    OCTOBER SLEEVERS- How Ya Doin'?

Hi all, i am a fellow October gal...I had a band revision to sleeve...almost died due to complications with the band-but 2 surgeries later I am recovering. Surg Oct 22nd, spent 9 days in the hospital due to all the complications. I am relieved to see a 3 week stall is common, I have lost about 25lbs but nothing since 11/8...makes me sad! I am eating with no difficulty, about 800 cal a day. Please tell me this weight stall is going to go away soon...
  2. Was sleeved 10/23 and lost 29 lbs during the first 2 weeks. Started pureed right after my 2 week mark. I Weighed myself this morning and was only down 2 lbs this week. What the heck? Has to be some sort of stall because I weigh 379 and would think I would lose more than that!
  3. When was the last time you lost 27lbs in 3 weeks! That's fantastic. .. That's 9 lbs a week! It will slow down and your probably heading into the 3 week stall. Remember you just had major surgery and your body is in shock from severe calorie restriction. It didn't go on over night. . It won't come off over night. Try tracking with mfp that way you can see the patterns. For most people the weight isn't a steady loss. When graphed it looks more like a flight of stairs or a mountain range. While it's sloped downward there are heaps and valleys. Hang in there, you're only 3 weeks out as am I and it will happen.

    OCTOBER SLEEVERS- How Ya Doin'?

It's great to hear so many success stories! I find I don't get on the boards as much any more, now that "the deed is done", but we should do our part to pay it forward with those who are nervous and facing their own sleeve surgeries! I'm on soft foods now, and it's loverly to chew real foods again! I'm still amazed that I can be sooo hungry (if I've gone too long without a snack) yet I can't finish something like a half-cup of chicken/egg salad! Love it. BTW, I guess that 3-weeks stall is real. I was losing nicely but this past week lost only 2 lbs. But I know it'll happen eventually. MLH, I'm so happy for your positive health changes! What's happening INSIDE our bodies now is truly more important that what our bodies look like on the outside... And I found an awesome alternative for Calcium: Try Calcet Creamy Bites Calcium Supplement (BJsBariatrics.com). They're little chewable squares that taste good!! I love the lemon cream, it's such a nice change from all the chocolate stuff -- almost like a little treat. There's also a chocolate version that's sorta chocolate/caramel; it's also good, but I'm tired of chocolate after all my shakes in the past month! 500 mg Calcium & 400 IU Vitamin D per creamy bite. Wish I could find something similar for basic Vitamins. I have a bariatric chewable vitamin that's berry flavored but it's SO strong, I have to force myself to chew & swallow it. Can we ever again take normal vitamins? Does anyone have one they actually like? Keep on akeepin' on!

    Thanksgiving Challenge

Little late for posting but app wouldn't work yesterday. I'm right smack in the middle of the dreaded 3 week stall so not much to report. Cw 225.. goal at TG 210... that's starting to look like wishful thinking!

    Stuck and Frustrated. ..

I'm right there with all of you. And it didn't occur to me that the 3week stall included pre op untill now. I hope the 3 weeks stall doesn't last for 3 weeks...that would suck!
  8. Well I thought I may avoid the 3 week stall but it was just a little late coming. I stalled at around 5 weeks and I'm 7 weeks out today with no loss the last 2. I'm wondering how long the stall lasted for everyone else ? I know mine may be a little longer because I'm only 12lbs from goal but I wanted to get some ideas. Thanks !
  9. Wooohooooooooo Finally made it past the 3 week stall! On the losers path again.

    Stuck and Frustrated. ..

I totally get it! I am just about 8 weeks post and when that "3 week stall" reared its ugly head, I actually laughed to myself and thought, "well, that was right on cue!". But, as the days (now week and a half) have passed.....not so funny. I didn't want to post anything either because of the many times it's been discussed!
  11. Hi All, I was sleeved on August 28th. I lost 32 pounds before surgery and 37 since surgery for a total of 69 pounds, and I am still very disappointed. I lost most of my 37 the first few weeks after surgery. I did hit the dreaded 3 week stall, but I am so slow at losing and I was over 300 pounds when I started, so I still have a lot to lose. I would be happy with another 100 to 120 (not sure if it will ever happen). I am eating so much less than before surgery obviously, and I walk a mile to a mile and a half as many nights as possible, I try to make sure I get 5 nights a week in. I do have days where I don’t get all of my meals and Water in and I am not sure if that is my problem or not, but I am so frustrated with the slow weight loss. I am not giving up, but sometimes I really feel like that. My nutritionist does not want us eating any carbs, and once in a while I will have a very tiny scoop of potatoes or half of an English muffin when I have eggs. I am not perfect, but I feel for what I am putting into my body compared to before this surgery and how much walking I am doing that there is no way I shouldn’t be losing more weight. I do know some days I am not doing well with it because I won’t get all 3 meals in and those days I really struggle with water too. I am two months out now and very fearful that I am not going to lose a lot more weight. The scale has been stuck again for a 3 week period other than a 2 lb loss. I was just wondering if anyone else is going through this and if so how they are dealing with it? Or if anyone has any suggestions they would be greatly appreciated.

I was sleeved on 10/22/13 at 7:30 AM. Best thing I ever did for myself! Was not sick and haven't taken pain medication since I came home. I never was a "drinker" so hard for me to keep sipping water and getting the protein shakes in every day. But doing my best after threats from my nut about IV fluids for dehydration! Happy with the weight loss so far and dreading the "3 week stall".

    2 weeks post op

DId you lose some on your pre op diet? They say there is a 3 week stall. I bet you will lose a few in a few days. Your body probably just needs some time to adjust. Hang in there!
  14. It happens to EVERYONE! Seach the "3 week stall". SUPER common as things heal and get 'organized'. This too shall pass (and you might want to skip weighing yourself every day... if you are) I gained 10 pounds while in the hospital and had not lost anything in the first 2 weeks. But it all worked out.
  15. Pleasse see the post from sleeved Pat! Looks familiar, I bet! I GAONED 10 mounds the week after surgery and had not lost any weight for the first two weeks. Relax and stay with your program! What I said to Pat: It happens to EVERYONE! Seach the "3 week stall". SUPER common as things heal and get 'organized'. This too shall pass (and you might want to skip weighing yourself every day... if you are)

    4 weeks post-op troubles

I'm at my 3 week stall too! It's normal if you've already lost a lot of weight in the first two weeks. All of the vets say to Just keep following your plan!

    4 weeks post-op troubles

Im at 3 1/2 weeks and the last couple of days have been the same weight so I think I am on the dreaded 3 week stall also!
  19. I had 3 week stall, like majority of people. Your body says " what the heck" and going on strike I am slow loser and I stall every other week for a week. Everybody is different, but remember that this too, shall pass. You'll start losing again!
  20. 4 weeks today and lost 4 pounds this week....3 week stall after surgery...so its moving fast right now...
  21. I just got off the dreaded 3 week stall that started after week one. I had to go to phoenix on business and lost it during that time. I eat my protein from real foods and try to cram in water but for me thats harder than it looks. I lost just under 3 pounds in 2 days so it is dropping again... you will see it drop.
  22. Not enough protein, not enough water, and not many calories will cause a body to go into conservation mode for a little while. Do a search on dreaded "3 week stall" . It happens/ happened to all of us. Don't panic, it passes. Keep up on your walking, nutrition and fluids and you will be fine. I think 14lbs in 2 weeks is awesome!

May sleevers! How much have you lost so far?

May sleevers - Seems a big group of us were in another 3-week stall. Me too, but this morning I reached ONE-derland! Finally in the 100s instead of 200s! Praising God and thanking you for this community! 54 lbs to go for me. I am on the slow train but it is a train moving forward (or down)! Blessings to you in your journey!

    Age and surgery

Turning 67 in a few weeks. Was sleeved on June 4 and am down 64 pounds from 284 pounds. One 3 week stall and now another this week but I feel successful enough. Had hoped to break 200 for my birthday but will celebrate the new year at a weight I haven't seen since I was in 8th grade.
