Ways to celebrate weight loss?
Dashofpixiedust8 replied to Dashofpixiedust8's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
90 pounds?! That's fantastic! You'll definitely need to celebrate the 100 pound loss you're so close to. What about doing something that you couldn't have done before? For me, I think I'd like to try a zip line, or take a river rafting trip, or jump on a trampoline, or go horse back riding. Maybe even sky diving. Eek! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App Thanks! Yeah I was thinking of doing something I couldn't do before but I'm still pretty heavy. I started at 545 so right now I'm at 455! I still can't do much but I'd like to do something! I'd also love to do something like ziplining, trampoline, skydiving, zorbing, parasailing, hang gliding but I still have a ways to go! @@Dashofpixiedust8 i got my first tattoo put on right wrist first 3 letters of grand-kids small italics, little red heart under each letter M organ A ndrew E than they are the reason for being a proudgrammy i am also a proud breast cancer survivor little italics on right ankle saying survivor a beautiful colored little butterfly under survivor this is for my 86 year old mom - she lives for butterflies many more NSV's to follow pre and post op weight loss is great!!! 90 lbs down!!! wonderful milestone with many more to follow kathy congrats I love tattoos! Am I losing enough weight post-op?
JosieJ replied to JustSleeved's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had lost 17 pounds in 12 weeks (also following my plan perfectly) I'm now sitting 12 pounds below goal and have been for over 1 1/2 years. The rate that you lose has absolutely nothing to do with your ultimate success. Just stick on plan, sit back and enjoy the NSVs. And stay off the scale if it upsets you so much. Thank you for this, it's encouraging... Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -

Well... I had dumping last night... I had some chicken and half an egg... Throwing up everywhere.... Now I am scared to eat anything! NSV- I am able to weigh myself on the scale at home rather than a heavy duty doctors scale! The good balances out the bad I guess... -

How has your sex life changed since surgery/weightloss?
fernandfj replied to reachbree's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It's amazing the difference you get when you lose a big chunk of yourself.... I feel better about myself and have more energy and stamina. My wife and I have always had a healthy intimate life - so good in fact that I didn't think it could get better - I WAS WRONG!!!! Definitely one of the top NSVs of WLS!. -
So I'm on this committee that meets the 2nd Tuesday of every month. I missed last month since I was on FMLA and this month's meeting (I'm 2 months out) was today. It is in the college of pharmacy in a classroom that we reserve so it has those chairs with the tiny desk thing that goes up and down in front of you. I hope you know what I mean. Prior to surgery, I would always have to leave the desk up and pull another chair over to me in order to write/look at portfolios on that chair's desk because the desk would come nowhere close to going down. Got some funny looks the first few months that I did that. Today, I went in, sat in my usual seat, started to scoot another desk over and stopped. I kinda looked around to see if anyone was paying attention and decided to lower the desk on my chair to see how much farther I would have until I could put it down. IT WENT ALL THE WAY DOWN!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I had to tell someone and I was afraid people I know would think I'd gone crazy for being so excited about something like that....figured I could Celebrate here without anyone thinking I was TOO crazy! That looks amazing! I'd love to ride a horse but until I shrink down to a healthy weight, it would be cruelty to animals! Maybe I will add that to my future NSV goals? Sent from my LGLS740 using the BariatricPal App

Hey y'all, I'm incredibly excited and I have to share this with someone who will understand! I was sleeved on May 18th and since then I've lost around 16 pounds. The scale hasn't moved in almost a week though and I've been wanted to add in exercise so I thought now would be a great time to do so. I've had an elliptical for a couple of years and I finally got back on it a few days ago. Tonight when I was on it it hit me - I wasn't out of breath! Before my surgery when I would get on it (a year or two ago) I was out of breath within five minutes and the rest of my workout was a huge struggle. Tonight when I was almost finished I realized my chest wasn't on fire! I think I'm more excited about this than the weight I've lost!! Anyways just wanted to share with my fellow sleevers! God bless! -
This has been a great weekend for NSVs. I did a tour of an underground cave system, and I never once had to think, "oh lord, please let me fit." I walked up the 60+ stairs at the end without stopping for a break. And, I had a regular customer come up to me to say they didn't recognize me. I am about six weeks out from RNY, down 80 lbs all together (50 before surgery, 30 since). I feel really good. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

So I turned 50 and followed my doctors advice to go get a screening colonoscopy. They did a phone interview and couldn't believe I didn't take any prescription medication (after getting rid of high blood pressure, Water retention pills, etc.). Got to the procedure room and my BP was 115/60 with a resting heart rate of 56 bpm. Gastro doctor comes in and goes over the procedure and then tells me "you are in the best condition of a 50 year old I have seen all year!" If he had only seen me 1 year ago! He would have never said that as I was 130 lbs overweight and couldn't keep my blood pressure under control even with meds. Gotta love the sleeve!

I made another run to Goodwill this weekend because my size 14 were starting to become way too loose. At my local thrift stores, the larger your size the harder it is to find stuff. Getting into size 12s , I had so many clothes to choose from that I got the luxury of being discerning and not just buying some pants because they were my size! And it might have been my wishful thinking, but the smaller size clothing just seemed to all have less wear. Everything I got looked brand new. I spent $30 and got 5 pairs of capris and 4 shirts! I really had to stop myself because as we all know, I might only be in size 12 for a couple of weeks lol

Putting pressure on myself - scale obsessed
Cape Crooner replied to jessjames's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes, I think it's natural. You have already invested a lot in this decision and you deserve to enjoy those dividends. A lot of people on this forum talk about NSV's (non scale victories), but be honest, it's all about the scale! I hit my goal 3 months ago and my maintenance program is to eat like I'm still on my post opt diet M-F and loosen up on weekends. I still weigh in almost every day. Now I weigh just under my goal weight on Monday morning and drop 3-4 pounds by Friday. I'm still scale obsessed! -

How about some NSVs!?!?
nearperfectmess replied to shyanne's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've got a few NSV's I'm lumping together, because this weekend was full of 'em. I went to Orlando FL for a whirlwind, two day trip. I was overwhelmed by a few things that happened. 1 - No seat belt extender! Not only did the seat belts buckle on two different airline's flights, but I had room left on the belt! 2 - Disney World - I spent a whole day in the heat and humidity and felt I actually had energy and wasn't a giant ball of sweat (gross, I know, but...y'all know what I mean). 3 - Universal Studios. This was a big one for me. I've heard horror stories of bigger guys/gals not being able to ride 90% of the rides there due to the size of the seats/restraints. I went to go sit in the test seat outside of Harry Potter and the attendant looked at me and said, "Um, sir, you really don't need that. You're more than fine". Not having to use the test seats and riding every single thrill ride? Best. Thrill. Ever. Worth more than I spent on tickets, and then some. -
