My biggest craving now is sweets. Doesn't help that it's Halloween time and it was the time of the month for me last week... Sorry tmi. I couldn't imagine having to do shakes since July! We've got this ladies! It's hard but it will all be worth it.

'I will be a different person. The one I used to be'. I really like that. I haven't been overweight all my life. I was in fact underweight growing up. It started creeping up on me about 10 or so years ago. I have asthma, and every time they put me on Prednisone I would gain 20 pounds. And I was on Prednisone a lot. Then there are the 2 hysterectomies. Yes I said 2! The first one was 7 years ago. They only removed my uterus and cervix. I was under 40 and they didn't want to force me into menopause. Well, 3 years later, they found an ovarian cyst the size of a football. So, I had my 2nd hysterectomy to remove the cyst and everything else. My doctor said 'I guess we should have removed everything the last time'. Really??? I was not happy. Well, next thing I knew I was 270 pounds. Sad, depressed, frustrated. I want the old me back. Sorry for the long and TMI post. 18 more days and I will be closer to that healthy and skinny person that is under this fat suit!

Can't tell if I am hungry or full or what!
itsmekarenlee replied to pik's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I feel hungry but try to figure out what I want to eat and it's just too much trouble. After I come home from work out in the mornings I need to eat but often don't feel like COOKING anything. Seems like everything needs to be COOKED. I don't want to COOK! I just want some Cereal or something. Don't know what cereal we can have because our Nut says no cereal. I'm tired of eggs. Can't eat breads. Sick of yogurt. So I usually just drink a Premiere and get it over with even though our Nut says no more Protein drinks. Well, screw her. Eating is overrated. So is drinking. Today I forgot to eat again. Saw it was after 2pm. Oh snap! Ate a couple pieces of turkey jerkey. Meh, that's good enough. ::sigh:: now it's dinner time. Made a roast but it tastes gross. Not eating it. Sick of chicken, plus it gets stuck and then I have to make myself throw up so I can eat the rest of my dinner. Maybe I'll just drink another Premiere. Actually, I forgot to drink any today. Any liquids. oops. I haven't been very good with the liquids AT ALL. Gross. And they make you have to pee all the time. So annoying. But, I have to get back on track and eat regularly and drink. Does beer count? I really want a beer. I'm not much of a beer drinker but been craving it. Tried SF Root Beer. So gross. Anything SF tastes gross to me. Tried a half of non-sf root beer sno cone. SO divine! Felt sick after. No more non-sf sno cones for me. booooooo (but it's a good thing ) Tried sushi a few weeks ago. Was. Not. Good. Well, I mean it tasted super good but didn't feel so good in my tummy. Not sure if it was because I ate too many or because of the rice. I'm scared to try it again. Just ate an apple with Peanut Butter. 2nd try. Still not good in my tummy. gurgle gurgle wanna hurl. Pik, sure glad to hear you are doing better Have you been able to get off any of your meds since surgery? I'm off of my cholesterol med, half of my bp med, no more heart burn med and since stupid "top in the state" bariatric Dr doesn't do blood work on his patients until 6 months after surgery I got our family Dr to run the whole vitamin/mineral, thyroid, hormones, and whatever else panel the other day. Need to see how those B's and D and thyroid are doing. He's also running an arthritis panel because my joints hurt. They hurt worse when I drink SF liquids which I don't do anymore. oh Pik, I also had a 3 wk stall. UGH. My family dr asked how I broke it. Told him I pood. LOL! (sorry, TMI but true!) Seriously! That only happens once a week so he said I can take Colace or the like every day and eat Fiber. Isn't there a fiber pill or something? ugh LOL -
Ok, maybe TMI, but..... I have noticed since beginning protein shakes that I feel like I am getting a bladder infection. I did increase my fluids and it seemed to relieve it somewhat. Anyone else have this issue? Any tips?

I had VSG in April, and while I want to lose about 10 more lbs, I really did lose 80+ pounds pretty quickly (in 5 months). <TMI Alert!!> In the past few days I have noticed my poop is now a pale color and I have had minimal intermittent pain in my upper right belly. Of course, I googled both of these and saw they can be a sign of gallstones...add rapid weight loss, being a woman of 45, on the max dose of cholesteral meds and wls, and it seems I am a prime candidate for gallstones When I had surgery, my surgeon, of course, checked my gall bladder and it was good...no issues, but now I am wondering if it's becoming an issue. I have my 6 month check up next week, so I will definitely ask, but wanted to know if any of you had gallstones pop up *after* surgery and losing weight? How was it diagnosed, what were your symptoms and did you have to have surgery for it? Thanks ahead of time for any insight into gallstones and the relation to wls and rapid weight loss!

Problems with my Lap Band (port). New here to this forum.
ProudWife99 posted a topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi ! I am hoping to get some insight. I had my surgery back in 2008 and for the past month,my port has been sore, especially in the evening. I didn't think much of it because it's been sore off and on before but now this past week,my skin gets red literally around the port area. The redness comes and goes. I've also noticed that I'm really bloated and have had bad stomach issues (for weeks now) . Last night I noticed that my port was sticking out more than usual. I'm getting no help from my doctor other than they set up an appt for me on Friday. I thought maybe the stomach issues were a seperate issue but now I'm not sure . The issues i've had are diarreah and changes in the stool color (sorry if that's TMI). I've also had little appetite. Anyone else experiance something similar or know anyone who has ? Thanks for any info you can give me ! -
I'm almost 6 weeks out and I have been soooo constipated that I couldn't stand it. I had cramping and the dry heaves so bad. I took ex-lax yesterday and finally can say "I'm gonna live" Anybody else have this problem? I used to take magneasium before surgery when I needed "help" Last night I had the chills so bad and cramping..I know TMI but I can't be alone in this. Now I'm afraid to eat or get in the situation again.

HOW DO PEOPLE NOT NOTICE MY WEIGHT LOSS?
Rogofulm replied to sherripark's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Quote: This from the man who nagged me for YEARS about my weight. I think he is afraid I will leave him! Which is not the case at all! LOL You know... I think many of our spouses/partners make the, "You're gonna get skinny and leave me" comment. This is a big adjustment for them as well. And frankly, during our weight loss journey, by necessity we tend to be more self-focused. So part of our job is to reassure them that we love them and that's not gonna happen. (Assuming that's true, of course). My wife, who has no reason in the world to feel insecure, has said it in jest. I just keep telling her I love her. And by the way, now that I'm smaller, lighter, and more agile, our romantic life has improved as well! TMI–LOL!!! -
Lab concerns -- low ferritin / low protein / high b12?
Ginger Snaps posted a topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I see the doctor tomorrow to review my month 3 labs but they were posted online through a patient portal and most look fantastic except I am very low in ferritin and like double the B12 I should be. I supplement with B12 so he'll probably just have me drop the supplements. Looking online, it's very rare to be high in B12. I'm also low in Protein and ferritin. I understand the protein, it's a sign of malnutrition and very common after WLS... I'll probably just have to redouble efforts to get 60 grams a day or he may have me set a higher daily goal. The ferritin bothers me a lot. I CANNOT take Iron supplements at all... never have been able to. From the first day I take them I get so constipated I can't go at all. Right after surgery I tried to take them but go so stopped up I was having to take 2 stool softeners and 2 laxatives along with Fiber supplements to even go at all. I was developing hemmorhoids (sorry if TMI) and at one point thought I was going to have to go to the hospital because it hurt so bad and I couldn't do anything. I paranoid he is going to try to get me back on iron but I just CANNOT go through that again! As great as I feel with all the exercise and energy, I was really surprised to see that result come back like it did. I feel like crying over this one... anybody else have a similar problem with iron and any ideas? I can't live on laxatives and stool softeners and STILL be in so much pain. Ginger -
My doctor stated I would be going home without drains. Of course, assuming there are no complications. He doesn't use catheters routinely either. Surgery is only an hour and you will be awake and up going to the bathroom a couple hours later. Sooner then a night's sleep. But I sure don't go to bed with an IV with fluids. I hope my bladder can hold! Lol. Mine is not on the largest size either. I think with every kid it shrunk. Since I have been attempting to get my 68oz of Water (have not made it except 3 times in a month) I feel it may be the size an almond. My, oh my, I sure visit the little girls room a lot (TMI). I also wonder if my doctor thinks I'm super woman. I very much doubt I will be walking around two hours after major surgery. But some doctors do drains and catheters as part of their procedure from what I have read in this board. I guess it varies.

Motherof5 I've been having horrible issues with constipation.... And I think it was you who recommended using green veggies in my smoothies but anyway... I've tried everything miralax, milk of mag, prune juice, suppositories (sorry tmi) but nothing helped.. I bought this today from Walgreen's... It has kale, broccoli, spinach just a bunch of stuff and it tastes better than it looks trust me.. And it has protein as well.. And honey I drank less than half the bottle and it sent me in.... -
So today I notice my gas pains are subsiding. I was able to use the bathroom with no issues (tmi I know). But it seems I feel a stitch like type of pain now. I'm like well damn get rid of one pain there goes another. I took a pain pill this morning. Since surgery I've only taken 2 pills. Humm

SEPTEMBER 2014 POST-OP SLEEVERS CHECKING IN!
LaLoLaughs replied to Rovobay's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hi everyone! I barely made the cutoff for this thread. Got sleeved on the 30th. I was discharged 2 days post op, but bc I was given the option by my doctor to stay another night and I decided that might be best just to ensure, in my mind at least, that everything was fine. I'm easing off the liquid Tylenol with codeine and trying to use it only at night. I am/was a tummy & side sleeper, so that has been my biggest issue, both in terms of frustration and pain. Thankfully it is getting easier. I haven't been tracking my fluid intake too heavily but will do so today. I was pumped with so many fluids during my stay, that I haven't had much thirst and my urine is on track (TMI?). The lack of hunger is amazing to me. Not going to lie though, the head hunger has tripped me up a couple of times. I'm also trying really hard not to jump on the scale until my 1st post-op visit on the 8th-we shall see how long that lasts :-) One question-as a severe seasonal allergy sufferer, I'm taking liquid Allegra everyday. Thankfully, it's keeping most symptoms at bay. However that occasional sneeze and nose blowing is so painful. I found out the hard way NOT to hold in a sneeze-that was the most painful thing during the entire process so far. Any tips on how to make it less painful to sneeze? -
Ok, interesting NSV. When I walk up stairs, I notice my legs not rubbing together as much. Like I can actually realize a thigh gap. TMI, but I don't ever remember having one when I was younger HA!

100% on point for me Lisa... I was in a bad marriage, overweight and miserable, of COURSE there was no sex drive. Seven years out of that marriage and 56 pounds off my 5'4" frame, 14 pounds from my conservative goal weight, rocking size 6 jeans and able to wear all those lacy sexy things from the stores in the mall that don't carry any size above a large???? Um, yes, I'm feeling pretty frisky! lol Add a new man into that equation (who constantly tells me I'm hot -- I have to tell myself to believe and accept that)... let's just say if women are in their prime in their 40s and I've wasted 8 years of that, I'm planning to make up for some lost time! Sorry if TMI! lol

Anyone post op and suffering horrible diarrhea? Is it the lack of fiber and real food? I know my doc said I could have loose stools but this is like water
-
Maybe TMI but I did have bowel movements at 1 week granted they were liquid themselves. My surgeon is a fan of milk of mag if constipated so maybe check and see if that's ok for you
-
Sorry in advance for TMI, but I got my sleeve done Sept 15th. Didn't have a BM for one week. After a week I needed an enema. Then for the next 3 days unexpected explosive diarrhea. Then constipated again. Two days ago severe diarrhea and now I am so constipated things are stuck. Any suggestions? I'm afraid to take a stool softener because of the diarrhea.

the slime I think is wen you over eat and u feel like ur about to bust open and u throw up (vomit-tmi) it's more of a slippery or slimy liquid that comes off your stomach. Well for me that's wat I have experienced anyway. Any losers out there thinks it something else pl Enlightened me too. Later losers, enjoy losing.
