  1. What can I do to start the scales moving again? I have not really lost any numbers on the scale in a week & I have been walking two times a day????. Ready for them to start moving again, I have about another 40-50 lbs to get rid of.

    HELP! Sleeved 8/27/14.....scale not moving!

Welcome to the 3 week stall.. don't fret it will move, just keep doing all the right things. You may want to take some measurements they are much more accurate than a scale will be.

    WL @ 1 month post-op?

I lost 21 pounds in the pre-op, 5 pounds the first week, and then hit a near 3 week stall after that. Luckily now at 8 weeks post-op I haven't had another stall *fingers crossed*

No weight loss in 4 days

Doubtful it's anything more than the normal 2-3 week stall that most every weight loss patient experiences. Your body can't continue to lose 1-2 pounds a day, and stalls will happen. Just keep getting in your fluids and protein as best you can.
  5. I had my vsg on 11/3/2017 and in my first 2 weeks, I lost 17 pounds which was great. I as some issues so I was limited to chicken broth, Premier Protein shakes, apple juice, tea and Gatorade. Then when I was supposed to move into phase 2, I started taking Prilosec and zofran but couldn't have much more besides the occasional soft boiled egg, butternut squash & grits. I had to stay on liquids because I was vomiting often and had severe heart burn from even the simplest things like Water. I'm now on week 5 and I vomit daily. The doctor isn't too concerned. I'm moving around because I work in retail so I'm on my feet during the day. But I stopped losing weight & I can't understand why because I'm barely eating. In fact, I'm consistently vomiting. Should I be tracking my calories? Is this just the standard 3 week stall everyone talks about? I'm not eating "food" yet so why wouldn't I have a deficit? I can finally tolerate water without heartburn so I'm trying to get as much as I can in. But what else could I be doing? I'm also constipated and I can't seem to get my system moving. This wasn't a problem at first but now I get tired and dizzy sometimes and that's starting to concern me. Any suggestions to get my body back to normal? No more vomiting? Bowels moving? And how can I get the weight loss going again?

    Weight Stand Still

research the 3 week stall. It is very common, and it wont be the last stall either. Your body needs time to catch up and even when the scale is not dropping you are most likely losing inches. Did your doc or nut talk about stalls at all? I am curious because this questions pops up everyday and a bunch of us were wondering if doctors weren't telling their patients.
  8. 259 this an boy talk about feeling like this was a mistake! I have done this kind of lost and gain without a surgery that nearly killed me. Ugh!!! So week 1 and 2 I lose 19lb Week 3 I gain 2lbs!!!!! What will week 4 bring that begins today?? I feel like my doctor will think I did not follow my program which I am 100% I curse you 3 week stall I curse you!!!!!!

    Who Else Is Not Losing?

Your body is healing. You are retaining water, you have changed your diet drastically, and your glycogen stores are depleted and recharging. It's called the 3 week stall even though some of us have it at 2 or 4 weeks and a rare few of us don't have it. Don't change things. Just keep following your bariatric team's plan.
  10. I got the 3 week stall and was fine with it knowing it would pass . I didn't freak out I just went with it. So why am I freaking out over this stall at 8 weeks. Did anyone else have a stall at this time? I know I am able to eat more but obviously I am still nut eating anywhere near what I used to and only drinking water so having no calories from liquids. I also went back to work 2 weeks ago when the stall started so I'm sure that has something to do with it.
  11. Oh Tracey, the much-dreaded 3-week stall is just a week late for you. Search this site for "three-week stall" and you will feel so much better--we all have it in one way, form, or fashion. It will pass. Just keep doing what you're supposed to do and hang in there. The time AFTER the stall breaks is some of the fastest loss you'll experience, so fun times are ahead!

Plateau for the last few days...help!

Since the day of surgery I've been living in fear of the dreaded 3 week stall. I hit 2 weeks tomorrow and start mushies next Tuesday. I'm praying the 3 week stall isn't too devastating. I joined a gym today and start working out tomorrow so (prayerfully) that will help give my body the boost it needs to lose as much as I can before the 3rd week arrives. @@twinmommy83 keep us posted on your progress. Other than our heights our stats are so similar it will be nice to have someone to chat about this whole thing with. good luck!!
  13. Just hit my 3 week stall - like the scale did not budge the whole week. Because of this site, I'm not even trippin' If I haven't said it before, thanks!!! Luckily, I'm only weighing in on Thursdays. This too shall pass as they say....
  14. Are you building muscle from your walking? I have also heard many people talk about the 3 week stall. Just stay focused and the weight will continue to fall off.

    6 Weeks 2 Days Postop.

I'm not complaining about the amount I have lost just not liking this 3 week stall. A pound a week would be ok with me

    How Long?

I have answered questions about that dreaded 2-3 week stall for new post ops but now I am 9 months out and have not moved an ounce in 4 weeks. I know this is a stall and I know I have not lost all my weight, and I know that I am not eating enough to maintain this weight but of course my head wants to know HOW LONG??? For those of you past this point who have dealt with stalls like this, how long did yours last? These head games are the roughest part!!!
  17. You are right on schedule for the 3 week stall. You can read about it in the "Don't Sweat the Stall Stuff" subforum. You should move your post there. And I can't say this enough..... It's really very simple. Get in all your Water and Protein, follow the meal plan, GET OFF THE scale, just trust the process, and you WILL lose!

    Help Not Loosing Anymore

I went thru the 3 week stall and now I'm in a 5 week stall......it is frustrating but I try and remember that before the sleeve I was in a lifetime stall........ I was sleeved on march 21 and weighed 258 on surgery day and am only down 238. Some people say well u coulda saved all that money and done that on your own but I couldn't of because I was a food addict. Idk I am upset but all I can do is try harder.
  19. Yup the 3 week stall is a real downer. . I remember getting rid of my scales and only weighing at the doctor appts. . . this was such a great thing for me. . . i was always so happy to get to the doctor appts and then the high it put me on for the rest of the day was always so great. . . now that i'm 15 months out and am done with the WLS doctor, I weigh myself and still only do that once a week. . . of course after losing 150 lbs it is alot slower (I MEAN A LOT SLOWER) but i reached the doctors weight loss goal and now am working on my own personal one. . . so I've got the rest of my life to do that. . . .it'll come off, slow is better then zippy fast too. . . good luck! and like they say, mix it up. . . one day add a bit more calories the next day lower it, stick in a exercise routine too

  21. Conduct a search of the terms "three-week stall," "third week stall" and "3 week stall." Yes, this phenomenon is so common it has a name. Most sleevers stall sometime between the second and fourth week post-op. Now, here's the hard part: stay off the scale for a few weeks and allow your body to sort out the trauma it's been through. Always expecting a daily or weekly loss is unrealistic. Post-sleeve weight loss happens in a non-linear, unpredictable manner: we lose a few pounds, hold onto some, then stall and plateau and even gain water weight at times before losing again. Be patient with the process. Good luck to you.
  22. I'm snarky, grumpy, discouraged and generally just over this whole sleeve thing tonight. I think I'm PMSing too. I've been on these boards for months. I've read everything to prepare myself. Yet I wasn't exactly prepared for just how frustrating this first stall was gonna be. Please, tell me cutting 80% of my stomach out was a good idea and that this will eventually work. I know I'm whining. How can the human body eat so little and not lose weight??????? I'll go to bed now and hope for some kind of improvement in mood tomorrow. It's gonna get better. Right?

    sleeved 11/30/16

I was sleeved same day and have lost 35 since then I think whatever you are doing you are doing right! I had an almost 3 week stall and sometimes it's unavoidable - good job! I want you to tell me what you are doing so I can have a 60lb loss!
  24. Hi everyone, I'm 11 weeks out (this Wednesday) and still having discomfort when eating or drinking anything. The discomfort ranges from mild to moderate and sometimes, severe. It's never really "painful", just feels like I have to burp REALLY bad, even though I feel like I'm constantly burping the second I put food in my mouth, followed almost always by a stomachache within a half hour or so. My gut is always making a TON of noise too! I also feel like I'm getting conflicting info from my surgeon and his team (PA, nurse, dietician, etc.). I had a telemed visit with my surgeon about two weeks ago. He's the most laidback and easy-going of the bunch. He encouraged me to eat anything and everything I want (within reason & making healthy choices), but to be prepared for unexpected reactions. He basically said I have to "live and learn" what I can now tolerate. Of course, he also stressed small, slow-paced, well-chewed bites & portions. I even mentioned that I had a couple sips of a margarita a few weeks ago and his response was a laugh and "I bet that tasted good!" - not the scolding I expected. (BTW, that is the ONLY alcohol I've had since surgery.) I told him about the severe burping and stomachaches and he said that it will pass, but could take up to a year to totally go away. He wasn't the least bit concerned about it. For whatever reason, his PA followed up with me the next day (not sure why, as I had just talked to him) and she was way more strict, almost condescending, telling me NO pasta, NO bread, NO rice, NO sugar, NO crackers, etc. The surgeon himself said I could have those things in moderation if they agree with me and as long as I'm continuing to lose weight. I'm still eating super healthy, getting my protein and fluids in for the most part (it's hard when I know it will make me uncomfortable) and I'm still losing weight (down 31.5# since DOS, and that includes a 3-week stall). I guess I'm confused as to who to listen to - not to mention surprised that people on the same team have such conflicting guidance. Thoughts?
  25. So glad I found this thread. I was sleeved 3/18 n my first post-op appt was last week n I had lost 15 lbs in 2 weeks. I was elated. Today I didnt have an appt but had to stop by my drs office to pick up a paper n decided to weigh myself. Only lost 3lbs since last week. I know thats good but I feel it should be more. Now reading thru this thread I see alot of ppl hit a 3 week stall. This is y I refuse to buy a scale. Lol I was also wondering about daily calorie intake. I average 400-600 calories daily. Waiting on my NUT to advise me on this. I also track my Protein n I'm getting my 60 grams of protein in. I try to eat high protein foods such as eggs, cottage cheese n Beans.
