Thanks guys I have went through my food logs and sadly my protein has been under my requirements as my water. I always worried about being dehydrated but my( and sorry if TMI) urine is not dark or odorous could I still be dehydrated? And if so will that affect my weight loss.

Newbie looking for Oct sleevers!
KarenF1972 replied to Marielbx's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hey everyone, it's a "does anyone else have this" post: I've noticed just over the last hour or so that I am getting a moderate pain in my left abdomen, about midway between my belly button and my side. (This side has been more sore because that's where they pulled my stomach out.) I get just a little jolt of pain and then it goes away. Of course (TMI) I haven't had a bowel movement of any kind in the last couple days so I'm thinking it may be that??? Thanks! -
TMI - bowel prep questions...
Quest4TheNewMe posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Just had my pre-op appt today and we were talking about the bowel prep. My surgery is on 11/13, so I'm supposed to drink the bowel prep stuff the morning of the 11th. It sounds like I should probably try to make arrangements to work from home on the 11th, but what about the 12th? I have no idea what to expect in regards to this, as I've never done a bowel prep before... -
@@Sydney Little Merle the I have also been struggling to get all my protein in and have been down right HUNGRY! I was sleeved on the 23rd. It has been a rough road. I gave thought many times about testing my sleeve and trying to eat food. I haven't though and once I started passing gas (TO I I KNOW) and bowels moving. (Again TMI) I started feeling better, also moving more helps. But am still hungry! I am still very swollen as well. I actually weigh more now than the day of surgery. Only 5 lbs more, but still more. Hopefully this part will be over soon and we can move forward to happier, less hungry place. We can do this!!

Anyones spouse having a hard time?
kenb79 replied to kenb79's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Thank you to everyone for there responses. She has been supportive. Like Jersrose43 mentioned, she is just frustrated. I like the suggestions of soups and in a couple weeks, once I can actually have soup without straining it, our choices will be better. Regarding drinking, I was the DD before and will be now too. Even one drink always gave me the biggest headache. Last night she came home from work and we went and saw the equalizer. Kiss ass movie BTW. Great night up to the point where i had to tell her no to sex (sorry, tmi) yesterday was not a good day regarding Water consumption and Protein intake and I felt like shit for it. V/r, Ken -
For TMI purposes if your urine looks like this. Tell your doctor. mine was almost brown.

when did you poop for the first time
built2livenotexist replied to 10/6/14's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm always game for a round of TMI:) I was sleeved on 10/22 and started off having liquid bm right off the bat but had my first semi-solid today and I gotta say it didn't feel great, but it wasn't intolerable. I had no narcotics except for the 1st 24 hrs of recovery which may be a factor for me. Also, I'm on clear liquids only; which does not include the protein shakes which is another factor. -
Gastric emptying study on Monday, then when I get home I will have a fun-filled afternoon on the toilet after taking magnesium citrate to clean me out. TMI? LOL
-
YAY!!!! Me too!!! I am not looking forward to this!! I bought the grape flavored magnesium citrate......hope it at least tastes decent so i can chug it down and not gag and barf it back up!! Good Luck!!!
-
@packerfan I got the grape also. I am told it's best to mix it with something so I'm going to mix it with a grape flavored Powerade. @UnRuLy why was it the worst?

I am 6 days post-op. This morning I had my first bowel movement and since then haven't been off the toilet. Every sip I take is coming right back out. I'm scared of getting dehydrated! It's hard enough to get enough liquids without the constant diarrhea. Please help!

The gas is the worst! It is different for everyone like everything in this process. TMI but I didn't pass gas for about 36 hours despite all my walking (I was pretty convinced they used extra gas on me it hurt so bad!) the nurse told me it can take up to 3 days to pas gas and I was in so much pain at that time that I cried because the pain meds didn't do much for the gas! I have never been more elated about a burp/fart, but to be quite honest I still had gas pain in my chest, shoulders and back here and there until day 5. I'm on day 7 now so there is no saying I won't get more, but I'm feeling pretty good today. The only thing I know to do is walk as much as you can tolerate, the nurse also gave me an antacid on day 2 which she said would help and then day 4 I bought gas x strips-- but for me it seemed to make it worse... Like it mobilized the gas or something so I haven't tried it since then.

ATTENTION EVERYONE I care about all of you, so sorry if this is TMI, but I want to make sure we are all doing well ... Is everyone peeing and having bowel movements ? Your pee should be light yellow to clear, bowel movements every couple of days if not every day, and may be thin because of our liquid diets. Just keeping it really and making sure everyone is healthy ! -
Stomach rolling and diarrhea (TMI I know)
Iowa_summergirl posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was sleeved on Oct 14, and have had a relatively routine course. I could feel when I was getting full and if I drank too much at one time, I could feel that little bubble when things finally went through to the pouch. Today however, my stomach and bowels are absolutely rolling. I can hear all of my bowel sounds out loud and they are constant. I have been in the bathroom many many times and most of the time it is pure liquid. I feel like all the Water that I put in me is coming out 15 minutes later. My stomach isn't tender. I feel ok, just tired (but I didn't sleep much last night). Thoughts? Just a weird day? Should I be worried? That nasty complication "leak" just comes to mind... -
When you can't even be honest with yourself

I applaud your TMI about personal hygiene. I am so happy that I am not alone. I think it is a personal decision to tell our not, but I agree that if people are beginning to look up to you and how quickly or easily you are losing weight is different. Knowing how much I have struggled through the years I can imagine how defeating it would be to watch someone losing so much weight with just "diet and exercise" when I'm trying to same thing with little result. I would feel like even more of a failure. Not knowing they have a secret tool helping them that I could never match on my own would be giving me a false expectation. Not that anyone is trying to hurt others by keeping it a secret, but think of how many people you could help instead. Would you have appreciated someone sharing their story with you during your struggles? Your story may not help them but it may help one of their family members. It also helps to remove the stigma about obesity. Now they may think they were right all along in thinking we are just lazy and some good old diet and execute would solve all of our weight issues. You may be able to help them understand that it's ok to get help. -
I am always open, even if the problem is of a more personal nature like urinary incontinence. I believe in demystifying and taking the fear out of things that people see as too personal to share, if I think it will help another. I actually got a woman convinced to have WLS when I tearfully shared with her how happy I was when I could finally wipe myself clean after using the bathroom, thanks to the weight I had lost. I had no clue she was dealing with the same issue. TMI? In my opinion there is no such thing if what you are sharing is for the benefit and education of others. Our voices have been self-stifled for way too long. Had we been more vocal, perhaps insurance companies would have been more receptive to paying for the surgeries that many of us had to finance in order to save our own lives. On another note, I think is is kind of crappy that someone I know who has lost 170 pounds has people convinced she is some kind of amazing because she only attributes her transformation to diet and mega exercise. She's even started health forums and has quite a following. The truth? Gastric bypass 11 years ago. Will I call her out on it? No. She told me in confidence (after I saw her scars by accident) and it's not in my nature to be cruel. It makes me angry and I've lost respect for her because she could be giving hope to so many who will never lose and be healthy any other way than by WLS. But, we all can only be who we are, I guess.

Calling all October Sleevers
kelew39 replied to sleevechic8's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was sleeved on 10/6. I have bad reflux and I can feel it when I eat or not. It's all the time. I can swallow meds ok though. I love really cold sugar free koolaid. It has to come from the freezer with ice in it. Room temp is gross. Shakes are ok but since I'm in soft foods, I am doing a lot of chicken. The canned kind is great. I sip a lot but I want to guzzle. I think I'm dehydrated and constipated. TMI. Other than that, I'm ok. Was down 25 lbs from my last visit on Sept 18. -
So....I have found myself severely constipated.....ended up this morning in the ER, they were not much help. I took an enema this morning, it did nothing, went to er the give me a soap and Water enema, nothing but liquid......I can feel there is stuff in there that needs to come out, my legs are weak from the pain. The hospital gave m a shot of Valium to calm me, but that didn't so much either. I stopped at the store and bought prune juice, heated it up and put Mirlax in it.....so far nothing.....I'm afraid I'm going to end up back in the ER.....any suggestions?

Evening friends! So my bowel prep was less eventful than I imagined it would be. When I did it back in 2008, seems like I went a lot more. The only thing I can think of is that since I was already using that Mag. 07 product, which kept me very regular and very soft (TMI) bm's. THis morning I had to go to the hospital and get labs done again. Then my honey and I went to Sam's Club to stock up on some stuff. Unfortunately we went right when they were giving away lots of food samples! OIY!! That was hard! Then I told my honey he should get something for lunch, so we went to Jimmy John's. I brought my thermos of broth in and he ate a big sub! Yep, that was hard too. But guess life will be full of tests, so a good challenge for me. I had to take 2 different antibiotics at 2:00, 3:00 and then one more dose tonight at 10PM. The one says "Take with food." Nice...oh my goodness, made me SO sick to my stomach. Finally tried some broth at 5:30, that helped a little bit. Also got things "moving" some more. TMI WARNING----for those that did the bowel prep, did the color change to crazy color? Mine before I ate broth today, was a dark green almost black color. So gross!!!

Girl!? You drank 4 freaking bottles of that crap??? I drank the 1 today and about vomited it all up. Ugh...it burned my throat going in, and we all know what it's burning coming back out! TMI ALERT........I haven't gone nearly as much as I thought I would be?! Will it keep going on for hours? It's been 4 1/2 hours since I took it and I've gone like 4-5 times. I thought it would be worse than this. Hmmmm.

my doctor told me to take milk of magnesia. I couldn't pass gas after surgery at all. That help now I've switch to (TMI MOMENT) explosive diarrhea.

@@Beni so you know! I didn't want to go to the er! I suffered recovering from my c section and that horrible pain. Those percs messed me up like I felt it in my gut and going down I was miserable, like how do you feel like pooping but its just stuck there? My god, I think I took more than 15 laxatives. When it came out, there was a force I felt it all come out, I even screamed I didn't know that could be possible, idk how my intestines didn't pop. Geez I even took pictures because I would of made the book of world records! Idk how it came out it was like a basketball. I hope I poop soon because I really am scared of going through that again. Okay I'm done with the tmi, sorry guys.
-
@@Beni you can take them, I'm taking 2 percs, zinc, calcium, multivitamin, stool softener, and iron and prisolec, the iron at a different time though. I think you will be fine. I break it into different times. I take the percs and zinc with prisolec, then 4 hours later I take the multi with calcium and percs, then at night iron, stool softerner and percs. They fit lol, its the water to get them down that fills you up. Talking about stool softener, TMI WARNING*************** when will I poop? It has been like 6 days. When I had my c-section I didn't poop for 14 days!! It was hard and stuck inside of me, I had to take 15 laxatives over a 3 day period and then it was like hell getting that devil out, it was like 15 lbs tmi I'm sorry and then it wouldn't flush, I had a poop that was bigger and harder than the hole itself, I would of died I think if I didn't get it out, my doctor said I should of let the nurse take it out, they break it up inside of you or something because you can't deliver it, it was the worst thing in life, but when it came out I felt pure relief, like I never felt that in my life. My poop was literally stuck in my tunnel just trapped. I put on gloves and used vaseline and dug up in there and felt it, it was a rock. I'm sorry guys it was the worst thing next to the csection, I don't ever want that to happen to me again.

I switched off from Water and broth, day 4, could have Protein Drinks and such. As soon as I had 2 oz of Protein, the gas started flowing out the right end, no more burps. I have felt much better since then. Powerade Zero is also a big help. Now today I am going to work towards some liquid/protein goals. This is gonna be much tougher than I thought, as far as getting the liquids and Proteins in. Also, doc gave me antibiotics for part of bowel prep, through the IV in the hospital and sent me home with some antibiotic horse pills to grind up and ruin some drink. Guess what I have now, a yeast infection. like I needed that. Sorry for tmi, but just so others are warned. Have something on hand for yeast infection, I dont and have to wait for someone to go to store.

I everyone, I have not dropped of the face of the the earth. Just have been super busy volunteering at the Hospital Ladies Board yearly Rummage sale. It is a huge deal and 100,000s of dollars are raised. We expect 20,000 from my department alone. We have the designer goods and my on my I am exhausted every night. Today was ruff I had a Premier vanilla shake for lunch and it did not agree with me. Guess who had to use a port a potty 5 times. Fortunately only volunteers had used it and it was very clean but still, yuck. There's like 20 potties I had to play guess what's behind the door for a good one. I wish I could have gone home but I wouldn't have made it. Sorry for the TMI but has anyone had this issue with these shakes. I am now worried sick I picked up a stomach virus. What if I don't get better fast enough and my surgery is cancelled. Jeez, why is this happening? Last week I went to Cheesecake Factory (last meal befor 2 week diet) and had something that caused some of the worst heartburn I have had in years. Had to call the doctor who placed me pronto on Protonix ( a stronger Prilosec like med). Is there a black cloud over me? After tomorrow, I am only going out of the house for the absolute essential stuff. HIBERNATION

What am I missing?
LeanerLena5426 replied to roundisashape's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You sound like you are very well-prepared, and I think that's awesome! Couple of additional things to consider, based on my experience--which was NOTHING like @@Cody's mom, my recovery was horrendous! I was in agony for weeks, and it was months before I was fully mobile. And I have a high tolerance for pain, so it's not just that I'm a wimp! If you're going to be alone, you may want to set things up in your house so that you can reach them easily. Putting the Protein shakes on the top shelf of the fridge, getting out a pot, etc. Set up your bed with pillows to prop you up, move the tv, etc. Anything that's physical, you may want to do ahead of time so it's all set for you. Your recovery could be a breeze like @@Cody's mom or 3 months of hell like mine, but most likely somewhere in between! So may as well be prepared. Couple more things: I ended up buying a belly binder, which was a huge help with the pain. And finally, although this is TMI (sorry), if I had it to do over again I'd buy one of those reach extenders for, um, the bathroom... (I could not twist or bend without excruciating pain, and therefore could not reach...again, sorry for TMI!) Good luck!! -
TMI vomit talk warning... @@Niquee, my husband is about to hit his surgiversary next week after having a sleeve. And he regurgitates several times a week. In fact, and this is kinda weird but true, he uses it as a tool when he's out to eat with coworkers or in social situations with food as a way to clear the stomach if he gets full too early. While he can do it voluntarily, there are sometimes he just has to. Foodmush is it, no bile or stomach acid. We've talked to our doc about it, and while he recommends all the usual, eating slower, chewing more thoroughly, no liquids half hour before or after.... he also said that because it's not wreching or clenching the stomach muscles, it's just basically food backing up and out. Didn't say it was "good" per se but he wasn't overly worried about the long term effects. I'm concerned for the effects on his esophagus, because he had acid reflux before surgery and his esophagus was a little beat up. But, so far, while inconvenient most cases, it hasn't caused any other problems to date. For me, I've only thrown up two or three times since surgery and it has been horrible, whole body wretching experiences. It makes my eyes and nose water and my whole body hurts. So thankfully it hasn't happened often. I hope the "traditional advice" works somehow for you or that you can pinpoint the "trick" to your own situation.
