Thanks everyone for feedback! I have been open with everyone in my life about my surgery and knew it would change things but it has been such drastic weight loss. I want myself, and my husband and I as team to be successful long term. Maybe two much tmi but I want us to connect again like we did before we gained the weight, and became ashamed by our weight which affected our relationship.

Noisy Stomach! does it get better?
Justkeepswimming37 replied to Dawnyellow's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was also sleeved 7/30 and just started the noises yesterday. TMI warning, I also went #2 for first time and produced a lot of gas so was hoping it was my body just getting up and functioning again. -
Slimies. Foamies.
AmandaRaeLeo replied to AmandaRaeLeo's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had the brick. Right below the rib cage. I've had a flood of thick saliva accompanied by huge spit bubbles (tmi?) and then gagging/puking. I figured I was sliming but wanted to confirm that there was not yet another fun sleeve experience out there in addition to aforementioned experience! I too ate too fast. I learned my lesson for sure! -
@PAguy I had no problems with liquids, I did have problems with each transition... there is a reason I always tell people to bring an extra pair of underwear along. When I felt the need to go, it was probably too late, I know TMI. I can say that it will eventually get better, and your husband will love you regardless. I would say it could be dumping syndrome. I also find it odd you are not taking your supplements. I had to start taking them 3 days post op. It took me about 45 minutes to get them all down.... Have you checked your blood pressure??? It is concerning that you are dizzy/light headed... are you really getting your fluids in a day???

I have had 3 spoonfuls of soup today (post op 3 days) and now I am on the toilet with (sorry if tmi) diarrhea which is water consistent! Is it normal to have runs after surgery or cud it be dumping syndrome do U think

4 1/2 weeks post sleeve surgery. 1. I went with my Mom a few nights ago to see Pirates of Penzance at the 5th Avenue Theatre and pre-op, I always had to squish in the seat and have my hips pinched the entire show...but, this time, I fit comfortably and was able to focus entirely on the show! 2. I bought some smaller jeans at Value Village for "further down the line" last week- Lane Bryant blue size 4 trouser fit jeans. Pre op, at my highest, I wore a size 7 blue petite LB jean (I miss this old LB sizing BTW- they are the only jeans that have ever fit me like a glove - larger hips, smaller waist). I thought today just to try them on as gauge of where I am...surely they won't fit...and up and over my thighs and butt they slid, and zipped! HOORAY, this is actually working! 3. Probably TMI, but my legs do not fall asleep anymore when I have to sit on the toilet for longer periods of time now! Lol. 4. Feet are getting less wide- shoes are fitting better now! 5. Serving a gooey, chocolate layer cake at a family party and not being tempted to eat a slice. I did have a small shaving of dark chocolate garnish and I was good! Chocolate craving over! Your MOST embarrassing experience? Spill it people!
Wheetsin replied to WASaBubbleButt's topic in Rants & Raves
Been a rough week, this will be a nice change of pace/thought. This is hard because I really don't get embarassed, even over things that I know would mortify others. I have quick "oh crap" reactions, but then it's "oh well". Hmm... I had a "Something About Mary" moment once. Before the movie came out. I swear they got that idea from our camping incident. Funny that would be brought up already. It was with DH. We were camping and I'm big on being able to shower after - you know. I just can't stand the feeling lubed... and just trying to wipe it away doesn't cut it for me. Sorry, TMI, but you gotta do what you gotta do. And I don't use public showers. So I told DH ok, but he would have to pull out. How the fark do I tell this without it sounding like a porn? He pulls out and is kneeling/straddling me as he finishes. I'm helping him out. Right as he starts to "arrive", I get this HUGE leg cramp (come on ladies, we've all been there) and have to pull my leg up, which hits his arm/hand and makes him loosen his grip so he wasn't able to "contain" his ...guys... hopefully you know what I'm talking about. So ok, we'll have a little mess to clean up, no biggie, except we can't freaking find it. We're looking everywhere - on the tent walls, on the sleeping bag... on the flashlight... and I'll be a son of a bitch but we can't find his guys anywhere. And I'm thinking - maybe he did one of those weird things where the guy orgasms without ejaculating, because there is no ejaculate in this tent (my husband the tantric???). We're baffled, but our friends are calling us to come out so we can eat, figuring we're just missing it in one of the folds of the sleeping bags or something. We go out, eat, socialize, all is well. And then I notice people are looking at me funny. Don't think a single thing about it, my hair must be messed up. Get paranoid enough to reach up there and check it out, and my hair is all gooey. Wtf? Oh! Yep, there it is, on my head. Mostly on my hair, and somehow pooled at my hairline. Don't ask me, I can't explain it. But see... it didn't embarass me. It went something like: Me - Why the F didn't you guys tell me I had spooge in my hair? Friend 1 - I couldn't figure out what it was. Friend 5 - I thought it was a bug. Friend 2 - I though that's what it was, but how the hell did it get there? Me - We were looking EVERYWHERE for that. DH - Is easily embarassed, and just kind of sits there before sliding into a fetal position. Friend 6 - *takes a picture* -
5 Days Post Op And Miserable Help
Sojourner replied to donna12's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm so sorry to be reading this...and I agree with NWgirl. It does seem way too early to be on mushies. I had to continue my liquid diet for an entire 2 weeks post op. Initially I found it impossible to get all of the fluids I was supposed to have every day, but do your best. Your diet seems high on carbs... Nausea is also a common symptom of dehydration, which can be very serious. So serious that I ended up being sent to the ER by my surgeon to have IV fluids to replenish what I had lost during an illness. I would not wait, but get in touch with the surgeon asap. In the mean time, I would begin to try to sip as much water as I could tolerate, and back off of the food. As I gradually regained proper hydration, my nausea resolved. When the system is upset, it is best to make certain to have fluids, and maybe focus on protein shakes. As for the constipation, TMI...when little goes in, little comes out (sorry to be so graphic). But being constipated is no fun. I take a stool softener, and milk of magnesia when necessary. You are going through both healing and major adjustments now...but get in touch with the surgeon or go to the ER... I pray you will feel better fast...keep us posted on how you are. -
You don't say when you had surgery, but I alternated between diahrea and constipation for a few weeks after surgery. Sorry for the TMI but a few of those episodes (diahrea) was after I ate eggs for the first few times. As the weeks went by, the episodes got more and more spaced out. It is not completely gone (week 8), but it is not troublesome at all anymore.

What DON'T they tell you?
newhope4me replied to TxShtKicker's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I just want to agree with kgloverii, the constipation i was not expecting! Constantly I am struggling with this. I eat plenty of fresh veggies, but apparently not enough Water. DRINK YOUR WATER! I already knew how important water is, before i was banded any day that i did not have enough water my fingers would swell, i could tell right away. But now, it is hard for me to get enough water to keep myself regular. (probably TMI, sorry) -
how long is this gas referred to the left shoulder gonna last! ugh! ouch!!
marcyg replied to jennifer1's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Had to share this new news with you. I went to work today (not a desk job) from being off a week and having been banded May 20. Anyway, my shoulder was acting crazy today! I was near tears a few times. So I called the nurse, again, learned a new valuable piece of info. While it is our shoulder that hurts, the gas is trapped under the diaphragm and there is a nerve there that is connected to the shoulder. So! the nurse tells me to use the heating pad on my abdomen!!! I'm doing it now, (yes I am releasing gas...sorry tmi but true). If you try it, let me know if it helps you. I will be trying this until my shoulder stops hurting!! -
Oh and in the interest of TMI, I HATE the slapping sound of by flaccid stomach against the top of my thighs. It's horrifying.

OK Girls.. what the heck is the story
Kindle replied to intelirish's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
My work partner was complaining the other day about how teeny and flabby her boobs had gotten. She was never more than a plump B cup anyways. She pulled up her bra to show me and yes, they are little nubbins that really require no bra. She showed me how they sagged when she bent over. I was like, REALLY?!! I will show you something to cheer you up". So I whipped mine out, bent over and let them dangle. (Was DD now B cups) She was like, "WOW!" And she felt better immediately. Glad the girls can still bring joy to someone's life. (And there's no such thing as TMI in a small town ) -
I know this may be tmi but I was sleeved 1/23/13 I've lost 89 pounds but 2 days after I was sleeved my peroid started and I had my peroid all the way till april 12th that was the longest 3 1/2 months of my life. My ob said it was from my hormones and the weightloss. I was even on the depo shot to try and stop it. They finally did a d&c to make it stop. But from what I hear this is normal. That was the worst part of this whole adventure. But I don't regret it. Has anyone else had this problem?

I was taking a stool softener but man does it make me sick to the point I can't have any food after I take it and we all know how painful going to the bathroom is now at least for me so any advice on what I can do to help me and not get sick! Thank u all

I became a vegetarian 3 mos post op and since then I had pretty much all fruits, veggies and nuts. During my immediate post op once I got to mushies I ate a lot of apple sauce, peaches, nectarines and pears- mostly from a can in light syrup because they were softer- the further out I got I allowed myself a few bites to try- I have found that the fruits that are "sweeter" like grapes tend to cause a bit more diarrhea sooner than a normal BM (TMI) sorry... But watermelon was a staple for me post op- it was mushy, satisfied my thirst and filled me up- and when you eat fruits and veggies you get plenty of nutrients. Post op becomes a trial and error because often times you cannot eat what you did pre op for various reasons ie- Oranges- the acid KILLS me and I hate it- living in FLA I love to make fresh squeezed orange juice!! and can only have a few sips now but to sit and eat an orange I cannot. I have had the canned mandarine oranges and eaten tangerines and perhaps it's the size of the fruit but they go better with my tummy. I have made fruit salads and incorporated the "difficult" fruit in it so that I can enjoy it but not as a whole but rather just a few bites... Good luck!!

Pain on left side under ribs
reno1128 replied to ctsleeve's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Had the same thing. Have you had constipation at all? I did and went to doc and he attributed it to constipation and having to "push" - sorry if tmi. Take a suppository or milk of magnesia and "clean" yourself out. Should help. -
Anyone used/using BannerGateway-Gilbert, AZ?
della street replied to MoMo12onTheGo's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@MoMo12onTheGo You're more than welcome -- this is such a journey, it's so nice to "speak" with others on the same journey -- I agree, I've had a hard time finding AZ folks as well, which I find very odd since there are at least three major bariatric programs here in the Valley - Banner, Scottsdale Healthcare, and Bridges at St. Luke's Hospital. I don't know if Banner does, but Scottsdale H/care has a patient-only forum, but even that doesn't have a lot of volume of posts considering the thousands of folks that have gone thru that program over the last 9-10 years or so -- I think after a while, you just start living your life and don't have as many questions, etc, I guess -- At 8 weeks out (have 8-week appt this Wed as a matter of fact), doing pretty well, except constipation is a huge issue -- in fact, I'd say that's the biggest issue I've had throughout the entire process - other than insurance foibles pre-op, but that's a whole 'nother story -- and sorry if the constipation comment is TMI, but you'll find it mentioned throughout these posts -- The first couple of weeks after sugery, was really/really tired, but energy mostly back since about week three or so - still working on all the eating changes, that's for sure... but have lost 39 lbs since surgery in 46 days since surgery, and 15 lbs pre-op, so that makes me very happy ) Do you have a surgery date yet? -
What is everyone's exercise routine? New and long timers
Itstime replied to kermit_ojp's topic in Fitness & Exercise
Well I did my first Zumba class and what fun! Small problem at the start of theclass, some tmi, I've been really constipated lately and last night I had some fresh cherries. In the back of my mind I knew they can give me cramps and bm's but I figured no problem with nothing moving anyway. WRONG. Had to run to the bathroom twice and I was loving the class! Success!!! So will not eat cherries again but the instructor lets you watch her first and then do it for the neebies. Also some weights for upper body that kicks butt or should I say arms. Reminds me of jazzercise with latin music and moves. Definitely worth a try. -
hi all. Ive posted already about being tight, not being able to eat meat and other issues. WEll, i kept a small portion of smoked cod from last nights tea. i thought i would have it for my lunch today and see how i go with Soup tonight as i seem to be tighter of a night. I had about five small mouthfuls of fish. Chewed well, waited. Then the discomfort started up all over again. Ive been getting this nearly every meal now...not quite so bad at bfast time but faint in the background. . The discomfort builds, i feel everything churning around. it comes back into the eosophagus, i start to salivate, get the hiccups,, all that sort of thing. Throughout this i need to swallow a lot. i feel like im swallowing air . its very very painful. i feel quite faint im so unwell. Anyway... (TMI... im sorry. lol.) ive just been through another episode. It kept getting worse and then projectile vomiting of mucus. i just had time to reach the loo. i just hate to think if it happened to me out somewhere. I feel better now. O.k.... so do you think id better go get some of the fill taken out? im worried now that my eosophagus may be inflamed. after all, its a daily ocurrance now. this is the first time i have had to vomit though. Ive decided to ring the dr in the morning. I have to go to the city on the 30th. i will make an appointment to see him then. Meantime its back to liquids i think. I cant got to the city before the 30th... so do you think just liquids from now until then? all input gratefully received. thanks.

I actually had several experiences of what I would call dumping. The first time was after drinking my first cup of milk and the second time was recently after eating some extremely spicy chicken. I got flushed, hot/sweaty, and extremely nauseous with cramping and the meals went straight through me and came back out almost undigested. (*tmi).

Welcome to VST!! I'm glad you decided to post. It's nice to see who is hanging around. Congrats on having a surgery date! As for telling people, that's entirely up to you. Just so long as you have a support system in place to help you with recovery, you should be fine. On the hair loss, I suggest Biotin. It's relatively cheap at the drug store and you can sometimes find it B1G1 at Walgreens and CVS pharmacy here. It's way cheaper than a lot of those miracle hair regrowth potions sold on television, so I'd def try the biotin before paying big money for something else. I've been taking biotin since 2 months post-op and I've had a little thinning, but not as bad as I expected. You're right, it is normal to be worried and scared before surgery. And you've got a lot of time before yours to get through. My best advice for dealing with the anxiety is to write your fears and worries down then look at your list. Figure out what you can do something about and do it! Then, pray, meditate, or literally burn the list and let the issues you can't do anything about GO. For example: I was terrified that I would die on the operating table, no, I was CONVINCED I was gonna die. So, I made sure my estate planning docs were put together, then I talked to my surgeon about my thoughts. He reassured me that he would not let me die, but I still had that doubt. I made sure I told my friends and family that I loved them, put the estate planning docs where someone could find them if they were needed, then put my faith in God and my surgeon. Once I relaxed about it, it made things much easier. Obviously, I lived! You're in the right place to research and ask questions about anything that has you worried. There is NO question that is TMI on this board, I've found. Good luck on your journey!!

So I just realized that I'm set to get my monthly enemy literally on my surgery day (May 3rd). I get it between the 2nd - 4th every month. Has that been the case for any of you? And how did you handle it in the hospital and when you got home? I feel like my stomach and the gas and incisions will make it really difficult and painful to deal with tampons (that's what I use) and even if I use pads, I feel like that would still be an issue since I have PCOS and my flow is typically REALLY heavy for 3 or 4 days and then goes away (I mean Niagara Falls kinda heavy, which is why I don't use pads). Any advice or suggestions? My husband can help me with most things, but definitely not this lol Thanks in advance!

Yep, my stomach wasn't right for the rest of the evening. I even threw up (sorry TMI) as I was leaving the hospital right after the Upper GI.
