manderdjs replied to 2013isit's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hair loss has hit here too. Comes out like I am shedding excessively. No bald spots (yet) I am bummed that I am in a 3 week stall. I dropped 3 lbs two days ago and got excited but those 3 lbs came back this morning. I am trying all the change ups to trick my body but no luck yet. I am 1/2 way to goal so I am still a very happy sleeve buddy!! Sleeved jan 10th with 100 lbs to loose. -

Sleeved May 9...depressed, regretting having they surgery!
jh5497 replied to princesx01's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You just had surgery 2 weeks ago and went through with a decision to alter your life. If you didn't have moments of regret, sadness or panic you wouldn't be normal! Do not base your future on how you feel right now. You put your stomach and body through a painful, unnatural thing, and readjustment takes a while. Right now, you don't feel good, but in 6 months or a year, it will be different. If you don't believe me just read a few posts on the Veterans board. They were all here once too and now look at them!! Also, as our bodies burn that fat, it releases hormones that take us on an emotional roller coaster. I cried because 13 years ago when my sister got married , I was 15 and I couldn't go to her bachelorette party. Ohhhhh hormonal emotional roller coaster! On top of that, if you were an emotional eater, you just lost your best coping skill. You can't eat to deal with feelings effectively anymore. You changed your life -- there is a certain greiving process that goes with that -- it's not easy. Going back and forth between "awesome" and "oh crap" is part of that greif. Next, I want you to be prepared for the stalls that are going to come because they will come and if you are already down, the kick of a stall will hurt that much more. A stall is your body playing catch up and will pass - no one stays stuck in their 3 week stall!! -

I have a mirena and it has not effected my weight loss at all..... I don't believe the mirena will affect you, it's just the normal losing cycle we've all gone through..... You will have the 3 week stall and during that time, you will be losing inches.... CONGRATS! Sit back and enjoy your ride now.

Where are we getting this from... I just found out I have to do using crystal light... it may be the reason im holding at almost a 3 week stall and I'm not even a month out
-
Around the time I was 3 weeks post-op, I began a stall. It has lasted for 17 days now. When do these things usually end??? I asked my surgeon's office and they told me to do a couple of days of liquids to try to get things moving along again, so I guess that is what I'm going to be doing. Not happy about it, but if it gets me on the right track again, then that's great. What has your experience been?
-
I'm right there with you. I didn't experience the typical 3 week stall and felt pretty lucky. But now at 3 months out, my scale hasn't moved in almost 3 weeks. I'm trying to be patient...but it is frustrating.

Sleeved on 4/22 down 30lbs. Seem to have hit the dreaded 3 week stall. Having a hard time getting in my protein and eating too fast. I get the hiccups a lot, because of it, so trying to slow down! -
eating over 1000 calories today, freaking out, talk me down please!
kellimcc replied to Globetrotter's topic in Fitness & Exercise
you have to eat to lose weight! If you undereat, your body will hold onto the fat, you are starving it, and it wont let it go! I upped my calories after a 3 week stall, and dropped 3 LBS that week! I'm averaging between 1,100 and 1,300 every day and am losing 1.2-3 lbs per week. Eat your protein, drink your water, exercize at least 3-4 times per week, you will lose! It's all math. -
finding the right amount of calories to lose 1-2 LBS a week
Vanessa30 replied to kellimcc's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I was the same weight as you were before and at surgery time. I was losing quite a bit every week up until I hit the 230's. Just like you, I had about a 3 week stall and it seemed like forever before I was able to get below 228. Once the stall was over, I started losing 2-5 pounds a week, again. I'm at 215 now. Just because your body stalls a while does not mean you're doing anything "wrong". The human body needs time to adjust to so much weight loss in such a short amount of time. People don't realize that just because you're doing something "healthier" now, doesn't mean that your body is "healthy" in the middle of it. Your body is in shock and needs time to adjust. That's a lot of the reason why we "stall" in weight loss. 1,100 calories a day is perfect, especially with exercise! I've been heavily educated on this and I am confident to tell you that if you eat less than 1,100 calories a day, you aren't going to lose the weight as fast as you want and also, anything less can get you malnutrition REAL QUICK. Sounds to me like you are right on track with no reason to complain. Yes, stalling in weight loss is frustrating. We all know that but it didn't take you a few months to gain that much weight and it needs to come back off at a reasonable speed to keep you healthy. If you want to try and speed things along a little bit, try a harder work out or simply change it up a bit. Another idea is to cut out a few carbs and sugar from your diet than usual. Good Luck to you. I had my surgery on January 14th and my goal was to be under 200 by June 1st. I'm almost there. It's gonna be close but I can tell you that I'm VERY confident that you can meet YOUR goal. -
Still in the 3 week stall and my scales aren't trustworthy. Time to invest in better scales!
-
Surgery was 4/23/13. I've hit the 2-3 week stall also. I have lost 13 pounds, but the scale isn't budging. I eat just under under 600 calories daily, 60-80 grams of protein and about 45-50oz of fluid. Fluid intake has been the hardest for me since the start. I'm walking a 1/2 mile each day. We just have to trust it will come off if we follow the plan.

Dreaded 3-week stall?
smithle85 replied to BriDawn's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I was sleeved on 4-9 and also hit that 3 week stall, it will pass! I didn't think at the time that I would survive it but I did . 5 weeks tomorrow I am down 33.5 lbs. -
I was sleeved 4/22 and lost 15 lbs in the first two weeks, which I was thrilled with. Now I've been stuck at the same weight for the last week straight. I walk daily, drink ~7 cups of liquid a day, get 60-75 g of protein, and am sitting around 1000 calories usually. I know this is normal and my body is playing catch up and everything. Just wondering everyone else's experiences with this. Anyway for me to help that scale move? Or about when did it start moving for you again?

I knoew it was coming! But it's still messing with my head!
girlrfriday posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Ok so I'm almost three weeks post-op...and the dreaded 3 week stall has come early... I knew it would, it happens to everyone... but my brain is programmed by 15 years of diets that if the scale is not moving, then I have done something wrong! How do we work on changing that mind set and seeing things from a new perspective? -
3weeks post-op and I've had (so far) a three day stall already--Is this normal?
SpaceDust replied to Suko67's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Suko, first off, congratulations! It sounds like you're doing great! Now, for your concerns: stalls are perfectly normal, and they don't mean that you have failed in any way. You've probably hit the infamous 3-week stall that happens to a lot of people. If you track your measurements, you may find that they are still going down even though your weight isn't changing. If you aren't tracking your measurements (and you really should - other stalls will probably happen!) you may notice your clothes are getting looser or fitting differently. Your body is basically catching up right now. Be patient, stick with your diet and the exercise you're doing, and keep drinking. The stall will break, and all of a sudden your weight will start moving again. Good luck! -
I have answered questions about that dreaded 2-3 week stall for new post ops but now I am 9 months out and have not moved an ounce in 4 weeks. I know this is a stall and I know I have not lost all my weight, and I know that I am not eating enough to maintain this weight but of course my head wants to know HOW LONG??? For those of you past this point who have dealt with stalls like this, how long did yours last? These head games are the roughest part!!!

With so many more pounds needing to be shed this is a bit discouraging! I was sleeved on Apr 23rd and in the first week lost about 18lbs. I felt tired but also like this is exactly what I needed to do. Then, I hit a brick wall. I went back to work on Wed last week and haven't lost a pound since my Thurs weigh in. I know I probably shouldn't weigh myself every day but the changes on the scale really make the day easier as I adjust and recover. So the last 4 weigh ins have been very depressing. I have heard of the dreaded 3 week stall but why so soon for me? Anyone else already gone through this? I am just hoping this doesn't mean that I am going to be slower to loose and easier to gain even post-op.
