I love genepro protein powder. It's tasteless, dissolves in anything. 1 small scoop is 30 grams. I just dissolve 2 a day in anything I'm drinking or eating. Soup, juice, yogurt.... There is no way I could get my protein with out it. I despise protein drinks & the fake sweeteners give me headache.
-
Stenochick, yes the Protein powders are yuck now. The only one I can consistently drink is skim +carnation SF+ GENEPRO unflavored. Sometimes you need to just take it easy.
-
I can still do milk +carnation SF + genepro unflavored in the morning which is close to 40 grams of protein. All of the rest of the 5 flavored Syntrax i bought I can't tolerate. I can also do isopure alpine punch ready to drink. I have been trying to do some soup with protein mixed in. It does get repetitive

Hello all I am new to this forum and scheduled for surgery on April 21 and today I purchased premiere Protein shakes but didn't see any unflavored powder at Costco's for my soup. I saw a youtube tutorial where a young lady was talking about GENEPRO and asked my nutritionist about it and she looked it up and didn't recommend it so I didn't order it. advice pls!!!

My heart gave a flutter when I looked at my ticker for surgery date
wannaBthinsoon posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
2 weeks and 4 days. OMG. It's finally almost here. I can't believe my heart actually did a little "skip" when I saw my own ticker. Preop with the surgeon on Wednesday, then 1 week of liquids, then BAM! Surgery Day! WOW. As hard as I have worked to jump through all the hoops, and read everything in the world that has been written about VSG, and watch all the you tube videos (some more than once), it's nearly here. Holy cra@p! It's ok, though. I'm ready. I need this. I will have the utmost respect for my sleeve, and I will lose this weight and get healthy. I am down to only 2 pair of jeans that fit. I will just have to handle them with care, cuz I refuse to buy anything in the size I am today. I have closets full of clothes in step down sizes in jeans (and everything else) that are still practically new. Deep breath, and keep on keeping on. 4/23 is going to be here before I know it. It might be time for me to start gathering some of the necessities I'm going to need once I'm home. No sense in rushing out the day before, and risk forgetting something. Like Gas-x. I hear I'll need that. Biotene mouth spray, I've heard that comes in handy in the hospital. I have the Protein shakes and powders I like....plus my (really) unflavored GENEPRO I can mix into anything to get my protein in on liquids only. What else? What have I forgotten? -
@@pansy63 I have used Isopure unflavored powder Protein mix. I am currently using GENEPRO Protein Powder. I purchased both on Amazon.com. Although both of these products advertise "unflavored," there is a noticeable "flavor." However, it is not as bad as the fake sugar mixes. The Genepro is best for me. It has 30 mg of protein in just one tablespoon and can be mixed in hot or cold foods and liquids.

@@sh1211 I think if you try the GENEPRO (wee small scoop gives you 30g/serving!!!), you can get it in the smaller package to start, then if you like it, it goes up to a 3lb container.

@@pansy63 Sorry to interrupt.....but maybe this will work for you: On Amazon.com type in unflavored Protein powder in the search box. I use TG's and GENEPRO. Good luck!

Yes Genepro is a life saver. I use it in all kinds of stuff.

Welcome to your new life! The journey appears to have started for you already, so here we go! sugar-free popsicles! Lots of them (my favorite brand is actually the Popsicle brand), it gives you the crunch and chew you will want. Check out the search feature in the upper right hand corner for topics that interest you. Since you have not had surgery before this, it is probably a little scary, but it really isn't if you read up on the procedure, and fill your head with the facts, and not hear-say. I've had 22 surgeries to date, and the sleeve was the least painful and easiest to recover from. Trust me, that says ALOT! There will be lots of challenges ahead, so it's best to prepare for them now, like getting your shopping done (all the different foods you will be allowed at the different stages, any Vitamins in the liquid/dissolvable/chewable forms, any and all comforts you might need (heating pad, comfy pj's, extra pillows to prop you up, teddy bear...), just ask your surgical team for possible necessities they suggest. Get a couple of books on the subject, there are a few on Amazon.com. Information is power, and if you are informed, there is little that will get by you! You should do fine! Oh, and maybe get some Nioxin shampoo for the potential hair loss that may come your way in a couple of months. The Biotin Vitamin just won't grow the hair back, but it will make what you have look great! Research the Protein shakes/powders you will need to have, so you can choose the ones you like that will have the most protein per drink. I like GENEPRO for the fact it is a small scoop and 30g per serving. It is unflavored, so you can add it to all kinds of beverages. Also on Amazon. Amazon LOVES me! Lots to do and lots to look forward to! I wish you the best on your journey, and write if you need anything!

I got and tried a protein supplement, Genepro, which I read about here. It mixes with cold and hot liquids and is tasteless. So I put it in coffee this AM but kind of plopped it in and it had small clumps. Retried this afternoon, stirring while I added it to the decaf coffee and magic! It dissolved completely and was tasteless. 1 scoop has 98 cal, .5 fat and 30 Gm protein!! It kept me from feeling hungry I got it on amazon. Kristi

New idea for protein...and it tastes GOOD!
CanyonBaby replied to CanyonBaby's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
@@ssourgirl Maybe try GENEPRO, found on Amazon.com. It is a tiny scoop (compared to most unflavored whey powders), and you hardly notice it is there. It can be mixed in hot or cold beverages, and has virtually no taste. It has different size packages it comes in, up to 3lbs. And I think it is very reasonable. As for being nauseous, try drinking tepid Water as opposed to cold, so it isn't such a shock to the new tummy. Use the Water Enhancer drops (SOOOOO many flavors to choose from, as well as different brands) to help get in the fluids she needs. This is a life-time thing we need to do for ourselves, so find something you really like. Try mixing different flavors, too. Good luck! OH! The GenePro has 30g of Protein per tiny scoop! Hurray! -
Try some GENEPRO (available on Amazon). It is a powder protein that you can put in Soup, milk, juice, yogurt, etc. It is 30 mg of protein in just one tablespoon. The shakes do get old...

What protein shakes are preferred?
katyh2015 replied to Gr8bowler's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm with the consensus here, I like the Premier Protein. chocolate is my favorite and I add SF Torani syrup to mix it up. Peppermint, Raspberry, Peanut Butter, Salted caramel. The possibilities are endless. I also use the vanilla in my coffee in the morning. GENEPRO unflavored is good as well. I put it in my Soup when I was on the liquid diet and sometimes when I need to get a little more in for the day add it to juice, smoothies, or flavored Water. I bought several flavors of the Muscle Milk at my health food store and had to toss them all. Yuck! -
Reversal for gastric sleeve?
BLERDgirl replied to Gladys62's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If you cannot tolerate the shakes, don't drink them. Find other ways to get in your Protein. I use an unflavored protein powder that I mix with pretty much everything. I add it into yogurt (a natural source of protein), I add it into Soups, I add it into coffee & tea, hot or cold. It can also be added to a 50/50 mix of fruit juice/water or stirred into a bit of apple sauce or mashed potatoes. A few brands of unflavored protein powders are Isopure unflavored, unjury and GENEPRO. One of the key things I did to get in more water/fluids was to add loads of ice to everything. Instead of traditional protein shakes try protein waters like propel. Again you are getting in protein AND Fluid at the same time. The shaking may be a symptom of dehydration. Please try to get your fluids in at all cost. I am sorry that it was not explained to you that a large portion of your stomach is cut away. Hopefully the suggestions in this post will help you make the best of it. -
Can I have an scramble egg
Tamsboyd replied to Lifeafter40's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hmmm my bariatric office sells Genepro. I've heard nothing but good things about it -
I had my first cup 3 weeks out. I have had one cup each morning since and in addition to my coffee I add a little cream and a scoop of GENEPRO unflavored Protein powder to it. Lasts me a couple hours and then I usually am ready for like a hard boiled egg or yogurt by like 9:30-10 am. And have already gotten in 30 g of protein.

Frozen meals - lean cuisine weight watchers...
BLERDgirl replied to MamaTo3inNH's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
I often add unflavored powder to my coffee. I used Isopure but others have had success with GENEPRO and unjury as well. I also add them to my Soups. Tonight I'll have a cup of progresso lentil soup. It's 9 gms of Protein, but I'll add a scoop of unflavored Isopure which is 26gm making dinner a whopping 35gms of protein. While I don't use them, I don't think there is anything wrong with keeping a few in the freezer for an emergency situation. If you do a weekly food prep, there are many Indian and even Italian dishes you can premake into ramekins. Indian cooking will be very bean heavy, and if you do Italian you could go to the seafood side. -
Can I have an scramble egg
Kindle replied to Lifeafter40's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I used unjury unflavored. It worked best to pre mix it with a little bit of Water in my Blender Bottle and then add it to the heated broth or strained soup. It does have a taste, but I found it to be mild and mostly covered up by the flavor of the soup. I still add it to pancake mix, hot Cereal and casseroles to add extra Protein. After researching GENEPRO and the company that makes it, I do not feel comfortable with the product claims. There is NO scientific research backing the product, it is not approved by the FDA, I can't find an amino acid profile to know if it's a complete protein, and the other products that company puts out are "male performance enhancers" and other quack "miracle" fad products. I feel better sticking with 100% whey protein which provides all essential amino acids and is the best and most readily absorbed form of protein (with the scientific evidence to back it up). -

What protein shakes are preferred?
TammyDTM replied to Gr8bowler's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I found that I couldn't stick with one. I've tried quite a few. I liked J-Robb vanilla and chocolate Muscle Milk before surgery and for the first week after surgery. Since then I have developed an intolerance to artificial sweeteners. Can't stand any pre-made drinks or powdered Protein. Someone suggested GENEPRO. I just got it today. It is supposed to be tasteless, ordorless and free of any artificial or real sweeteners. I am looking forward to trying that tomorrow. One tablespoon nets 30 grams protein. Fortunately, I am now able to get at least 60 grams of protein through food at 4 1/2 weeks out. Good luck and best wishes! -
food and why I love/hate it.

@@CatKaren I love Genepro! I made a fabulous shake of optimum nutrition chocolate, Genepro, PB2 chocolate in almond milk. It was like having a Reese's milkshake! My daughter and granddaughter liked it! I also like that there are little packets in the bag that you can put a tablespoon in and take along with you. Next up, trying it out in soup. Thanks again! -

@@CatKaren Thanks for the Genepro advice. I ordered it today on Amazon. Can I tell you that I love Prime. It'll be here on Thursday! I emptied out two shelves in my "cereal/pasta" cabinet and they are now filled with powdered protein- Raw Milk (haven't tried it-heard it's awful but a complete protein), Nectar, PB2 in regular and chocolate, and some other things I decided to try from Amazon. I also picked up a bag each of Gold Standard from Costco in Vanilla and Chocolate. Have to check out the various recipes online... -
