    Two Weeks to Go!

So sorry you're disappointed @RosieCheeks- I was reading somewhere that our bodies are hard wired to try and maintain or get back to our highest weights. I know it's disheartening, but look at all those lovely NSV's you've had! It sounds like the protein thing might be a factor, as well as the calories. I'm trying my hardest to get 700-800 in a day, and it really made a difference to my first stall. I described the journey as strange, mainly because the times I lose weight I don't feel any different, but when I maintain, or don't check myself too much I feel much more confident. I'm approaching the point at which I can say it's the lowest weight I've been in recent memory, which blows my mind. Something I struggled with this week: lunch time. I'm getting a fair few funny looks and comments about content/portion size. Those few people I've told at work are always wonderful and change the subject quickly, but I have a training day with lunch provided next week and a networking breakfast that are already making me nervous! Keep going, don't worry too much- we're all going to get there! MB Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Guys who started over 400 lbs.

Congrats all, update on me Jan 4th i weighed 440. Surgery March 23rd weighed 399.8 today weigh 341.8 I get my first lab tests for Vitamins and such Wednesday and hoping to be under 340 by then. Had horrible side stitch pain for about a month other then that nothing to bad. My only comorbity was sleep apnea and wife says I snore a lot less. I ran a 5k (well ran and walked on Jun 4th.) Coming along, a recent NSV: I went to get gas and the person behind the counter recognized me from before when I used to get 2 hotdogs before work and she was impressed at how much weight I had lost. 4. Hi all, I'm also so glad for the OP posting this I'm 13 days post op and everything has gone really great. The only pain I ever really had was first thing out of the op in recovery from the gas- which after "something to help" from the recovery Doctor I was absolutely fine when I woke up in my room. My program allowed 3 nights in hospital which although I didn't think I totally need it, it was very nice to be looked after I didn't need any pain meds during my stay- and I was able to toodle about my room and the hallway for little wanders about. My stitches were tender but absolutely fine. The first days at home also meant first purées - I was so worried about all the horror stories about not being able to stomach foods that I was very apprehensive, but it's all gone down very well and I haven't felt sick once- especially when you stick to your measures. The only problem is maybe wanting to try a bit more challenging foods when you feel too brave but I know I have another week of purées so I'm making sure to resist the urge. I've also been walking an average of 4-6kms a day this week to get my stamina back up (back to work on Monday )- I've really been enjoying my danders about and 10kgs down since the pre-op diet has even meant hills feel easier One thing I need to stop doing is weighing myself every day- there has been a wee bit of a stall last couple of days which I've been disheartened about but I've realised weighing every day isn't a heathy way of monitoring- i need to focus on the "NSV's" like being able to walk up hills with out getting out of breath 2 steps in I'm excited to see what the next few months bring. All the best everyone! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  5. I have been cleaning out my sewing area............ it'a huge NSV to have this kind of energy after working out and then working all day. I've already found several lost treasures!

    Two Weeks to Go!

Morning all! Just thought I would drop in and let you know about my NSV last night! (Admittedly, it started out with a bit of a nightmare!) I was happily sitting at home, in my pjs (no judging) after dinner last night when I logged into my work emails. I was waiting for a client to send something back that I needed for today, and being the paranoid soul I am, wanted to check it was in my inbox. I logged in, and to my horror, it was not. (Wild panic ensued). I then checked my outbox and to even more horror, my last email was stuck there! Long story short, dashed out of my PJs into the first clothes out of the closet and raced to work to send the email properly. It wasn't until I got home that I realised the jeans I had slung on were the ones I had bought before surgery, that wouldn't even go over my thighs. Admittedly, they were still a bit tight on the tummy, but I am taking that as my first NSV thank you very much! Hope everyone is well! MB Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Ways to celebrate weight loss?

90 pounds?! That's fantastic! You'll definitely need to celebrate the 100 pound loss you're so close to. What about doing something that you couldn't have done before? For me, I think I'd like to try a zip line, or take a river rafting trip, or jump on a trampoline, or go horse back riding. Maybe even sky diving. Eek! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App Thanks! Yeah I was thinking of doing something I couldn't do before but I'm still pretty heavy. I started at 545 so right now I'm at 455! I still can't do much but I'd like to do something! I'd also love to do something like ziplining, trampoline, skydiving, zorbing, parasailing, hang gliding but I still have a ways to go! @@Dashofpixiedust8 i got my first tattoo put on right wrist first 3 letters of grand-kids small italics, little red heart under each letter M organ A ndrew E than they are the reason for being a proudgrammy i am also a proud breast cancer survivor little italics on right ankle saying survivor a beautiful colored little butterfly under survivor this is for my 86 year old mom - she lives for butterflies many more NSV's to follow pre and post op weight loss is great!!! 90 lbs down!!! wonderful milestone with many more to follow kathy congrats I love tattoos! 12. I had lost 17 pounds in 12 weeks (also following my plan perfectly) I'm now sitting 12 pounds below goal and have been for over 1 1/2 years. The rate that you lose has absolutely nothing to do with your ultimate success. Just stick on plan, sit back and enjoy the NSVs. And stay off the scale if it upsets you so much. Thank you for this, it's encouraging... Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    May 24 Surgery Day

Well... I had dumping last night... I had some chicken and half an egg... Throwing up everywhere.... Now I am scared to eat anything! NSV- I am able to weigh myself on the scale at home rather than a heavy duty doctors scale! The good balances out the bad I guess...
  17. hey that's a nice NSV! you're doing really well.
  18. It's amazing the difference you get when you lose a big chunk of yourself.... I feel better about myself and have more energy and stamina. My wife and I have always had a healthy intimate life - so good in fact that I didn't think it could get better - I WAS WRONG!!!! Definitely one of the top NSVs of WLS!.

    NSV

So I'm on this committee that meets the 2nd Tuesday of every month. I missed last month since I was on FMLA and this month's meeting (I'm 2 months out) was today. It is in the college of pharmacy in a classroom that we reserve so it has those chairs with the tiny desk thing that goes up and down in front of you. I hope you know what I mean. Prior to surgery, I would always have to leave the desk up and pull another chair over to me in order to write/look at portfolios on that chair's desk because the desk would come nowhere close to going down. Got some funny looks the first few months that I did that. Today, I went in, sat in my usual seat, started to scoot another desk over and stopped. I kinda looked around to see if anyone was paying attention and decided to lower the desk on my chair to see how much farther I would have until I could put it down. IT WENT ALL THE WAY DOWN!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I had to tell someone and I was afraid people I know would think I'd gone crazy for being so excited about something like that....figured I could Celebrate here without anyone thinking I was TOO crazy! Epic Weekend!

That looks amazing! I'd love to ride a horse but until I shrink down to a healthy weight, it would be cruelty to animals! Maybe I will add that to my future NSV goals? Sent from my LGLS740 using the BariatricPal App
  21. Val, not having to care where I park (unless it is raining) was one of my first NSV's too! wonderful feeling.
  22. I hear ya! it's life changing! I was on a hike yesterday and I *ran* up several flights of stairs. me. ran. *up* stairs. for the fun of it. crazy. I am looking forward to hearing your progress and more life changing NSV's!
  23. Hey y'all, I'm incredibly excited and I have to share this with someone who will understand! I was sleeved on May 18th and since then I've lost around 16 pounds. The scale hasn't moved in almost a week though and I've been wanted to add in exercise so I thought now would be a great time to do so. I've had an elliptical for a couple of years and I finally got back on it a few days ago. Tonight when I was on it it hit me - I wasn't out of breath! Before my surgery when I would get on it (a year or two ago) I was out of breath within five minutes and the rest of my workout was a huge struggle. Tonight when I was almost finished I realized my chest wasn't on fire! I think I'm more excited about this than the weight I've lost!! Anyways just wanted to share with my fellow sleevers! God bless!
  24. This has been a great weekend for NSVs. I did a tour of an underground cave system, and I never once had to think, "oh lord, please let me fit." I walked up the 60+ stairs at the end without stopping for a break. And, I had a regular customer come up to me to say they didn't recognize me. I am about six weeks out from RNY, down 80 lbs all together (50 before surgery, 30 since). I feel really good. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App
