    3 Week Stall

I just recently broke out of a stall that lasted almost 2 weeks. I found myself wondering if when people spoke of the 3 week stall if they meant that I was going to be stalled for 3 weeks. Ugh! Being stalled is so frustrating. But hang in there, the scale will move again! Just keep rockin that sleeve!
  3. I am another victim of the dreaded 3 week stall. I was just given the OK to start the pureed/super-soft diet, Now 4 days later the scale hasn't moved at all. I am putting the scale away and now plan on weighing in once a week from here on out. I also got my clearance to restart my exercise program (walking, resistance training, and kettle bells). I am going to start these today. I would never have known about the "3rd week stall" and I would have thought I was doing something wrong if it wasn't for the great information I've gotten from this site.
  4. I didn't lose anything my second month out from surgery. I hit that dreaded 3 week stall. It lasted a few weeks, and then I began loosing again. Even after that though I only lost an average of 10 pounds a month. Keep your spirits up though, a loss is still a loss, and all of those little losses add up pretty quickly. It is also better for your skin to lose slowly, it gives your skin the chance to shrink up with you, instead of being wobbly. Losing slowly also helped me with hair loss. I only lost a little hair because my body wasn't put into such a shock mode. Good luck girl! You will get there soon enough!

    Texas Forum?

I got sleeved in Mexico 5 weeks ago. I am doing great. I have always been a fast healer and this surgery was no exception. The only issue I had was getting wore out extremely easy after moving around. I hsve lost 36 pounds. The first 32 pounds came off in the first two weeks. I just dropped the other four after a 3 week stall. I am very happy so far.
  6. Is the 2-3 week stall over ?

  7. I seem to have already hit my first weight loss plateau. Things were flying along with the scale dropping 2-3 lbs a day but as soon as I started the first day of my third week I noticed slowing. Now as that week has progressed, closed and I have started the fourth week I have not seen the scale move down at all. As a matter of fact last night it went up a pound. I am not really freaking out yet since I was ready and prepared for what they call the the 3 week stall and on top of that I am menstrating which usually causes me to retain Water and gain a few pounds for the week but I do have an important question... When does it start moving again? How long does this stall usually last? I am trying to stay positive, I am sticking to the plan but in the end if it goes for much longer I know I will start to feel discouraged. Anyone want to share I would love to hear that it will get better (even if I have to wait).

    August Sleevers?

I hit the dreaded 3 week stall last Monday but I just stayed with it. Today I weighed and I've lost 4 lbs. Whoop whoop! I look in the mirror and I'm like...who's the girl with the skinnier face looking back at me?!?! Lol! I've officially lost 30lbs. 13lbs prior to surgery and 17lbs since surgery. My starting weight was 224lbs and I'm 5'1". Current weight 194lbs. I was sleeved 8/19.

    stalling with weightloss

You're not failing. You're in the legendary 3 week stall. Almost everyone experiences it. Do a search on 3 week stall and you'll see. Just stick to your plan and it will break. Your body is just trying to catch up to the weight you lost quickly in the first two weeks. Give it a little time and keep following your plan.

    Question for Veteran Sleevers

You're in the 3 week stall. There's not much you can do about it. Just ride it out and keep doing the right things. Here's an interesting read about it.... http://www.dsfacts.com/weight-loss-stall-or-plateau.html As for calories....at your stage I would think the real goal is to get in your Protein and Water...doubtful you'll have too much room left to eat excessive calories so my thoughts would be to not try to limit yourself to an arbitrary number. You're not on a diet. But from what I've seen, 600-800 is pretty typical. And as for carbs....I always aimed for about 30% of my calories.....but only after I was hitting my minimum protein requirements. So at 600 calories that would be 45 grams of carbs...preferably green veggies and no starches.
  15. My son called for his daily chat, a time I really look forward to. He says, "How was your day?" Well I've had a lovely day. I got to go into the office, work with a team of 6 very smart people, we all got some great thinking and work done. I was able to join them in the lunch I ordered for us, and I've extremely been productive all day. What were the first words out of my mouth in response to my son's question? "Well, I'm still stalled." WTH?? That's all I can think of to tell him about my day?? So he's a very insightful smarty-pants and he says to me, "Mom it was one thing to rely on the scale when you could say 'oh maybe I should cut down a bit tomorrow' and use the scale to monitor and adjust your eating habits. But really, what role does the scale play in your life now??" For a change, I was speechless. Well he wasn't about to stop there. He carries on saying, "Maybe you should ask yourself if it's healthy to let what you see on a scale determine your feelings of success for the day? After all you're doing what you need to, and you told me you were going to focus on process vs. the outcome. Would anything change in your process if you just threw away the scale for 3 months?" No of course it wouldn't but can i throw away the scale for 3 months? I cannot. Why? Because maybe I'm sick in the head and I associate my self-worth with success or failure at pounds lost. Not what I do to succeed, but whether the scale says I've lost weight today. Unlike a lot of people here, over the last few years i could NOT lose weight. I could control my calories, my cardio-vascular health, what I put in my mouth, but I couldn't control my weight. Yet I continued to judge myself by my ability to lose weight. Not by my ability to do what was healthy, but whether or not I could lose weight. I may have been sleeved, but apparently that way of judging myself still persists. So really, I ask all of you.... if we are eating our Protein, drinking our Water, and exercising to the degree that we can, what role does or should the scale play in our lives when we're trying to lose weight? Should we not focus on the process, monitor the crap out of the protein and water and calories, and let the scale go off on a long hike to TImbuktoo? And can you do that? Why not? what do you think? (Note, I'm in the dreaded 3-week stall, I know this, I accept it, so it's not about the stall. It's about how we judge ourselves by using criteria or outcomes that are outside of our control).

    Kinda disappointed:(

I've only lost 5 lbs in the last two weeks and I'm also 4 weeks out. Same thing with my husband. I think we're just all in our 3 week stall. It would have been nicer for you if the PA would have known that, but since you know that, maybe just ignore her?

    Am I eating too much?

You are at the famous 3 week stall. About 3 weeks post ops folks go into this stall were they either stop losing or some even gain a pound or 2. Your body is trying to play catch up from on the drastic changes it has had. I nearly lost my mind during this stall because it did not make since to me. I was only eating 500-600calories " how can I not lose weight". All though I research and read that others experience this stall it still was hard to take. Just keep tracking, exercising, and drinking. You will get through it. As far as the 8 oz of yogurt goes... I would measure it just so you don't stretch things. I hope this helps.
  18. Hiya, well I just weighed myself and I've lost 4lbs this week. So that's the 3 I gained plus 1. Something tells me that this is not the infamous 3 week stall and more of a female fluid retention wobble. However, I am now at 3 weeks, soooooo watch this space.....

1 month after post op loss

I lost 18 pounds my first month. Then I hit a stall and didn't lose for a month. After that I normally lost about 8-10 pounds a month for the next 6-7 months. Everyone is different, so it is hard to compare, however most people do hit the dreaded 3 week stall, so be mentally prepared for it to come. Good luck to you! I hope your reach all of your goals!

    Taking it all in :)

HW - 310. SW - 294. CW - 274. . I had a 2 week preop diet that got the first 15 off. I've been in the famous "3 week stall" for about 6 days and haven't lost anything but that should end soon and ill start dropping again
  21. I am down a total of 37 lbs. (including preop diet) my pants are starting to get really lose especially in the legs but in my waist I can't go down a size yet. I am walking around looking like I have a load of crap in my pants. I am also still in a 3 week stall, so it's been a week. I am at 4 weeks post op today. So frustrated makes me second guess what the hell I did to myself. Thanks for letting me vent, I am just ready to drop a full size and get this show on the road...
  22. I just read somewhere about a 3 week stall. Is it possible to have this at 2 weeks? That's what seems to have happened to me......
  23. Duh...neverminf.....I now see it was July 13th. Sorry about that. "JessicaAnn".....you are probably not far enough out yet to really get the feel for your sleeve or to know you are a slow loser. If you're like most, you're probably somewhere around that 3 week stall....or just coming out of it??

    July 2013 Sleevers

Is anyone at 5 weeks out not really loosing weight? I slowed to a stop at three weeks which I assumed was the "dreaded 3 week" stall. But I am still not loosing. I have lost 2 pounds in 2 weeks. I am eating around 700-750 calories, I burn at least 200 of those daily with excercise Anyone have any advice. I am seeing the nut tomorrow to go over my fitness pal. I track everything. I don't want 26 pounds to be it.
  25. Wow...I can't believe my 3 week stall right now!!! I lost the majority of my 16lbs down in the first 2 weeks. Of which I lost like 11lbs in the first week (including pre-op diet loss), then I stalled again, starved myself (even more) to lose about 5 more and it took forever to come off. Then stalled again for the next 2 weeks, and now I've GAINED 3 lbs throwing me back at a loss of 13 lbs......what the hell!!! My calories are consistently 500-590, with 50-70g Protein, and always well under 50g carbs (average of 13-18g, not once above 25g). My fat is also very super clean saturated, and less than it needs to be...but I'm still stuck. And even gained 3 lbs. I mean, I'm 1 month out....what the hell is going on!!! I've half a mind to talk to my doctor directly about this! I am taking prilosec every single day at the recommended dose, and also take liquid antacids before each meal despite the fact that I don't have heartburn, just so that I can shut out all the comments about the whole...oh you're not hungry, its just heartburn thing! lol. I'm still hungry, and the way I can tell is that I get dizzy and lightheaded within 5-8 minutes of the hunger feeling. Yes, I'm eating a lot less often now, and much less food too (I mean flippin' 500-590 cals!!) Today, I'm doing something different and hoping it'll break this gaining/stall cycle...I'm just having Protein shakes (30g) when I get hungry and drinking more than my full 2 litres to see where that takes me. Only 1 solid meal all day, and even that is 77 calories at 11g protein, 2 carbs and 2g sat fat. And if I see anything change (going down that is) on the scale tomorrow morning (even a half decimal point lol) I'm going nuts and knocking out even that 1 solid meal and replacing it with more Water and a protein shake! If this doesn't work, I'm calling my lawyer!
