    3 DAYS POST-OP GAS!!!!

Time time time...that's what I keep hearing...lol I'm IMPATIENT!!!! Its so much better today after I finally passed some gas last night and today. I just keep reminding myself everyday is only going to get better! @Chef there is no such thing as TMI in this forum in my book...lol

    Hard to eat foods

I'm only rounding out 8 months PO but I can eat anything except rice. It's the only thing I actively avoid. It gave me constipation pre-op and post-op my dealings with it have been few but each time I have either had discomfort or pain so I avoid it. I have only had a few "bad" interactions with food and have never thrown up or slimed since the 6 week relearning food phase. My bad interactions were at 2 weeks PO, I threw up on tuna fish. It was too soon for me. At about 8 weeks, I forgot and drank Water too fast. I was sore for two days and thought I had blown something up (I didn't). I have had a couple times where I ate too much or too fast and felt queasy or overfull. But these are minor and I haven't had any actual food reactions. As long as I eat slow enough and listen to my body, everything goes down fine and stays down fine. ETA: I forgot my nemesis, Fresh and Easy turkey chili. Yeah, I ate it twice in one day (1 cup total) and OMG...I got such bad painful gas, I thought something exploded or got blocked and I was going to die. I sat up all night debating going to the ER, finally went to sleep, and woke up the next morning feeling better albeit in a room that smelled like something you would never want to smell. woowhee. TMI, but y'asked My main problem PO is not so much with food but getting super gas and gas pains. For some reason, I get a more farty PO. I hope it goes away eventually.
  3. @@truberry LOL LOL my X husband used to say "any more than a mouthful is a waste!!!" hope thats not TMI my wonderful husband of almost 23 years went through me and my dble mastectomy 15 years ago- so he's been fine with the "small" me up their LOL after always being big - my reconstruction i insisted on small boobs now they are small and "perky" but remember i'm still as "cute as a button" @@Kindle - training bra gotta luv it kathy
  4. I broke a chair at someone's house about two years ago. I didn't weigh too much more than some of the men there, but still... I think it's a combination of things. I refused to be in pictures. When I saw myself in pictures I couldn't believe it was me. It must have been the lens, or the angle, or something. Or I was standing next to that skinny person! That said, even employing all of the "tricks" like putting your weight on one leg, being photographed from above, turning my head…it didn't disguise that I was big, and getting bigger. Especially when I knew the person next to me in a photo did in fact look just like that... Two years ago I participated in one of those "have a month free" things at a local (very nice) health club. I loved it, really wanted to do it. But (TMI warning) I had female issues…I peed when jumping rope. Then I investigated that with a local urogynocologist, and had the surgery to correct that about 6 months later. I put off going to the doctor to avoid stepping on the scale. Sometimes refused to weigh if I had to go. This year I realized that the last two surgeries I have had (gallbladder and uro-gyn)--if they were not caused by my being overweight, they were exacerbated by it. And I spent a lot of the last year getting sick in small ways and not just bouncing back. And my weight kept creeping up. I realized that it was really a matter of time before I was staring at a diabetes or heart disease diagnosis. Maybe 10 years, maybe less. And did I want to live my life that way, or take the bull by the horns now? Anyway, here I am. Happy about the choice. Working on myself and my progress.

    Constipation with extra protein?

Oh heavens, yes! I had my gallbladder out 5 years ago and have had real "dumping syndrome" problems until my WLS 3 months ago. Actually until 4 months ago when I went on the pre-op diet and also cut out coffee. I will tell you that there are days I wax poetic about the loss of dumping syndrome. But that's not everyone. Some people get dumping syndrome after WLS. I have not. I do make sure I get at least 70 oz of Water a day and that helps. I saw a good post about someone adding dehydrated veggies to their diet to help with regularity. I know a lot of people use Fiber products to help. I haven't been so uncomfortable yet that I've tried it. But I'm tempted on the weeks when I'm stalled on my weight loss! I know--TMI.
  6. Hi I had gastric sleeve surgery six weeks ago. There have been no issue since surgery. I recently changed my diet her my nutritionist to soft food. I introduced a few new foods that was two days ago. I was constipatedfor the past three days (tmi) but develop a stomachache this morning and was able to go to the bathroom. All day I have had severe stomach cramps that feel like when I was 15 having menstruation cramps. Anybody have any idea what this is from. I would normally take Advil but not allowed now so I just took a pain pill that the doctor gave me after surgery. If you could please tell me if this is happened to any of you or if this is something I should be concerned about. I appreciate any insight. Thanks Tammy Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  7. Glad you went to the ER. Getting fluids in is my biggest challenge as well. Because of my lack of hydration I got a huge hemroid which had to be surgically removed (I know TMI) and the surgeon said it was caused by lack of fluid. Can I just say sitting on a donut with a bunch of stitches in your bum is no fun! I'm trying to drink more!!!
  8. it’s healing … a little tmi but the infection is one thing but the fact it swelled and burst yuck twice now is what disturbs me! once in the grocery store with the first infection before I could even pick up my antibiotics and this second time sitting in my doctors waiting room (thank goodness i brought a tea towel to catch it.. yuck) after i was on antibiotics for 24 hours … dr says it may happen again because it’s probably an infected stitch which needs to finish dissolving (up to 12 weeks to dissolve) … totally terrified of it swelling and bursting again.. he thinks and any procedure he does could potentially do more damage than the infection.. on 17 day course of antibiotics to try to keep it from flaring again ….

    Fat people in movies

LOL...maybe a little TMI. I usually don't have a problem, but I gotta say...my daughter is almost 11 now and I never stopped buying baby wipes. I love them. They beat Charmin hands down. As for the thong - I love them. My best friend's sister-in-law is chubby like us, and we found out that she wore them. So, we were like, "HUH? Fat girl thongs - no way." But, we were at Lane Bryant and decided to buy a couple to see if we liked them. The SIL swore by them. I loved them so much, I tossed my old ones and bought all new thong undies. I still have my low riders for when I wear my low riding jeans. Thongs and low riders DON'T MIX.
  10. Sorry guys but I have to ask. I am struggling to get in my Protein. I was told to up it to at least 60 but more like over 100. So ONE day I decided to drink 4 of the Premier Protein costco drinks that have 30 grams each of protein. I got in 120 grams and the very next day I literally thought I would DIE. I had major bathroom issues like never in my entire life. Nothing would work. And I mean NOTHING. I thought I was going to have to get a stick of dynamite. Sorry for being so out there but it was horrifying!! I had to go to the doctor. They told me a lot of protein like that can really mess you up. Maybe my body wasn't used to it or maybe that brand of shakes who knows. All I can say is it has taken me a full WEEK to even get my body back on track. I'm on daily doses of miralax, Fiber pills, blueberries, prune juice..whatever is powerful. I never want that to happen again. I was actually scared!! LOL...I know it sounds ridiculous but it literally frightened me to death!! So how are you all really getting in these high amounts of protein and NOT having to live on laxatives b/c I really don't want to do that. But I've noticed that the higher the protein the faster the weight loss

TV shows about obesity; Ruby, Big Medicine, Brookhaven - etc.

I've just started watching Big Medicine & Ruby. For me, the jury is still out on Big Medicine, as I find the surgeries a bit TMI. I really enjoy Ruby. She's really inspiring. On the lighter side, Drop Dead Diva is fun, and I have gotten hooked on Dance Your Ass Off.

    Just had surgery Monday

Hey there! I was banded on Monday as well so I don't have any definite answers, but I can certainly share with you what I am going through as well. My experience is pretty similar to yours. First of all, don't stop drinking Water. Yesterday and the day before I realllllllly really slacked on my water intake. Today I got some major gassy like cramps in my stomach, got cold sweats and was having trouble breathing. I think that I was getting dehydrated! Once I started drinking water, I started feeling better & better. As far as a BM, I finally had one yesterday. I tried this morning when I felt horrible, but it was watery. (sorry tmi) I answered the questions that I could. They may not be much help, but thought I would give you a perspective from a 4/18 surgery date as well. Hope you feel better soon! 1: Left side under rib, what is this pain/discomfort I am feeling???? The doc has my port on the left side of my body, and I believe it's stitched to muscle? That causes me some pulling discomfort... I'm starting to get used to it, I suppose. 2: I constantly feel my stomach growling - is this normal???? Well mine is too lol. It gets annoying! Perhaps it could be normal...? 4: Why can I do ok laying on the recling couch, but horrible if I try to lay in bed? I also slept sitting up for 2 nights. I upgraded to my bed the third night, even though I was uncomfortable at first. When I woke up, my body felt much better that it had gotten to stretch out. (I did prop myself on 2 or 3 pillows, with one at the side lol) 5: How long is recup time? I thought I'd be able to go back to work Monday, I'm still taking Pain pills at night just so I can sleep. I'm wondering the same thing. Not going back to work Monday, for sure. 6 I am barely drinking, I'm lucky if I can drink more than 15 oz of Protein shakes. I'm trying to just shake and not blend, but finding them hard to get down. Try the pre mixed! They are much better and easier access in my opinion. 7: Water seems a little easier to get down. and I can eat Ice pop and Jello....but how long before I can eat food another 3 weeks, how will I last???? I'm just dying for real food, but I can't wait for cream of broccoli, cream of tomato, or maybe something else. I've already nibbled on a little bit of mashed potatoes. Started eating sugar free Jello pudding too. I bought a can of Tomato Soup as well... can't wait to try it! 8: Stopped heartburn meds, but gas pains are yucky. The heating pad works wonders... especially if it's in your shoulder like mine. I am still using the heating pad. I love it.

    In Pain, please help

Ok so I'm thinking I might be dehydrated but I'm not thirsty so that's strange. Anyway, I ate a granola bar for breakfast at about 9:30am, then I ate a soft shell taco(tore off most of the tortilla and took out the lettuce since it was only iceberg). Anyway even after the granola bar I started getting a little pain. It's a pain on my up left stomach. It almost feels like constipation or like somethings trying to move around or be digested, and I just took a stool softner since (TMI alert!) I've been bleeding when I go number 2 and it hurts, its probably a combination of not drinking enough water and cutting breads out of my diet so i'm losing fiber....Anyway just some insight from people...personal stories? lol

    october 7th and horrible pain

I'm October 8th and still have pain in the middle of my chest. It's like major heartburn I guess?? I've never had heartburn before. I was able to eat my first sugar free pudding a little bit ago and now have the runs. I know tmi. I'm ok with the incision points but this heartburn is the worst. Trying to keep hydrated. Have only been able to drink about 2 bottles of Water (if that) everyday. After 4 hours of taking percoset, I get the chills and the pain comes back. I have learned that after 20 minutes of taking the pain meds, I can get most sips of water in as well as my Vitamins. And then of course I'm not freezing anymore. How are you feeling?

Low Carb diet and the lap band

As far as the fill goes I have had 3 in the past 6 weeks... They won't do another one until they repair my port. Which we are waiting on the insurance for. I am really not hungry (just in my head I am) but when I log my food I notice that everything is high in carbs. Like I said I had no direction on what or what not to eat. I know protein first but what protein.. Had problems with the shakes and since the surgery severe problems with constipation. (sorry tmi) So now I am reading and deciding how to proceed

    Bruised Lady Bits

Well Ladies, maybe it's time for us ladies to take charge. Yes, I mean take charge. Ask for what you want from your man! Yep, give him directions on what you like. Slow it down, take time to enjoy every moment of it. The funny thing is, that when you are in an aroused state, you do not feel pain like you would if not aroused. Sorry, this may be TMI! But enjoy sex! We burn calories when we're having sex! Yayyyyyyyyyyyyyy!

    Exercise = sick

Hello all. I was just wondering if any one else has this issue and if there is any thing to do about it? So when I work out I wind up getting sick, like I get super nauseous and light headed and if I don't curl up in a ball and go to sleep I throw up (TMI I?m sorry). I seem okay (don?t need to lie down but still not feeling great) when I just do cardio. When I work on strength training it gets worse and when I do any ab works outs just forget it I am in bed the next few hours. I thought it might be low blood sugar or something so I have tried eating before and after work out plus testing my sugar levels but they were fine (no I am not diabetic and have been tested for that) I also have great blood pressure so I don?t think it is that. My only guess is that I am getting over heated but I don?t see how my abs would affect that. HELP I want to work out but it is hard to motivate your self to do something that you know is going to make you sick.
  21. All those are great things to have! I am 4 days postoperative and the one thing I had to go get today was Vagasil cream (I know TMI) but the IV antibiotic given at the hospital and the antibiotic 5 days post op wrecked havoc on my system! Good luck with everyone's up coming surgeries!!
  22. Sorry guys tmi! I was 5 days stopped up tried prune juice , it was nasty meant to get a stool softener instead bought laxative.... Never taken one . I thought I was dying in middle of night, chills sweats couldn't stop going cramping, now I'm feeling dehydrated and still going! Did i do something wrong! What should I take or do next time?!!!?? Ps I am 3 weeks out still on full liquids!
  23. MADE IT 2 MY GOAL..OH YEAH

    This is about my husband

I have been pondering for a couple weeks now whether or not to post a thread like this but I really need to vent to someone and to get some advice. I'm not exactly sure how to write this post so if it sounds stupid, I truely am sorry. My husband and I have been married for 6 months and 5 days now but been together for 2 years and 5 days. When we met, I was 32 pounds lighter than I am right now. I guess after we moved in together I quit trying to lose rest of my weight and didn't care. We have 4 children together. 2 from my previous marriage and 2 from his previous marriage. After alot of talking about it I decided to have the lapband done and was banded on Aug. 18 of this year. Since my surgery I have lost 14 pounds and am pretty happy with that. This is my problem. My husband (whom I love with every breath I take) is always saying that I am going to end up cheating on him. You have to understand I am 30 and he is 41. That is a 11 year age difference. He has been married twice before and both time, the women cheated on him. I have told him time and time again, that I love him, I am extremely happy with him, I want nobody else, and that he is everything that I have ever wanted in a man. He is a very hard worker (most days he works 18 hours out of 24, he is a truck driver). He is a very good provider, he is good with my children and his and treats my as his own, he takes care of me, makes me feel like a queen, and really good in the sack (I know TMI, TMI). I just had to through that last part there in.lol Can someone please help me to find a way to make him see that I never in a million years would leave him for someone younger or anyone else. He is driving me crazy and I want him to be like he was before I had the surgery. The man that knew I loved him and wanted nobody else.

    Bm Question

The first time I went was about 4 days post op I had diarrea the first 2 weeks then the 3 week I didn't go at all. Then I was so constipated I though I was have to go to the ER to get it removed I know to much TMI but it was so bad I never felt like that ever. I took mirax and senokot still nothing the next morning my husband made me a cup of decaf coffee and that did it!!!! I never want to feel that way again. So I take senokot every other day and that seem to be working.
