Genepro is amazing. One tablespoon and u get 30g of protein orderless and tasteless and can be put in hot or cold food. I drink a cup of hot tea in the morning to get a jumpstart on the protein and if I dont get enough food wise throughout the day then I have another cup at night. My last checkup they sd my protein levels were great. Awesome product u can ourchase on amazon or search for musclegen and by from the manufacturer plus u can order samples directly from them before you buy it.

Protein Recommendations
Elizabeth21 replied to jenniferg2013's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I weaned off shakes altogether beginning week 3, so hang in there, you won't have to deal with them forever. I also added unflavored Protein to foods/drinks to up protein intake without using shakes. (I like it in diet lemonade and bouillon.) I ordered GENEPRO from Amazon.com. One teaspoon adds 10 grams protein. Good luck! -
HELP! PROTRIN SHAKES NAUSEATE ME
Thinkingthinner1109 replied to GEAUX SAINTS's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am six months out and still rely on protein shakes. I drank them before surgery, however right after my surgery they made me nauseous. After about three weeks i tolerated them again and now i love them again. Without them I would never ever meet my protein goals. I use Unjury chocolate splendor and I also use flavorless Genepro. You can add Genepro to anything and not taste it. I will probably have to rely on protein shakes the rest of my life in order to obtain the required amount of protein. -
Difficulty with protein
Elizabeth21 replied to graceday32001's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Try adding unflavored powdered Protein to what you are eating and/or drinking. I ordered GENEPRO off of amazon.com and that worked well. A teaspoon of it adds 10 grams of protein. There are other similar products. On days when I am behind, I would add it to some diet lemonade or bouillon broth and enjoyed the very low calorie protein boost. It adds a little cloudiness to the beverage is all. Good luck! -
I ordered directly from their website but I see Amazon has it in stock again. http://smile.amazon.com/Musclegen-Research-Genepro-Genetic-Tri-Protein/dp/B00K6OSDYA/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1424358840&sr=8-1&keywords=genepro+unflavored+Protein I started with a couple sample packs and that's how I knew I was ok with it. Hoping i can still handle it post-op. I am going in for surgery on Tuesday, March 3rd in Mexico. I think that's the part I'm most nervous about, and the day of travel home. I am going with a girlfriend who had the surgery two years ago and I feel like if she can do it, so can I. I'm a trooper!

Making a Shopping List for US Visit
Bufflehead replied to MadameX's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Personally I would get some protein powder in addition to Genepro, if you can't find what you need in Sweden. I don't trust that stuff, it seems very shady to me. Also, I am not sure you can buy Genepro in brick and mortar stores, it may be only online. Cream of Wheat -- do you really want this? It's empty carbs. Why not stick with eating high protein foods? Chewable vitamins -- if your husband is near a Trader Joe's, their chewable High Potency multi-vitamins are great and very inexpensive! Any chewable calcium should be calcium citrate. Viactiv is calcium carbonate, which most bariatric surgeons say should be avoided as post-sleeve patients don't absorb it well. You may also want to look into liquid calcium citrate, which may be easier to find. I think Wellesse brand liquid calcium citrate is available at GNC, Kroger, Walmart, and some other stores. Do you like peanut butter? If so, maybe have your husband pick up some PB2 if you can't get it in Sweden. It's good to mix into shakes, yogurt, and cottage cheese for some extra flavor, protein, and fiber. Can you get sugar free fiber powder in Sweden? If not, that might be something to consider having him get as well. Good luck! I am sure you will do great. -
Hi! I am scheduled for a gastric sleeve next month on March 24 and I live in Sweden -I'm from Florida originally : )) . My husband is traveling to Texas the week before my surgery so I am making a shopping list for him of things to get for after my surgery. A lot of items I read about on this forum are not available here in Sweden. I'm so thankful for everyone posting here on BariatricPal as the info you get here in Sweden for after the surgery is very minimal. They stitch your incisions up and send you out the next day with some very basic guidelines for eating and drinking. Have check ups at 6 weeks, 6 months, 1 year and then yearly after that for life. It's very different here...!! If you have any recommendations or something that you think really helped please reply! Here's the list: Gas X Strips (will ask my husband to buy several boxes as my friend with IBS is very eager to try this too! haha) GENEPRO unflavored Protein powder (how long does a bag last?) Chewable Vitamins (?? so many brands) Chewable Calcium (Viaktiv??) sublingual B12 (here you get pills) Biotin (figure it can't hurt) Tightening moisturizer Aveeno (worth a try!) Crystal Light Cream of Wheat

Glad to hear you didn't have much pain, I am sooo nervous! Have you tried any unflavored protein? I like the Genepro, barely has a taste in flavored water or gatorade. And you only need 1 tbs for 30g of protein.

What's your favorite tried and true go to meals or snacks?
chip305 replied to Debbieduck4's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I make a crustless quiche that I eat everyday. You can change up the flavor profile by what you add. My favorite is bacon, swiss, green onion, roasted red peppers and mushrooms. 5 eggs 1 C cottage cheese Any cheese, veggies, seasoning or meat you want to add. I also add 1 or 2 scoops GENEPRO to up the Protein. Just whip together and pour into a greased pie pan. Bake at 400 F for about 30 - 35 minutes. Makes 6 good size portions. -

Just wondering what everyone's favorite meals and Snacks are... getting a little bored and wanting to try some new things! I'm going grocery shopping tomorrow so looking for ideas I'm mostly looking for quick and easy Breakfast, lunch, and snack ideas that I can take with me to work. I make lots of new recipes for dinner and on the weekends... Here's my regulars in case anyone else wants new ideas: Breakfast is one of 4 things usually: 1. Protein shake 2. oatmeal with spoon of GENEPRO added 3. Greek Yogurt with nuts 4. Egg and cottage cheese Snacks are usually: Cheese and a few Nut thins Greek yogurt Veggies and Hummus Almonds For lunch I always just take leftovers from dinner.... Forgot to say that i mostly eat vegetarian with some seafood occasionally -
They gave me the okay to start Protein with milk yesterday, 4 days post-op. So far what I did is I use 8oz Simply Smart fat free milk (10 grms. protein) plus vanilla unjury (21 grms. of protein) plus I put a scoop of GENEPRO (unflavoured protein) which has 30 grms. of protein so in those 8 oz. I can get the required 60 grms. of protein for the day. I do not love the flavor but I am not really carzy about Protein shakes. Once I can start with yogurts and the other stuff I am planning on just using the Genepro unflavoured protein in yogurt, cream soups, etc., I have tried it before and it really does not change the texture or taste.

I have a large cup of decaf every day with a scoop of Genepro protein, a couple of teaspoons of powdered creamer, and an ounce of Jordan's Skinny Syrups in Caramel. LOVE it!

Genepro Users-check this out.
Thinkingthinner1109 replied to Stevehud's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
I have used Genepro along with other protein powders since my surgery. I had my labs drawn at 6 months and my protein was excellent! I only get about 20 proteins with food since I cannot eat enough to get in 80 grams of protein. My way of thinking is if it wasn't working my protein levels would have been way low because I count it toward my daily protein intake. And I have had no hair loss or any other side effects. So for the me it WORKS! And I will continue the use of Genepro. And no I don't don't work for them nor am I paid by them. Just my experience. -
Genepro Users-check this out.
brazos2425 replied to Stevehud's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
Please don't knock a product until you have tried it. Me and three other sleevers all use Genepro EXCLUSIVELY daily. Love it in our soymilk and in our beans and cheese. It has been approved by our surgeons, and we all are well within our normal protein ranges up to 6 months post op. I will continue to use this product and feel confident in its content. -
thanks, girl i think you're safer doing it your way. i don't eat and i said screw protein too. i take a bite of my sons food and then i drink water and juice mixed all day. im basically on a no nutrition liquid diet. yesterday for the first time in forever i made a concoction of oj with pulp and water with genepro and it was ok, i just try to keep my fluids up. i had half a snack wrap for dinner one day and the other half for breakfast, it didnt do anything to me so i guess il get another one tonight. i also had stew beef earlier today and i was nauseous so i know i wont do it again. amy, im almost 6ft lol

Anyone scheduled with Dr. Alejandro Lopez at VIDA Hospital Feb or March
mdlange replied to SleevedNFree's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
@@SleevedNFree I work from home and can hop on this site whenever I see someone has posted, so this is probably the best way to reach me. Also, DO NOT worry about Tijuana. I arrived a full day before my surgery and had the chance to wander around. It is a cool town! I never once felt threatened or unsafe. Cabs and buses abound, lots of english speaking folks, everyone is very friendly. My husband was able to sample a new restaurant every evening, the guys at the Marriott were great about references. He bought lights for our home, lots of souvenirs, and wandered around the Walmart with is between the hospital and the hotel. He said everyone was great! Today is 1 week 1 day for me. I am having zero difficulty drinking my 64 ounces. I am adding GENEPRO powder to anything I drink so I am getting plenty of Protein. I had egg drop Soup yesterday and did just fine. I have had a few bites of chicken breast and had zero problems. I have never puked or even felt nauseous. I was so worried that everything about me would change, and so far, except for feeling tired in the afternoons, everything is normal. Except I don't devour every morsel of food I can see! I have not felt hungry even one time! -
Favorite Liquid Diet Food/Drink
TEXASLADY52 replied to Curlideb's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
During my liquid pre-op stage I drank a lot of Atkins. It was thick and fillling. I loved the Dark chocolate Royale. I even drinked them after surgery when I was having problems finding a Protein drink that I could tolerate. Now I drink GENEPRO...it is oderless and tasteless. I mix it with Crystal LIght and sip on it all day. I could not stand the taste of Premier after my surgery.....it was too chalky for me. I love them now.....your taste keeps changing. -
6 weeks out 41lbs down.. whoo-hoo!
Addawn replied to melissa'sjourney's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm so happy for you!!! You are doing GREAT!!! I am using Genepro unflavored protein, 1 small scoop has 30 grams of protein and you can put it in anything including coffee and soups. I mix it in pudding as well. -
When does the nauseousness stop?
DarleneCh replied to Jlkhollins's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I absolutely could not do the protein drinks after surgery either. Genepro (you can buy on amazon) has been a lifesaver. Truly tasteless and it dissolves in hot tea well. It is expensive - but worth every penny to me. Good luck - I hope the nausea gets better soon. -
Need practical advice (long)
DarleneCh replied to amyecpa's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Genepro has absolutely saved me. Is it the best option compared to real protein? Probably not.... But I can put it in hot decaf fixated tea and it completely dissolves. I still drink 2 cups a day - each scoop is 30 G protein. Take care and know it gets better. -
Ladies...it will get better I promise! You just have to give it time...be patient with your new tummy.. I had my gall bladder and the sleeve done at the same time on 12/17/14..I had atleast 4 breakdowns...thought it was the worst decision of my life...I am still struggling with the protein and liquids but I am determined to get it right...b12 for energy it has helped me tremendously. ..make sure you are chewing chewing chewing...I still can't enjoy lots of foods but the ones I can I eat the heck out of them...lol...as soon as you feel full stop eating even if it is not the amount intended...let your tummy be your guide...I just ordered genepro on amazon going to try that... I am taking this (pic below) to help with hair loss until I can get my proteins right...can't tolerate shakes...I just woke up one day and things were better... I hope you both feel better soon!!!

HELP How do I get all my protein?
Thinkingthinner1109 replied to chip305's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I would never be able to get enough protein without my protein drink (I cannot eat that much). I use Unjury chocolate splendor and a scoop of ûnflavored Genepro in 8 ounces of water shake it up in a blender bottle and get it really cold. I love it. And I didn't think I would ever stomach another protein drink, but since about 1 1/2 months out I drink one a day, with the two proteins I get about 51 grams of protein. My levels are excellent and my NUT said she didn't care if I had to supplement my diet with protein drinks for the rest of my life. I wonder why some NUT's don't want people to drink protein drinks. All my other meals are high in protein also. Mostly 2 ounces of lean meat and I am full. For snacks I usually have a few nuts. -
