    Nsv

Had a laugh lastnight. My 5 year old grandson was looking at portraits of our family before my kids were married. He recognized Papa, Uncle, and Mommy, but wanted to know who that woman was sitting next to Papa! I had blond hair, wore glasses and was about 70 lbs heavier then! He was not as amused as the rest of us were! I guess I have truly changed my looks as he did not know me. Woohoo for me! Karen

    Non Scale Victories!

Love it! I have a huge "skinny cloths" section. I am currently in a size 22 now and my section goes down to 14 with a few 12's. I have not had a major scale victory so I can appreciate the NSV more! I am noticing a big difference in the way my cloths fit! My second chin is becoming a smaller chin indeed! You can see weight loss in my face -n- cheeks! So far I think I am loosing inches all over! Yay for inches lost - get out'a here! I was not expecting a miracle, but if you told me I was going to loose a couple lbs on the liquid diet, I would have been in disbelief. I really thought something different in my head.

    Non Scale Victories!

KMCD: No victory is small! I underestimated how uplifting a NSV could be, but I had 2 this past week: One morning, I decided to wear a particular blouse to work, despite the fact that the last time I wore it, it was so tight in my belly that I was miserable all day...and alas! It was LOOSE and very comfortable. A couple of days later, I suddenly realized that my bra was more comfortable. Didn't feel as tight in the back, and the shoulder straps were really loose! Now I can't wait to have to buy new bras and panties!

Congratulations on NSV! and welcome back also!
  9. That's an NSV if I've ever seen it!
  10. During the time I was in "active weight loss", the first 12 to 18 months or so, the frequent congratulations and " you look so good" comments were awesome. They were one of the things that kept me diligent and working to follow all the rules and stay on track. I don't mean to say that I was an attention hound, but the immediate feed back was a motivator and felt great. In addition there were NSV victories coming left and right, the ability to climb stairs, fit in stadium seats, set in booths, etc were more instant gratification and motivation Now most of the people I encounter don't know anything about me "before" or have already shared in my transformation. I have recently started a new career and those people all know me as the "after" version. When I talk about running or biking as a hobby, to them I'm just a normal guy. It is bitter sweet. On the one hand, they don't look at me with disbelief, they see a guy that is fully capable of running for sport and completing long distance bicycle rides. On the other that "Wow, you have come so far" sparkle in the eyes of long term friends is nowhere to be found if I were to be telling them of my new hobbies. There still is the rare occasion when I encounter someone I have not seen since pre-surgery, and those times I get to re-live the initial joy I had from the congratulations and way-to-go's but its very seldom. I can't say I'm surprised about the diminishing attention, it's the natural course of events. At some point in time we all fall away from being the latest, greatest show in town and become who we will be from here on out. I do have to admit I miss those days of new experiences and excitement. Am I alone in this period of having to adjust to the new normal? Should I be concerned that I'm going to morph into a Daffodil?
  11. This is a wonderful NSV!! Congrats to you!!!

    2 month surgiversary

I have made a few mistakes on this journey and gained weight but I have learned a lot about my habits. Some carbs do not agree with me at all. Last night I tried some tuna hubby brought in and had an adverse allergic reaction. Thank God I had liquid benadryl on hand. I turned the bottle up! :-) My friend is getting sleeved sometime next month and we have already taken advantage of the sale SW Airlines is having and got tickets for a girl's weekend in January. NSV - people at my job noticed last week that I have been losing weight. LOL Its funny because I didn't lose a pound last week as I pack on fluid for TOM. I realize I am a slow loser. I killed my metabolism with all the diets and starvation attempts to lose weight in the past. I almost tried every med or herbal remedy available. So today, I am 206.8. I am hoping to get to onederland by the end of the month. My Thanksgiving goal will be another 10 lbs. I have leg surgery on the 30th (to remove the titanium rod) and will be laid up for 3 weeks. I will check back in one month from now. Thanks everyone for your support and just listening to me talk/vent at times!!!

NSV Thread for the May Bandsters!

K, I am gonna turn up the heat for a sec.... My newest NSV: Last night during the middle of sex w/ DH, he picked me up to switch positions. Just in case you missed that-HE PICKED ME UP! Of couse it freaked me out and I screamed put me down because I still suffer from fat girl syndrom. I am trying to let go of my issues but I still see myself as that chick who still carries the 102 lbs I have lost so far. I am working to get over it and, *ahem*, maybe a few more lbs and I will request to be picked up

    NSV bra victory!

hahaha! I am just weening my 18 month year old from breast feeding anyhow my mom decided it was time for me to throw away the nursing bras and get me some with a bit more support! He He He...anyhow I went into the Bra shop and was looking around at size 22 (18usd) around the torsoe with a DD cup...hmmm the sales person asked if I had been fitted recently...to which I explained ahhh No! so the bustled me off to the dressing room and started fitting me...OK so my cup size was G australian sizing (lots for an eventual new man to play with) but the size around the torsoe was actually a size 18 ( equiv...14USD) I was stoked...Yay! becky

NSV Thread for the May Bandsters!

I haven't figured out if this is a good NSV or not. Since I have lost the weight I am no longer hot all the time. I haven't owned a jacket or coat in over 10 years. Well, now I am cold all the time. It is wonderful not being hot all the time but now that I am cold my knees hurt. Since it has been so cold here in Reno, NV I should expect it. It will sure be nice during the summer. I do not tolerate hot weather at all.

NSV Thread for the May Bandsters!

NSV TIME!! Holy crap. I went into Walmart to get some new jeans (IMHO, better than any expensive jeans I have purchased). I started at a 26 and have been wearing some 24s as well. Walking around Chicago this weekend, it was apparent that I had to break down and buy some clothes. I bought a few things last week, but not jeans. Mostly comfy stuff, workout clothes, summery casual stuff. Anyway, for sh-ts and giggles, I picked up a pair of 20s along with the 22s. THEY FIT!!!! I am beside myself... the teens are on their way, baby!!

Okay, my first NSV. I went to Disneyland with my grandson Sunday morning, 1st the pants I wore was 2 sizes smaller with out beinging tight. Thought that was awesome, Got to Disneyland, got on our first ride, Space Mountain and the lap bar went down farther than it ever has. It was really a lap bar for the first time.

NSV Thread for the May Bandsters!

My most recent NSV is my last doctor appointment. I had to visit a new ob/gyn and of course I had to tell her I had the band. She told me my weight and blood pressure are "PERFECT" and when she was doing the breast exam she checked out my scars and was like ok so it was laproscopic and if you hadn't told me that you had lapband surgery I would have thought it was gall bladder surgery because the scars match and your skin is great, no excess, no stretch marks. She went on to tell me her father is a Plastic Surgeon and that he frequently does surgery after weightloss surgery but that i don't need it!!! I was SUPER happy because it just made me feel soooo good!

NSV Thread for the May Bandsters!

Congrats, Kiki!!! My latest NSV: Today, I went to a really big mall about an hour from home and me, my hubbby, son, bf and her kids all walked around for HOURS! Everyone was complaining about being tired and thier feet hurting....but not me. I wasn't tired or in any sort of pain. A few months ago, I wouldnt have been able to do that! Second best thing that happened today- In Macy's I picked up this super cute leather jacket in a Large. It was teeny. I figured I'd try it on to see how much further I had to go before it would fit. Well, guess what!?! It not only fit, but buttoned and looked nice too! If it werent for the $300 plus price tag, I wouldve worn it all the way home! LOL
  25. what a fab NSV... funnily enough, my hubby mentioned this to me the other day... I too didn't realise I was doing it! Ain't it great! =]
