Hi, Aliese - Two things: Search for "3 week stall" or even just "stall" and you will find literally hundreds of posts discussing the lack of weight loss somewhere around the 2nd-4th week. It happens a lot. It is just your body taking a rest and adjusting. If you took measurements before your surgery and take some now, you'll probably see that the inches are still coming off even if the scale isn't dropping. If you stick with the plan, the weight will start coming off again soon. With regard to the yogurt - I know you're not a fan, so it may not matter, but don't write it off just because it didn't do so well now. A lot of people find that certain foods don't sit so well right away, but if they come back to them a few weeks or months later, all of a sudden they're fine with that food now. I'm mostly telling you this so if it happens to you with a food you really WANT to introduce back into your diet, you won't get discouraged from it too quickly Good luck!

if I read about another stall Imma pull my hair out!
jenlen replied to allthatjazz4u's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
As repetitive and annoying as it may be to read the same question over and over again I must admit that it was that dreaded 3 week stall that made me seek out more information and brought me onto this site. While my Dr did tell me that stalls were inevitable I did not expect it to happen so soon and all the while my calorie intake was 250-350 daily. I subconsciously believed that my body was somehow broken to begin with as I have never responded well to changes in diet and increases in exercise. I was terrified that I would be the one and only person that would go through this surgery and STILL not lose weight and regain mobility. I can not tell you what a source of comfort it was for me at the time to see so many people posing the exact questions that were plaguing me. And even more comforting were the responses from the Veterans telling us newbies "hey, I have been there, it can last a few weeks, but trust me it will get better." ... and it has -
I was ready for the 3 week stall...but I won't be 3 weeks until the 8th and I have not seen the scale move in 10days!! my cycle is almost over but good lord no change in 10 of my 18days!?!? How do I break the stall? I even mowed my 1 acre lot yesterday and bam nothing still!! This is giving me second thoughts about the whole thing if nothing else!

Anyone with PCOS?
mandyrenee82 replied to nataliesunshine's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I was sleeved 4/16 and have had two periods since. The first one was brutal because I hadn't had one in 2 years. Dr put me on birth control and the second one wasn't so bad and not heavy like the other. Thank God! Pcos sucks. Weight gain, excess body hair, thinning hair and possible infertility sucks. And no one knows anything about it unless they have it. No one else understands either. My weight loss has been pretty good. Had about a 3 week stall but seems fine now. Surgery weight was 284 and now I'm 210. Hopefully these pcos symptoms go away. Hubby and I want a baby. That was the main reason for surgery. I'm 30 will be 31 in August. My clock is ticking really fast!! The 18 month wait is gonna be the hardest! -
Weightloss stall.. :(
joatsaint replied to rachcarney78's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Stalls are a normal part of the process. It's just your body getting used to the weight loss and reduced calories. I just got past a 3 week stall as of today. But for the past 3 months, I've had at least 1 two week stall per month. And I'll freak out, thinking, "Is this it? Is my weight loss over?" But I keep on working my diet and exercise program and the weight loss starts again. -
First and foremost, I am so thankful that I was able to have the VSG procedure. Secondly I have had a very good recovery period (few little issues but nothing major). Third, I have great spousal support and family/friend support. (Please know I am not bragging just giving background information. I have lost 36 pounds total (24 since surgery 5/29/13 and 12 pre-op liquid diet). Here is my issue: I feel like I have stalled with my weightloss. I have read an article about the 3 week stall. I will be 5 weeks Wednesday. Wondering if my stall is now? I have just recently (last week - returned to my gym (healthplex through my local hospital) had great session talking with staff and setting up my routine). I will be starting back full time this week. I am following my WL Clinics guidelines in regards to diet - getting in my Protein (on the lower end 60 grams) and Water (on the lower end 64 oz - sometimes little under) What can I do to start seeing a loss again? Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Note - I weigh once a week on Tuesday's and occassionly on Monday morning to see if I am on track for Tuesday's official weigh in (that is day I record and measure and yes I have had inches lost). Am I just being impatient because I am so excited about the weight loss I have seen thus far? Thanks in advance for reading and letting me vent/whine. I know this is a hard journey!!!

Did you hit a the typical stall around week 3 or 4? I promised myself I wouldn't complain about the 3 week stall but I'd love to see the scale move again. Just wondering how long it lasted if you did encounter it. -
Sounds like the dreaded 3 week stall people talk about here. I've been dealing with stalls almost every week since my two-week preop diet. Everyone seems to have a different way to break them. This might be useful: Weight Loss Stall or Plateau Explained

I'm very discouraged right now because I'm at the 3 week stall. I work with 2 girls who also had the surgery. One INSISTS she lost almost 20 lbs a week for her first 2 months ( which we all know isn't true), but my other coworkers believe her so they think I'm already doing something wrong and I'm not! Ugh... -
Surgery jan 17, down a total of 130lbs. Currently on a 3 week stall but who cares, I'm only 35 lbs from goal.

JUNE 10, 2013, MY BEGINNING
UK Cathy replied to sherisleeve's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You are going through the dreaded 3 week stall, do not worry it happens to most people. Everyone gets over it and goes on to lose more weight. One your journey you might have a few stalls, for some people they last days and for others weeks! They are frustrating but have patience and perseverance and you will be fine. -
I'm 13-days post op. I lost 19-pounds during the 2-week prep liquid diet. In the first 10-days I dropped 16-pounds putting me below 300 for the first time in a year. Then, after I shared my news, I was back up to 301. I weighed today and I'm at 300. I don't eat the fruit or the shake, but I do drink Isopure No Carb 40 every day. I'm a little bummed to, but I keep hearing about the 3-week stall. All I know for sure is that everyone on the sleeve loses weight if they stay away from the junk that got us here in the first place. We can't fail. It's physically impossible. Our bodies do have to get used to the "new normal," so try to hang in there and trust the doctor and all those who have successfully gone before us. Sounds like you've lost and kept off over 30-pounds! Congratulations! Let's support each other in what we have lost and how great that feels!

May sleevers! How much have you lost so far?
MystiGal replied to mrsplusamericajacksonville's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I am super frustrated! I have been gaining and losing the same 3 pounds for over 2 weeks! This week will make 3 weeks, so I am hoping to see a drop by the end of the week. I guess this is the 3 week stall everyone talks about - I say it is BS!!! UGH!!!!! Going to try something different this week and go back to having 2 protein shakes a day and a light dinner. Also going to try and up my fluid intake, even though I don't see how that is possible since I am drinking water every second of the day! GRRRRRRRRRRRR -
Yay!! The scale finally moved. 3 week stall over and down another 2lbs. That's 34 down from my highest weight of 211.

i too was irritated that i saw the pa's postop. however you can request to see the dr too and not the pa's. but i have learned if you go to the hoffman estates office and they are running behind even though you are scheduled to see the dr they will send in the pa to keep things "moving"...i saw the asian pa twice (i forget her name) and then another one with curly brown hair once when i was supposed to see rantis. but rantis did make an appearance at the end of the appointment to see me. as far as your incision, did you have single site in the belly button? i didn't have problems during the healing phase but now that my stomach is frumping over from weight loss it gets infected quite frequently. and maybe irritated is a better word than infected. i have learned its from the moisture and the inside of my button not drying out. i stick a cotton ball in there for about an hour after a bath/shower to dry out the Water that may be left behind. it helps. i have also used a q-tip with a little alcohol on it to help dry out the water. but again this was after mine was healed. i have a very deep innie . hope it clears up for you!!! and its completely normal to hit a stall around 3/4 weeks. if you do a search on the dreaded 3 week stall a lot of posts will come up about it. just follow the plan and i promise you it will start again. make sure you are getting your water in. i learned water is truly the secret to flushing out your system. i think between the rapid loss with the 2 week liquid and the rapid loss those first couple weeks, your loss definitely trails off for a week or 2 around 3 or 4 weeks. i think our bodies are like "what is happening". and they take a couple week hiatus to figure it out and catch up. that is my crazy thought anyways. feel free to pm me if you have any questions!!!! -
10 days post-op--shouldn't I be dropping pounds everyday?
Ms skinniness replied to Paradise Mom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This is typical for everyone. You will lose the weight in due time. There is something called the 3 week stall and that's the time your body is most likely adjusting in inches and restoring glycogen in the body. Everyone has a different rate of losing his/her weight and most will meet the goal weight lost with time. This is the time to sit back and enjoy the ride. Start noticing times when your getting trigger to eat foods and what the underlying emotions are to are causing the triggers. This is a roller coast ride. Overall, you are doing great! Keep it up.... -
Be patient...this works! Everyone appears to go through the 3 week stall. I stalled then for almost 2 weeks...I was SO pissed! Then I stalled again around 3 months...but miraculously I dropped a whole pants size that time. I haven't been losing super fast, but I've lost almost as much as my husband, who had bypass nearly 3 months before I had my sleeve done. My doctor always says...this is a marathon - not a sprint.

sleeved 6/17 why am I not losing WTF
TES replied to freakinfitfoodie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My 3-week stall (which lots of people get) started at 2 weeks also! -
I have to say something on here about the (cheaters). You are only cheating yourselves. First off while you are on liquids it is the time you will lose the most pounds right after the surgery. Please take advantage of this time. Second when you start eating mushies it most likely will be bad carbs that you will be consuming( mashed potatos, cream soups and so on) abd that is going to stop the ketosis state that you were in and thats when the 3 week stall happens. Im not a dr or nurse or anything. I just put 2 and 2 together and it makes alot of sence.

FEBRUARY SLEEVERS 2013....how you doing after you've been Sleeved
Susie1226 replied to DivaNurse's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Sleeved on 2/19. Finally broke a 3 week stall. Hit 215 today. Starting weight 261. Surgery weight 251. Current weight 215. Want to be under 200 for my 6 month post op in August. -
First of all, the depression is TOTALLY normal right now - your hormones are still all out-of-whack from the surgery and you are adjusting to a radically different lifestyle. Second of all, just work your plan and keep track of everything you eat - as long as you are doing all the right things, you are just in the 3 week stall - it will eventually end and the weight will start coming off again! It happens to everyone at some point in their sleeve journey - keep the faith!
