    3 week post-op stall

@ We had surgery the same day. I have one more week of full fluids. I haven't weighed myself again since my 2 week follow up. From other forums I believe a 3 week stall is normal. How are you doing otherwise?

    3 week post-op stall

Please search for 3 week stall on this site and you will find how common this is. Also one week with no loss is not really a stall. When you go several weeks with no loss then I would suggest your body might be taking a break. Just keep following the plan and the break will end. Your body is just waiting to see what you will do next.

the week 3 stall is no myth. ~sigh~

Its crazy isn't it? I feel like I haven't lost in soo long so I looked back on Fit Day. It was TUESDAY, 3 days ago- I could swear it was at least a week or more. Time is standing still but I dont go back to work until Monday, which will hopefully help. No matter how much I read about the 3 week stall and your body adjusting and blah, blah, blah its still a killer!
  4. Ughhh doing soo good first 2 weeks 26 lbs down this week my third week 1 lb whole week, still eating and walking same as b4 soooo frustrated Sent from my SM-G900V using the BariatricPal App

No weight loss in 7 days?!

Me too had my surgery same day lost 24 pounds and nothing ....i was wondering am i eating too much only about 600-700 calories a day no sugar low carbs ...i have to start exercising everyone talks about a 3 week stall maybe thats it...
  6. The 3 week stall usually lasts about 3 weeks and this is a time that your body is adjusting in inches. Which is even better than lbs.... My weight loss has been up and down the whole time depending on how much water I retain. I'd rather retain water and not be dehydrated but found it very frustrating that my weight fluctuated constantly. Sit back and enjoy the ride......it will come off it just takes time......
  7. So I went through the 3 week stall and for the last week nothing! I'm 8 weeks out today. I was just wondering when everyone hit their next plateau. Thanks!

  9. I am one month and one week post op from a vsg. The scale hasn't gone down in a week. In fact, its gone UP by 2 lbs!! I dont know what to do. My calories stay between 4 and 6 hundred, I get my water and protein probably 95% of the time. I've started walking. Any suggestions?? I know people talk about the 3 week stall....but this is very discouraging! Sent from my SM-G955U using BariatricPal mobile app

    RNY vs SLEEVE Wt loss...

Sorry you are dealing with this. I'm interested to know where you got this statistic because I had not heard that. My doc's office lumps the RNY patients in with the sleeve patients for statistical purposes. Based on that, it looks like I'm losing slow, but I don't so (even though I'm in the midst of a 3 week stall!). We still absorb every calorie we eat, so really, we can't expect our bodies to behave magically different than they did before the sleeve. We all know it's only a restrictive tool, but I keep thinking that the laws of nature will win and we will lose weight (slowly for some of us) as long as we continuously maintain a lower calorie intake. So, I'm wondering, is that considered a failure? Is less of a restriction a failure? Is continued hunger the failure? I'm not sure, but would love to know. I have much less restrriction than some people here report, but I still have a LOT less capacity than before. I could easily "eat around" my sleeve right now, if I chose to, but I think that woule make me the failure, not the surgery. I would love to see studies about what constitutes failure, and the causes. I'm sure you have tried all the things we all must do to lose the weight, so I'm not going to give you advice about things you already know. Again, what you are describing is my worst feat, and I'm so sorry you are going through this. I do wish you success!
  12. As long as you follow the plan, it will work. We all just have to make sure we don't fall into the same pattern we were in before. The only advice that has echoed in my head is: Remember, you didn't gain it all super fast, don't expect to lose it super fast. There's gonna be stalls. There's going to be moments when you ask yourself if you're doing it right. Just keep going. You guys will all be fine. 55 pounds off in 2 months. And that's with a 3 week stall. Good luck.
  13. Way to go. Looks like you hit the 3 week stall. but you seem to be taking it in stride. Also, congrats on the tracking! That has been a key to my success. The surgery is a fantastic tool, but the exercise and using MFP EVERYDAY, that is ALL YOU! Get into the good habits now and it will make succeeding in the long run so much easier.
  14. Ok so I'm almost three weeks post-op...and the dreaded 3 week stall has come early... I knew it would, it happens to everyone... but my brain is programmed by 15 years of diets that if the scale is not moving, then I have done something wrong! How do we work on changing that mind set and seeing things from a new perspective?
  15. 3 week stall happens to most people

    Frustrated

I'm sure by now , you aware of the infamous 3 week stall. Your body needs to readjust your metabolism. Stay the course and one day ( literally!) you will wake up and realize your pants won't fit and the scales drops. Don't expect huge losses , consistent weight is better for your body and skin in the long run. What tracker are you using? I use my fitness pal for good intake and a Fitbit for activity tracking. It keeps me honest with myself and shows the correlation between activity , calories and my weight loss. My guess is if you are staying "on program" you will have a very plea sent surprise next week! Good luck
  17. Good morning everyone!! It's been 5 months already, hurray! So far down 71 lbs but for the last 3 weeks I haven't lost anything =(... Still exercising 5 times a week and eating the same amounts.. but not sure if its a normal stall or what! Anyone experienced a stall around this month? I'm just thinking its weird since I am burning what I intake, maybe it is the muscle I am gaining.. The trainer measured me and I did increase muscle on my legs... not sure if that is holding me back..

    Beginning week 3

Hi Lisa, ^^^^^ I agree with the others^^^^^^ You are doing amazing, and the dreaded 3 weeks stall is just that.... dreaded! Most of us experience it and we all get over it! The scales will move again... good luck! =]

    Beginning week 3

You've hit the dreaded 3 week stall. Plus, you've dropped 34lbs in 3 weeks, and your body is thinking "WHAT H E **" is she doing to me. You're going to have to be patient, continue to get in your fluids, and Protein, follow the plan, and you will lose weight. We didn't get fat overnight, we aren't going to get skinny overnight. I know it's frustrating, but you've been losing almost 2lbs a day, and realistically that can not continue. Your body has to catch up, and adjust. The average weight loss is 10-20 the first couple of months, then 5-10lbs per month after that. Now, with a higher BMI, we typically lose faster, but your body is still trying to figure out what you are doing. You will lose your weight. Stick to the guidelines, stay the course, and stressing over it isn't going to make it worse. Hide your scale, drink your fluids, and let your body recover. Hang in there, you're doing amazing ! ! !

    Help

Search "3 week stall"...it's not you. Almost everyone hits a stall on week 3. Don't let it get you down. YOU WILL START LOSING AGAIN.

    Need serious help!

I didn't have a 3 week stall, but I did have a stall at around 7 weeks. Then the weight just started dropping off again. That's why it is a good idea to not weigh every day. I know it seems impossible (it does to me) but if you could only weigh every 2 weeks, you would have a great big loss and you would never even notice that little stall in there. In other words, even if you don't lose for a while, it WILL come off in the end, so it all evens out eventually. It's nice to see those numbers go down, but when they don't, it sucks. So, weighing less often can only give you GOOD news!
  24. I had the sleeve on 8-19-15. I have over 200# to lose!!!! I lost 25# on my pre op liquid diet but have lost 28 in the 7 weeks since surgery. I'm not always perfect but I wonder if I'm getting enough in or is it too much? I typically eat all Protein 3x/day & don't eat between, per my NUT (Tuna, chicken, salmon & sometimes a 1/2 premiere protein shake). I eat about 2oz/meal. I experienced that dreaded 3 week stall it seems, lost 5 pounds after & "gained" 2 back. I have not lost constantly since week 2. I try to get Water in although it makes me feel nauseated. I do well if I get 32oz in. Am I impatient? Not eating enough? Expecting miracles? Doomed? Any advice is appreciated.

    No weightloss

You are smack in the middle of the famous (or infamous perhaps) 3 week stall. You are doing everything right. It is totally normal. Your body just has to catch up. Ride it out. It will break soon and typically breaks by a pretty significant amount. in the meantime, stay of the scale for a week (if you can) and concentrate on your Protein, fluids and Vitamins. As @InnerSurferGirl says, "Embrace The Stall"!!
