  1. I'm just really depressed about my hair. I knew I would lose some hair but I just didn't expect to lose so much. Even a pixie cut (which I wanted) wouldn't look right. Only saving grace is that the hair loss has slowed down. But not gonna lie I feel at a lost.
  2. S there anyone who DIDN'T have excessive hair loss?
  3. Just wondering? Does everyone experience this? I am reading and it seems most do. I am 2.5 months out and so far so good but everytime I shower I look to see if I see hair in the tub. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G930A using BariatricPal mobile app
  4. I'm afraid that my hair is thinning (probably all in my mind) and want to take biotin to try to counteract that. However, I'm afraid that taking biotin will cause my facial hair and other unwanted body hair to grow more also. Had anyone experienced this or have knowledge about it? Thank you in advance! 5. My hair has finally started to shed. Nothing too horrible...yet. Just really annoying! I had a cute hair style picked out but opted to order extensions instead. I'm not upset by it, I knew it was going to happen so I'm not shocked. I've decided to look at it as my internal "fat" girl and "skinny" girl are fighting. One of them is fighting dirty and pulling hair out!! I'm betting on the skinny girl to win the fight in the end! Ha! So if you lost hair how long did it last?
  6. Its going to fall out if I'm not getting enough protein isn't it? I m really freaking out over this...
  7. Hi I am post op 13 weeks and experiencing a lot of hair loss. It's scary! I'm just curious if anyone has tried Nioxin and if it works. Or any other suggestions. Thank you!!!!
  8. 3 months out & my hair is falling out. The black & white photo was when I weighed 295. I had thick, amazing hair. The one on the right was this Christmas at 173lbs. Hair is definitely thinner & stringy. & I'm wearing it curly, it looks even thinner when I straighten it. I know this isn't permanent, I know it'll grow back eventually. But man its still upsetting What have you guys done to combat this? Or how to cope with hair loss?

    My hair!!!!

OMG you guys my hair is falling out so badly! I can't believe how much I've lost. I'm taking Biotin, upped my Protein, taking my multi-Vitamin - what else can I do. I'm totally freaking out and need some help. Aaah, I could cry! Have any of you lost your hair? Did it grow back? How long did you lose it for? How long until it came back? Sorry for the questions but I'm nervous and bald! HELP!!!!!!!!!!!
  10. Hi all, I am still pre op - my date is April 2nd... I have accepted that a period of hair loss is heading my way and that's part of the parcel that comes with the sleeve. That said... is it just hair thinning or do some people have bald patches? Thank you Shelley
  11. Hello! I am going to be having my surgery soon, 32 days till THE day.... and I have ALWAYS had an issue with hair loss. With my hair already being thin and fragile I've come up with my own home remedy that works wonders (when I remember to use it). I melt down some coconut oil in the microwave, then add the shea butter, grapeseed oil, pure Vitamin e oil, and tea tree oil. Occasionally I will add a few drops of lavender essential oil. I never measure, these are the kind of mad scientist moments that I thrive on. I use my immersion blender to whip it up into a creamy flurry. Slather it on my head very liberally and let it sit for about 10 minutes to half an hour or longer - the longer it sits the more your hair absorbs it seems. I assume if you are sensitive to essential oils you may not be able to let it sit to long if they affect your eyes. Then it takes about 2-3 shampoos to get it out of my hair. The end result is amazing, my hair is nourished and soft the whole week. Any leftovers of my concoction I put in the refrigerator in a small microwaveable bowl or jar to heat up to soften and use later (I'm not sure if refrigerating is even necessary). SO with the anticipation that I will not have any hair left if it starts falling out even more after surgery, I was wondering if anyone else had any good tips on natural ingredients to use in such a hair mask. Oils, essential oils, Vitamins that can be broken down, etc that your hair feeds on. I've been searching hair loss threads and there are so many, and I am sure there have been suggestions before... I'd appreciate them! =D TYIA I will be taking Biotin and other vitamins/minerals orally of course.
  12. So this weekend I went to get a haircut from someone who had never cut my hair before. The odd scenario went something like this: Me:Just a heads up my hair is kind of falling out I recently had surgery. Her: What kind of surgery? (kind of a personal question I thought) Me:Weight loss surgery. Her:Oh, (looks me up and down) so is it working? Me:Yes, I've lost 80 pounds Her: Wow, how big were you before? Her:So is your skin going to get all weird? Her: (as she holds my hair up) Wow, look at how thin this is? My desire was to take her scissors and cut her (just a little) Guess I will be going back to my regular stylist.

  14. Hello ladies! I wanted to see if women who are losing/have lost weight after WLS are now more brave about cutting their hair! I know for me, I always felt like my hair was my curtain. I always hid behind it because I am a natural blonde, and therefore no matter how BIG I was I always felt like atleast I had pretty hair! HA, sad way to think I know. Anyways, I am ALWAYS hearing people say that they could "Never pull off a short hair cut" because their face is not made for short hair. My hair has been short for a few years now, mainly because I have two small children and it's SO much easier...but I also cut it when I was at my heaviest. I now have a short pixie, and I feel liberated!
  15. So i have a question... i am just starting this journey and have read that hair loss is common and biotin can help but it takes months to work. So i was wondering if i start taking it now, i probably wont have my surgery for a couple of months, could it make it where i dont have hair loss??

    Hair Loss........omg!

:omg:I dont know if this is where I am supposed to post this but I am freaking out! I am almost 4 months out and last week I started noticing my hair is falling out in what I consider huge amounts. I dont have super thick hair to begin with. I was told this might happen, but I guess I was thinking it might not happen to me. What can I do? Will anything help? Please someone tell me I wont be bald! How long does it fall out? Can it be from not enough Protein, or is it from losing weight too quickly? HELP!!!! Thanks, Janette :cry:help::omg::omg::omg::omg::omg::omg::omg::omg::omg::omg::omg::omg::omg::omg::omg::omg:
  17. I started losing my hair, tons of hair at 5 months out, thought I was going bald. I cried and cried because all that is left is strings.....but.......its finally growing back at 9 months (I look like a baby bird LOLOL). I did not take anything special nor did not do anything to it to try to get it to come back (my doc said nothing is proven to help anyway). My point is... to those losing your hair..... HANG IN THERE !!!!! :clap2: :clap2: :clap2: :clap2: :clap2: :clap2: :clap2: :clap2: :clap2: :clap2: :clap2: :clap2: :clap2: :clap2: :clap2: :clap2: :clap2:

    Hair loss

I am 7 months post op. I expected some hair loss but when does it stop?!?!? I take my vitamins and have added biotin the last 2 months. Still keeps coming out [emoji27]. Anyone have any ideas or suggestions? Anyone else having this problem?

    Hair loss.

So is it true that your hair will fall out regardless of what vitamins you take?
  20. I'll be 2 years out in about two weeks. My hair is still falling out. It did stop about 15 months in but started back up this last March. I've lost about 130lbs. I also have PCOS and Hashimoto's but had this previously and maintained thick curly hair with no issues. I've been to several doctors with varying opinions...my PCP offered me a wig brochure. ???? It's definitely not to that point yet. My b12 was slightly low but nothing outrageous. My Iron comes back on the lower side of normal but my ferratin levels are a bit low. I've added in tons of supplements recently to see if that helps. It is very depressing going from tons of long lovely hair to short, thinning, dry hair. Help! 21. I'm a little over 3 months out from VSG and am experiencing quite a bit of hair loss. I'd been expecting this and am consistently meeting my protein goals, taking biotin along with my vitamins, etc but it's still distressing to see. I was due to get another perm right around the time of my surgery but held off thinking the hair loss might not be so bad if I gave my hair a break from the chemicals. Since the hair loss has happened regardless, I'm wondering if getting it re-permed now would actually end up helping a bit with volume to fill in the thin spots. Has anyone had experience with perms during the 3-8+ month window after surgery when hair loss is heaviest? I don't want to make things worse but am curious to hear about anyone else who has experience with this. Thanks!
