Friday evening, I visited a friend with a broken ankle. We're sitting there chatting and watching tv. I looked down at my lap and realized that I had my legs crossed and my hands weren't holding my legs or pants to keep my legs crossed. Nice feeling!

First day back to work and an NSV!!!!
bashful1269 commented on bashful1269's blog entry in Blog 65988
Today was my first day back after having surgery on 7/22/09. I am a wage continued employee which means that I continue to receive my full salary whether or not I'm there, so I took ten days to recoup. Since that's what my doctor told me would be a good amount of time considering the type of work that I do. I'm glad I listened I'm BEAT!! I had every intention of going to the gym today after work, but there is just no way. I'll go for my two mile walk after it cools down a bit. Work was good now time for the NSV!! Hot Greg NOTICED I had lost weight and told me that I was looking good!!! Yea!!!!! Me!!! :sneaky::thumbup::thumbup::thumbup::tt1::thumbup: and I was able to completely slip my size 16 work pants down over my hips without undoing the buttons or zipper...time to go SHOPPING!!! I have a feeling it's going to be my new addiction...shopping! That's all the energy I have for the moment. I'm going to take a much needed nap! -
For starters I had lunch out of town on my way to a dr's appt in Nashville today so my mom and I stopped at a Cracker Barrel. I ordered child's grilled chicken tenders and green Beans, you get 3 chicken tenders they are about the length size of your finger and I give some of my beans to my mom. Now, usually I can eat all of it but today I had to stop at 1 chicken finger and 2 bites of beans, don't know if I was stuck or full, the food just felt like it was right at the top of my throat. I didn't PB, didn't slime, didn't salivate as usual. Then for the last 2 nights I've experienced heartburn and had to take TUMS and I take Omeprazole every morning to prevent this, what's up? My NSV, I can finally cross my legs, woohoo, haven't been able to do that in 20 yrs, feels good.

Happy 4 wks everyone. How's everything going? Officially hit the 30lb mark and having many more NSV which to me has been even better lol. I was never much of a numbers girl (until that number was too big) so those sometimes motivate me more than the scale does. Anyone taking weekly pics? That has helped as well. Hope everyone is doing well! -
ISleevedIt Ahhhhhh its the "little" things congrats on your "big" achievement keep those NSV's coming - "we" love to hear them great weight loss keep up the good work congrats

Wow, that is amazing. Congrats on such a wonderful and meaningful NSV. -
I've seen you guys post about NSV's and it took me a bit to figure out what this was, but I had my first one today. A little bitter sweet, but that's okay... I'm 14 days post op and had to go to the Dr. today. I have bronchitis and feel pretty rough, but while I was sitting in the Dr.'s office, very miserable and could not get comfortable, I crossed my legs without even thinking about it. This is the first time I have been able to do this in about 15 years. Woot, woot! Now, if I can just start feeling better and get back to walking.

I go back to work tomorrow after 2 weeks off. I had my post-op today. I'm down 18 lbs from the day of surgery. I'm feeling great and getting my 60+ g of protein in and tons of water. I do 2oz of soft foods every 2 hours. Today my BP was 114/70 and I haven't been on BP meds since 2 days before surgery. I sort of feel like that's a huge NSV already!

Big NSV and I don't really have anyone to tell it to!

Congratulations. We love a NSV here. So share all you want. NSVs always made me want to do a celebratory dance. So fabulous. -
I am two weeks post opt. I have lost 20.5 pounds including pre-opt diet (10). That has dropped me one size in pants. This is great b/c most of my clothes are at this size, especially summer stuff. I had very little stuff that fit at 20 lbs heavier so I was wearing workout clothes almost all the time when I was not at work. I pulled a pile of clothes off the top shelf in the closet to see if any fit again and every single piece fit! So I immediately got a bag and threw away the very few things I had in the larger size. I have always saved clothes thinking I may gain again but this time I wont do it. I am going down and not up again! Also, someone at work told me "what ever you are doing, keep it up, you are looking good". It is nice to get this recognition only 20 lbs down. I am very excited. I cannot wait for me! I needed this boost to keep me on track now that Iam in bandster hell waiting for first fill. That is all, best wishes to all my banded buddies. Oh, my friend that had surgery the same day as me, she has already been taken off her High Blood Pressure medicine completely! It is amazing what losing weight can do for our bodies.

ok--so I went to the bank this morning--(I live in a small town where everyone knows I had VSG) and the girls working in there start telling me that my clothes are way too baggy and that they look bad. Now, this is a little bit NSV and a little concerning. Concerning because I don't feel like I am ready for tighter clothes yet. I have spent the last 20 years making sure that my clothes covered everything and were never tight on me--the less skin they actually touched the better. Elastic waist and VERY long shirts have been normal for me. A friend called me the other day and told me she had a bunch of clothes for me so I went and got them and they all fit--but they are tight--not tight like they are too small--but tight like in style--I just can't see myself wearing them right now I have went from a tight size 24 to a nice fitting 14/16 in two months so I am happy about that--I am just a little worried about when will my head catch up with my body? I keep thinking that no one will even be able to notice that I have lost weight and am surprised when someone says something about it. Just wondering how long till your mind knows you are thinner???

Lots of nsv this weekend. Yesterday my husband and I ran/walked our first ever 5k. I finished at just over 50 minutes. My goal was under a hour and to not come in last. Succeeded on both. This had energy to go help clean out another room at my late father in laws house (we are doing a room at a time)., finish easter shopping including a last minute menu change and late night fighting at the grocery store. Then this morning had no problem standing outside with kids while they hunted easter eggs. And for the first in years I sat down and painted my own toe nails. I can't remember the last time I was able to reach them and not have to hold my breath to do it.

Thanks everyone! I am now on day 3 post op and feeling a LOT better than yesterday. I already have a NSV: I slept on the couch instead of the recliner! Tonight I will try sleeping in our bed. I did take pain meds since coming home but for me it is to curb the gas pains and help me sleep. -
3 months post op and I found my collar bones!

Welp, I did better than last week and lost -3.1 lbs this week. I'm definitely starting to see patterns in my body, and how it reacts to things throughout the week. On Wednesday I weighed in at 185.6, today (only 2 days later) I'm weighing in at 187 lbs. I'll take a loss, no problem, but it intrigues me how my body bounces up and down a pound or two during the week. One of my healthier habits I've acquired since surgery, is weighing myself only once first thing in the morning when I wake up, and not doing so again until the next day. I use to be obsessive compulsive about weighing myself multiple times a day, praying I would see some kind of loss, if even a few ounces. By only weighing myself once a day, I feel like I'm seeing much better results and not dwelling on it as much. Things I also know that have been working for me are laxatives. On Monday I tried miralax dissolvable (pre-measured packets- love it) in my coffee and it worked wonders. On Wednesday, I tried a good old laxative pill and it worked wonders as well. So now I know that if my body needs a little push to dump the toxins out of my body I have options. I'm very wary of taking any laxative every day because your body becomes dependent on them, and I do NOT want that to happen. I've been fairly regular up until last week, so trying different things this week brought a lot of relief to my system, and my numbers dropped as well. I will say that my biggest NSV to date happened today. I have about 20 pairs of jeans ranging from size 16 to size 8. About 3 weeks ago I was able to squeeze into my size 12's that have been getting looser and looser. Today being Friday and jean day at work, I decided to reach for my prized (slightly expensive, but fabulously fitting) size 10 jeans just to take an assessment of how they fit and how much farther I have to go. I put them on, and to my shock and amazement- they fit. Perfectly. No muffin top either. I went and looked in almost every mirror of my house just to make sure I wasn't hanging out or fooling myself. Nope- they fit! I felt overwhelmed with emotion this morning, over a pair of jeans. It's been YEARS since I've worn them, and even then I remember the last month or so I was able to wear them, I was wearing spanx and girdles trying not to bulge out thanks to the evil muffin top! After I got in my car, got my son to school, and just started thinking- I went into a Zen like state. I just felt like everything was going to be okay. I don't know what my all-time ultimate goal weight will be, or when my body will stop losing weight, but right now, the feeling of having my beloved size 10's fit me, is enough to praise God and count my blessings. I love my sleeve! Just When You Thought Everything Was Cool...
moofish posted a topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I'm almost a year and a half out from surgery and I've almost reached goal weight- have completely changed my lifestyle, and I'm pretty proud of my progress. I went from a size 22 pair of jeans to a size 8 (I'm 5'9"). I walk close to 4 mi./day. People that I knew from before will walk right past me in the grocery store without recognizing me. Talk about a NSV... Then, a couple of weeks ago, I fell and broke my jaw! Ugh! It was competely wired shut for 2 weeks. Hello liquid diet again! Fortunately I had previous experience with that, so I knew to make home made chicken and beef stock, Protein drinks, and I ordered powdered supplements from Celebrate. I knew that RNY peeps are not really supposed to use straws, but, what choice did I have? I lost an 10 additional pounds, which I didn't really need to lose... Now, they have replaced some of the wires with rubber bands, so I can barely bit a baby spoon between my jaws. So, on to the puree stage! Can anyone say deja vu? Again, I knew just what to make/buy for this stage of my recovery. Next week, I move on to mushies. Needless to say, I can't wait until the final stage of this, but it will be a while before I eat anything crispy or chewy again. Then I will buy a 3 oz. portion of filet mignon, season it, sear it in a pan, and rip it apart with my fingers and teeth (I adore meat lol). So, I had a little set back but, ironically enough, my RNY experience has helped me to successfully and HEALTHFULLY navigate this episode. -
April sleevers; what's your current weight loss?
kwcrnp replied to sjuarez's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That's awesome @@Hoppy5 and @@momfromjersey22 !!! I have my first fill next week. I'm loosing much slower then both of you but 2-3 lbs a week so still in the expected zone. I was able to wear size 16 capri's this week and fit a bunch of my old size 16 dresses! It's those NSV's that motivate me more then the scale! Great job ladies!!! -
Congratulations on doing so well. And Congrats on your 1st NSV!! :-P food losing it's domination over my thoughts was the best part of VSG WLS. Thoughts about what/when I was going to eat ceased the day after surgery. Up until then, I was always planning my next meal because I KNEW I was going to be hungry in 2 hours, no matter how much I had just eaten. So, I feel uneasy when I read questions about "When can I eat _____ again?" or "I am worried I can't eat ______ ever again." When I read things like this, I am worried the person who posted isn't ready for WLS because it does take a commitment on their part to change their eating habits. And they may still be too attached to certain foods. I was soooooooo ready to be DONE! with the control food had over my life. It looks like you are too! I am so happy for you for taking control of your life. 3-C plan for success! Control what you can (your actions and thoughts). Cope with what you can’t (external emergencies and other’s behavior). Concentrate on what counts. Stay positive. Believe in yourself. Focus on your progress, not perfection.
