    Freezing Homemade Broth?

Hi there, congratulations on all! Big new chapter opening in your life! I, too, am a planner. Made quite a bit of cauliflower smush and had to toss some, but what the heck. As for broth, I make it regularly and have a freezer full of jars. I have been using Genepro protein powder which mixes very well into everything I've tried so far. 30 grams for a tablespoon, less than 100 calories.
  2. I think it's very doable. I love premier Protein ( Choc and vanilla) drinks from costco and would take enough for 2 a day. Olive Garden was kind enough to purée my minestrone Soup for me during my liquid stage. Enough for 2-3 meals. sugar free pudding and Jello. I bought from Amazon GENEPRO Powdered Protien. You can add it to Soups, drinks etc. Just take a small jar of it with you to up your protein. Just follow your Drs rules and don't get caught up in the food. Have fun! Mixing two proteins

Rick it's hard to get 64oz of water and 70g of protein in at this stage I'm in. So, i tried to see if had a short cut to something. But, since Genepro protein can be mixed in any drink I will spread out the intake of protein in my water. Thank you.

    Pre Op Run Down

Hello all you beautiful achievers. First I hope your day is going well. I am 6 days pre - op and obsessing over making the right decisions and having everything ready for when I come home. I will be having the gastric sleeve with hernia repair along with having my gallbladder removed next monday. I have yet to decide on a vitamin regimin. I wanted to use the patches but my surgeon said he does not recommend those. I have ordered Genepro plain protein to add to any item with a 30g content per serving. I have gatorade and vitamin water along with plain water that includes electrolytes. I have plenty of flavored protein drinks and I have beef and chicken broth as I understand I will need to be on liquids for 3 weeks per my doctor. Help because I am frantic thinking I have forgotten something important and also I don't know which vitamins to choose. I would love your advice. Thank You.

    GENEPRO

I wanted to just say that I have been investgating GENEPRO about the protein. I went to 2 different studies and it is true. GENEPRO has 30grams of protein per serving. Which is 1 Tablespoon. If anyone is interested in the links just let me know. Have a great TUESDAY!!!

    Protein suggestions

I have the same problem with whey proteins since my surgery. I have found GenePro to be pretty tolerable. I can’t taste it in a fruit smoothie. Might be worth a try.
  7. They are saying their 10g of special protein is equivalent to 30g whey. I believe this says it best about Genepro: Long story short, they are selling lies. Most likely they are selling BCAA's and calling it protein. Do yourself a favor and buy a reputable protein brand. Gold Standard is good brand. There are so many manufacturers that lie on their labels, you almost have to look them up and see how many lawsuits they have against them before you buy! If their process was true, every other maker out there would be following suit because it is such a cutthroat business. The fact that most retail chains refuse to carry it is evidence of the company's reputation. Not going to get into a debate about chemistry. I do that enough at work, but the weight argument is actually moot. There are scientific and clinical studies that have shown that when whey protein isolate is consumed along with ProHydrolase, amino acid concentrations in the blood increase by 20%, compared to consuming whey protein alone. I believe Genepro mention this on their product page and about the bio-availability is comparable to 30g of protein. There are several protein products that are involved in class actions, and Genepro, despite all of its competitors complaining about them hasn't been sued for product misrepresentation so until then, I'll continue buying the product because my labs suggest that I am getting my protein (Albumin/Globulin/Total protein blood test). Just my two cents.

    Flavorless Protein powder

I highly recommend Genepro. It is 30 grams of protein for one scoop and it really is flavorless. I add it to my coffee and crystal light lemonade.

    Damn protein!

There are a few brands of Greek, Icelandic, or Bulgarian yogurt that are high in protein, low in carbs, and tasty. Fage is readily available at most grocery stores and Target. Trader Joe's has a plain Greek yogurt that is excellent, but you have to be careful to check the labels and make sure you're picking up the right one because they make several, and some don't have as favorable protein to carb ratios. Plain, unsweetened kefir also makes a good base, as does Fairlife milk which is higher in protein than most other brands. I began making smoothies using a high-protein dairy as a base with some lower-carb frozen fruit like raspberries. Acai is also lovely. Del Monte has no sugar added fresh peach cups that only have 12 carbs and are excellent in smoothies. Trader Joe's makes frozen sweet potatoes cubes that actually have less carbs than fruit, and I'll add a couple of them to a smoothie with milk and cinnamon. I also have made smoothies using unsweetened cocoa, PB2 or Peanut Butter, ice, and high-protein milk. Dr. Matthew Weiner is a bariatric surgeon who has recommended the "set point smoothies" to patients. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5MxZYAwzPuk When I was really struggling to meet my protein goals, GENEPRO gave me a boost. It is flavorless, odorless, and dissolves very well into hot or cold liquids, as well as into applesauce, yogurt, Soup, and the like. Some are rightfully dubious about the claims that it has 30 grams of protein for a tiny serving, and I wouldn't recommend it as a primary source of protein. I only used it for supplemental purposes. I cannot have whey protein, and most plant-based Proteins were unpalatable to me. You can buy it on Amazon.
  10. I tried the Genepro and as everyone said I cannot taste it which is great. The only issue is , that I use lukewarm water in a coffee mug about halfway and stir in the Genepro with a fork and it completly dissolves. Then I mix in more water and stir in Chicken bouillon powder and microwave it to heat everything up.. After a couple minutes sitting the protein powder starts to clump up a little.. Is this normal ? Thanks

    Right, Wrong...Good, Bad?

Get your Water in. It's very important that your do so. Water helps with your digestion. You are also at risk of dehydration since you are having diarrhea. You really need to meet your Protein goals. A lean cuisine is too processed not to mention full of sodium to adequately meet your nutrition needs. Another alternative is to buy unflavored Liquid Protein like GENEPRO or prosource and add that to Soup or tea. If you don't like the protein shakes looks for protein alternatives such as greek yogurt, hummus, ricotta cheese and Beans. Even buying a rotisserie chicken and eating that for lunch with some veg is likely better than that lean cuisine. ETA: Not getting enough protein is one of the main causes of hair loss.

    Protein intake

Get some GENEPRO. You can mix it with anything. I mix it with my hummus, yogurt, cottage cheese, I even mixed it into the infamous Ricotta Bake. We need to be creative in the begging soft food stage. It is very hard getting Protein in. Thankfully I have no issues with shakes. But I find the timeframe very difficult getting in protein and fluids in a 12 hour awake day.

    My sleeve dec 28 2015

Someone here posted about GENEPRO unflavored Protein powder. You can add it to anything. I'm on pureed foods so I mix a scoop of that in to whatever I'm eating and that helps me get to the right number of grams. It is so hard to get down 60 g protein and 64 ounces of Water a day. I feel like I'm constantly trying to force something down. My surgery date was 11/19. It's getting easier though and the Genepro helped. I even add it to bouillon, mix it in the nutribullet and that way I get extra fluids in.
  14. One thing i tried that i love are breakfast parfait's. I use fage 0% fat plain greek (taste awful by itself, it's very tart) and i add a scoop of gnc vanilla protein to it. And top it with my favorite berries. (If you want to add rolled oats on top for a granola like effect knock yourself out) -instant 45g of protein right there. -premier caramel a scoop of any flavor protein powder and caramel flavored coffee - instant 50g of protein - i've added genepro to sauces, dressings etc I've done fruit flavored greek yogurt mixed with any ready to drink protein and blended it with berries and ice for about 50g of protein. -loco moco over cauliflower rice (pinterest) using 93% lean ground beef, 1 egg and a few tbs of egg whites. (Almost 50g of protein) I'll add as i think of other things i've done recently.

    Not getting enough calories

Mashed potatoes with Genepro in it has helped me get my calories a few days.
  16. I've done a lot of reading about GENEPRO GEN2 Protein powder and it seems like a terrific way to meet my protein goals each day. The company said it is tasteless and odorless and can be mixed in hot or cold foods. Has anyone used it? Is it actually tasteless? I have a really difficult time getting enough protein each day so this might be an answer. If you have used it what do you typically mix it with? Do you like it? Thanks for any input❗️ Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App
  17. Stir Genepro or another protein powder into everything you can? That 🐭🐱is a hard hard question to answer. I feel like I'm a protein with occasional sides of veggies myself. Don't you feel like screaming YOU CANT GET BLOOD FROM A TURNIP! , cause I sure do!
  18. I want to push back a little. Why do you need to drink protein instead of eating, say, chicken, fish, lean beef, etc.? I personally don't use Genepro because I don't trust its claims (gram is a unit of weight -- you can't get 30 grams of protein out of 15 grams of substance). But if I did use it, I'd probably check out prices here at the BariatricPal store, Amazon, and EBay and figure out who has the best price and shipping deal combined. Good luck!

    Failure, forgiveness & getting real

I have used GENEPRO. I don't find it completely tasteless, but more importantly it changes the texture of things I put it in and makes it unpalatable for me. The best I did with it was to mix it up with a small amount of Water and add it to chicken broth. That went down quite well. However, my daughter has started drinking fruit smoothies in the mornings, and throws the genepro in and she says she can't tell it's there. I'm trying different things to put it in hoping to find something that goes down easily. I got samples of a bunch of different Protein shakes, and even though I liked one really well pre-op, I didn't tolerate it post-op and had to switch to Premier Protein for my morning "get the protein started" Breakfast.

    GENEPRO? What's up?

My NUT told me to count it as 17 grams of protein, not 30, but that otherwise it was ok to use. I've been struggling with finding a protein shake I can tolerate. Genepro is the first one I've found that works for me.
  21. GENEPRO, I have seen tons of people love it but lately I have seen LOTS of people warn against it or say no to it? Your thoughts? I use it, I like that I can use it in pretty much anything with no added taste and at any temperature. It worries me that so many people advise against it.

    GENEPRO

Most of the posts about Genepro sound like this to me.

    The truth is, I failed

I hated the Protein shakes but managed to gag them down anyway. That is until someone posted about GENEPRO unflavored Protein powder. I mix it into sugar free pudding, sugar free hot cocoa etc. I've mixed in cottage cheese or yogurt into the Protein Shakes with a little sugar free jam and it turns out like a fruit milkshake. There are ways to get the protein in that is not so gross. I like ricotta cheese better than cottage cheese so I mix the protein powder into that and you can't even tell and 1 scoop adds 30 grams of protein. As hard as it is to eat, nothing tastes as good as thin feels. Buy yourself an nice outfit one size down and hang it on your bedroom door where you have to look at it several times a day. I find that a great motivating factor. I just go shopping in the back of my closet and decide what I want to fit in next.

    Noosa yogurt?

I typically eat the oikios triple zero. Every once in a while (like today) I have a Noosa and add in some GENEPRO. How much depends on what flavor (pumpkin covers the taste of a full serving). HW 385 SW 359 CW 305 Sleeved 10/5/16
