I dare U 2 beat my NSV... I rode the bull!!!

Being at The Cowgirls, Inc. in Seattle with a bunch of drunken ironworkers rates pretty high in my book. Sounds like an NSV to me!

    NSV - Fun

These are the fun NSVs! One day at about 6 months post op I noticed I was sitting on the bed with my legs crossed Indian style! I hadn't done that since the birth of my youngest son! He is 34 years old! Last week I had another one! Both hubby and I are morbidly obese. Now I am normal, he is still morbidly obese at 285lbs and 5'10". I used to be heavier than him at 310, same height. Anyway we went out to dinner with my son and granddaughter. They are both normal size. We got a booth, I slid in and told hubby to sit next to me. Normally we sir across from one another. I am so small that he fit in with me and we still had a lot of room! We used to have one kid next to each of us! He was in awe when he saw how much room between me and him and me and the table. He looked at me and said you are so tiny I can hardly believe it! I just looked at him and grinned like a Cheshire Cat. He got the good boy award for the day, making me feel so good!

    Go, go, go!

Just got my flu shot, so I'm ready for Fall! Last night I had a few moments of thought about my journery. I'm in my "small" range. I'm within 10-15 pounds of my lowest weights as an adult. I wondered briefly if this could be it for me. I mean, I look pretty great! I've gotten into almost every "skinny" piece of clothing I have. What can I really expect? And then I started looking at some pictures. My SIL was finally able to send me pics from my 5K. As I was looking at them, I realized that if I can do THAT...I can do MORE! It might take 3 years, but who cares? I'm loving my life right now and I'm going at a pace that I can continue for as long as I need. Sometimes, I guess I just need to remind myself. Speaking of my 5K pictures, I have attached a few. As I mentioned before, my SIL was absolutely awesome! I'm truly not sure I could have done it without her. Today I'm committing to running 2 miles at lunch and Jazzercising for an hour tonight. Fun NSV: I was able to wear a dress today that I have had for YEARS, but it hasn't fit. It looks really nice and I've gotten several compliments!! Have a wonderful day!!
  6. Welcome to the forum, it is a great way to learn and get support even for the NSV's God Bless Lassie

    First nsv!

It finally happened to me. I'm down 35 pounds since surgery (jan 22). Today I tried on 2 pairs of my old jeans (size 14) and they fit. Woohoo. Seriously love the feeling of not being afraid to get dressed and see myself in the mirror. And not only that it gives me such motivation to continue this journey and get to my goal of 150. I have 47.5 and half pounds to go and I know I can do it!
  8. i was so disgusted with myself with my preop weight loss. i was supposed to lose 5% of my wt. so i started as i was directed a carb free diet almost 4 mos pre op. i lost a grand total of 12lbs. it was the hardest wt. loss i ever faced. i kept yelling at myself that if i could diet and lose wt. i wouldn't need the wls. i must of did pretty well liver wise because most of my hardware is on the right side. and the abd. ultra sound i just had showed no abnormalities with any of my organs. i suppose that would be a nsv. good luck and best wishes as you go forward. and everyone is correct, do not judge yourself on what other ppl do. eat healthy, exercise and you can't ask more of yourself.
  9. Save a few things... but just so you can look at them later and see just how much you've lost. Congrats on such a great NSV!!

    Group!

I love my LapBand support group! We had our monthly meeting last night. I have made good friends with two of the ladies in the group. I email back and forth with one (Ann) most days. We are accountability partners and share tons of information and experiences. The other (Debi) and I text each other to share SVs and NSVs. We also do things together, like tomorrow night we are going to see Dreamgirls. These two friendships alone make Group worthwhile, but it is even much more than that. Hearing the questions and experiences of so many other people is invaluable to me. My friends and family are SOOO supportive, but no matter what happens, they can't understand it completely because they haven't done it. Our group has a lot of newly banded people, a few waiting to be banded and a few old timers. It is amazing to hear their words of wisdom! Group night also means updated photos for me. I put all of the new ones in my albums, but this angle was particularly great for me. I have attached the "before" picture and then last night's "current" picture. What a difference!!

    I'm back!

I missed you all while I was on vacation! I had a wonderful time. We left at lunchtime on Thursday. The drive to my friend's small town Louisiana home is about 6 hours, so we made it in time for dinner. Her brother and his family met us at her parents' house and we all had some EXCELLENT smothered chicken. I was a little concerned about the rice since I have had some trouble with it, but with the Cajun gravy, it all went down fine. Friday we went to New Orleans. I couldn't resist cafe au lait and beignets at Cafe du Monde, but I limited myself to one. I still don't understand why I can't eat bread, but the fried doughs, cakes and such all go down fine. Ha! We spent some time walking around the French Quarter. I was looking to buy a painting, but I didn't find anything that particularly caught my attention. We went to lunch at 1179 which is an Italian restaurant closer to the WWII museum. It was on the expensive side for lunch, but it was very good. After lunch we went to the WWII museum and I have to say that it exceeded every expectation. The movie is a MUST SEE. If you are ever in NOLA, you should visit and if you are a hard core war buff, you should make the trip. We left around 5 and made it back home in time for my friend's dad's Cajun Shrimp Stew. Oh my God. It was unbelievably delicious. If I haven't mentioned it yet, my friend's dad is an incredible Cajun cook. I was worried that I wouldn't be able to eat his food, but I could...just in moderation like a "normal" person. Saturday we spent with my friend's brother's family. He has two little girls that are both adorable and exhausting! We went to a 4th of July celebration and watched fireworks. On Sunday, my friend's extended family gathered at her parents' house for a potluck lunch. Heavenly!! Her dad BBQ'd Boston butt (hee, I'm 12) and there was macaroni and cheese, eggplant/rice dressing, carrot casserole (which tasted like the best sweet potato casserole ever!) and baked beans. I had a little of everything and I was satisfied with one trip. I did have a couple pieces of PB fudge for dessert. :frown: Monday was our annual casino trip. I was down almost $100 bucks in 3 hours!! Yikes!!! But I made an incredible comeback in the last 45 minutes and made it out only down $40. Whew! We came back to town yesterday. We are working today and tomorrow, then leaving for Wichita Friday. We are going to see the Mens USA Volleyball team compete in World Cup pool play. We are big fans! I'm happy to say that while I was on vacation, with NO exercise whatsoever, I'm down almost a pound. Woo hoo! I plan to jog during lunch today and go to Jazzercise tomorrow night. That's about all I'm going to get this week. But I figured it will at least keep me a little more prepared when I get back to normal next week. A fun NSV: neither my friend nor I usually fit into "normal" size bracelets. They are usually too big for her and too small for me. She got one from her aunt for Christmas and she gave it to me because it was too big for her. It didn't fit me, but I held on to it. I'm wearing it today. YAY!!
  12. I stalled on this last week but I'm one month post-op today, and 30 pounds down, including the 2 week pre-op diet. Here are pics taken the night before the pre-op diet and some taken today. The night before my 2 week pre-op diet @282 Today, 1 month post-op @ 251 NSV: I left work before surgery wearing 3X scrub set, returned after 3 weeks wearing a 2X set with room.

    Notorious November NSV!

I was looking through my closet tonight, looking for old clothes that I knew didn't fit me so I could make them "goal" clothes in the months to come. Well, I found a shirt I was SURE would not fit.... size 16, and you know, it didn't really fit like it is supposed to.. BUT I could button one button... and when I looked in the mirror it made my boobs look FABULOUS! haha I just shimmied a little for myself and put it back in my closet..... saving it for a much BETTER nsv in a few months... when I can actually wear it outside of my room and don't look like a hoochie!
  14. i was walking in the parking lot yesterday and this lady stopped me and said."i really love your outfit..too bad they dont make that in big girl sizes"! OMG!!! i was elated to think a perfect stranger doesnt consider me a "big girl"! BEST NSV YET!!!!

    Got called fat...an NSV

Susan - thanks for the info - NSV - thats cool! I am soooooooo impatient - good grief I had to keep myself from calling the doctors office today to see if they got any info from my insurance. I noticed everyone is different in the order of how things are taken care of. I had to have all my tests done before they submitted anything to the insurance and haven't gotten a surgery date yet and then I read where others have their band date and haven't even had the pysch eval yet - I guess its all in where you live or is it the doctor? I'm just hoping that when I do get the call that my insurance has ok'd the band that they will say can you come in tomorrow.. LOL ... ok so next week. And then I'll say ... YOU BETCHA!!!

    My Face Is Broken!

Yep. Further, at 9 months post-op, I renewed my passport early (2 years before it was set to expire) because it was getting annoying/stressful having to explain that i was in fact me at airports. Im 3+ yrs post op now and a few months ago, I renewed my driver’s license and its nice to not have to explain my appearance to the people at the liquor store when I get carded. Though getting carded at all is an NSV in itself cuz im like 50 years old. Lol. Congrats, and enjoy the broken face!

    Summer Weightloss Challenge

Well, my NSV has to do with my hording. I gave 2.5 big black lawn & leaf bags of clothes to the help house. I was going to bring them to the bash, but I felt that they were more needed here. I was able to let them go without much stress.

    Summer Weightloss Challenge

Come on ya'll! The water's fine in Onederland! Well done! Okay, I need to post a couple of NSV's. I think this is my first official NSV post, although I suppose I have been having them fairly regularly...compliments from people, etc etc My shoes are too big. My feet just don't fill them up anymore. My slippers slide off or I sling them off as I walk around in them at home, and my dressier slides are way big, my feet are just swimming in them! Huh. AND my pants are dragging. I guess I just have less butt to keep them pulled up off the ground? My clothing choices these past years have been sloppily big, I'll admit, and so these pants are now under the heels of my too big shoes. They get wet at the hem if it's rainy outside. And not just from splashing, I'm walking on the backs of these things! Wowza! Of all the NSV's to catch my attention...I'm a bit more dumbfounded than excited, but still happy!!

    NSV's!

On Valentine's Day my hubby and I took our boys to their favorite pizza place. Of course I was nervous about the temptations it would pose for me, but I decided to face them head on. The hostess walked us over to a BOOTH- my worst nightmare. I hesitated for a second or 2 staring at what seemed like a tight space. I nervously glanced at my husband who quickly gave me a nod of encouragement. So... I went for it and slid into the booth. YES, I said SLID! I ended up sitting between BOTH of my boys COMFORTABLY! It felt so awesome that I didn't give a second thought to eating what they were eating. I was absolutely fine with just a few bites of salad and a meatball while the guys ate bread, pizza, etcetera.
