    Protein Additive?

    Have you heard about Genepro!!!
  2. BLERDgirl

    Following the rules

@@Tashabella - If you think you still need supplemental Protein, try the unflavored protein, like Prosource, Isopure, Un jury or GENEPRO and add it to Soups & broth instead. As for drinking Water, try setting alerts on your phone. Something like drink half a cup every hour. As for exercise start simple. Google for quick workouts or check On Demand with your cable provider. Look for 10 - 15 min work out. Do them in the morning and in the evening. You'll have 30 minutes of exercise and not even feel it. If you need to go simpler, get some really light hand weights. 3lbs -5lbs would do. Walk the length of your house 3 times a day holding the weights. Swing your arms slightly as you walk.

    Post-OP Liquid Diet Phase

Try GENEPRO Protein (available at Amazon). It's been a life saver for me. Mixes into anything without changing the taste or the texture and you only need to add 1 tablespoon to get 30 grams of protein! Also, if you have a Trader Joe's in your area, tgey have yummy vegetarian thin Soups like carrot ginger, roasted red pepper and tomato or butternut squash. Good luck!

    Grazing?

Give Genepro protien try (available on Amazon). It's got 30 grams of protein in 1 tablespoon and is easily mixed into any liquid hot or cold. It's been my lifesaver! I don't really like "milky" protein shakes, but can mix it into 5-6oz Vitamin Water Zero or Crystal Light without changing the flavor or the texture. Do that 3x a day and you're covered!
  5. I have experienced a little dizziness too in the past week. I'm 11 days post-op. I try to start my day with Protein and it seems to help. I use GENEPRO which has 30 grams in 1 tablespoon and it doesn't mix clumpy. I take 8 oz skim milk (8 g protein) and mix at least 1/2 T (15 g protein) so that I'm getting 23 g right away. It doesn't have a taste, so you can mix it in applesauce, oatmeal, Soup, yogurt, etc. I got it on Amazon.com. My doctor also sent me home with some dissolvable pills for nausea, but thankfully that stopped in the hospital. I had it for 23 hours & it was horrible. I really hope you're feeling better soon!

    Protien on clear liquid diet

Chicken or beef broth, genepro, the Isopure if you can stomach it. It's pretty nasty but you can cut it with water or G2 and add MIO for extra flavor.

Why don't more people use Genepro?

I'm not sure why more people don't use Genepro, but I love it. I've been using it since after surgery and so far so good. It may be because you have to order it online and some folks don't want to wait. I've seen skeptics and downright haters of this particular product because it seems unbelievable to them that it could do what it claims to do. Kinda like my grandmother the first time she saw me with a cell phone.
  9. Seems like... the more I read, the more people are having a HARD time getting in enough protien right after having WLS. Why don't people just add a tablespoon of GENEPRO protien into their broth etc? Seems easy enough to me. Am I missing something here? Do people not know about Genepro? Hitting your Protein target seems easy this way. So why don't more people do it? Is it a cost thing?? I am still 4 months away from surgery, so I am trying to get this all figured out...
  10. honestly I know ive mentioned ive done tons of protein drink video taste tests on my blog, but the syntrax nectar and matrix products are hands down the best. I wont use genepro because of the obvious lie they use. they say you get 30 grams of protein in 15 grams of product which as you canguess is not possible. Ive called them out on this several times and they just delete my posts so I know they are not being truthful. I like a few isopure ready made drinks, the black tea being the best period. alpine punch and prange are decent . my favorites now are the syntrax nectar vanilla torte, the syntrax nectar cappuccino and the syntrax nectar fuzzy navel, I found using 1% milk with shakes like vanilla cappuccino etc. but water with flavors like cherry, fuzzy navel etc.
  11. I do put the powder in..but the powder I have is the genepro...which I'm gonna get lol

Unflavored Protein Powder to Sprinkle Over Food?

Genepro is the one that has 30 grams in about a tablespoon. It works great. I mix it with a regular protein shake and get about 60 grams in one protein drink. I get my protein in every day!
  13. I like FAGE0% greek yogurt. It's 18 gm of Protein per 8oz. mixed with fruit you can get a pretty decent protein boost that way. If it's too think for you, add some lowfat milk and mix in a blender. As a vegetarian there are some organic protein powders out there: Biochem, Vega , Orgain organics to name just a few. There are also great unflavored Proteins that can be mixed with food. GENEPRO, Procource, Isopure and the infamous Un jury. FYI- you may want to talk to your doctor about the gummie Vitamins. They are complete and may not be giving you all the mineral and nutrients needs. My doctor said even flintstone chewables were better than gummies.
  14. Thanks for the help! I have been using protein powder from Bariatric Advantage, but adding an entire scoop to something is FAR too much-and alters the flavor terribly. I just ordered Genepro from Amazon.
  15. Isopure and GENEPRO are powders. Un jury & prosource are liquids. Isopure can be purchased at GNC or Vitamin Shoppe, the others have to be ordered online. Other Protein alternatives are: powdered milk, plain greek yogurt, or kefir drinks.

    Cream of Wheat nightmare! Help!

I am 2 months post-op and eat plain oatmeal with Genepro protein powder, SF Torani Vanilla syrup, and PB2... Tastes like a PB cookie right out of the oven :-)
  17. Hi.. I just ordered Genepro from Amazon... 30 grams of protein in ONE TABLESPOON.. it states can be mixed in hot or cold drinks, but i plan on adding to my food, yogurt, cottage cheese, etc...

    Blah...

I am also 8 days post-op and have had up and down feelings. However, I try to remind myself that I just had major surgery and give myself a break. I had a dog which helps me get up and out. But then I do get tired and have had challenges of getting my liquids and protein. So i drink a glass of milk in the morning w Genepro which is unflavored and a great tri-peptide protein source. That helps because without protein we will feel tired. Friends who have had this surgery tell me to take it easy because we really do need to heal first. Depression can come too just because of the physical and hormonal changes so I'm actually sitting at my acupuncturist waiting for my appointment It's amazing how much this helps. Take care all and enjoy the holidays!!
  19. I used Un jury unflavored protein and you can mix it in anything up to 140 degrees. That was warm enough for me. supposedly genepro can be mixed with anything at any temperature. Never tried it. And I rarely cook, much less make soup, so they all came from a can, box or whatever the daily specials were at the local deli or soup/salad bar at the whole food store.
  20. Kindle gave some good suggestions. As for where to buy unflavored Protein there are brands such as Prosource, GENEPRO and Isopure. Prosource and Genepro are available online only as afar as I know, but Isopure can be purchased at GNC or Vitamin Shoppe. All 3 can be mixed with cold or hot beverages. Do not get discouraged if you don't like the first Protein Drink you buy or even the 2nd, 3rd, or 4th. I went through several before I found protein I liked that didn't trigger my allergies. Water is important, but as long as you get in some type of fluids, you won't get dehydrated. However you have to get in something. Don't suffer with a beverage you can't stand.
  21. Nope, hate every single one I have tried. Trust me, I think I have tried every brand on earth, pretty much. The only one I am okay with is GENEPRO unflavored because it tastes more like nothing and because it is concentrated you use a very small amount and when added to anything else you can't tell.

    Protein!

Yes. Musclegen makes an unflavored powder called GENEPRO which one tablespoon equals 30g of protein. You can mix it with yogurt, pudding, uncarbonated drinks (I tried it in diet coke one day and it was like a neverending fountain of foam. NOT a good idea...). It's great in coffee and sweet tea, I do it all the time. You can search for Genepro on Amazon.com and if you're a prime member you don't have to pay for the shipping.
  23. Hello, I post video taste tests of Protein powders and ready mades on my blog at http://cuttingthefatwithaknife.blogspot.com I will say be very very careful most protein powders have both regular ( non diet) and diet versions. Such as Muscle milk has regular which is for body builders and designed to put on weight. and muscle milk lite, which is for dieters. so be careful. I know one big issue I have is with the GENEPRO, it says you get 30 grams of protein from 1 tablespoon of product, which is impossible because one tablespoon is 15 grams, so how you can get 30 grams of protein from 15 grams of product beats me I even posted on their face book page and sent them an email and my posts get erased and emails go unanswered. I have asked friends who are chemists and one food additive manufacturer with a phd in food sciences and both tell me its not possible there is no way this is a factual statement, both felt it was a marketing ploy where they are using weight vs volume in the same sentence. Personally I enjoy the Syntrax nectars the best so far , matrix also very very good, I also like a particular chocolate by twin lab but its very hard to find. Particularly I enjoy the vanilla torte, and the fuzzy navel, I also enjoy the Cappuccino, and it uses totally decaf coffee in its flavor. Now if you have allergy issues or want a really mild taste look for abouttime yes its one word you can find it online or at some gnc's and natural food stores. they make a product called fill shake and go, its a pre loaded plastic disposable bottle, you just op the top an add liquid , shake it up and drink. but it has very few ingredients, just 4 total, the flavors are extremely mild, almost not there, I recommend the strawberry chocolate, birthday cake and vanilla, the banana is ok but you have to like banana, per se. find them online. Hope this helps.
  24. @@Kindle Isn't Syntrax awesome? So far, that and GENEPRO unflavored are my fav's!

    Is eating fruit okay?

My doctor approved fruit but just warned against any with seeds like strawberries which might irritate. Most mornings I have either a scrambled egg (or eggbeaters) with a scoop of sausage cooked into it and a small amount of cheddar cheese on top. It's a good Protein rich Breakfast. If I'm in a hurry, I have a hot chocolate with a scoop of GENEPRO Protein powder. I eat beef Jerky as a snack. I don't need to drink as many Protein shakes if I have some beef jerky. And it's delicious.
