  1. It's official I have now crossed over from the plus/woman's world side of the store back to misses I am wearing a "L" top still "XL" pants but getting there. I know these are "good problems to have" or at least that's what everyone's telling me. So if I'm normal size does this mean I'm "normal" now? Well I still have about 40 lbs to goal but I haven't seen this size in a VERY long time. Not since 2002. Just thought I'd share so you post ops will know what's in store for you. And the answer to the question is "no" I'm not and never will be "normal" but I'm me. And a happier healthier version of me. And I'm more interesting than normal anyday

wonderful NSV! one of the things I'd like when I get to a normal weight is to be able to be a passenger with the husband. comfortably. We need more time away from the teenagers.

    Gloves come off?

Also, as a bonus, no one is throwing buckets of water on you as you lay down in the sand. Congratulations on your successful weight loss/keeping the weight off and NSVs.

I am so happy went walking today and did 5.3k in one hour without stopping once and didn't run out of breath. Something I would have never done before. Can't wait for the 5k color run. [iMG][/img] Sent from my LGMS330 using the BariatricPal App

By request - BigViffer Workout Routine

Hey guys - I wanted to post an update to this thread. Another NSV for me. The deadlift is a damned hard exercise for several reasons. First off, you are lifting dead weight off the floor. Secondly form is so incredibly important in order to avoid injury. That is paramount to me since my entire weight issue started with an injury. Well I am happy to say that today I set a personal best deadlift record; 185lbs! Back feels good as do my knees. Sure my legs are tired, but there is no pain. I am roughly 25lbs from my deadlift goal of my body weight. I should totally be able to accomplish that by my year two anniversary. Hopefully my pull-up will fall into line soon too!
  6. What a wonderful NSV!! Congrats!! Sent from my HTC One M9 using the BariatricPal App
  7. I am 16 months out and down 140 lbs. I went from 334 to 194 and LOVE IT! It has been brought to my attention that I no longer look like the woman I used to be. Some say I look younger, others say it looks like it could be my sister but definitely not me.. I love it! I feel like a different person too. There are so many things I can do that I never did before (as I sit with my knees to my chest on the couch comfortably while typing this... ummm can you say MAJOR NSV?????) I would like to lose another 10 lbs or so but I am totally happy where I am now. Feel free to share your face to face pictures below!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    NSV: Half Marathon!

what a great mom/son experience and an awesome NSV!
  10. This morning I finished 13.1 miles and it was AMAZING!!!! Celebrating 145lbs lost so far....I was able to run with my son on Friday in the Disney kids races and then able to finish my half marathon race today! Tough, emotional, painful....but so rewarding. Highly recommend the RunDisney for anyone looking into racing. This was my second attempt at a half marathon. The picture on the left was about 2 years ago and maybe 80/90lbs heavier. I only made it to mile 9 and my body gave out. Still an amazing experience but nothing on what it felt like today crossing that finish line!
  11. @@mnopali - those are all NSVs and they are the best! WELCOME to BP!

    A Motorcyclist NSV

I put this in the Guy's Room only because I don't think the women will care. I finally got to ride my motorcycle today for about 3 hours instead of just down the road and back. I have a 2010 VFR1200 sport touring bike. Don't let that touring part fool you, a VFR is not an "old man's" bike: Anyway... This bike has 170 hp and 100 ft/lbs of torque. Do you know what that feels like when you take off? It feels like someone is trying to push you off the bike. Now imagine that you weigh 120lbs less than when you bought the bike! Now it feels like someone is trying to pull my arms out of my shoulders! But seriously guys, riding the bike is so much easier now than it was just last year. When you aren't trying to force 330lbs through a sharp corner things are a lot less scary. First of all, your tires have better traction. Second, it's like going from 2-up riding back to 1-up. Can't wait to start racking up the miles this year! Oh, and if you ride - post a pic. Doesn't matter what you ride as long as your knees are in the breeze.
  13. I can wear my daughters size 2 dress!!! No way I could have done this with my old boobs and stomach NSV!!!!
  14. While getting dressed a couple of weeks ago, I noticed a hard lump in the sternum area between my breasts. I had my 3 month post op visit coming up, so I figured maybe it was from my hiatal hernia repair and I'd ask about it at my post op visit. I went yesterday and told her about the bump. She said that wouldn't be from my hernia, so she'd better take a look at it. The hard bump is my sternum, I just had so much fat tissue there for so long that I had forgotten what it felt like. I practically had myself signed up for chemo after reading WebMD! The internet can be the devil lol Sent from my XT1565 using the BariatricPal App

girl! lol totally posted that as an nsv a few months ago! it was indeed a wonderful feeling

    NSV

I had three NSV last week. A shirt I ordered deliberately too small fit, my work clothes are too large now and don't need safety pins to hold the shirt closed, and my jeans that I'd bought 2 years ago and barely fit then, now require a belt. I'd thought after being sleeved 3/1 that I'd be further than 37 lbs down (especially after losing 28 the first week)... But these NSV's are keeping me going for now. Sent from my iPhone
  17. Clothes. What a total and complete change of feels about them for me as well. I hated clothes shopping in the past. Hated buying crap from Casual Male or any other big & tall store.....or bigger & taller. Now....it's so much easier. Any store has my pants or shirts in stock.....whether it's a clothing store, a sporting goods store or even Walmart. The new sizes are much, much cheaper than before, too. Levis, Dockers, Izod, Polo brands but at cheaper prices than I was paying at the no-brand b&t stores. I actually enjoyed the last shopping trip I went on. This may have been the first time in history that I can say this. Unforeseen NSV. You look great !!! It's gotta feel good to wear fitted clothes again and rock 'em like you are. Well done. Nooooooooooooo not the butt.........

    NSV - Fun

These are the fun NSVs! One day at about 6 months post op I noticed I was sitting on the bed with my legs crossed Indian style! I hadn't done that since the birth of my youngest son! He is 34 years old! Last week I had another one! Both hubby and I are morbidly obese. Now I am normal, he is still morbidly obese at 285lbs and 5'10". I used to be heavier than him at 310, same height. Anyway we went out to dinner with my son and granddaughter. They are both normal size. We got a booth, I slid in and told hubby to sit next to me. Normally we sir across from one another. I am so small that he fit in with me and we still had a lot of room! We used to have one kid next to each of us! He was in awe when he saw how much room between me and him and me and the table. He looked at me and said you are so tiny I can hardly believe it! I just looked at him and grinned like a Cheshire Cat. He got the good boy award for the day, making me feel so good!
  19. Exactly one year ago today I got my sleeve. As part of my process of losing weight, I have decided to post my story. Warning, emotional dump below. Thank you to everyone who reads. I am so grateful to BP and to everyone who has the courage to share as I learn and am inspired by your stories – so I decided to post my own. I cannot imagine going through WLS without BP and you all. Figuring out why I got fat – and how to heal myself I have literally spent the past 30 years in different types of therapy trying to figure out why I do not take care of myself, love myself or feel worthy of love. Through the process, I have learned a lot about myself, done some hard work yet was still very overweight (high 421) and struggled daily with basic self-care. I am a social worker and have also spent the past 25 years working in the helping profession, yet I was not helping myself. I am so grateful to be able to say now that I am taking care of myself, really for the first time in my life of 44 years. Thank you WLS. I have been in talk therapy on and off since I was 14 when I tried to kill myself because of nightmares and flashbacks from childhood trauma that scared the hell out of me. I was in a group for sexual abuse survivors for many years because of the sexual abuse from my grandfather - a known sexual perpetrator that my mother moved into our house for free babysitting. I have done focused healing work on my abuse from him and the immense abuse and neglect from my mother. I have done somatic body work and EMDR for trauma, couples therapy with my husband to work through how my trauma and his trauma trigger each other, a formalized emotional eating disorder program for my binge eating (and of course Weight Watchers numerous times, nutrisystem, South Beach, Optifast, you name it) and copious amounts of psychoanalysis, CBT, solution-focused therapy, hypnosis, acupuncture, psychotropic medications, self-reflection and journaling, self-help books etc… And I weighed 421 pounds. Enter my decision to get the sleeve. I had been resistant, buying into the myth that if I tried hard enough, I would figure out how to take care of myself and not overeat. After struggling with enough energy at 421 pounds to run a non-profit, take care of my family and go to school for a masters in social work, I took a year off from school and signed up for the weight loss program at Kaiser. I always heard that in order to take care of others you must take care of yourself, but for some reason I thought I could be the exception. I was finally motivated enough for WLS. A year later I got my sleeve at 385 pounds, and today, exactly one year after my surgery I am at 253 pounds with another 100 to go. I could never be here without WLS and my learning to finally and truly start taking care of myself. I realized that the solution was inside me the whole time – realizing that at my core, I felt I was a bad person and had to show everyone else this by my weight. I was using my weight as a boundary because I couldn’t say no or take care of myself. In addition to WLS, I have started mindfulness training, worked hard on self-compassion (based on Dr. Neff’s work) and letting go of the shame that kept me big (Brene Brown’s work). I still have a long way to go, but today I wanted to honor how far I have come from the scared little girl who was traumatized to the adult I am today who finally is not scared to be healthy and take care of herself. Happy one-year surgiversary to me!

    NSV - Fun

I wanted to share a NSV that I had last night...I attended a pre-conference event at our church and decided that I wanted to take notes...for the first time I think EVER I was able to lay the book on my "lap" and write..then amazingly I did not have to move the book when finished I just left it there and when i needed to write again could...that was an amazing feeling. I am feeling so blessed and thankful!
  21. I have reached a lot of NSV that I never thought about before. Sitting curled up, fitting in the middle seat of the car, comfortably fitting in benches and chairs when out with hubby, crossing legs, sitting with knees to chest, painting toes, wearing "regular" clothes, buying a form fitted dress, wearing heels without feeling like my feet will fall off, Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G920A using the BariatricPal App

    NSV

@@csawesome - the NSVs are THE best in my book. I love the scale moving, because I am a scale junkie, but I REALLY love the NSVs! Did you measure yourself? A lot do, I didn't, but I do have a pair of shorts that I was wearing that were tight pre-WLS.

    NSV

Despite my scale going up by three pounds this week, today my regular pants wouldn't stay up. I put on jeans that were too small when I bought them three years ago. From a 26w presurgery to 22 (with a small waist) a little over 2 weeks post op. Embrassing the stall. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using Tapatalk

    I've gained 3 lbs!

@@trishrnyoung - Stalls are part of the process - expect, them...EMBRACE them...measure yourself, you may be losing inches. The losing inches is a NSV (NON scale Victory) - those are THE best. I am allowed some Miralax, if needed. Keep Water with you all day, in the car, at work, at home (sip, sip, sip). you "got this" Welcome to the family and the losers bench!
  25. I find that I am tucking in my shirts more often, just to help hold up my pants. :-) that counts as an NSV, right?
