    During Weight Loss

Pictures of me as I reach my goal
  2. It has been a week and a half since surgery and I have lost only about 8 pounds. From what I have seen and heard from others about their weight loss, this doesn't seem like the norm. What am I doing wrong?

I'd rather lose the 8 lbs than gain 8 pounds....lose the word "only" when it comes to losing weight because "only" minimizes your awesome accomplishment.

  3. I am SO SO SO confused!!!! From day one the doctor told me I was having a revision!! He was going to do a combination of a bypass and DS because of my BMI. So since June I thought I had a DS... (surgery was actually done by another doctor in his office)....today I found out that I had a Malabsorbtion Bypass and no DS???? So all the study and research I did on the DS was in vain!!!!! He told me that the reason I was doing the DS was that the greater percentage of weight loss and the lower percentage of likely hood to gain it back!!!! Right now I am just numb!!! I have a call into his office to find out why??? and why I wasn't told???? This may make sense as to why I still can eat!!!!

  4. My weight loss has stalled the last two weeks and it's only been a month since my surgery. I'm down 27 lbs so I shouldn't complain but I'm getting upset about it moving so slow.

I am in the same boat. My surgery was June 24. Initially I was losing 1 pound/day, but I realize that a lot of that was fluid and swelling from the surgery. Now I am at about 1 pound/every 3 days. My complaint is that I am still very low energy and nauseas. I was hoping that with nearly 30 pounds gone and 5 weeks post op, I would have been feeling better.

I was very lucky that the surgery recovery was smooth sailing. No nausea and started eating solids week two as per the doc. I'm feeling good. I just thought the weight would fall off but you know what? It took years to gain it all so losing it will take time. Doc said it's better to lose 2 lbs a week than lose it fast and your skin sags. I weighed myself this morning and I finally dropped 2 lbs so I guess it will work out. Keep me posted on your progress.

  5. wao i really tho my weight lost eventually was going to speed up.. but nothing.. losing about 1 per week.. no bueno. i was hopping for an amazing weight loss story to post.. but no.. i guess i just have to look at thr positive in it.. at least im not gaining weight :)

I am the same way. No major weight losses since the first month out, just slow, slow, slow, and steady. No weight gains - good, but no major weight losses either.

  6. To whom much is given, much is required. I feel so blessed to be placed in this position. Two year post sleever, 155 pounds down and my life quality is soooo amazing! Thank you Lord for this opportunity! It is now my turn to give back. I have found my passion through this journey. If you have any questions, feel free to message me. I am now a health coach and owner/operator of a nutrition club. Pre or Post-op weight loss, Weight loss stalls, etc. I want to help!

Everyone is nervous. Scared of the surgery itself. Possible pains/discomforts. And what if it fails. Been there. You'll be great. If you have any questions, feel free to hit me up anytime! :)

Thank you Nychibberts! It is definitely awesome. I just came back from Florida. I took my daughter to Universal Studios, Disney World and Lego Land all in one week! No back pain! No hip pain! No swollen ankles! NOTHING! I was able to ride everything with her! What a blessing! Even the airplane ride to and from. I did not require a seatbelt extension and I didn't make the person next to me uncomfortable. Love It!

Thank you!! I am so close to that 1st 100lbs! It is only the half way point for me while it is the finish line for others. I am so grateful to be where I am though. I lost a whole runway model.

    3. AuriP

      AuriP

The runway model thing made me laugh. Although that is kind of sad, to have to be that tall and skinny at the same time is just as bad as being obese. The majority of society doesn't look at it that way though. We all know that the majority of them have to work superhard to stay that thin.

Congrats on the loss of a whole runway model!

  9. logging a 4 lb loss since friday. its weird not gaining weight over the weekend like i used to!

  13. had my first fill on Friday. Don't think it went too well. Dr. wanted me to drink water to make sure it went down while he made adjustments. I had really hard burps forming which distracted from my ability to sense if the water was going down. Or maybe I was just nervous about the process. not sure how many cc I got. Dr. says if there is not weight loss by the end of the week we'll try again.

    My Journey

On 23 December 2010, I underwent surgery to lose weight. I had a vertical sleeve gastrectomy (VSG) which is not to be confused with stomach stapling, liposuction or a tummy tuck. In the VSG, 80% of the stomach (the actual organ) is removed leaving one with a 'pouch' about the size of a small banana, around 130 ml or 5 oz in volume. In this album, I document my path through various stages of weight gain and loss to date.
