    Recreational Drugs

Look you need to go through a detox, warm tea, spring water and rest. You are doing coke and alcohol likely due to anxiety and depression. You need a psychologist and psychiatrist so you can stop self medicating. First you need to ensure you have proper sleeping patterns then get on a prescription like Wellbutrin to calm your mind and body. I donโ€™t judge Iโ€™m here to help. I personally am on Wellbutrin and it helped me bear alcoholism

Thank u... yes I'm in the UK and our social lives can be dependent on drugs and alcohol. Tbh it's put me off both now

You didn't wreck it, but you're going to have to go slow on the alcohol from now on. I'm guessing you're in the UK and this is going to be hard, since pretty much everything is centered around drinking in a way it isn't in the US, but your tolerance for alcohol is going to be radically different from what it was before. I'm ten months out and can get knocked for a loop with two G&Ts. Three months is still pretty early for reintroducing alcohol, talk to your doctor about when you can start drinking again - and obviously your changed drinking tolerance is going to impact decision-making... and that's where the coke comes in. Because you know you shouldn't be doing that with a compromised digestive system and surgical healing. Talk to your doctor about the recreational drugs too. Or, if you think you're going to hit a judgement wall there, talk to another health counselor. If it helps at all, there's a significant cultural difference US/UK when it comes to talking about drugs, and I think you accidentally ran into the buzzsaw with your original post. The puritanical streak in the US is considerably wider and more opinionated than in the UK. There are a lot of posts around this forum about how people's social lives have changed now they can't drink much and it's changed the way they experience the bar, so maybe look up some of those to find fellow travelers?

Thank u so much for an honest answer. I'm 3 months out this was the first time with alcohol and drugs ( I did this lots before wls) I just got drunkand kind of forgot about the sleeve and then panicked I'd wrecked all my good work I'm managing to keep water down today so hopefully it's going away... defo a lesson learnt

You're not asking a stupid question. And it's not TMI. Goddamnit, people depress me sometimes. First: when did you have surgery? Have you done coke before, and is this typical? Had you had alcohol since your surgery? Just based on the timing, I'd guess that you've got a stomach bug and that this isn't related to the drug use. Anyone vomiting for three days would feel ache in their stomach. Did you have a flu shot this year? Are you drinking a ton of Gatorade or Pedialyte to make up for the dehydration? If not, your symptoms are just going to feel worse. Even if this reaction has nothing to do with the coke or booze, you know that introducing a rogue element into a healing system isn't a good idea, obviously, and you'll be more careful in future. Good. Few things make me bristle with rage. Idiotic responses like this would be one of them. Her question was related to WLS, since she's concerned there's been an interaction between the drugs and the surgery. She's asking for help because she's worried. I am incredibly angry that your response was the first here, as it is worthless.

And I think you need some serious help. If you are doing coke and chasing it with alcohol, you have way bigger problems than can be resolved in a bariatric support group. Maybe check out some rehab centers.

Six months post-op+ : The Sophomores Thread

This is me. I do IF without trying really, and if I want to I can narrow the eating window down pretty easily. Like you I rarely am hungry in the morning. It is just a matter of pushing myself to eat as late as possible, sometimes 2-3 pm, and then shut down any eating late at night. Though if I'm truly hungry I will eat, even if it's late, but try not to if it's just cravings. I can't speak to the strictness, calories in coffee cream, etc. All the beverages I drink are calorie free (except alcohol and protein shakes), so I don't have that challenge. The theory behind IF is about keeping your body pulling energy from fat stores instead of from what you have ingested. So if you can eliminate or minimize calories during the fast then theoretically your results will be better.

    Head Hunger and stalling

Because I was more of a foodie than an emotional eater, I was hoping that the head hunger would be minimum.ย  But boy did it hit me like a ton of bricks this weekend.ย  I felt depressed and my first (and hopefully only) sense of regret.ย  I knew that having my surgery right before the Christmas holiday would be rough, but man this is really rough.ย  I didn't even realize how much my life with my friends and family revolved around food.ย  Every event I attended, everyone's home I visited, every gathering centred around food, and I hated that I could not partake.ย  And don't get me started on TV and advertisements everywhere you turn, It was like I was living in HELL.ย  ย My best girlfriends and I have an annualย ladies sleepover in whichย we exchange gifts and catch up on what's going on in each other's lives, and it centred around food and alcohol, which I can not partake. so as they had their Nacho's and various other fingerย foods, I was there snacking at my yoghurt, or sipping on my protein shake.ย  ย I really felt like the odd man out.ย  And the worst part is I know I only want these things because I can't have them!ย  ย

I also know that around week 3 most people stall. I am 2 weeks and 5 days out and yes I hit the dreaded stall.ย  I haven't lost any weight in 3 days and actually gained a few oz'sย over 2 days.ย  which I know is temporary, but still gives a small blow to the ego.ย  I know I am not the only person going through this, but it's nice to be able to just let it out.ย

  9. Challenge End Tally: Challenge Starting weight: 148.4lbs Current Weight: 150.4lbs Curre1nt weight lost: 138.6lbs (Beginning Wt. 287lbs) Losing or maintaining weight: Losing!!!!! (hopefully or at least maintaining) Working on Goal#2 - 140lbs Fitness/exercise goal: Exercise 6-7 days per week with 3 days being strength building with bands Total weight loss at the end of challenge: (Post January 1st 2019) 151.4lbs (+2lbs) Check in: Tell us how you are doing - (How is your diet and exercise plan going? Any struggles? Stress level? What have you overcome? Any strategies that have helped)--I'm finished the challenge strong, but sick with a yucky cold. Very little stress heading into January. Don't have any worries about over eating or eating "the wrong things." Although, clearly I indulged over Christmas. In between indulgences I was able to modify my eating and make "cuts" to keep cals/carbs low to try to offset the more liberal "treat" meals/alcohol. Very little exercise during this time, because our schedules were so busy and I didn't have the energy to exercise on top of how active I was. Am off all meds now except Letrozole, thyroid, and supplements. BP is in remission, blood sugars/insulin in remission, cancer in remission, asthma in remission, degenerative arthritis in remission, pain is reduced over 50%, sleeping has improved 100%. Thank you so much for doing this challenge @Healthy_life!!! Although I suck at them (as you can see), I do think it helped keep me from going completely off-track this holiday season!!! I'm actually pretty proud to only be 2lbs up after Christmas. I'm used to it being 10lbs at least! So I kinda feel like I was able to "maintain my current weight" even though I'm not at goal yet. You rock girlie!!! Happy New Year to you my sweet friend!!

    December 2018 Sleevers!

Jelena, I'm in the SAME BOAT AS U with the alcohol, I wouldn't dare try to drink ANYTHING! It seems the things that I have tried that are NOT whew truly on my liquid schedule had kicked me in the buttocks sooo, I'll wait and boy when I get that 1st glass of wine, I will gladly dance and sing with it lol. I'm trying to get more ideas of what a chick can tolerate next stage of full liquids shoooted. December 20th sleever here. 20lbs down, still liquids, and soft mushy things now. Sent from my SM-G930VL using BariatricPal mobile app
  11. My plan was not a darned thing day of surgery, day 1 clear, day 2 through 14 puree, I was advanced a couple days early because I was doing really well though. I've been on soft for two weeks now, I'm due to be on full diet in two weeks. The only things I am "never" supposed to eat again are fried foods and super sugary things. Also no caffeine or alcohol.

    December 2018 Sleevers!

I had my sleeve 12/11 and my surgeon said no alcohol for six months and honestly I canโ€™t imagine even trying alcohol so soon after surgery. I am down 30 lbs and I donโ€™t want to mess up my momentum.

    Required Vitamins

Post-op, I had problems with chewable vitamins and powdered vitamins mixed in water; caused nausea and vomiting. Most likely due to sugar alcohols in them. Solution: I waited until 4 weeks post-op then used a pill cutter for the larger vitamins until I could swallow them whole. No problems and my labs have been great.

      The 56 Bypass

Hang in there. Next time you head through the holidays, you'll be able to partake, but hopefully in a very careful, sane way. The days of our food insanity are behind us! We are learning a new, sane way to live, laugh and love!

Am I a 'recovered' morbidly obese person?

Thanks @proudgrammy! Was actually almost 160 lbs lost. Analogy - "recovering" alcoholic. good luck to the alcoholic for not having that first drink. hope/wishes to all of us for not eating that WHOLE pie, cake, bag of chips etc That's what is odd to me, WHY don't I feel those old cravings, the same as an alcoholic would? NOT that I'm complaining, lol!!!

Am I a 'recovered' morbidly obese person?

@TheRealMeIsHere! Congrats on your weight loss of 115 lbs. Great accomplishment. Your eating plan, whatever works for you, is what counts. I am a "recovering" morbidly obese person. Analogy - "recovering" alcoholic. good luck to the alcoholic for not having that first drink. hope/wishes to all of us for not eating that WHOLE pie, cake, bag of chips etc.โ˜บ๏ธ kathy

VSG is 1/8, pre-op diet starts on 1/1

I also quit coffee. It's been 7 days. I am sober from alcohol 13 months. Quit smoking 1 year ago and now coffee. Coffee has been the hardest! No caffiene or coffee in 7 days...I really wanted one today.

    What to do when dumping?

I seem to remember glucagon somewhere in the equation. Not 5hinking on a cylinders mys3lf this morning or I would have deduced it all for myself. If Christmas was a Hard-Candy Christmas , today I feel like I have a non- alcoholic hangover, at least what others have said a hangover feels like, nauseated, headache from Hades and don't give a flying flip about much of anything. Is that describing it? Seems like just drinking something light in the Bad Old Days worked, but what works on a remodeled body like we now have? Not even weak warm decaf tea sounds good.

Sophomoreville - A Home For The the Tweeners

Ok, all caught up I think .... What's everyone doing for NYE? I'm going to Mexico (how come there is no Mexican flag emoji?)! I booked this when I planning on having had plastic surgery in the fall and thought all I'd be able to do is lay by the pool and mix alcohol and painkillers But ps didn't happen, so I'll just be relaxing. Now relaxing isn't my kind of vacation, I like to see new places and do new things generally. But despite that I'll try to have a good time!

    Champagne

I would suspect so, but remember. alcohol hits post- bariatric very hard, may take only that to make you drunk. YMYC my dear.
  22. I had at 55. Lost 80 in first year. Now at 14 months and starting to gain. Want a tip...donโ€™t rush to add back in alcohol. It only increases your desire to eat carbs.
  23. Starry*Night

Just diet and exercise. WOW! Never considered that.

Unless the person is someone close to me and I can tell they really were sincere and meant well with the statement, I don't engage. In my case, I'm a food addict - it's like telling an alcoholic to just stop drinking. No ๐Ÿ’ฉ Sherlock ๐Ÿ™„

    Alcohol - a warning?

My paternal side of the family were small businessmen(aka moonshiners) my material grandmother was buried wearing her Women's Christian Temperance Union ribbon, now wounded I'm as mixed up as I am. Have I ever tasted Uncle's White Lightening, Oh yeah, had to sit down. on a tree stump. 1) because the world was spinning and 2) so I wouldn't shame Daddy by not being able to hold my liquor and so I wouldn't puke all over somebody's shoes. I voluntarily never drink again in case I might have an innate alcoholic gene. Worst thing my relatives did, one of my great great uncles had a keg of hard cider in his barn, males in that family all went out and imbibed what didn't freeze. Imagine what proof that must have been! If anyone is curious what proof means, it's % of alcohol content, so 100 proof is 50% alcohol. Scary Larry True Fact!
  25. Thank you so much Bari_KS, I actually got virtual roses, and I'll keep going back and looking at their loveliness. You brightened my gloom up. Thought I could rock this year because of weight loss but if alcohol never drowns troubles it stands to reason sorrow pops to the surface like a large cork. No sorrow tomorrow, but I felt sad and lonely , and underwhelmed by how my bari- life is turning out.๐Ÿ’ฆ๐Ÿ˜ช๐Ÿ“ฆ๐ŸŽ
