  1. 3 week stall just broke and I've dropped another 3kg. Wahoo! I don't mind a stall if I lose a kg for each week stalled!
  2. I know stalls are inevitable, and I know the dreaded "3 weeks stall" is fairly common, but how long did yours last? I've been gaining/losing the same 4lbs for 2.5 weeks. I've been in contact with my dietician, who slightly altered my plan, but still no change. So how long was your stall? HW-299 SW july 3-289 CW-262-265
  3. Do check out the Vets forum... many in the same boat working to get to goal or lose those reagained pounds. I never got to goal (close...) and had a22 pound regain... I am almost down to my origional low... using the 5:2 with lots of success and not too hard to follow. Sorry about your regain, please try this before you go under the knife, it might just do the trick! joly, seriously relax, you don't feel that much restriction until you are at solids. Even if you cant feel "full" don't eat till you feel full, eat by measuring and counting calories. You had nerves cut in your stomach, and you may not be able to feel full yet, until you actually heal up... maybe quite a bit later! Just slow down and follow your Docs and Nuts advice. Also, at 2-3 weeks many people go into a LONG stall (the 3 week stall its called) Mine lasted 4 weeks! This is normal! Just hang in there. Things will move soon.

So, I haven't been on here in a while, and decided to give an update. I just posted some pictures that I had taken back in June when I was at 222 pounds. I just came out of a 3 week stall and am now at 205 pounds. It was frustrating to not lose anything for such a long period of time, but I think it was because I wasn't exercising as much as I had been due to all that has been going on at work. (Just now getting frustrated typing this because the enter button won't work in this box!) I am happy about my weight, not so much about the saggy skin that is coming up in places where I didn't expect. I also haven't been this weight since after having my son 20 years ago. It's nice and I'm excited to see how much more I will lose and how much better I will look.

How do I break through this stall?!

You're in the 3 week stall. There's a link in my sig that explains it. It's very common. Don't worry too much about it. Read the link and know that you will lose more very soon.
  7. Yep, I do believe that I'm officially in the dreaded 3 WEEK STALL!!! I've been the same weight since Friday. Thank God for this wonderful site, because if I didn't know about the 3 week stall, I would be totally freaking out. I'm cool, it's all part of the process...but. .. WHEN IS IT GOING TO END?????? :-D

Why I Post aka That guy's an A Hole

I appreciate the patience that the more seasoned folks have since I imagine every question has been asked at least 100 times. The fact that any of you take the time to share your experiences and guide us through this journey is truly a gift. (I have only been on this board for a few weeks and if I read one more question about the 3 week stall....I want to have an auto response that tells people how to search) It seems like there are always people who come here want to get only the answer they want to hear. On the internet, you can keep asking and even if a million people give the same answer they just want to hear from the one person who validates their decision. The posts that disturb me are the ones where they are newly sleeved and want to know how to cheat the system just days or weeks after going through the surgery. What are they thinking? Don't they want to succeed? They spend all this time and energy working to getting the surgery and then want to know if it is OK to not follow the instructions of professionals? I am just bewildered by them. In the end, they may not hear what they want to hear but they are hearing what they need to from the folks on this board who are brutally honest. What they choose to do with that truth is just another factor in how successful they will be in the end.

    Metformin post surgery

yeah, almost everyone hits the 3 week stall. You didn't need to change anything, just wait it out. You will stall. It lets your body catch up to your weightloss. Your loss most likely had nothing to do with the metformin.

    Metformin post surgery

I haven't had a Metformin since the day after surgery. All you did was hit the dreaded 3-week stall like almost everyone else on this board, I doubt that the Metformin had anything to do with you losing weight again (I'm not a doctor so take that for what it's worth). Personally, start tracking your glucose every day (twice a day if possible) if you aren't already and show it to your doctor and insist you be taken off of it asap if you don't need it. There's a risk of it driving your glucose too low once you've lost enough weight.

    Lower Abdominal Pain

Thanks for the feedback! You're gonna laugh, but I took some Mylanta Gas after supper and have felt TONS better!!! And I've read about the dreaded 3 week stall, so I feel much better about the situation. I'm still going to try to get into my doc this week rather than next. Also, the location of the pain wold be around my ovaries, but the pain is not cramp-like. Doesn't feel like a woman issue. And I'm on YAZ so I rarely have periods. I have three more pink pills before I start my white pills this month. So we will see if I'm better tomorrow! Louisville, KY ~ RNY June 24, 2013 ~ Sent from my iPad using RNYTalk

    Attention ! Australian Sleevers

Misty, Agile development sounds fun:) Being a BA myself, we are having a great "uh-hum" time transitioning to Agile requirement documentation and development. Enjoy your reading, what are you reading? I tend to agree, Sue, you are onto something with the 3 week stall. I can barely think of anyone who hasnt had the 3 week stall Carmella, stay strong it will pass soon, and you will be back on a loosing streak. Lessismore...good luck, think I am a bit late but hope the surgery went well. Lissa, day 1 and I am failing...last minute travel put a spanner in my works, seeing as I am on a 7 am flight and wont be on a flight home til 7pm, wont get the work out in today and am eatting on the run...eeeek
  13. I have been thinking about this '3 week stall' - I think it is tied in with the bodies ability to only go with out food for 3 weeks! Maybe it is the bodies last ditch effort to hold on to that last bit of weight before you truly go into starvation mode - lets face it, the amount of calories we are consuming around this time truly is at starvation levels! Just one of my thoughts but hey, I am no doctor!
  14. Everyone stalls at 3 weeks. It is actually a bit of a cliche. You will be amazed if you search "3 week stall". Don't freak out. It will pass.

    JULY SLEEVERS

Yes...its very normal to stall. Search the dreaded 3 week stall and see for yourself. I was depressed when the scale stopped moving so early. But I had never heard of stalls. Keep reading...you're not alone. Sleeved May 15th SW 205 CW 174 IVE been at 174 for almost a week. I think my body is in starvation mode. I had a virus and haven't been able to eat hardly anything.

1 step forward & TEN back!

Well remember you probably had a 3 week stall mixed in there somewhere. (remember even of the biggest loser there is always in week 2or 3 a time when some just don't lose or lose as much). You are doing great! In 51 days (including pre-op) you have lost an average of 3/4 of a pound a day!!! That is AWESOME!!! From your responses I see you need to really up you water, that makes a HUGE difference, and track your food/protein.

    Really upset

This is normal. It's called the 3 week stall. Don't stress try and sit back and let it happen.
  18. I can not say 'Thank You' enough to all of the posters who have posted about the 3 week stall. I will be 3 weeks post-op in 2 days and about 5 days ago my body put the brakes on! I lost 21 quick lbs in the first 2 weeks, then low and behold....nothing. zip. zilch. I am a very 'instant gratification' kind of gal and I KNOW had I not read all of your posts about the dreaded 3WS that my attitude would be in the crapper! Instead, I feel pretty darn normal and since I half expected this, I am OK with it! Besides, inches are still coming off So, a huge THANK YOU to everyone for sharing their personal journeys, successes and struggles. It helps so much! Now, when will I start losing again???
  19. Well I know there's the dreaded 3 week stall. Dont get discouraged. Think of it this way there's no way you can't loose weight with the amount of food we eat. I remember my Dr telling me that your body will try and hold on to the weight because it thinks its starving. But it can only hold on to it for so long. I would also try taking maybe milk of magnesia to help you with the #2 problem. I'm almost 4 mounts out and don't go to the bathroom very much also. Good luck to you! Sent from my iPhone using VST
  20. I had my lap band removed sept 2012. I was sleeved January 2013. I have lost more weight with the sleeve then I did the 4 years that I had the band. I'm a slow loser but I have been losing. Yes I had the 3 week stall but I'm still happy. Tomorrow I will be 6 months out and have lost 50 lbs. starting weight 230. Current 180. Sent from my iPad using VST
  21. I am 3 weeks out and I have lost 25lbs (counting 1 week liquid diet also). Today I weighed and actually gained a pound even though I cannot even eat 4 ounces. I've been eating a lot of tuna fish with regular mayo and I ate some peas with it so I'm not eating low carb. I also eat yogurt and Soup for dinner. Should I try to be eating just low carb/high Protein or is it ok to not even worry about it right now? How did you lose weight? I know I'm eating way less than I ever have before and this is the dreaded 3 week stall but I cannot help but wonder about my eating. Also I was sleeved in Mexico so I am trying to follow their instructions on protein but its difficult.
  22. Is it possible that I, Chika, have managed to break through the much dreaded, agonizing and nerve-wracking 3 week stall?? Why, I do believe so! Woooohoooo! Don't stop believin'! 321lbs for the past week and a half. 316.2 todeeeeeeeeeeee!
  23. I know this is common and I know it gets asked about a lot, but to those of you who went through the 2,3 or 4 week stall, how long did it last? Did you do anything specific to shift out of it, or did it just more on its own? I've been losing and gaining the same pound for 9 days-I will be 4 weeks on Thursday. I've been patient until today...but now I'm annoyed.

    May 7th

I had minr may 7 th as well. I to had the 3 week stall even gained. But I'm two months out and judt got out of a three week stall. I've done pretty good though. 49 lbs down. Only 8 to onderland. I was dehidrated maybe that's why I stalled.
  25. Had my surgery may 7th, the first month was rough due to low potassium...and then I had a 3 week stall. But now I am feeling great and losing !!! Thanks everyone on here for your support and encouraging words when I was having a rough time at the beginning and letting me vent
