    Stalled ????

Proudgrammy said it best - ride the wave. ( good one ). I'm riding the 3 week stall wave too. It's a major bummer. How can one not lose weight while eating between 400-800 calories a day?? I dunno but the weight is bound to come off eventually. Hang in there! I'll be hanging in with you.
  3. So tomorrow will mark 6 weeks post op. The first 3 weeks I was able to lose 34lbs but I have stalled for the last 3. My NUT keeps telling me it happens but I am getting really concerned. Scale has only gone down 1lb! Yikes! Am working out as of last week and just praying for things to shake up cause it's depressing...
  4. It really is! I hit the dreaded 3 week stall but today I stepped on the scale and was down 2 pounds! I'm ready for more lol.
  5. Hi everyone. This Sunday will make 3 weeks for me and for the past week or so I have been at the same weight. I briefly saw a 2 lb drop but that was a flash in the pan - maybe I was dehydrated that am…... Do you all stall this early out? How do you deal with it? Thanks BP family!

    How's my calories?

For me I have to focus on getting in the Protein. My nutritionist also did indeed advise staying close to 800 calories, but the key is protein and Water. If you are sure you are getting in the protein, try tracking it. Even if you don't use and app like Myfitnesspal, make note of how much protein you get in. I only weigh myself when I go to the doctor so I may have had a 3 week stall and was unaware. I was weighed day of surgery, at my 2 week post op and at my 6 week follow up. I was down 26lbs at 2 weeks and another 6lbs at 6weeks. I won't get weighed again until I go back to the doctor next month.

    How's my calories?

I am 4 weeks post op, and the past week I had gained 2 pounds. This morning I was finally down another pound. Hoping my "3 week stall" has passed. As far as diet goes yours sounds a lot like mine. I am actually already on my lifetime diet. As week 2 I was also on soft foods. All surgeons have different plans and orders. I've had zero issues with any foods or drinks. I still follow the no sugar, high protein lots of water. Sometimes I hit my 60g of protein sometimes I fall pretty short. I have lost 29 pounds and I feel pretty good. Your body will go through lots of fluctuation during the next couple weeks. It's adjusting to the shock. And I rarely get over 7-8 hundred calories in. Good luck to u!

    Weight gain or standstill

Oh that's because in the hospital they fill you up with tons of water so you don't get dehydrated. Looks like they gave you plenty. It will slowly leave you in the next week or two. Just try and stay off the scales, I know its hard but it does help. You will feel on top of the world when the weight drops but you will get a stall soon too, be prepared. Put ' 3 week stall ' in the search box, it will save you some more worry and disappointment when it happens to you. Keep the faith, this works, it worked for all these others on this forum, you will be fine if you stick fairly close to your recommendations.
  9. After hitting a nearly 3 week stall I finally started losing again this past week slowly. Finally I was starting to feel better and not so down on myself. I went to see my doctor today and I've lost 7 lbs in the last month. Instead of hearing words of encouragement he told me I wasn't doing a good enough job and need to work harder. I explained to him I hit a stall and couldn't lose and nd I just started losing again. His words "well you just have to work through it". It didn't matter how hard I worked I couldn't lose it. I really thought I was doing good. Was even kinda proud of myself and need starting to accept this new life style better now I feel like I'm back at square one and did nd depressed again.

    Hit a stall

most folks hit a stall early on. i'm only 5 weeks out and also hit a stall in the last 10 days. it's definitely frustrating but there are several of threads on here that talk about the dreaded 3-week stall. reading how many people have or are going through the same thing will make you feel a lot better, believe me. just keep working on your Protein and Water intake, try to avoid carbs (at least that's why my doc recommends) and try to keep moving/burning calories. eventually you'll start losing again. our bodies are just healing and trying to recover from the shock that we just put it through!!! as for the folks you mentioned, try to ignore their comments and keep your head up. a year from now, they'll be looking at a brand new you and none of their comments will matter in the least. it's all about how YOU feel about yourself! stay strong!
  11. I have hit this durn 3 week stall!!!!! How long does this last? I was up 2 pounds on the scale this morning!
  12. Hey, Im only 2 1/2 weeks out and 28 lbs down and I think I have hit the dreaded 3 week stall. I've noticed a few days with a half a pound gain in the morning that was gone by the end of the day. I did always have Water retention issues so I also assumed it was that. I hope you get your answers. Good luck!

    Stalling now that I'm active?!WTF

I don't think becoming active is why you're stalling; instead, it's the common 3-week stall which can happen between weeks 2-4. Make sure you're getting all your fluids and protein in. If you're low, bumping them up can help break a stall. Try not to weigh yourself everyday too.
  14. So, I've officially been banded 4 weeks! I'm down 32 pounds and feeling great. I'm eating smaller portions, Protein first, then veggies, never room for starches. Lifting weights 4-5x a week, cardio 2-3x a week. I can't stress how happy I am about the decision I made. Not only with wls in general, but deciding on the band. I have my first fill next wednesday, and I'm hoping if I can get close to my morning band, where I'm tight, but can still eat solid foods, I'd be in my green zone. I have trouble staying full for over an hour or two after lunch and dinner, but Breakfast keeps me full for 3-4 hours. I got a little caught up in some emotions and my 3 week stall, but I looked in the mirror this morning, and I wasn't disgusted at what I saw. At 303 I felt like I was busting at the seams, like if I gained one more pound, I'd pop like a balloon. I couldnt even bend over to tie my shoes. I didn't have any co-morbities, but at 26, my life was miserable, and it took a toll on my relationship because I didn't understand how my fiance could even stand the sight of me, because I couldn't even look at myself in the mirror. Now, pants and already starting to fall off and belts are getting moved more than one hole tighter. Workouts are getting easier, and taking the stairs is no big deal now, unless its the day after leg day . Im SO happy I found this site. I've learned so much from other peoples experiences!

Is It The 3 Week Stall?

It WILL move again! You are at that 3 week stall, for sure. This is when taking measurements helps so much! While you're agonizing over the scale, your body is shrinking. Take some pics today and compare them to your pre-surgery pics. You'll be astonished by all the changes in your body and your face! Stalls happen and, despite anything we do, they are going to happen. We just have to find the NSVs to make them more tolerable! You are doing great!

    3 week stall

I had my surgery 3 weeks ago i was dropped about 1 1/2 lbs a day and now it stopped ... the scale will not move at all and it’s killing me . I know i shouldn’t be weight my self everyday but it’s a bad habit i have to break . I’ve been following everything and counting my macros but idk what is going on 😭
  17. Do you have visible swelling? Hands, feet, ankles? There is a post somewhere that basically states that while your body is breaking down fat to turn it into glycogen, it requires Water to do so... and the assumption is something like 8 pounds of water weight is typical. If you are busy building additional muscle, that probably takes even more. Please don't take the water pills. Your body is holding onto that Fluid for a reason, and when it doesn't need it anymore, it will let it go. You are still very early in this process, and are doing great! We have "the 3 week stall"... I think we need to coin "the 6 week panic" everyone goes through this! The last diet I went on I lasted for 6 weeks. Lost about 15lbs and thought I had done a great job! The difference is this is a new lifestyle for you. This isn't just another diet.

    weight gain after solid foods?

Joan, I'm not sure about the Crohn's piece of the puzzle, but almost everyone experiences a stall or even a gain at around the 3-4 week mark. I know you're in week 6, but it might be the standard stall just delayed because you had to slow down the progression of your diet. I would say don't freak out--if you're keeping track of what you're eating and you're within the suggested counts, the scale will start moving again, I promise. I thought the same thing when I hit that first point where my body said "What's going on?" and weight loss stopped for 2 weeks, but it started again and has kept going. Hang in there--I think this is your 3-week stall, just on a Crohn's schedule. HUGS, though, cause seeing that scale move up is disheartening when you're doing everything right!!
  19. It's not the raw number of calories. Even at 1250, OP is still running a significant daily deficit (I weigh about the same and burn roughly 2500cal/day on average, so OP would be running a similar deficit). I think it's far more likely to be the quality of the calories than the total number of calories. Could be partly some metabolic reaction to the sugar intake (speaking of which, OP, are the yogurts sugar free? Each one of those could add another tablespoon of sugar to your total), inflammation, fluid retention, who knows? Plus, OP is right in that "3 week stall" window, where the body may be replacing released glycogen and water. A lot of things could be happening, but my best guess is that cutting out the sugary drink and going back to basics will put OP back to the baseline. If there's still a problem, I would say it's time to talk to the doc.
  20. Doing a basic Basal Metabolic Rest calculation, I should burn at LEAST 2.5k calories. If I take in at most 1.2k calories, that means I burn 1300 calories a day, 7 days a week, that is 2.6 pounds a week. Mathematicaly, .........that doesnt make any sense when I have GAINED in the past week. I will have to ask or find something different. Maybe I should replace my frapp with a latte or something like that. Its not so much the drink, its the sweet tooth and that homey atmosphere of the coffee shop I like. Daydra, what is this 3 week stall thing that you are talking about? Sugar has never been a problem and I always thought calories are calories. Obviously Protein is better, they spammed that in my head enough, but.....what? I have been having Greek Yogurt by Yoplait pretty much every day. I live on that stuff. I havent been working out as much, but I have been active. I have been moving around. Im not sedentary. What worries me though is that my body just got used to the sugary drinks and all that, the amount of food. Instead of feeling pain, I wouldnt feel much at all. Instead of having diarrhea after the frappe, I would just be a little uncomfortable, but not much... I just never thought I would have these problems again..................and this has been an addictive thing, checking the scale. My new clothes are fitting, and Im feeling good, but its invalidated when I check the scale.

Scale Doesnt Seem To Be Moving

My "3 week stall" lasted about 5 weeks!!! ARG!!! I thought my surgery was a failure, although, I was still loosing minimal inches. Then, all of a sudden, it started going down again!!! I realized that the weight at which I had stalled, was a weight that I had previously been at for a good period of time! Also, at 3 weeks out, your body is still trying to adjust to your new stomach size. Your body thinks you're trying to starve it & therefore, holds on to as fat as it possibly can! These stalls are quite normal! Keep doing what you're doing...you will be rewarded!!!
  22. My 3-week stall (which lots of people get) started at 2 weeks also!

    Wls 2/13. Scale Isn't Moving:(

Some of the most noticeable "loss" according to my hubby was while I was in a 3 week stall...I didn't loose any weight but I lost inches. Do your jeans seem loose? Did you know your waist size before? I bet you have lost inches if not lbs.
