Items recommended for home after surgery???
Irishflower79 replied to reed3580's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
All those are great things to have! I am 4 days postoperative and the one thing I had to go get today was Vagasil cream (I know TMI) but the IV antibiotic given at the hospital and the antibiotic 5 days post op wrecked havoc on my system! Good luck with everyone's up coming surgeries!! -
This post may be a lil TMI...Be warned... I was banded on March 23rd and started working out a month after. Mostly elliptical n treadmill. The other day I tried this elliptical type 'climber/stepper', it did feel very intense but I pushed through. All of a sudden I had shooting stomach pains! I got so freaking cuz I've read about people's ports flipping n stuff on here. Anywho, I could hardly continue my work out as I tried to progress to a light jog on the treadmill after. I had to SPEEDRACE home b/c I thought I wouldn't make it on time. Tonight since the weather was nice in NY, my bf n I decided to go play basketball in the park. All was going well till about 45 mins in. Again I pushed through and lasted an hour. N then I thought I would go (sorry) in my pants. =\\\ Luckily, that was not the case. I had my second fill on Monday, so I know my port is in tact, in and place for that matter. Is this due to the band. Is our metabolism or something sudden revved up???? Anyone go thru anything like this??? It's highly annoying!

I slept all night last and woke in pain because I missed my dose of medicine...I'm on clear liquids but am allowed to have a shake..there have only been two times Ive felt hungry but I drank a shake and was fine..I feel swollen but im thinking it's all the sodium in the broths I've had...I bought low sodium ones but they aren't that good....the best thing I've had so far was I went to my local Chinese place and got some Won Ton soup but asked for the broth only !!! Heaven in my mouth. -
Sorry to be so personal, but the new sex positions we've been trying are awesome! Oh and lets just say I can see what's going on a lot better these days. By the way, I'm 68 lbs lighter since my June 6th surgery.

I am 6 days post-op. This morning I had my first bowel movement and since then haven't been off the toilet. Every sip I take is coming right back out. I'm scared of getting dehydrated! It's hard enough to get enough liquids without the constant diarrhea. Please help!

Hi, It was a year ago when I started my dr supervised weight watchers program for 6 months, then my surgery was July 21, 11. I started at 440lbs and today I weigh 330lbs. I just wanted to share my NSV's 1) I'm wearing jeans for the first time in 25 years! 2) I can walk everywhere with my kids! 3) I enjoyed shopping for the first time in a LONG time! 4) I wore my honey moon nightie for the first time in 7yrs! 5) I've decided to go back to school to change my career..big decision! 6) My hubby had surgery in Aug and wow the whoopie is sooo much better! TMI! I am so happy I did this, I have so much further to go and I hope to loose another 100 this year and with the sleeve and faith and persistence I will get there. Thanks for listening and this past years support! Tracy

Help, Anyone Have The Same Problem?
summerseeker replied to jthebutterfly's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes this was me too, its miserable. You need to go to the emergency room or contact your team and see if you are dehydrated, if you are they will put you on a drip. There are other things that will eventually make you feel better. Biotin spray is brilliant for that awful dry mouth You need to get some anti nausea medication, I take 2 a day, it helped a lot You need to up your liquids everyday, even if its only a little, once you get to your quota, this helps you feel better. The iron in the multivitamin may make you nauseous, I dropped it from my regime. I have never put it back into my vitamin regime because I have never needed it to date. So if this worked for me, it is not proven, I would have tried anything, I was so miserable. We all keep the large amount of acid our stomachs that we had before surgery, this does not help with nausea. Sleep in a recliner if you have one. I didn't, so I put a large book under the top of my bed and bought a wedge pillow Your first bowel movement is a doozy and TMI ALERT, I had to resort to rubber gloves, others have had to go to the ER and let the nurses deal with it. Once you get more liquid and food in you will manage better, plus then you will be able to get some constipation meds. As this medication pulls water into your bowel you can not take it yet. It would make you more dehydrated. I hope you feel better fast -
List of things I am sick of because of my weight.

Being an inch from the steering wheel and barely able to reach the pedals. Not even bothering to go to amusement parks anymore because it's so embarrassing to be sent off a ride for not fitting properly. Being afraid to go out for dinner and being put in a booth that will not accommodate me. Getting in and out of said booths. Being asked to be an extra in a film, but do NOT want to have your fat self in a movie forever. Also, being afraid there will be no costume that fits you. Not wanting people to take pictures of you and having your family pissed at you when you delete/destroy really bad photos of yourself. Not going swimming because any thought of getting into a bathing suit terrifies you (and you don't even have one that fits anymore). Wearing the same 3 pairs of pants because you simply cannot motivate yourself to buy the next largest size. Not being able to put on sandals because reaching around fully to the left side of your foot is now a memory. Not looking good in ANYTHING. Skin problems that I am fairly sure that are related to obesity. Being too tired to do ANYTHING after a full day of work that you used to love like taking care of the house, the garden ... Being too uncomfortable and self conscious for sex (sorry if TMI). Feeling guilty for over-eating. Not being able to horseback ride because your neighbor needs you to be under 200 pounds for the horse's sake. Be terrified of connecting with old friends because they will see you like ... this. It really goes on and on ... -
I’m back from my Physical Therapy. I was still so sore from my little ‘incident’ last night that I walked into PT and asked if I could start with the heat and electrical stimulation. I gave my PT a wink as she was working on someone and told her I had a little problem with my neck/shoulder and that I’d tell her later. Got off the heat and after an arm warm up she said she wanted to start (instead of end) with the massage/stretching she does. She comes running over when I’m back on the table and whispers like a school girl “So what happened?” (must have been something in my face)…I started whispering my sports bra injury story and she was hysterical with laughter. Now, you have to get that all the massage tables are right next to each other along one wall…I certainly don’t mind sharing…not much embarrasses me (yes, you knew that), but I didn’t want to embarrass the dozen or so guys around me…TMI and all that. Well, we were laughing so hard everyone was staring as I whispered my way through the horror of the dressing room. When I was done I asked “So what’s the weirdest thing someone was injured doing that came to you for PT?” I’m thinking there’s got to be some pretty crazy stuff…I’ve got doctors and nurses for family and friends and they’ve always got the wildest stories about patients, I thought they HAD to see some pretty whacky stuff in PT too, right? Apparently not…or some patients are lying (you know who you are...fess up!). She said “Oh, I could probably write a book, but your sports bra injury would be on page 1- Chapter One!” The guys next to us heard the first part about writing the book and another PT asked “Writing a book on what?” She says “Strange ways people injure themselves.” Here it comes… “Like what?” I turn to him (now the whole area is listening) and (I figure it’s all over at this point anyway) with a really load whisper “Sports Bra Injury!” All the men look confused, but the few women there all start nodding their heads and I get immediate feedback all at once from the gals “Oh, yea!” “ I’ve had that happen!” “Those things are terrible to get off!” “I’ve always wondered why they don’t put hooks on those too!” “Oh, I have to buy them 2 sizes larger just to get them off!” I’m thinking…OK, if this is so common, why didn’t someone warn me ahead of time. Where were you gals when I was walking into the dressing room with two smaller sizes? The guys at this point are all laughing hysterically. Then the women go for after the guys “Yea, you wouldn’t understand!” “You should just try getting one of those things off!” “Yea, buy one for your wife for Valentine’s Day and see how easy it is for her to take it off!” “Better yet, you should try one of hers on and see how hard it is!” At this point I’m picturing that tightly twisted rubber band bra and men’s chest hair…probably the ONLY thing that could make that more painful. I’m being really careful the next few weeks….don’t want to be Chapter Two.

TMI: question about bowel movements
RNY-Gal posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This may seem like a weird question but I need to ask. I'm 4 months post op and ever since day 4 my stool has been a light color. (White almost) its still like that. At first I thought it was normal and go back to normal color, but hasn't. So, is this the new normal thing? Or should I be worried? -

TMI Alert!!!! Not being able to wash my butt crack in the shower without doing some serious yoga and kung fu like manuevers! -
I've felt super full before and have thrown up a bit but this was my first time fully dumping. I got all the symptoms *tmi* i was sitting on the toilet with diarrhea while throwing up in the trash can. Shakes, flushed, heart rate at 135. All this because I ate 1 sweet and sour chicken ball and a egg roll. I feel like death. Sent from my SM-G973W using BariatricPal mobile app

@@ylluz sorry for the double posts I'm a little foggy brained and after I replied to one realized you answered on the other. ???? yes if I eat it slow cheese isn't too bad, not much caloric help or protein but fruit isn't horrible. (TMI ALERT) I've been asked if I'm having regular gas and bms to ensure there's no blockage, I'm good on that end. It's something to consider

Beware---some of this post could be considered TMI! Okay... so yesterday I noticed my stomach aching in the area where I'm sure the band is. Aching with a sharp pain every now and again. Last night it hurt as I was going to sleep, but woke up this morning and it felt better at first but as the day progressed it started to ache again. I was banded in January and had very little restriction until my 4th fill which was last month. I can still eat pretty much anything as long as I am careful with things like bread. So I'm going back in my memory trying to figure out if I should be concerned about this or if it is just muscle ache from being more active then usual. So Sunday... I had a pretty good size Breakfast, which I felt full after eating, but not painfully full and no issue's with backing up. (So here's the tmi) About 2-3 hours after breakfast my husband and I had sex and I was on top for the first time in years :w00t:. Then Sunday night we had pretty vigorous sex again :cool2::embaressed_smile:. Then yesterday early evening we took our son to the park and I decided that I'd race my pre-schooler. It was my first attempt at running in-well-possibly ever. So now my left side is really achy. My stomach around my band, my lower back and my thigh are all achy today. It does not hurt to swallow/eat, but it hurts my stomach and into my left lower back to take a deep breath. I am not having any issues with reflux, pb or vomiting. I was thinking I'd try to stick to mostly liquids for the next day or so (which is nearly impossible for me to do), and then if I am still hurting by Thursday morning I will call my doctor and see what they have to say. So should I be worried?

Sinus infection and antibiotics (TMI)
Quest4TheNewMe posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm battling a lovely cold which has turned into a sinus infection, so I'm on antibiotics. I never really noticed any digestive "complaints" from taking antibiotics pre-op, but it's a whole new ball game now... Ugh! It almost reminds me of the pre-op bowel prep (sorry, TMI!). Anything I can do/take to help reduce the effects? -
I am on my feet all day (I'm a teacher) and prior to surgery I had all kinds of tests - all normal. This may be TMI - but I'm just getting to the end of my cycle and it looks like the swelling may be going down a little. This was my first one since banding and today is day 7! So perhaps my hormones are out of whack.

Stall, hair loss and other changes (warning, TMI)
LAJ23 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So, I recently posted about hair loss. While I'm not happy that this is a side effect, it's comforting to know that some of you have gone thru this as well, and for most, your hair grew back. I'm taking all kinds of supplements in addition to the "regular" vitamins required post-op. I've added liquid iron, prenatal vitamins, biotin, and collagen. The first question is about stalling - again. I've been bouncing between 181-184 for over a month now. I'm not eating much due to the discomfort (I posted about this also). I'm desperately trying to get my protein in, but I simply can't eat enough to do that. I'm also taking the Unjury powder (which I can barely tolerate due to the taste even though I mix it into food/liquid), but still can't get anywhere near what I'm supposed to. I'm supposed to be getting in 60g-86g protein/day. Unjury only accounts for 22g/day. I can only eat enough to get about 40g-50g/day. My doctor is aware. How do I kickstart this weight loss again? Secondly (sorry to the men in the group), I'm 48 and suddenly started getting my period again. I'm on a medication that is supposed to stop it completely due to a previous medical issue, but obviously, something has changed so much with my body, that the medication, which has been effective for several years, is no longer working. I emailed my dr. and she started me on estrogen for 10 days but isn't sure why the previous medication stopped working. Have any of you ladies had this issue? -
Stall, hair loss and other changes (warning, TMI)
Penny1966 replied to LAJ23's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm not a doctor. I'm wondering if you might have endometriosis.... small areas of uterine tissue that grows in areas other than the uterus but still responds to hormonal changes as if it lived in a uterus. So if you still have ovaries that signal a period, that tissue gets the signal and sheds. Sorry if tmi....hth. -
Lactose Intolerance
KateMarie replied to KateMarie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
No such thing as TMI to me. It's only the milk that does it to me. Even if it's just the little bit I add to coffee. The worst part is that it's uncontrolable. I do not want to be known as the woman that passed gas at work. Dairy was my mine source of Protein because chicken and turkey aren't sitting so well. I read about people eating just about everything at 8 weeks and I want to gag thinking about it. -
I'm drinking! I'm drinking! I'm drinking!

Oh, there will be no butt trumpets here unless I am sitting on the pot. How in the world could I be (TMI) making this weird sludge if I have nothing in my system? It's disgusting and I am so afraid that I am going to shart. Butt trumpets are for potties only for now. -
Well, my ah-ha moment is not a poignant one, but a practical problem. I hope this isn’t TMI, but my moment was when I had to figure out a new way to wipe my behind because I could no longer reach. :sneaky: I was appalled that I couldn’t normally perform a function that was necessary to everyday life. I immediately thought about some of the folks on Big Medicine who are bedridden and totally dependant on another person to take care of them. I realized then and there that I was heading in their same direction, even though it was far down the road, I was heading straight for it. I decided to get while the getting was good.

Banded and very very sore...

I too have the gas problem and was able to return to work in 4 days. I find that walking reeeallllly helps with that along with my gas-x strips. The more and faster I walk the more gas I release. Sorry if this is TMI... -
This is about my husband
MADE IT 2 MY GOAL..OH YEAH posted a topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I have been pondering for a couple weeks now whether or not to post a thread like this but I really need to vent to someone and to get some advice. I'm not exactly sure how to write this post so if it sounds stupid, I truely am sorry. My husband and I have been married for 6 months and 5 days now but been together for 2 years and 5 days. When we met, I was 32 pounds lighter than I am right now. I guess after we moved in together I quit trying to lose rest of my weight and didn't care. We have 4 children together. 2 from my previous marriage and 2 from his previous marriage. After alot of talking about it I decided to have the lapband done and was banded on Aug. 18 of this year. Since my surgery I have lost 14 pounds and am pretty happy with that. This is my problem. My husband (whom I love with every breath I take) is always saying that I am going to end up cheating on him. You have to understand I am 30 and he is 41. That is a 11 year age difference. He has been married twice before and both time, the women cheated on him. I have told him time and time again, that I love him, I am extremely happy with him, I want nobody else, and that he is everything that I have ever wanted in a man. He is a very hard worker (most days he works 18 hours out of 24, he is a truck driver). He is a very good provider, he is good with my children and his and treats my as his own, he takes care of me, makes me feel like a queen, and really good in the sack (I know TMI, TMI). I just had to through that last part there in.lol Can someone please help me to find a way to make him see that I never in a million years would leave him for someone younger or anyone else. He is driving me crazy and I want him to be like he was before I had the surgery. The man that knew I loved him and wanted nobody else.
