cardiolgist's nurse may be uninformed. If I can recall my latest statistics, almost 30% of women have MVP and it can be definitively diagnosed with an echocardiogram. A physical exam may or may not reveal a heart murmur. It is also possible to have a benign murmur (a murmur with no structural defects of the heart). Sorry, was this tmi? My advice to you is find a physician and get him/her involved and advocate for yourself upfront. There is nothing wrong with saying- I wan't answers, however long it takes. Your symptoms are somewhat vague-meaning they could be from any number of possible diagnoses- so it may take a while. Good luck on your journey.

    Day 2 so much pain

sariel - you and i are bandster twins... i also got my band on 12/7 and am just finally starting to feel a little better. last night (first night home) i was in excruciating pain - my entire torso was throbbing... i guess it was the gas. i walked around the house as much as possible, took 1 chewable gas-x (though who knows if that did anything because the gas was not in my intestines), rocked in a rocking chair, used a heating pad on my back and then did considerable amounts of whining. I passed some gas last night (TMI - sorry) and feel a little better today. everyone (including the doctors) say keep moving - i know that's so hard when you just want to curl up and cry... but i do think that helped. see you around the boards!
  19. Has anyone experienced nausea after they take their Multivitamins? The past two times I've tried to take mine I've gotten sick and had to throw up. Sorry if TMI. Thanks for the input! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Ahhh I know the exit, when I lived down near Fort Dix seaside was the go to place ...especially for hitting that White Castle on Rt37 on the way back home ( seaside was the excuse )hahaha I know that hospital well! My gyn is there... I drive almost 2 hours just to see him (sorry if TMI) I am actually self pay since my insurance excludes it from my plan so I am going to Mexico in Nov to have it done. I am calling it my surg-a-cation since I am flying out a day early to have some sister bonding time (she is flying out with me) and to knock seeing the sunset for real off of my bucket list. You know how it is here in jersey we see the beautiful sunrise and I have always wanted to see the sunset on the beach of the west coast When is your date?
  21. First cycle since surgery. Why are my period cramps soooooo bad... ? like the worst I’ve ever had...

    Stomach upset?

I like the taste of this one a lot and also it's 30g of Protein and only 1 carb and 1 sugar. So I like everything about it andI'm sorry for the major tmi, but its causing diarrhea. A friend suggested maybe my body is just cleansing itself. Im not sure. I guess ill stick with it and see if it improves in a couple days or ill switch.

    What DON'T they tell you?

I just want to agree with kgloverii, the constipation i was not expecting! Constantly I am struggling with this. I eat plenty of fresh veggies, but apparently not enough Water. DRINK YOUR WATER! I already knew how important water is, before i was banded any day that i did not have enough water my fingers would swell, i could tell right away. But now, it is hard for me to get enough water to keep myself regular. (probably TMI, sorry)
  24. I am down about 33 lbs. My diet changed today to include regular foods as tolerated. My soft diet included chicken and tuna so I pushed that to turkey and well ground beef and even pork. So far I hadn't consumed anything that I wasn't already eating. I think my cravings for sodas has increased, however I am better tolerating being around normal folks while they are eating. I really wish I could go to the restroom (probably drop some weight if I weren't so stopped up). TMI? Hesitant to take something that isn't gentle. I don't know exactly how much protein and oz I am getting. I just eat low/no carb and highest protein I can. Doc probably wouldn't like that but I hate all shakes. I have yet to try unjury, but my package of it came today so we'll see.

    Good Morning 203!

I hate to think what the cleaning people in my office think when emptying my garbage.... at times I find I have to PB (is that it) in my garbage can... as gross as this sounds, and I know it's TMI, I just have to get that "slime" up out of my throat.... very little food comes up, just a bunch of nasty slime... I'm sure this is the lubricant trying to get the food all the way down to my stomache. So this morning I ate a boiled egg and a few slices of bacon in the car on my 45 minute drive to work... I was fine... then I got to my desk and started to feel it and had to PB.... or is it PM... whatever, I had to do it.... So I'm down to 203! closer and Closer to breaking 200! Oh Praise the LORD! Gotta work now so latas  Desi:rolleyes2:
