Weight not going down

I don't think it's the pureed foods although I had the exact same eperience. It lasted for about 8 days for me. I didn't lose anything and poof!..It just started again. I think many people experience it and I think it's just your body catching up and going into "sarvation" mode. Don't stop eating! Just stay on the plan your doctor gave you and when your body is ready it'll start losing again. And try not to panic. I know...easier said than done I was freaking out when it happened to me. Everyone says it's the 3 week stall and it won't be the last one. Just part of the process we need to get used to.
2. So I keep hearing people mention the dreaded "3 week stall." I think I am there. I am only almost 2 weeks post-op, but I'm almost 4 weeks since I started my pre-op diet. Since my pre-op diet started and after surgery I had been consistently losing a lb a day (except when I gained weight from the iv and gas after surgery and quickly lost it plus more). The last few days I have not lost anything. Maybe I'm just being overly analytical, but it sure seems like I am slowing and stalling. My question is how long does the stall last? And does a big loss come after it? Is there anything I can do to jump start the process? Thanks for your help! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
3. I lost 30 lbs in the first 4 weeks after surgery. That would be 12.5% of my weight at the time; or 28% of the excess weight I want to lose. We are all so different, I'm not sure we can compare. I think you might want to factor in the very common stall that often starts between weeks 3 and 5. I have not lost 1 pound since July 1st; that's a 3 week stall so far. I need to increase my exercise...ugh! And if you're about my size maybe this info helps (I am 5'4" and more of a big-belly girl than a big-bottom girl: I went from a size 22/24 to an 18 already; some 16s fit, but a 14 is still too small.) As of today I've lost 5" in my waist. Yay!!
4. Hello, Well I think our bodies are really fighting for a good reason, I had my immunity going downward after excessive weightloss, and I started to get sick ALOT! virus here, eye infection, bacteria running my tongue and throat and other stuff. SO I asked multiple doctors about it and they confirmed that slow and steady is way better, WELL I didnt ask for fast pace it happened to all of us in the begining, now with stalling I HATE MYSELF! and I keep thinking the same negative things! but I rewind all what have been said by doctors and I feel better that my body is protecting me. Hold on this stall will pass, keep shaking things up, and be here!! DONT MISS IT HERE, it is an eye opener everytime! NO Matter what ur news is u dont need to write it just have the support u need by reading. I am sure ur weight will start dropping again and U WILL DEF. STALL AGAIN!! so lets always support each others, mentally and may be physcially as they are all connected:) PS: BTW I never had the 3 week stall, I had my 3 month later stall:) cheer up all xOX

The Plateau From Hell

I'm on a 3 week stall right now. I just keep at it and I know the weight will come off. It's hard at times because the negative thoughts come in and I keep thinking... I am only going to lose this much... or after all the money I spent I only lost 40lbs... or even what am I doing wrong... I know how the thought process goes... the weight will come off. Just be patient and don't drive yourself crazy

Dreaded 3 week stall!

My recommendation is not to focus on a 3 week stall because there will be more stalls. The weight won't fly out there somewhere. When the scale did not move my clothes were falling off. Focus on your plan, Protein, meals, exercise. Stalls are a waste of time and energy to worry about. They come and they go. Best wishes. Linda
7. I have reached the stall everyone talks about. It's so frustrating. I hope it passes soon. Any secrets anyone has to hurry it up would be greatly appreciated!!
8. Dang it....I've been there too and it stinks. The dreaded 3-week stall! I FREAKED OUT when I actually gained a pound during that time. Contacted the nutrionist at the surgeons office (because I was convinced I was going to be one of the people the sleeve surgery didn't work for.) Her exact words, "Relax. It is normal for weight to flucuate, especially after surgery. You do have restriction there. Just keep doing what you are doing and the weight will come off." She was right of course. Seems like when I have a stall or even gain, it's always right before I have a dramatic drop in weight. My weightloss has not been a smooth downward track, it looks more like steps...down then flat.....down then flat. You keep doing what you are doing and you will lose. May have a few more stalls along the way too. You are welcome to read my blog as I started at roughly the same weight but am only a few weeks ahead of you. http://hoosierfatty.wordpress.com/2013/03/04/three-week-stall-weight-and-diet/ Good luck!

Nearly three weeks post op

My surgery was June 10. I lost 22 lbs quickly. Now I am in 3 week stall. Frustrating, but hopeful. I started working out this week and I need to take my inches. I know that will help. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
11. Holy crap I'd be thrilled to have lost as much as you. I was sleeved 12/21, and post op I've lost about 17 pounds and I've been stalled here for about a week (guess that is the lovely 3 week stall) but hey, I'm 4 weeks now, so can we move on?

Where are my August Sleevers?

I'm still here. almost 9 weeks out. Was in a 3 week stall that finally broke over the weekend but still not happy with what little I have lost in two months. I am exercing like crazy too hoping for improvement!

Hope all the August sleevers are doing well!!
13. @mrsto I'm still doing very well, thank you. ☺ I go to see Dr. Ganta (my surgeon) this Wednesday for 6 week follow up. I did hit a 3 week stall that lasted 3 weeks, but am now starting to lose weight again. I'm told this is COMPLETELY normal, and have read several posts from people referring to the 3 week stall. I stopped weighing daily & weigh once a week now (as difficult as it is to do). Am just focusing on 64 oz. water, eating as directed, increase walking slowly but at least 5 days a week. The 2 days I don't get out, I do careful exercise inside such as Tai Chi, and added arm exercises of 3 lb. wts. Keep me posted on your journey, it'll all work out. We went through the whole process of trying different saline amts. prior to my Lapband revision with Gastric bypass, and I wish I had known it was what contributed to my severe reflux (GERD) - but am SO thankful it resolved immediately after! God bless you!

Weight loss stopped!

Your "3 week stall" has started early. Congrats Just hang in there. That was my LONGEST stall ever and lasted 20 days. I thought I was going to go nuts. It's totally normal. I stall now a lot too and stair step lose. Hang in there and don't do anything crazy. Stick to your plan, the weight WILL come off. Promise. My normal now is to lose a few pounds, stall, gain a pound or two, stall, lose that gain and lose some more, stall... It's just normal now.

Early Stall?

The process that initiates the 3 week stall will start when you start a calorie restrictive diet. So if you had a very restrictive preop diet, that started the process of burning your glycogen stores. As for the "3 weeks"....it could be give or take a week or 2. It's not the same for everyone. You may have burned through your glycogen stores faster than other people and now your body is refilling those stores, which is what causes the stall.

Less activity

I'm 62 and just 3 weeks post op. I started my pre op diet at 502#s and Im aleady down to 432# - 70#s in just 5 weeks. I'm worried about the dreaded 3 week stall but excited to see what its like by 6 months. No real pain or discomfort ever. Came home the day after surgery but really felt like I could have come home the same day. Never used pain meds. Planned it around a holiday and went back to work (desk job) on day 4. Off insulin and blood pressure meds since the surgery. Good luck everybody!
17. Any advice or well wishes. I am totally frustrated and I feel like I want to cry. Had surgery 2/28 and only down 27 lbs. What gives??? I've heard of the 3 week stall - but how long does that last? Is it you stall at 3 weeks or for 3 weeks you will stall? I've been the same weight now for almost 12 days. I don't want to feel like I did this in vain. I'm going into my 5th week post op. Nothing no budge no movement it's so heartbreaking to think this is it! Thanks any help or advice.

Stalls:(

Read the link in my sig. It gives a good explanation of why we stall. The 3 week stall is very common and not much you can or should do about it. Just be calm and patient and it will break on its own very soon.

plz help

Hi there! Congratulation on getting through surgery. You are likely in the midst of the 3 week stall which is very common. It would be helpful to know your current diet, Water intake and Protein intake. Are you getting a minimum of 64 oz. of fluids every day? That is the number 1 most important factor post surgery following by ensuring you are getting the appropriate protein. You should have 1 gram for every inch you are tall. If you are hitting both of those goals every day and sticking to a well balanced high protein lower carb (veggies & Fruit) you will lose weight. It is nearly impossible not to. Most people do not understand the importance of water and protein until they get stuck and then they start hitting those goals and the weight comes off. Best of luck to you.
20. I am 29 years old, 5'6....sleeved July 22, 2014 weighing 216 pounds (Was 230 before pre-op diet) and today (Just shy of 3 weeks out) I weigh 201 pounds. I have hit the dreaded 3 week stall, but I notice myself getting ketosis mouth, so hopefully its about to start again.
21. It's called the 3 week stall. Don't worry, it happens to most of us. Your weight will start dropping again, just stay on track with your calories and fluid.
22. Well, I was sleeved 9/5 all in all its been fine physically. Mentally its been tough. I've been at the dreaded 3 week stall but last night I got out of the shower and was able to wrap the towel around myself and it closed. I also didn't have to use my clothes to cover my butt. The towel doubled over. Yippee for me. I did get on the scale and I'm still only down 22lbs but I know now about those inches. It's true pre sleevers the inches do come off without the lbs. I didn't believe it but I'm still the same weight as last week but the towel didn't fit then.

3 weeks post-op, no weight loss for 2 weeks.

Thank you for replying! I have also read about the infamous "3-week stall". The only thing is, I haven't lost anything at 2 weeks post-op in addition to week 3 : / Best of luck on your upcoming surgery!!!

Stalled after 1.5 weeks?

Typically, at about 3 weeks post-op you'll have a stall in weight loss, could last a week or a few weeks. It breaks eventually, but it's very disheartening. If you do a search on the forum for "3 week stall" you will find a lot of posts and information.
25. So after I lost all the water weight from surgery, I lost 10lbs- all by week 1.5. Now? Nothing. I'm just past my 2 week mark now. Did I get the infamous 3 week stall early? Also sick of feeling kinda crappy multiple times per day. And who has time to eat 8x per day?? And do they really expect it to take 1/2 hour + to eat 2oz of food?? Very frustrated.
