For the first couple weeks, with your new baby belly, you get new baby poop. I swear that's what it was like. Sorry for the TMI. -

I'm just going to throw this out there. It's a little too much TMI but a valid point to make. You all may or may not have thought about it, but since we have to eat so much protein, it's going to slow down our plumbing. I've been drinking a least one protein shake a day for 3 weeks and have noticed "issues". I'm thinking we should just stock up on stool softeners. -

Oh, also want to add this part of their pre-op: 14 Days Prior to Surgery Do not smoke. Follow Pre-Op Diet below: Use any premixed canned or powdered protein drink that contains at least 15 grams of protein. You may purchase these in any health food store or many grocery stores. Wal-Mart EAS pre mix is excellent for pre op but BIO CHEM is great powder for after surgery. Breakfast: 1 protein drink Lunch: 1 protein drink Dinner: Salad with Protein 6 oz for women…8 oz for men (chicken, fish, egg, etc.), small amount of low-fat or fat-free dressing, or olive oil and vinegar. Evening Snack: 1 protein drink (if needed). You may also take 1 Metamucil capsule per day for hunger (if needed). I bought some store brand Metamucil and take it with my lunch and a bottle of water. I don't know if it is all in my mind...but it does help with hunger (for me!). I know it has psyllium husk in it, which expands in your stomach making you feel fuller. Probably TMI (or not), but I thought Metamucil would make me need to use the bathroom alot...it does not- which is good! I tried the EAS drinks...they are OK, too. For some reason, the GNC Lean 25's keep me fuller than Premeir Protein (30g of protein). I have no idea how that works, but I will roll with it. Good luck! WE GOT THIS! -
Not eating enough1

I buy the precooked chicken and steak strips for fajitas (they're in the meat section of my grocery store). That way, I always have an option of just pulling out a couple of ounces of them to heat up for a "meal". There are also beef tips in gravy that are precooked, you can just take out a portion and heat them. Fat free refried Beans are one of my favorites -- especially with some salsa mixed in. I also buy individually wrapped tilapia filets -- put a little pat of butter and some blackened seasoning on them and microwave for about 1-1/2 minutes. You've definitely got to get more Protein in or you are going to lose muscle mass and hair. I usually drink a Protein shake for breakfast. Muscle milk 100 is my favorite and it's perfect for in the car on the way to work. I also eat a lot of almonds... I counted out 24 in a handful, so I know exactly how to count it. Days I'm home I eat leftovers for breakfast -- just finished 2 chicken on a stick skewers from the Chinese food place last night. On another note... I've only thrown up once since surgery and this may sound funny, but it wasn't as bad as I was afraid of and it actually wasn't as bad as throwing up pre-surgery. Maybe you don't have as much stomach to heave or whatever but it was over quick. Sorry if TMI! -
Thanks Luna! A couple years ago I had a bad UTI. I didn't have any pain then either. I went to the Dr. because my pee smelled REALLY WEIRD! The Dr. pretty much scolded me for letting it go that long because it could go from bad to worse really quickly and you could have permanent damage? Really? But I didn't have pain, so why would I have gone to the Dr. earlier? I did just notice the last couple days that even when I'd wipe, it was really dark yellow, even on the TP. (sorry, TMI) You should definitely check with your Dr. to see if you're dehydrated though, Luna. The leg cramps are for sure a sign of that.

I'm having some serious…digestive issues? 2 week Post-op!
Frecklie posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This is a bit TMI, so apologies. I've been on a full-liquid diet, and I initially thought it might have been the tomato Soup I was drinking so I cut that out, I consume 60 grams of Protein everyday, and it's nectar chocolate Truffle that I mix with fat free Milk. I also occasionally have a diet energy V8, which could be an issue too, but I am experiencing really bad diarrhea. I haven't had a normal bowel movement since surgery, and I am wondering if anyone else has had this issue and how they resolved the issue? I am calling my clinic in a few hours to ask them what I should do, but I'd like another opinion from someone who may have this same experience. I would like to note that I am not lactose intolerant because I have constantly had this protein before my surgery too with no issues. -
I never feel full...
Stinab64 replied to DarthVixen's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm not sure what I feel. This is an important topic for me. I am beginning my third week. Last week I had a horrible situation...probably dumping... but it was like 2.5 days of torture. Yesterday (TMI) I had the most painful BM I've ever had in the morning and then some residual looser stool in the evening. But I "think" I'm hungry. I get that "hunger" feeling. I eat then.. and feel better. I too am trying to only eat what I'm told. Quarter cup.... I have lost 14lbs since surgery - and the last 2 days...NOTHING. I even went up yesterday and back down today. Tell me what you all eat? What is your schedule like? Thanks so much! -
3 weeks post- op. No weight loss in 6 days?
audefacere replied to BaseballMamma's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am nearing the end of my third week. I didn't lose anything from end of week 2 until just this past friday and even then it was only 3 lbs. I'm chalking it up to that I'm really backed up (TMI sorry) and at the 2 week mark is when I started to eat more foods. I'm hoping for better results in the coming weeks. -
Days 3 and 4 were the hardest for me. I know this will be TMI, but not being able to have a bowel movement was REALLY bad. It did get better after day 4. You got this - drink up! I mean Water. lol

I guess I have finally hit the dreaded stall. I have been the same weight for the last 3 days. I have lost 32 pounds so far and had my surgery just a little over 4 weeks ago. I am on my period (tmi, sorry) so that may have a little to do with it. I hope the stall doesn't last long, it's very frustrating.

Tomorrow will be 1 month since my surgery - and I know there are several of you out there in the same boat - so I thought we should check in and compare stats. I'm 5'8", starting weight was 296, surgery weight 283 and weight today is 258. I'm eating between 600-800 calories a day, less than 50g of carbs, and at least 60g of Protein. I dont exercise yet, other than some light walking, but I plan to start soon. In less concrete news, I feel great. I've been working since 2 weeks out and not really experiencing any more exhaustion than usual. My hunger is starting to pick up the last couple days, but I think that has to do with hormones more than anything else. My only complaint is constipation (sorry, TMI!) but its not the worst in the world. I'm a little disappointed with my 25 pound weight loss in the first month, but only because I lost 16 pounds of it in the first week and since then its been a slow slog. How are all of you doing?

Surgery in 7 hrs & no results from bowel prep
Luvin_Life125 posted a topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Please help! I know it is late, but I am hoping there are a few people awake. I have my sleeve surgery in 7 hours and was told to drink a bottle of magnesium citrate as a bowel prep at 4 pm the night before surgery. The day before surgery was clear liquids only. Well I followed all instructions but the bowel prep hasn't had any effects! Sorry if this is tmi. I did have one bowel movement about half way through the bottle of magnesium citrate and it was mostly water. I just haven't had anything since and I am so worried that surgery will be delayed because of this. Can anyone tell me if they have experienced this? -
I'm sorry for the TMI, but I'm so uncomfortable from not being able to move my bowels I have hardly been able to in about 3 days. I've been taking the colace, and still no. Today I was ok, had eggs for breakfast, my bf and I went out and about and I took a protein shake with me. I drank 4oz of it and about 15 min after my last sip I was in so much pain, right in the middle of my belly. I felt like I had to go and I felt like I had to puke. We stopped at a bathroom and I couldn't do either. Pain wasn't going away so I called the nurse line. She told me to do an enema (ew!)...soo I stopped and got one, we went home, I did it, it worked a LITTLE bit, and then I took a 3 hr nap. I woke up and the pain was gone for the most part...but I still feel blah. I'm not hungry, I'm afraid to eat. I just want water and Popsicles. Idk if it's happening from eating more foods now on puree? I was going just fine last week On a happier note, I've just realized that I have lost 40 lbs since June, and 20 since surgery 2 weeks ago. I def feel better other than the belly cramps. My arthritis isn't as bad it seems, I am able to walk up the stairs and not cry. My boyfriend looked at me today and said "wow babe, you're looking really good", which made me feel good of course. As for sex...I miss it lol. We were so excited cuz I got the ok from doc last week, and then I got my period. Next week I guess lol.

6 days post op--gas pains..question!
morganamazing posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Total tmi, but nothing is helping out this gas issue. I had my last meal on Saturday nov 1. I also took a laxative that day to make sure I had nothing up there. Dr didn't even ask me to, you're welcome anyways doc. Sunday the lax kicked In, and I was on my liquid diet for that day and Monday. Tuesday I had my surgery. I woke up immediately in pain, but now that I've been dealing with the same types of pain I'm sure it was gas all along. I've walked around and continue to do so, I've taken gas x, extra strength mind you...called the number kaiser gave me if I had any questions or concerns...they called me back, I told them I had the Rouxeny done. Her response was, I don't know what that is....oh god. Finally had a few answers after she basically googled stuff, which lets be honest I've already done. Milk of magnesia...omg absolutely disgusting!!! And suppositories...nope. So I had a few tbsp of milk of magnesia...cherry flavor...:/ it did not taste like cherries. Well, that was this morning. It's almost midnight and still nothing. I'm writing because I'm hoping someone has a remedy I have yet to try. I mean if worse comes to worse I guess I'll do a suppository, but I'm pretty hesitant on that. I just want to be on the real road to recovery, not this gassy hell. It's causing so much crampy pain and discomfort, I can't even enjoy the fact my incisions are healing because the pain is horrendous. Any help or suggestions would be so very helpful. Thank you I'm advance!! -
Newbie looking for Oct sleevers!
chellede replied to Marielbx's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
For those are you who are not on FB... this is my post yesterday. PLEASE LISTEN TO ME !!!! You don't want to go through this ! two things happened today. Foamies ... and the horrible.. absolutely horrible dumping syndrome. Let me tell you folks... do not eat or drink anything new if you are not at home. Had to make an emergency stop at Whataburger and I spent at least 45 min cleaning up the walls, floors with a mop, and using lots and lots of their bleach. if it's TMI, GOOD... don't ever eat or drink anything that would cause this, it's horrible !! -
October 2014 sleevers check in please!
KarenF1972 replied to Jen - a work in progress's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hello my little October sleevers! How is everyone doing this gloomy, freezing day? My day is strange. Slept in this morning for starters. When I was laying in bed I started having some discomfort in my tummy - upper abdomen below chest. When I moved it would go away. After I got up, I was still having it a little bit. Now it's gone away for the most part but I have some shoulder pressure and a little discomfort in my back. (Some also at my lower ribs, but I had that from time to time before surgery - I think it's the way I'm sitting because moving around helps it go away.) Not sure if it's a result of being more gassy today, not having a BM for a few days (TMI!!) despite having some ground turkey/hamburger the last few nights for dinner or hitting the treadmill a little harder last night. Ugh! Eating and drinking fine though, so..... Keep on plugging on I guess. What are you all eating for meals these days? -
When will I start feeling a little more normal

14 hrs post op, gas pain but wont let me take gasx
CheleLynn45 replied to nprcowboy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I truly believe walking saved me with the gas pains. I was walking as soon as I could after surgery and every couple hours after that. I am almost two weeks post op and really never had gas pains. I must have been moving the gas pretty well cause I was "tooting" once I got home. LOL (sorry if TMI) So get out there and walk, do whatever you can. When I first got home I walked around the house in 15 min increments and as I felt better and steadier I went outside and went longer everytime. Two days ago I went back to the gym and did an hour straight on the treadmill. It felt good but I was tired. -
So I know I just had the surgery on Tuesday and its only been two days, but getting in n our of bed hurts, laughing, coughing, and deep breaths even hurt. Can anyone shed some light as to when this pain will subside. I can't walk long periods of time, or I end up more and more hunched over. My liquid codene just makes me fall asleep, and I'm already lying in bed so it hurts less anyways so to me its n making much of a difference. Also I've had stomach gas since I got out of surgery. When I was in the hospital they were the sharpest pains ever. And I still have them on and off. Sorry if its TMI, but does anyone have any suggestions to alleviate that problem at least? The pain is frustrating and I just want it to go away fast, unfortunately I know I have to wait it out, but any suggestions would be so appreciated!!! Thanks loves.

5 Days Post-op Constipation! Help!
Crystal88 replied to mnmlst's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I got lucky, I had my first stool since Halloween surgery, but....(sorry TMI), it looked a little too dark? Not sure if I should mention it to the Nurse practitioner on Monday. -
Ok this may be TMI but when after your surgery did you have your first bowel movement? Im still waiting on mine and it's been almost 72 hours post surgery.
