Is eating fruit okay?
*Lexie* replied to pinkbunies's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My doctor approved fruit but just warned against any with seeds like strawberries which might irritate. Most mornings I have either a scrambled egg (or eggbeaters) with a scoop of sausage cooked into it and a small amount of cheddar cheese on top. It's a good Protein rich Breakfast. If I'm in a hurry, I have a hot chocolate with a scoop of GENEPRO Protein powder. I eat beef Jerky as a snack. I don't need to drink as many Protein shakes if I have some beef jerky. And it's delicious. -
Does anyone actually like their protein drink?
wannaBthinsoon replied to AvaFern's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
GENEPRO unflavored. Tasteless and you can put it in anything, and has like 30gms of Protein per tablespoon, not per HUGE scoop. I put it in about everything. Can't taste it. Of course, if it was in just plain Water , I bet you could taste it. But I don't think I would ever consider doing that. You can find it at amazon.com -
Protein Soups- Excellent for Liquid stage

GENEPRO...totally tasteless!! Really and truly!! If I could, I'd buy stock in it, I have told so many people about it. Buy it off Amazon.com. -
Get your Water in. It's very important that your do so. Water helps with your digestion. You are also at risk of dehydration since you are having diarrhea. You really need to meet your Protein goals. A lean cuisine is too processed not to mention full of sodium to adequately meet your nutrition needs. Another alternative is to buy unflavored Liquid Protein like GENEPRO or prosource and add that to Soup or tea. If you don't like the protein shakes looks for protein alternatives such as greek yogurt, hummus, ricotta cheese and Beans. Even buying a rotisserie chicken and eating that for lunch with some veg is likely better than that lean cuisine. ETA: Not getting enough protein is one of the main causes of hair loss.

Thanks ! Have you tried Genepro protein powder? -
@@simplyblessed I use GENEPRO. I get it on amazon.com. It has 30grams of Protein. I use it everyday in my decaf hot tea. I drink either 24-32oz of decaf tea every morning. That way I get in my liquids and my protein. I then drink one RTD premiere Protein shake for lunch and then a small protein filled meal for dinner. I am 7weeks post op and I feel great!! I have been losing steadily!! Good Luck with your journey!!!

No Flavor Protein Powder
orionova replied to MommyRedmond's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It's pretty simple. You cannot get 30 grams of something in only 15 grams. Genepro claim that the 10 grams you get is equivilent to thirty grams of protein because of the way it's absorbed. And it says that it is absorbed in the area of the intestines that gets cut out in RNY. I don't know about other surgeries because I don't have any experience with those. So even if the thirty grams of protein is true, you still can't absorb it properly if it does get absorbed in the upper part of the intestines like they say. By all means, use it if you want. But don't count it as thirty grams of protein. -

I LOVE Genepro! It's the only Protein I've tried that is really flavorless. It's the only one I've used for the last two months and the same with my friend who just had her blood work done and all came back great! I will be having blood work the end of December myself and will be glad to post the results. It has no whey taste and you can mix it with hot liquids. It was also approved by my NUT and surgeon. You can also buy it from the website Musclegen Research. Best of luck, Carol -

Orionova, do you have a reference for your claim? Genepro was recommended to me by my NUT, and it is highly absorbable because it is a peptide. If there is something out there to the contrary, I would like to read up on it. -

No Flavor Protein Powder
orionova replied to MommyRedmond's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
From what I've researched, I would not recommend Genepro. The actual protein content in one serving is 10 grams, not 30. It claims that you absorb it three times better, so that it's as if you are getting 30 grams. I find that difficult to believe, especially since it says it is absorbed mostly in the upper part of the intestines. The part that gets cut out in RNY. The reason it is so tasteless and disolves so easily is because there is so little actual protein in it. If you do use it, use it in everything so you have a chance of getting your protein in. -

YES I ALSO USE GENEPRO ITS WORKS GREAT AND MIXES WITH ANYTHING. ITS A LITTLE PRICY BUT IS WELL WORTH IT. -
I also needed something not sweet at that stage, Progresso has a light French onion soup. I would strain out the onions and then add my unflavored GENEPRO Protein powder to it. So yummy and savory!!!!!

How do u get ur protein?
CheleLynn45 replied to culmer's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I will be 7 weeks post op tomorrow. This is my daily routine....... Breakfast: 32 or 24oz of decaf tea (32oz on my days off, 24oz on workdays) with GENEPRO unflavored Protein mixed in, Tbsp fat free creamer, and two tsp splenda. 31grams Lunch: RTD Premiere Protein shake (I alternate between the vanilla and chocolate) 30grams Dinner: This is where it varies on what I eat, but I usually get between 15-20grams depending on what I eat. So my total protein for the day varies between 72-80grams daily. My surgeon has me on two shakes and one small meal daily only. I thought this would be hard to do, but it really isn't because I really don't feel hungry. That I like. I am gonna work this tool as much as I can in the beginning because I know it will get harder as the months go on. Good luck on your journey!!! -
How do u get ur protein?
MrsMurky721 replied to culmer's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
How far are you post-op? I'm three days out. I set a timer on my phone to go off every two minutes so I remember to take a sip. It's slow but the only way I can get myself to drink anything. I found New Whey Liquid Protien. It's 42 gm of protein in 4oz. Not delicious but oh well. I also bought Genepro online. It's a flavorless protein powder that can be mixed into anything. So along with my protein shots I'm sipping on lemonade with genepro to get in my water and extra protein. -

I use Genepro, and the stuff us amazing. No taste, and only about a tablespoon worth equals about 30 grams of protein. You can buy it in amazon. .. it also mixes great with hot foods and liquids with no clumping. -
Genepro unflavored!!
-
I couldn't do artificial sweeteners or plain water, so I drank decaf herbal teas, Vitamin water, lifewater, pedialyte, dilute 100% fruit juice, dilute Powerade, chicken broth, beef broth, Swansons tortilla soup base, and strained wonton and hot and sour soups. Added Un jury unflavored powder to the soups and it wasn't too bad. Tried isopure but it made me gag. I've heard genepro mixes well with everything and has no taste, but I've never tried it.

Started purée diet today. Help!
LaLoLaughs replied to alyssadietrch's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I have used Genepro. It's flavorless (for the most part) and dissolves in most things pretty quickly. A tablespoon contains 30g of protein. I have put it in my coffee, milk, yogurt, ricotta bake and even egg salads. I prefer this one to u n j u r y. I bought mine on Amazon after discovering it on the forums here. -
I didn't know how much it was. I'm guessing my NUT doesn't know either since she got it for free. But everybody had great thing to say about Genepro so maybe I'll try that one. She recommended Unjury but I've not heard good things about the taste.
