Good morning all. I had my second fill this past Thursday. The doctor didn't use a numbing shot this time but it wasn't painful at all. I did notice my port site to be tender the next day but not bad. With my first fill I had little restriction the first week then nothing after. This morning I made an egg, mushrooms, and spinach ( 1 cup total) . Yummy but OMG I ate maybe half of it and I'm stuffed...so stuffed I was scared I was going to have my first stuck episode. Felt like I had a lump in my throat and my mouth started watering (tmi). I walked around a bit, and said a prayer, promising I would eat much slower if I didn't get stuck. It went away after 5 mins. I have to admit I'm a bit sad I didn't get to finish eating because it was really tasty. I'm guessing this is part of the process. I keep thinking if I didn't have my wonderful band how much I would have ate just this morning.

@Bronxmerci: I can really relate to your experience! I had the same thing: an upper GI bleed. (I have posted this in more detail in other threads under my user name.) This was after having complications and an extended hospital stay for the RNY surgery. I was slowly bleeding to death that first month after surgery. I kept telling my health care team that something was wrong. (At the risk of TMI, I was only passing black goo.) But no one was listening. I felt like my epitaph would read like that one on Boot Hill, "I told you I was sick!" A month after surgery, I was getting up for work like I had been for a week before, and I felt too weak to continue. I told my wife I'd call in sick. She took one look at me and said I was "cadaver yellow", in her words. She told me to lay down because she was calling 911. Within five minutes, five paramedics showed up at my house. They checked me out and told me I was going to the hospital by ambulance. My first ambulance ride. Yay. At the hospital, they did an upper GI and cauterized the upper GI bleeders. I stayed in the hospital after that too. Now I can almost laugh about it. My health care team said it put me about a month behind a normal recovery. I'm still not sure about that. It might have been more. But I'm healthy now. I don't have to take all the meds I used to. I'm not using CPAP. I'm not pre-diabetic anymore. Last September I even completed my first ever "half-century" (50 mile) bike ride--Spokefest 2014! It does get better. Even for those of us who've had complications. It will get better for you too.

Which Doctors In Mexico Will Also Take Out Gall Bladder At The Same Time?
slvrsax replied to Proud2BMe's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
I just had mine out here in the US a few weeks ago. Ariel Ortiz did my sleeve last December but I never asked re: gall bladder. I didn't want to push my luck. My surgeon who took it out said that there was a stone in it almost as large as my gall bladder itself (I know TMI) and there was no way that my weight loss caused my stones - that they had been forming for a number of years. The recovery was fine. Funny, I had terrible gas pains after gall bladder removal, but not after my sleeve. Go figure I'm 3 weeks out of gall bladder surgery and will be returning to cardio tomorrow, but no weights for a few more weeks. -
I'm alive!!! Yay! No cramping or anything crazy! I did "go" but just normal, there's not a whole lot in my belly anyway. So glad I could share all my TMI with everyone! Lol! So I think the tea is safe..I don't know if I will drink it again because I don't want to push my luck but I'm good: )

4 Days Post Op...need some HELP!
TieraLeone posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So im 4 days post op surgery date was Dec 3rd. I was released from the hospital after two nights. I am still having a lot of pain, I actually went back to the ER the other night b/c the pain was more than I could bare. I have stronger meds now and I'm doing some what better. I am 25 and childless so I think I was not prepared at all for the pain. I am doing okay on my liquid diet I am really having a hard time drinking the NASTY Premier Protein drinks. I am mostly drinking Water, crystal light, sugar free Jello, and unsweetened applesauce. Im noticing that i have to really slow down when consuming anything. I am trying to walk as much as I can but it hurts my stomach to move around too much. I do hsve a few questions some my be a little TMI.. sorry 1. I am supposed to be consuming 60 grams of protein a day I'm getting about half that due to the fact I really hate the premier shakes and when I drink them my chest hurts. Any high concentrated shakes anyone can recommend? (Btw I hate chocolate anything and anything milk tasting) 2. I have not had a bowel movement since dec 2nd the night before my surgery so 6 days should I be concerned? 3. I quit smoking cigarettes before the surgery, ever since leaving the hospital I have been having extreme urges... what would happen if i have just one? 4. My stomach, beasts, and sides are really itchy especially around the incision areas. Is that normal? 5. How long should I wait for sex I am still quite sore but I just want to make sure its all in working order lol. I know this is a looong post God Bless you if you have time to skim it and help a chick out! Thanks in adavnced -Tiera -
I hope Bronxmerci is ok too! Praying for her! Happy Birthday @@layknee I have found a new snack that my tummy loves, they are Multigrain hummus garlic tortilla chips, with a little sweet onion salsa...omg so yummy! I had half a cheeseburger tonight for dinner, a few fries with it, all made at home...and I didn't get nauseous from it, but I think I had just a couple bites too many, cuz I was just uncomfortable for a little bit after. I had to pace back and forth up and down the hallway so I didn't make myself "think" I was going to throw up. I tend to dry heave alot when my tummy feels icky :-/ Tomorrow is Monday tho, so I'm hoping to hear back about the liver stuff! On another note, sorry if it's tmi lol, but this last week and a half or so, I've been moving my bowels somewhat normally, without the help of any suppository lol. I still take my Colace once, sometimes twice a day, but that's it. It's a relief!

Hi. I had my sugary yesterday morning and still haven't pooped(tmi I'm sorry) should I be concerned?

I've finally begun to date again. The first guy was gushy about thinking that we were made for each other and even mentioned eventual marriage... on the FIRST date! I didn't go out with him again. I've just met someone a week ago who is pretty nice, but he has been calling and texting me much more than I am comfortable with and is also talking about when "he and I can become we". It has only been a week! He is also very physical and I feel like I'm starting to have to insist on not being so touchy feely. Is this normal? I'm almost to the point where I don't want to date, and am wondering if it is just me or just the luck of the draw in meeting these two guys. Also.... (TMI alert)... I don't like french kissing and both of these guys seemed to want to chase my tonsils down my throat! Forgive my rant. I'm just not quite able to handle myself in this area yet, especially in handling the kissing issue. Any suggestions?

joatsaint replied to aidansmom's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
This may be TMI but when was the last time you pooped? I don't go but every 3 to 4 days and tend to increase in weight a little until I get rid of my payload. -
After surgery....
Tired_of_being_Tired replied to pw725's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You will be fine alone. I was alone during the day and actually was happy about it because the gas gods were not good to me. It sounded like a shooting range in my house, but since I was alone, I didn't worry about it. (and I am happy to report no animals were hurt by the cross fire) Sorry if that was TMI! I had my surgery on a Thursday, was released from the hospital on Saturday, was off 1 full week and back to work on the following Monday, with no problems, and most importantly, no gas heehee! Good luck! You will be just fine -
Calling January Sleever????
Veronica Page replied to time for june's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So I have manage to stick to my diet for 4 days which is nothing right? lol Yeah well I did actually lose 4lbs already which I suppose could either be water weight or bathroom weight...yea tmi I know but hey I guess I do need to flush out the excess waste i'll still take it. I just hope I can keep it up cause to be honest the whole protein shake everyday thing is getting boring. I'm bored of the tastes but I manage to mix it up with dinner. Tons of veggies to keep my stomach moving otherwise they said I would get blocked up. and I have been choosing to do chicken and fish. I hope everyone is having an easy time with theirs. -
November Surgery Dates Anyone? Let's Connect!
ready2B replied to Dabliss111114's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
@@Dabliss111114 - I am so sorry to hear about your father-in-law. Recovering from surgery is stressful enough without all you have gone through lately. Hugs to you and your family. I've been doing better the past couple of days - finally! It was a rough 4 days there, but thankfully that was short. TMI alert: I finally blench a BIG air bubble up as I was throwing up and I think that was the cause of my 4 day puking spree. My nausea went away after that. Since then I've been forcing small burps throughout the day to keep that from happening again. So far, so good. I got out today and did a lot of walking in Target. :-) I really do need to get out more. I had more energy since I can keep food down better. I was also dragging emotionally - it was frustrating nor being able to eat, not feeling like doing things, missing some of my favorite foods and probably having a minor pity party. Not full-blown really because I am extremely grateful that everything has gone so well, so more like a pout! -
So tell me are still hungry after have sleeve Surgery?
Eclectick replied to Sexy Granni's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Well, I don't think anything is stuck, I didn't eat that much at all, maybe a bite or two...but right after, I used the restroom and it seemed to be coming right out (TMI) I know it was a burp trying come out..because as soon as I was able to get the burp out I was right as rain. I know I shouldn't have tried to eat anything..but for the most part it was mushy..I didn't eat anything that wouldn't be on my next phase..I just phased up before my time I guess. the paperwork Dr. gave to me said progress to the next phase when you think you are ready...so that's what I did. I am back on Protein drinks and feel perfectly fine...again..not getting in the Water I should...I knew that would be my challenge since pre-op I was never a Fluid drinker...I had to force fluids down...But now I am aware of my challenge time to get off the soap box and just do it!! -
Maybe TMI, but tell me about your experience with constipation! And Help?
Recycled replied to sleevingit1994's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Relax, it's certainly not "TMI". Most of us have been there and others that are lurking are surely dealing with some sort of constipation. If it's not blocked yet, try the stool softeners. If it's past that, your might try Magnesium Citrate. You can get it a Walgreens or any drugstore in a small bottle like a flavored drink. Refrigerate it and try to drink it all down at once. (it' has a little bitter taste, kinda like unsweetened kool-aide) Then drink as much Water as you can afterwards. It will usually start working in a couple hours. It is very gentle and cleans you out completely. More importantly, it works. Quickly. I usually keep a couple of bottles in the Fridge in case things get past the point of no return........I consider it more valuable than gold. -
I'm 6 weeks out. How many of you gastric bypass people dump?
Jolisue replied to brown eyed gal's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I dump! ???????? However, my issue seems to be diarrhea without all the heart rate increase, cramping, etc. I have had a really hard time, and get stuck in a cycle, almost like IBS. Sorry for the TMI, but I would love to know if there are others out there like me. -
Maybe TMI, but tell me about your experience with constipation! And Help?
sleevingit1994 posted a topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm 2 weeks post-op from my VSG, and I was doing AWESOME. Until Monday. I just woke up feeling yucky. I was nauseous, and I was supposed to be started soft foods, so I made myself some eggs and cheese for Breakfast. I could not get them down. It was like they just stuck in my esophagus and wouldn't go anywhere. I thought this was just because they were new or maybe too dry, so I tried a Protein drink for lunch and got a few sips in before it started not wanting to go down either. This worried me, obviously. It would probably be useful to mention that I haven't been able to burp when I needed to since surgery. This was a problem the first week, but once most of the gas was gone, I barely noticed. Since Monday I've barely been able to get anything down. I realized yesterday, though, that I don't think I have used the bathroom (#2) since either Friday or Saturday. Obviously not a good thing. So I took some stool softeners last night, and I've gone a little bit but I still can't really get anything down. I was wondering if anyone else had similar feelings with their constipation (because I know that it is very common) or if the pain that I'm feeling might actually be coming from something else? Just to summarize: Since Monday, anything I try to eat feels like it gets stuck in my esophagus, and it hurts. I'm hoping this is due to the constipation. -
What is the average weight loss per week?
SuzeMuze replied to little_mrs's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@@little_mrs We're all here to help, listen, commiserate and celebrate! It's really hard not to compare yourself with others here- I still do it at times, wondering how someone else who had their surgery at about the same time as me has lost so much more weight than I have before I shake my head and put things into perspective. Yep, I'm losing weight, which is fantastic. But what's even better is my blood sugars have dropped to normal proportions, my hip doesn't hurt anymore, and I actually saw the light (literally) between my thighs after I put on pantyhose the other day! (TMI for some, but hey, it was a major victory dance in the bathroom for me) Those kinds of things put a smile on my face- I try not to stare at scale numbers and attach my success to them. -

Treatment for gatritia and helicobacter b4 surgery?
Alfie replied to nmorenol's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi there, My surgery is on December 9th. Yes, I have h-pylori which along with it comes the gastritis. I am on 3 different meds that I have to take every 12 hours. The names of the meds are: amoxicillin 500 mg, clarithromycin 500 mg and omeprazole 40 mg which is Prilosec. What are the names of the meds you are taking? I am on day 7 of these meds plus on my pre liquid diet of Optifast and boy am I suffering with horrible diarrhea. Sorry for the TMI. I can't even leave my house. I sent my daug in law out to get me yogurt (which I'm not supposed to have on the pre liquid) but it did slow it down.Thankfully. Did you already start the meds? Hopefully, you won't have the same reaction as me. I usually am very sensitive to antibiotics in that way. -
Maybe a subject that is TMI but one that I def need to discuss. I am 10 days post op, have had no problems having a BM on my own (without the daily milk of magnesia my MD recommends) just having liquid bowel movements (eww that sounds horrible), I am thinking that is because I am still on a liquid diet, but at what point is it considered diarrhea if every bowel movement you have is liquid? Maybe if it increases in frequency? Also I feel like I have had a couple of episodes of dumping syndrome, I ate broccoli cheddar Soup (well blended -- also I know not the healthiest selection but it was Thanksgiving and I wanted a soup that was actually tasty -- and my favorite) and immediatley after was hit with the very painful need to go to poop (which I did -- and then my soup was gone out the other exit) any thoughts on avoiding dumping? When do you resume normal poops!?! I need to know hahah

Where are the November Sleevers?
Dreamingofhealth replied to ToccoraVSG's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Thank you all for your advice! I did get sick, it was scary but it didn't hurt as bad as I anticipated. This is TMI, but it was only bile and Water that came up. After I got sick I instantly felt better. Today is a new day! I am at home now, which is so nice. I tried having some Jello, pudding and milk and boost... they all tasted horrible! I'm allowed to be on "full liquids" and it all tastes like crap. So all I've had is 2 cups of water...it's not great, but tomorrow I will do better! What were you able to drink the first 2-4 days out of surgery? What tips helped you get your water and Protein in? And we're you able to meet those requirements? Thanks a million guys! Sheena :-) -
Question. Yesterday I was constipated TMI, that's fixed but today I have been having the worst pain in my pouch feels like someone is trying to turn it inside out or something. Tried to eat one thing today and was ok but also nauseous and burping a lot. What's the deal? Tomorrow is my first day back at work and it's a 12hr shift and I'm the only pharmacist there. This is the worst I've felt since surgery...any thoughts??? Help?

What five things would you tell a newbie........
Jolisue replied to lovedXJesus's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi, I'm 9 weeks post op, RNY. 1) follow the rules your team gives you. Mine are, Protein first, then veggies, carbs last, if you have room. Nothing to eat or drink 30 minutes before or after a meal. 2) don't graze! You won't lose weight, and you'll wonder why. 3) be honest with yourself. 4) log your food! 5) measure your food! 6) be honest. It bears repeating! I have to honest with myself and you, I have eaten carbs, grazed, didn't log... I read these posts so I remember! Good luck! Oh I wouldn't trust a fart either. I have experienced some embarrassing moments because I did! Ugh! Sorry if tmi.
