    December Fitness Challenge

2.5 miles today on the treadmill in the same amount of time it took me to walk 2 earlier this week. It also helped clear my head a little about my 3 week stall. It's amazing what putting on the head phones and listening to CeeLo Green's "Fu*& You" song will do!!!! I'm at 11.9 miles to my 50 mile goal.

Nov 2013 Sleevers Progress So Far...

Hi! i was sleeved 11-12-13. I am in the midst of the 3 week stall and extremely depressed about it I am down 13 since the surgery but 28 since the pre op. hope this stall breaks soon. not happy in ny
  3. I agree with Butter - he is always spot on. I just posted about my 3-week stall dilemma - I was sleeved the day after you, so I'm going thru it as well. While I haven't gained, I'm stalled and that's a tough pill to swallow. Are you tracking what you're eating - Protein, carbs and fat? I use my fitbit app and it really helped when I introduced puree foods into my diet. Though my plan allowed for oatmeal, 1/4 cup contains 13 carbs. Carbs aren't necessarily evil, but you need to look at them as a whole for the day. I also was eating fat-free refried Beans which are also on my plan, but carb-heavy. I was eating them because they were easy on my stomach. I have since put down the beans and have opted for turkey or chicken which my stomach can handle easily now. Making sure you're getting enough Water is important as Butter stated above. It's tough, I know, but you need to sip all day. I realized last night when I woke up and it felt like someone put glue in my mouth, that I'm not getting in enough. I have my bottle sitting right next to my computer as a constant reminder. And finally, walking or moving your body. See if you can take little walks thru the day on your non-school days. You'll find that you will be able to add a little each walk very easily. Moving your body is not only for exercise, but will help your body recover. You're still recovering from major surgery! Lastly, don't get down on yourself. Hang in there. This will pass - it sucks now, but it will pass. I think most of us worry that we're going to be the one person that this surgery won't work...But, if you put in the effort and do what you're supposed to do, your body will do what it's supposed to do. Your body is just trying to figure out what you did to it and why there isn't copious amounts of calories like there was a month ago. It will figure it out - sometimes not on the same timeframe that your brain wants it to. Be good to yourself and hang in there! Sending much love and support your way.
  4. I’m in the dreaded three-week stall and it sucks. I knew this was coming. I knew it was going to happen. I thought I even prepared myself for it. I have preached to others that it’s not big deal. That it’s your body saying, “Whoa, what the hell did you do to me?” and, “Your body needs to figure it out before it loses more weight.” I know all that, but it doesn’t make it suck any less and it doesn’t make me any less pissed off. There, I said it. I’m pissed off. I said it again. Rationally, it makes sense. My body is wondering if it’s a time of famine, so it’s not going to allow it’s self to lose any more weight until figures out that this is the new normal. This may take some time – I’m in a Facebook group where some people who had their sleeve operation in November stalled for three weeks. That’s a major blow to my already fragile psyche! After years of yo-yo dieting, when you don’t see the scale move, that when you find the donuts, or bread, or Cookies or (insert vise here). That is not an option. Eating a donut or other off-plan food will not only make me sick, even worse, it could damage my sleeve. It’s also not an option because I must be accountable for my actions. I need to be an adult. I will add that accountability and being an adult sucks, too! :-) So, I am writing this post as much for me as for anyone that reads it. The three-week stall will most likely happen. Try to prepare yourself for it, but know that no matter how much you prepare for it, it’s still going to be difficult when you go through it. What am I going to do about it? I’m going to keep on keepin’ on. That’s all I can do. I am going to stick to my plan – 3 meals and 3 shakes per day with 80-90 grams of protein; just as the doctor ordered. I’m going to continue going to the gym and walking on the treadmill. These are the two things that are going to help me achieve my goals. I cannot lose sight of that. I also know that this is temporary. My rational mind knows the arithmetic behind calories in vs. calories out. I’m consuming 600-800 calories a day right now and I’m burning about 250 on the treadmill daily. That formula will equal weight loss as soon as my body realizes we’re going to be OK. I just wish my body knows what my brain does!

Stall ... I'm So Discouraged! Help!

You are not failing - take your measurements. I just came off a 3 week stall - it was so disheartening that I stopped weighing myself. After 3 weeks, I'm down 4 lbs. I was ready to think that I just wasn't going to lose any more weight, but just like me you will. Best wishes to you.
  6. Brief Story: I weighed 275 when I started the 6 month Supervised Diet Visits. I got down to 262 the day of surgery which was Oct 28th. I weight 242.5 today. I have been 242.5 since Nov 18 and the scale will not move. I started tracking my Protein and calories a week ago in Sparkpeople. I get 60 to 65 grams of Protein a day. I'm drinking 50+ oz of Water a day. I'm getting 600 to 800 calories a day. I just don't know what I'm doing wrong. I exercise 30 to 45 minutes a day at least 5 days a week. I feel like the biggest failure. I've heard of 1 week stalls, maybe 2, but I'm going on a 3 week stall. Is this normal? My next doctor's appointment is Dec 18th. I can't believe that I'm failing at this too. I didn't think I would, but it feels now like I am.

Day One POST-op! Any others :)

I'm doing great. Weight loss is slow for me. I was on a 3 week stall at my 3rd week post op. But, losing again now, but, still slow. I have had very few problems. I was only really tired for about a week at my 4th week. Absolutely no energy that week and just wanted to sleep. I'm loving my sleeve. No regrets.
  9. Well tomorrow, 12/2 is my surgery. I am not nervous yet, but I'm sure I won't sleep tonight. I didn't have it as tough as some others and had no pre-op diet. However, I will have a drain and a catheter. I maybe would have preferred the pre-op diet instead. I want to thank all the "veterans" on here for all your posts on various topics. Your posts have convinced me I can do it. Thanks to Laura-Ven, RJ's Beginning, Lipstick Lady, Gamer Girl, Butterthebean, Madame Reverie, Fiddleman and many others whose names I have forgotten. We didn't necessarily share any threads together, but always found your threads and answers interesting and your willingness to always answer questions about the 3 week stalls like it's the first time you heard it asked. I will hopefully see you tomorrow on the loser's bench and Good Luck to all the other 12/2 sleevers as well!

    October 2013 Sleevers Roll call!

Hello everyone !!! I hope all is well or at least getting there. I know it's been a little ruff for many of us getting used to our new norm, but we'll be just fine... I'm looking forward to Spring already by then I would love to be 60lbs lighter and I'm already halfway there in one month....My husband and I are planning on renewing our vows in Vegas and spending our 10 yr wedding anniversary in Costa Rica so I'm looking forward to doing some shopping for clothes to fit my new body... I'm so excited and that's motivating me.. Even though my weight lose has stalled a little you know that 3 week stall everyone dreads and on top of that I think for us females that still get our monthly, we don't loose much during that week either. What I am excited about is shedding 9 1/2 inches in 3 weeks yaaayyy!!! #Stay motivated guys

    Yup Hit The Infamous Stall

I fear the 3 week stall as I am 9 days post op and only down 6 :/ 14 if I count all the fluid I gained in hospital and lost this first week too. I'm already a slow loser out of the gate :/ hellllppppp!!! 30 is wonderful! Hang in there we will all push through!
  12. Check the forms for 3 week stall. You are not alone. Many go through this. It can happen and most likely will to everyone at some point. I'm 3 months post op and have just hit my first stall. No a pound lost all last week Keep doing what your doing and you'll come outta it. If you look for a thread called Attention this is a public notice about stalls you'll find good info on there. Hope this helps. Good luck

    Question Anyone

Hello Ronda and welcome. What you are experiencing is quite common. Search around the forum for the 3 week stall or you can create your own thread, but let's try to keep this thread focused on the original poster's topic. Thanks!

Going On Week 3 Of A Stall...

Me too Life. I am in a 3 week stall... But I believe that if we stick with our program, this too shall pass. Just avoid the One Big Mistake... giving up.
  15. It was so nice to read about the progress of all of you so far. I was sleeved on October 28th, and I have lost...well, honestly I don't know which to count? If I go by the last weigh in of my bariatric center, I've only lost 19.3. If I go by the first day's weight after I got out of the hospital, I've lost 29.5. If I count my beginning weight when I started the process of the diet classes, I've lost 36. If I go by my highest weight, which was about a week or so before my first diet class, I've lost 49. I know my bariatric center will count theirs, which is the 19.3. What do all of you use? I haven't lost anything since last week - my 3 week stall, I suppose? Tomorrow is week 4 and I see my surgeon on Tuesday. Their scales weigh me 3 pounds less than mine do, so my total loss (if I don't lose anything else before Tuesday) will be about 22 pounds. I haven't really exercised much, but I did some Zumba the last 2 days (exercise video). I couldn't do much more than about 15 minutes, but I was able to do more than I would have pre-surgery, so I'm pleased. I still don't get all the Protein and Water in every day, but I'm working on it. The Outshine brand of no sugar added popsicles have been a great transition after the hour I have to wait to drink to make sure my tummy is ready for the liquids. My bras are all too big, as are most of my tops. I have 2 tops that I bought last year that were too snug. I've hung onto them and I can wear them both now! I'm also wearing my rings again. One ring that was too small for my ring finger is now too big so I wear it on my middle finger. My jeans are getting looser and my favorite PJ bottoms are SO saggy! I'm loving it! I've been taking my measurements, too, and I'm still losing inches even during this weight loss stall. When I did face time with my 5-year-old granddaughter last week, she asked me why does my neck look so long. I think that means she is noticing my weight loss over the phone! I have only gotten sick about 3 or 4 times. I hate protein powders so I've been getting my extra protein from Protein Bars. I can only eat 1/2 a bar, but that's 9 grams of protein per 1/2 so that helps. I do have problems staying "regular" but haven't taken anything to help it along so far. I guess I'll get some Milk of Magnesia next time I'm at the store and somebody said watermelon helps, too, if I can find a place that still has watermelon. All in all I'm very pleased with my results so far. This will my goal will be to kick up the exercise. I'm new here, by the way, and I look forward to keeping in touch here and checking in on all of your progresses.

    OCTOBER SLEEVERS- How Ya Doin'?

Sleeved on 10/17. Lost 23 pounds since surgery. Hit the 3 week stall and it's been super slow going since. I continue to struggle with getting all my fluids in. No issue with any foods.....so far. Hitting between 500-600 calories each day.
  17. I feel like I'm the only one who's not had a stall. I read Butters 3 week stall on his signature when I first joined. At the time is was my only knowledge of there being a stall. I thought crap I'm a month out its going to happen any day. I was scared. Then my heart went out to everyone who had a stall!

    Im Not Special.....

I hit the dreaded 3 week stall, which has carried on into weeks 4 and 5. I was hoping I would be special and skip right over the 3 weeks stall. No such luck. I lost 17 pounds in the first 17 days. I've lost 5 pounds over the next 18 days. No complaints. I know this will pass. I'm really just taking a moment to whine. I really wanted to be special!!
  19. I was sleeved 10/22 and down 33 lbs as of today! I've hit the 3 week stall ugh

    Tomorrow is my surgery day

How's everyone doing? I'm on mushies now. Week 3 postop. Weight loss totally stalled. I believe it's a thing, the 3 week stall.
  21. I hit the 3 week stall at about two weeks out. .. I figure with pre op that's 3weeks. It lasted about a week and a half where I eent up and down about a pound. Then it just started falling off again. The body just needs to catch up. Stay on track, your doing great!
  22. Hi. Any advice on what to do to overcome this food obsession. I'm about 3.5 months out and down 50 pounds. I've been averaging about 800 calories per day and the scale is not moving. I did hit the 3 week stall at about a month out but since then very slow. I think about food all the time exactly like I did before surgery. I want to get to a point where I eat to live not live to eat. I have been doing well as far as choices but I know too much of a good thing is just as bad. I have figured out some trigger foods...triscuts & peanutbutter extreme (life choice) protein bars...they kick in the carb monster heavy. I'm trying the quest bars now..they seem to satisfy that sweet craving but I do not want more. The life choice bars ....I could eat them back to back. Yesterday seemed to be a good day..I got most of liquids in and I kept the carbs at 20 percent got 90 grams protein and the rest n fats. I woke up 1.5 pounds down but it has been fluctuating up and down for awhile. The head crap sucks! I know I can do better have done better but depression set n an exercise has dropped to nil. I need to get back to me! I will NOT fail at this. I refuse to surrender to those dark unworthy thoughts. Is it always going to such a battle?

October Sleevers! How Much Have You Lost?

Hello. I was sleeved 10/21. I did not gain anything from surgery and have lost 13lbs post op. I have been a little...oh let's say frustrated because I hit the dreaded 3 week stall early. I have stayed the same about 2 weeks now. I know it happens, so I am not getting bent or anything. I will just be happy when my body decides it is time to start letting go of some more weight again! I did lose 33lbs from August on my own, so that may also be playing into things now. IDK... But I am still happy. I know my body is adjusting and figuring it all out. And to be honest, I have probably not been eating enough. Trying to up my calories a little more, plus get moving more, to break the stall and get back heading down...Good luck!
  24. Not much to report this week .. 3 week stall... HW 250 SW 236 CW 221.5 total loss 28.5 lbs including pre op.. started challenge at 227 Goal 210... we'll see..
  25. Butterbean, I like the link to the 3 week stall. Do I have your permission to re-use this for bandster's who stall shortly after surgery? I had a vague idea why I always lost weight on a diet or with the band initially but this scientific explanation is better than anything I can come up with? tmf
