I did it! I got my sleeve this morning. I will say that the morning was rough due to all the gas pain. Not even morphine got rid if it!. But less than 8 hours later the pain is much better, due to walking and moving my arms.. I've walked the hall 4 times. And after a failed first attempt, i can keep down the ice chips! Im here overnight and can go home tomorrow if i can keep "breakfast" and "lunch" down. I had so many doubts, but right now I'm glad i did it, they've already taken me off Metformin, and i look forward to more NSVs! Sent from my LGLS991 using the BariatricPal App

Definitely a good NSV. Congrats! I'm getting here myself...kind of. I'm comfortable with head shots now, but full body pics still freak me out. I think I'm opposite of most WLS patients in that I perceive myself as SMALLER than I actually am. Seeing myself in a photograph doesn't match what I see in the mirror. They remind me how far I still have to go, and it makes me sad. But I'll get there! Lol -
"I didn't recognize you"
Miss Mac replied to Daisee68's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
It was one of my favorite compliments. At six months out, I had to see a specialist that I had not seen since a couple of weeks pre-op. I was on the treatment table and the doctor looked at the nurse and said, "Are you sure we have the right patient on the table?" They rechecked my ID band and my chart and re-verified my name and birthday verbally. I had to show the doctor my incisions to convince him that I had surgery and lost over 60 pounds. It was my first NSV. -

Conflicting Information From Doctors/Patients And My Fears
4MRB4PHOTO replied to Hey Man's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
There is no guarantee that you won't be one of the few people that can not eat spicy food or bread post surgery. That is a small risk to take vs being obese and all of the potential health issues that can come with it. Look at all of the positive aspects of your life that can happen: better health, living longer, more NSVs than you can shake a stick at, comorbidities that are significantly reduced or go away, etc.. Using straws or drinking carbonated diet beverages is a heated debate. The only time I use a straw is on infrequent occasions when I buy a diet fountain beverage from a convenience store. I do drink diet carbonated beverages without problems. Even my surgeon and his head nurse both think that carbonated diet drinks (when appropriate to drink, post WLS) stretching your sleeve is a myth. But out of fairness, they prefer Water as the beverage of choice. Also, diet sodas can be acidic and may contain caffeine. My hair did thin a little post WLS, but I never had any issues with significant hair loss and don't have a problem now. WLS is only a tool. We need to commit to a lifestyle change to make them very successful. -

NSV for weight loss AND plastics. These teens and I all bought the same size dress AND I didn't even have to wear a stinking bra!!!! Everything just stayed put!! I blocked them out because two of them don't belong to me so I don't want to put them on a public forum.

Flip flops were NOT what I was hoping for when I saw "Warm Weather NSV"... And for the record, here in Australia, we call flip flops thongs... And what you call thongs, we call niiiiiiiiiice (G-string actually)... Anyway... Good on you for whatever you said after 'flip flops'... I kinda lost interest once I saw that.. -

That's an important, thrilling one, @@Sophie74656, one of the most significant NSV's I think. I had a similar experience about a week after arriving in Onederland at 197 pounds, having started at 310. It became part of an essay that was published five years ago. Excerpt "A few days later a friend and I went to the live HD screening of the Met's new production of Nixon in China. During an intermission, he took pictures of me as he has on other occasions to document my weight-loss progress. A woman watched, laughing, while waiting for her husband. She told my friend, 'She's good,' nodding her head to point toward me while referring to my apparent comfort and fun with our photo session. Ordinarily I would have explained, offered apologia: 'Oh, no, you don't understand, I've lost a lot of weight, I always ran from cameras, I never felt good about myself, I haven't let anyone take pictures in many years, blah blah blah.' This time I controlled the impulse to burden this open-hearted, unsuspecting stranger with my mishegas. This time I smiled and said, 'Thank you.'" -

So I'm sitting here on the couch watching the Saturday morning news (Living the dream, I know)... I thought I'd check in here, so I reached over and grabbed the laptop... Opened it, signed in and have been sitting here checking you all out and commenting in my usual inimitable style... All of a sudden, I realize that I've been sitting here for half an hour with the laptop actually in my lap.. MY LAP??? When did I get A LAP?? Oh yeah!!! Listen up b*tches - NSV or not, I HAVE A LAP!!! Anyway, that's all... Go back to your... Whatever y'all are doing at this time of day/night... I'm going out for a LAP DANCE!!! -
One of the things that has happened to me with loosing weight is that I no longer just completely and utterly HATE myself. So the other day my dad was playing around with his phone and I noticed him holding it up like he was going to take a picture of me. So I just smiled and he took the picture. Then this happened: dad: "wow" me: "what?" dad: "you actually let me take your picture" and then it hit me. Before, if I ever saw someone pointing a camera/phone in my direction I would put my hands up or walk away or just say please don't take my picture. I couldn't stand someone taking a picture of me but now I didn't even think about it, just smiled for the camera

NSV and my boss
ProudGrammy replied to Pillar2butterfly's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@@Pillar2butterfly many times people misunderstand what a person might say to them a compliment is not always received in the good way it was intended ie "you look so much better than before" what does that mean, i used to look horrible?? peoples words are usually not said/meant in a bad way just clumsy your boss is aces!! we live for NSV's keep them coming kathy congrats -
Well, my higher boss hasn't really seen me in about a month. He saw me today and told me I need to stop losing weight because he has to squint now to see me. He said he was looking for me the other day and said he must have missed me because who he was looking for was someone that didn't even resemble who I am now. He said it's a good thing I talk a lot or he'd never know I was around. Ha! Because I know him so well, I took it as a compliment that he intended it to be.

How much weight should I lose post surgery
jane13 replied to Tmitch817's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
First of all, great start and welcome to the losers bench. Secondly, be prepared to stall periodically. Stay off the scale, I know its tempting, but it will cause you all kind of unnecessary angst. As far as keeping the husband (or anyone) posted on your actual weight...that's your call. IMHO, if its going to cause you to question that you are not LOSING ENOUGH then I would keep the numbers to yourself. We don't lose at the same pace. There are stalls, and times where nothing makes the numbers drop on the scale. Measure yourself now, you may lose inches (NSV) those are THE best losses: smaller jeans, better fitting bras, etc. You may lose 20lbs this month and 12 next month and 25 the following month - stalls happen. Good luck!
